cuminside:Don't involve yourself in what you know nothing about. https://m.thenigerianvoice.com/news/57897/anambra-pensioners-tell-gov-obi.html It was indeed a clarion call, a distress call from distressed people. They were elderly men and women that had served their state with diligence for 35 years, while the rest had turned 60 while in service. They then quit the service, hoping to enjoy their retirement peacefully in their homes. That enjoyment seems not to be there, though. They are being denied their benefits by the same state they spent their youthful years serving: the Anambra State government. The state, they said, has refused paying them gratuity and pension. The old men and women recently addressed the press, narrating what they termed their ordeal in the hands of the Anambra State government. The press briefing was addressed by the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) branch, Engr. Dennis Nwadukwe. He said, among other things, that the state government has, since 1996, owed them arrears of pension and gratuity to the tune of N200 million. The workers said they were also not happy that the state government, under Peter Obi, has not been treating their former organization, the ABS, well. |
Why is Nairaland basically trying to join in the anti Okorocha gang up? Feeding non-Imolites false news is useless except of course if election is around the corner. People in Imo State and those of us that visited this season have seen and passed our verdict. The pension issue is 40 years old and has continued to build over the years. Ohakim as a man couldn't reduce it by even one month but has mouth now as a loser to make comments. 40% might seem small but is a step in the right direction since it is an inherited debt and not incurred by Okorocha. |
Port Harcourt is not a large city as Lagos hence you can get to work from any part of the city to D-Line in less than 20 minutes using a bike. |
Before you judge first of all make enquiries from unbiased and non-partisan sources. The truth not being told is how the pension arrears was accumulated and the fact that it was inherited by Okorocha from Ohakim who inherited from Udenwa that inherited from military who inherited from Mbakwe. Year after year same issue kept cropping up and accumulating further. There's no need to play politics with the issue and especially attacking Okorocha as if he is the one in whose tenure the arrears were accumulated. While 40% is below my expectation it is out of place to misinform people that the pension arrears were accumulated exclusively by Okorocha |
dazekid:Politics can sometimes make sane people irrational and unable to differentiate reality from propaganda. The man Okorocha you are judging by these fake drama is spending not less than 500million Naira monthly in funding education for over 15000 students of his various foundation colleges across Nigeria. He is equally funding from the State resources free education for all citizens of the State schooling in the State from primary to University. If indeed he is interested in the money won't it be easy for him to act like other politicians by simply removing free education and pocketing the money which could amount to billions monthly? |

ezenwajosh:Did you read the story? Nothing like that was said and you are convinced it was. |
Lol! Vanguard at it again. Sometimes Nairaland needs to ignore some of these childish lies coming out of Vanguard as it is already known by Nigerians that Vanguard is fighting Okorocha. When you read the body of their news you will always realize that it is just made up stories and deliberate attempts to involve Okorocha in the news. |
Brendaniel:I don't think it's good dissatisfying yourself to please people including Nigerian electorates. Rochas Okorocha that spends most of his money on the masses still has people faulting that same action of his training fifteen thousand people all at once in his various foundation schools which if translated to 100k on each head per term means 1.5 billion every 3 months or 500 million monthly. |
If this news is true then Jameh is as good as gone. Nothing more to negotiate than to surrender himself to international community except of course he chooses the option of fighting the world till he is killed. |
A young girl of about 20 years came with her friends to Illusions which is another club in Owerri and used 36 bottles of Moet Rosé to watch her hands. Anyone that clubs in Owerri must have witnessed worse case scenarios. |
uchennamani:My brother don't conclude in a hurry. Mua afugokwa same thing. |
I love Ifeanyi Uba for 1001 reasons. Not many Nigerians will be bold enough to tow the path of truth like he just did and to me his profile is slowly rising. |
Nigerians believe in things that aren't real like religion and witchcraft. |
Wike knows that there can never be a division without Nigeria turning to something worse than old Rwanda, Somalia and Libya or even worse. At least 7million people will die in 1 year from ethnic cleansing amongst various groups followed by endless years of war. No intelligent man wishes such destruction on his people. |
BERNIMOORE:Amaechi is a force in Rivers State and nobody can achieve 30% of what he did in Rivers State in several years to come. The reason you erroneously assumed he is not a force is because he chose peace ahead of war because of his love for his people. The future will vindicate him. |
May the eyes of our people be clear enough to know those who bargain for political survival/ 2nd fiddle and those who bargain for the interest of our people.

The sooner we realise that IMF formula has never worked the better for Nigeria and Africa. All newly developed economies like China never adhered to IMF. |
ajepako:In what way has Wike performed to an extent you were wowed? Is it roads, Schools, hospitals, scholarship, payment of salaries or what exactly? |
lustychima:Rochas is owing nobody except of course on Vanguard newspaper with their lies. Rivers State has not paid since February and just paid only November leaving out February to October but they will not see it. |
ConqueredWest:Far higher percentage of Southerners are active in telecommunications than the North as well as school enrollment and banking thereby making those factors extremely biased in terms of statistics. Nigerian population will remain a mystery until having high population is made unattractive. |
No pics from Imo 2016 carnival on this thread.

GEJman:This is a glimpse of some buildings in the school which is almost completed. Okorocha is a man of great taste. Forget the politics of lies and blackmail employing some media houses like Vanguard and go see things for yourself.

What I like about Buhari Government is tackling our root problems instead of impressionism as obtained in the past. 2 things are left in my expectations from his government. 1 is power. I'm not impressed with the state of things in the power sector and he seems headed same way as Jonathan with excuses. 2 is currency exchange rate. Naira should be devalued to at least 1000 to a Dollar and the parallel market eliminated. Surely people will suffer but to develop we need such harsh measures. |
Owerri is as good as Abuja and is even on the verge of surpassing Abuja if the development continues at the present pace. |
Current State of the phase 1 of 8 lane Okigwe highway in Owerri metropolis. So many of such roads are under construction with the longest being the 8 to 10 lane ring road with 2 flyovers linking Egbu and Egbeada/Irette.

Impressive assembly junction tunnel. A drive through the opened lane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX3qVDxHU1w |
Watch this as a tip of the iceberg. These few months Owerri has improved astronomically https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsfKpDwDpxk |

adimsmt:That's what they are fighting the Governor for. The opposition is playing on people's intelligence to resist urban renewal. |
That nurse is crazy. What does she even know? |
