Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Should I Do by ImpactBooks: 11:39am On Apr 02, 2023
Op, I think you're even being myopic about your current problem and if care is not taken, a bigger problem awaits you very soon. To avoid story that touch, I will advise you take the necessary steps:

1. Were you given an employement offer letter where your remuneration and other benefits were clearly stated?

2. If your answer to (1) above is yes, what does the letter says about your training programme period viz-a-viz your pay?

3. If your responses to the above is 'No', there is still a way to go about it: Ask the staff you met on the job for details. Be very diplomatic about this. This should give you a detail insight on how the school treat staff welfare holistically.

4. If the responses you got from your colleagues are not impressive enough, quit the job immediately. Don't be scared to take this step. Keep moving and am very sure, a better job awaits you very soon.

5. Be a man and don't make your employer see you as a desperate young man looking for job. This is the game some employers does in Nigeria.

All the best in your decision

I wonder what some guys take ladies for! So when someone says you're not approachable it simply means she's interested in you?! Mtchewww

Op, you better work on your inter-personal communication skills with both sex. I'm not saying there may not a love-interest undertone with the female sex anyways but it's childish to just into such conclusion.

CrimeRe: Help! My Deaf Friend Was Scammed By Bet Scammer by ImpactBooks: 9:10pm On Dec 31, 2022
- That amount of money is too small for EFCC to investigate;

- If you send that kind of scammed amount to investigate, they will refer you to the Police instead;

- Also, the state where your (deaf) friend lines will determine which of the EFCC Zonal office you'll need to direct your complaint letter/petition to;

- EFCC will not respond to your online 'report'. Rather, a written complaint letter/petition must be submitted to the EFCC Zonal office covering the state where the crime was committed;

- I believe gambling is a legal thing to do in Nigeria otherwise you can't fight illegality with illegality.

RomanceRe: My Girlfriend Is A Cultist. Advice Needed Please by ImpactBooks: 1:34pm On Dec 30, 2022
This reminds me of FADEKE. Lol.

Op, let me advise you from experience:

1. You are VERY VERY SAFE with the girl if she truly loves you;

2. Much as you really wish to talk her out of that shit, don't ever bring the matter up unless she did;

3. Making her to love you more is the best way to make her decide on leaving that shit but don't make it as an option for her;

4. Trust me on this: She has lovers as cultist as well but don't ever talk her out of it unless she wishes to;

5. Don't let her cultist lover see you with her in Public (they are very jealous lovers). But, even if they per adventure get to know, you are EVERLY protected by the girl;

6. Avoid middling with her cultist activities even when she freely discussed it with you, have a way of not having interest. One day, she will show remorse, ask you why and you'll then have the opportunity to talk sense into her. But, don't react negatively to her still.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Should The Boss Inform His Staff Of A Potential Sale? by ImpactBooks: 1:06pm On Dec 30, 2022
The owner is not under any obligation to inform his/her staff of this. In one way or the other, the news will surely filter to the knowledge of the staff and they're free to decide their own fate which is either

- Leave before the new owner take over or

- Stay for the new owner to downsize them ( absorb some while asking the rest to leave) due to policy change.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Who Should Be Responsible For Payroll Management by ImpactBooks: 5:52pm On Nov 07, 2022
The HR software is both managed by the FM and HR as below:

Salary, leave allowance, loans etc computation module should be handled by the FM. Suffice to say that, the HR is expected to forward all staff's employment letter to the FM so as to input the salary details into the software Viz-a-viz the statutory deductions and remittance

Employment History, Leave period, birth date and every other staff records should be handled by the HR on the system.

Note that depending on the configuration of the HR software, the HR should not be authorized to access the computation 'page' of the software while the FM should not also has access to the record keeping 'page' as well.

Everything staff PAYEE, PENSION, NSITF deduction liabilities are paid by the company, the FM is expected to forward such evidence to the HR for proper record keeping snr update.

BusinessRe: How Much Have You Saved This Year? by ImpactBooks: 5:24pm On Oct 14, 2022
You mean some people still keep money in their account as savings in a country where money loses value per second billing?! I believe the question should have been, ' how much have you invested his year'?

Trust me, aside from keeping money for consumption and precautionary motive, keeping money in one's account instead of investing same is worthless.

This year has been so good to me. I am on my second house project and I have invested upto N5m to the roofing level. Plan is to have a student hostel (site is behind a state Polytechnic) and let out.
FamilyRe: Help! Am I Wrong Asking My Wife To Talk To Her Mum by ImpactBooks: 1:47pm On Aug 29, 2022
Some men just like to give themselves unnecessary headache. From the storyline, neither the wife, godmother nor mother-in-law is complaining of staying together in the one bedroom apartment. Na the Op dey complain! And what's the Op even complaining of to be spefic: Space, food or what?

Op, na u suppose dey patient till Wednesday. You better thank your star that you have mother around you to help your wife in babysitting. There are couples that live in 3 or 4 bedroom apartment yet to mother-in-law or godwhatever to come assist them in babysitting!

