Do u know something about the complicated british immigration rules?,

I think some of the websites are cool, and a nice idea if u can afford it. I am a bit shy with posting pictures in a public space anyway so no problems there for me

I dont know much about Ghana, never been there, but whatever they have, their government sure manages tourism  better than ours have even done!!! Rather than taking a snipe at fellow africans who are at least trying to do something for themselves(they are not perfect) maybe we can borrow a leaf from their books and at least try to start from somewhere and ensure the current resurgance of tourism does not fail. We do have a history of starting but not finishing or maintaining past projects.

Obviously this case should have been handled in some way by the Nigerian high commision in Singapore. Like someone pointed pointed out most countries at least would have used some sort of diplomacy to negiotiate something or at least do something about the young man's plight.

While i do not condone what the young man in question did, does he really deserve to die in a foriegn country? Of course every country has its laws by which residents are required to abide by but i just think death penalty is such a hard stance. People who break the law should and must be punished to serve as a deterrent to others, but there are more 'humane' ways of doing that (Lest i forget, i think a reverend was sentenced to death in Nigeria recently). Looks like the Nigerian government do not value the lives of it's citizens at home or abroad.

For those who think he deserved what he got (as he is bringing a bad name to the country), what of if he was your own blood, a brother, uncle, nephew, etc would you still have the same stance? More nigerians are involved in money scams popularly called 419 than in drug peddling as even reported recently on ABC news. No organisation or even the High Commision in America came out to refute the claims. Yes a nigerian was caught trying to scam an unsuspecting victim but does that represent a large proportion of nigerians? Such negative coverage only allows people to hold on to the misconceptions they already hold about Nigerians. If caught and the penalty is death in that country, should they also die? How many foreigners have been arrested on an offence in nigeria have actually served any sentence before they are released after diplomatic intervention? It is time for nigerians to stop looking out for just themselves, our leaders selfish attitude to life has got us no where as a nation!!!

@ d time when that hit was released, the in-thing in naija was "TAPES" as a matter of fact, i never saw the CD else, i'd have the .rmj file today (i used Real Player then).

I had the tape but you know what becomes of them when u play them on messed up cassette players. I'll c what i can do, but Nel hit west Africa and Africa with that. i guess he even won a Kora for that?

Yeah, the song was really nice then , I loved it so much i 'smuggled' a copy of the tape to the UK so my friends wont laugh at me. I guess someone 'borrowed' it and never returned it

Well, Diouf would have been in serious trouble if he did that. Trust me, he seems to get in trouble a lot in the Premiership and of late with the local police as well. He is one of those 'characters' that probably only Sam Alladyce can handle.

Yeah, I was really surprised too. I guess everyone has a dark side especially when pushed to the limit. I felt really sorry for him. Became a villian after being a hero for most of his career.

In answer to a previous question in the Travel section, I live in a lovely city called Bath, built by the Roman Empire in those days and there are still some of the public Roman Baths around. The whole city is on the World Heritage List so nothing can be removed from the city without permission. If you are looking for a village, Ibadan is the place to be, eating lots of amala and ewedu, 

The brand name David Becham is a real money making machine/merchandice. It is a win win situations for all parties. It is a shame he will never get to play 'proper competitive' soccer. Come to think of it, how come in recent times, there are not too many successful british exports, that are regular for thier clubs. David Becham and Michael Owen come to mind.

Gunner fan here. Just representing. I have to admit i have not been too happy with the team's wobbly performance at the start of the season, well we hope to keep up the recent one against liverpool. It will be nice to actually win something this season, to celebrate the move to Emirates Stadium. I do have fears with our FA cup game with that boggy team called Bolton. May God help us,  I dont mind the Carling cup, if only we can beat that Chelski sorry Chelsea.

Do u still reside in Ibadan?, I was in the old city in the summer too, don't ask about my experience, i spent the whole night between the redeemed camp and the MFM camp on a particular day in august, coming from Ibadan, arguably one of the worst days of my life.

I really liked the creativity and organisation of those at lagosriviera.com, at least from the pictures on the website. Keep up the good work.

People who spoil Nigeria live abroad and can't even take a taxi abroad, all they can afford are the buses and the train/tube rides, but in Nigeria - they think different.

I live abroad and i took Taxis when i was in Lagos in the summer. I have to admit i was a bit scared as the taxi in Anthony from the taxi park was really dodgy. The door close to me didnt lock well and i had to hold it for the duration of my journey . About 5 mins into the journey, the cab guy stopped to buy fuel . I was just grateful i traveled in broad day light and got home safe and sound.

I know people want nigerians to be positive but we also have to be realistic. I would only take a taxi as a last means of transport especially in Lagos.

This post is for those who know a thing or two about legal issues involving immigration in the UK.

The other route to get a permanent stay is to get a work permit and with the current work climate, especially with the expansion of the EU, is not the easiest of options.

Please i would appreciate useful comments and suggestions as i am thinking of seeking legal advice. I have no idea how much it costs and any relevent legal firms that anyone has used in the past would be useful.

That is quite true. I know a few people who are now leaving the UK after thier first degrees and Masters to set up in Nigeria. There are lots of opportunities back home. We only need to see them and make use of them.