At this point, conveniency shouldn't be the priority but love, affection, and care that your family requires. Be patient till Wednesday Op abeg. Neither your wife, mother-in-law or wife's godmother is complaining. Except if there is something you're not telling us.

P.s: Congratulations on your first fruit. May his/her brith open immeasurable blessing, mercy and favour unto your family.

CareerRe: Intent On Going Back To My Previous Job by ImpactBooks: 9:10pm On Jul 12, 2022
This is why I deliberately always have outstanding leave any where I work. If I see any new job offer and I need to test how deep the water is, I ensure that I keep my two legs in it. All I need do is to apply for my outstanding leave diplomatically and use that period to see what the new job offers. Suffice to say that I do spend my leave at my new job offer. Once I notice the new job doesn't offer me something better than where my originaI job, I call it quit and resume back to my original job once the leave period ends.

EducationRe: Is Teaching Job Now A Modern Day Slavery?? Honestly I'm So Angry Right Now by ImpactBooks: 11:15pm On Jun 29, 2022
Op, if you can read this, you messed up big time. Only a fresh and myopic job seeking youth will not see the opportunities available in teaching environment. Apology tendered if this sounds insultive.

See, if I be you, I will take up the job because of the following additional opportunities that abound in teaching environment:

1. Extra-Moral lessons in the school can fetch you more income

2. If you're good in what you teach to the extent of being noticed by the School, the school, for the fear of losing you, may bargain for your salary increase.

3. In addition to (2) above, parents can hire you for the wards' private home lesson where your lesson fee will be determined by you.

4. In furtherance of (3) above, you night be lucky to meet parents that will not only like you but pick interest in lending you a helping hand in fulfilling your career outside the teaching job by getting you your dream job. I have friends who have good testimonies to share in this vein.

By ad large, teaching is basically for those who has the passion to impact knowledge and not for those who see it as a way of survival.

Music/RadioRe: Nigeria Musicians Will Forever Be Indebted To Wizkid And Davido For This>opinion by ImpactBooks: 1:07pm On Jun 18, 2022
Op, you try but you actually missed the storyline. The only thing that sounds very correct in your write-up was the Monopoly of the music industry by Kennis Music. Now, here is what was missing from your storyline:

Foremost, before I jump into Kennis Music's Monopoly, let me quickly appreciate the contribution of Kally Ikpe of the New Live Beats musical programme on the defunt NTA 2 Channel 5 in the late 90s. Cally Ikpe runs no record label though but he used his programme to air Notable Nigerian artistes back then and I must say without an iota of doubt that Plantashun Boiz most especially 2Face and Black face (Faze never join them then) should be grateful to him. Infact, the duo did the jingle of The New Life beat musical programme for Cally Ikpe..Big up to Cally Ikpe..

Now back to Kennis Music's monopoly and who break it? RUGGEDMAN! Those who remember the track, 'Ehn Ehn' back then in the early 2000 should remember the story and which platform did he (Ruggedman) used? STAR FM and big up to DJ BOMBASTIC and ALABA BOYS. RUGGEDMAN proved to other Nigerian musical artistes then that without the Kennis Music's AIT Jamz and influence of Raypower, their music can be heard!

Then came NIGEZIE by my main man, KWAME! While Souncity was promoting more of foreign artiste on AIT, KWAME was promoting Nigerian artiste both on AIT (as an Independent Producer which Kennis Music has no influence on) and MITV.

Suffice to say that the likes of DJ BOMBASTIC and KWAME gave Nigerian artistes hope through their music programme STAR FM and MITV respectively!

RUGGEDMAN CD was really sold at Alaba Market and on the street of Lagos.

Thereafter came the record label like Mo-hits, Storm, Timbuktu, Dove etc and the rest is history.

Naija music has really evolved and to God be the glory.

I hope this compliment your write-up, Op.

Welldone bro

TravelRe: What’s The Worst And Weirdest Experience You’ve Had At A Hotel? by ImpactBooks: 8:29pm On May 10, 2022
Sometimes I spend 3 weeks tranversing the length and breadth of this country and I've been lucky not to have any horrible experience lodging. I have read many horrible experiences here and wish to guide as follows so as not to have horrible experience lodging again:

1. Make sure you arrive your destination early enough (Day time). This will give you enough time to shop for a good hotel to stay before night falls.

2. Check available rooms before payment. Don't be in a hurry to pay. Take your time to check available rooms to your satisfaction. If you arrive your destination at night, desperation will not allow you to do this.

3. When checking available rooms, examine the bedsheet, duvet, bathroom/toilet, room wall, electrical fittings, fan or air conditioner (ask them to turn it on for few minutes for you to have a feel), door handle and ceiling (for security reasons). If you're not satisfy with all theses ask to check other available rooms. If still not satisfy, leave for the best available hotel around. Note: If you arrive at night, desperation to pass the night (any how) will not allow you to ensure all these check lists.

4. Once night is gradually setting in ask the receptionist to 'spray' the room for you with insecticide. If the reception doesn't provide you with me, walk out to get for yourself!

5. Take your time to spend some minutes with the receptionist at the reception (Probably while your room is being 'sprayed'). Try to chat with the receptionist in a friendly manner and use the opportunity to ask her/him more about the hotel particularly electricity issue. Try to find out when they may likey turn on and off the Generator (when there is power outage) and many things that you may want to know about the hotel

6. If you are lucky to lodge in a nice hotel, don't forget to have the receptionist's phone contact for future room reservation. When you do this, the fear of you arrival at the city night won't be an issue again. Once you're very nice with the receptionist on your first visit, your room reservation won't be an issue.

For reader's information, I am an Auditor and my job makes me to travel alot..I rarely spend.a week at my primary state or residence as I am always on the road traversing the length and breadth of this country and I can tell you that I have had little or no horrible lodging experience. THE GOLDEN PRINCIPLE IS TO AVOID ARRIVING AT YOUR DESTINATION LATE NIGHT.

By this week Thursday, I will be away for another three weeks official assignments as follows:

Lagos - PHC

PHC - CALABAR

CALABAR - UYO

UYO - ENUGU

ENUGU - ABUJA

ABUJA - KANO

KANO - KADUNA

KADUNA - ABUJA

ABUJA - OWERRI

OWERRI - BENIN

BENIN - LAGOS/IBADAN

I can tell you with the exception of Enugu, I have made my room reservation already courtesy of the Hotel Receptions. As for Enugu, I plan to arrive the city timely enough to enable me 'shop' for a good Hotel to stay.

Cheers!

FamilyRe: About To Break Up With My Girlfriend Because Of Risk Of Travelling In Nigeria by ImpactBooks: 2:25pm On May 03, 2022
Well, In all fairness to you Op, having lived abroad for some time should be enough reason for you to be fearful of traveling on Nigerian roads. Your reason may sounds petty but he who wears the shoe knows where it pinches.

By the way, it's funny how some people regard Nigerian roads very fearful. Going by the nature of my job, I do transverse the length and breadth of the country by road more than anything. There is hardly any month I won't be on Nigeria roads for a minimum of two weeks: North-South-East-West. Infact, the last trip I made lasted 3 weeks as follows:

Lagos - Owerri

Owerri - Abuja

Abuja - Kano

Kano -. Minna

Minna - Abuja

Abuja - Calabar

Calabar - Uyo

Uyo - Benin

Benin - Abuja

Abuja - Lagos

All trips were made by ROAD to the glory of God. Infact, in the next one week, I will be on the road again for another two weeks as follows:

Lagos - Porthacourt

Porthacourt - Calabar

Calabar - Uyo

Uyo - Umuahia (Abia)

Umuahia - Enugu

Enugu - Abuja

Abuja - Kano

Kano - Kaduna

Kaduna - Abuja

Abuja - Kano

These trips will.be made by ROAD.

On a lighter mood, it's mind-buggling that an average Nigerian now has fear for Kidnapping than accident. In conclusion, what is very important is that one should have a positive mindset when planning to travel on Nigeria roads. More so, start your journey early in the morning so that you can arrive at your destination early enough.

Op, abeg na once man pickin dey die o. Go see your babe! If road dey fear you take flight. And if all these options no suit you, allow another man take control of the innocent girl timely enough. Last last, it's gonna be a win-win situation for both of you.

Cheers!

[quote author=PoliteActivist post=107330473]Forget all they've been saying, focus on these:

1) GET TO THE AIRPORT ON TIME!!!
I mean like 4 to 5 hours before flight.
Once you do this you become the boss. They can't use their usual trick of u may miss flight.
Believe it or not, most people do things at last minute.

2) Have some small naira on you or be able to go and withdraw some. If you are at the airport on time there is no problem a little "gift" can't solve. Don't see airport as where you'd solve Nigeria's corruption problem. Those people have to eat too!

3) Once you are at airport on time, don't just sit in one corner. Talk to fellow travelers, they'd tell you how best to navigate, especially veteran travellers.
Even talk to airport workers, but be careful.

4) Try and be among first to weigh your bags and do check-in so if there are problems you'd have ample time to resolve it.

5) Be clear about your departure gate. Once checked in, go and sit there. Other people taking same flight will also be sitting there. In case there are changes you don't know about, their movements will alert you.

6) Know things like what's not allowed on airplane, amount of fluids you can carry, food, etc. No sense bringing something and they throw it out at boarding

7) BE ON TIME!!! Most people are kept busy by final arrangements at home, or delayed by traffic, and make it to the airport under time pressure - and become food for airport hustlers![/quote

Thanks Sir for your tutoring. Although, you sound like I've never fly on a plane before (Lol). Not at all. I fly plane more often but local. Infact, there is no month that I don't fly but like I posited before, it has always been local. So, I know the local flight protocol.

I only need tutorial on International flight protocols being my first time on that route.
Anyways, I appreciate your guidance.

Stay blessed Sir
