FOR THE UNDERGRADUATE CATEGORY APPLICATION:

The PTDF UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP Team lacks organization and proper management, and i doubt if they actually contact or notify applicants by sms or Mail....for their test.

I was a Former Beneficiary, ( 1st set of PTDF scholars, FUTO OWERRI) , and from my personal experience back in school, we were not contacted by mail or sms.....They only pasted the list of invited candidates for the test ...at front of our Deans Office.

All the applicants in my school that year almost missed the test....

I was returning from a fellowship program on a friday evening and decided to go withdraw money at d ATM point ...close to our Deans office, (Former SEET Head )....only to go through the wall and saw a list.....captioned "INVITATION FOR PTDF SCHOLARSHIP TEST"

funny enough, the test date was scheduled to take place the next morning ....i had to pick up my pen and wrote down all the names on the list with their phone numbers and started calling everyone ....

we were 14 invitees on the list , but i was only able to reach out 13 .


so 13 of us finally wrote d test d next morning without any preparation, and 12 of us finally got it. ....

That was how God used me that very evening to save 13 of us from missing the test and scholarship.


i don't know if PTDF Local Scholarship Team has improved their feedback mechanism by now.....

but here are my advise,

1) keep checking your Deans Office, for any notice, and keep in touch with other applicants in your Dept and school.

2) Find out the PTDF cordinator in your school, usually a Prof or HOD's of any of the PTDF target departments.... and once in a while ...visit his/her office to make enquiries.

3) Look out for and connect with existing Beneficiaries in your school. ( you may be surprised to know there are many existing beneficiaries in your Dept.)


4) keep checking the website....for any update..





But , i think , they should have improved by now, you may be contacted directly by PTDF via sms or mail if invited...

I think they pay tuition fees themselves, and pay you the stipend and other allowances in two installments.
I.e if your monthly stipend as an MSC scholar is £1,150 per month, they Will give you £6,900 first payment to cover first 6 months and the so also the next payment.Though a current scholar told me this, I stand to be corrected.

I was also an undergraduate beneficiary , our school they paid us roughly 1 million in two installments but no laptops.

ours was 690k in total plus an HP laptop ...( they paid us only 3 times .....i.e 230k per year ......for 3rd yr , 4th yr and Final yr )


however, they robbed us of the following :

our final year benefit (230k) ...plus 50k for our project ( Total of 280k)

our scholarship awards reads that the award takes effect from 2nd till final year ( 5 yrs course, Engineering) ....so we were supposed to be paid 4 times ...


imaging that embezzled 280k , multiplied by the total number of beneficiaries .....that's very huge.

Their local scholarship for undergraduate seems to lack organization and proper management.

e.g ...your UK MSc tuition fee is £18,000....and then PTDF sends you £20,000 ....and then , you have a balance of £2,000 left with you after paying the fees.

A country that still celebrate class room paper grades more than innovations and new scientific discoveries is still in the stone age.

I think innovations and creativities from young minds are not given the required attention and support that top grade students enjoys.

just last month, A young Igbo guy from Anambra State invented a machine that converts/ recycles plastics wastes into diesel.

He built the machine from a locally sourced material .

A ground breaking invention that has the capacity to become a Multi Billion Dollar industry, .....Create jobs, attract foreign exchange via Export, and better the lives of people...

Unfortunately, all he got as a reward was a 250k Naira cash gift from Anambra state Governor ( Willie Obiano)......(an amount of money that couldn't even pay his house rent)


In 2013, Another Two little Igbo boys in Okigwe, Imo State, at age of 16 and 17 was able to fabricate and launch a rocket that travelled over 5KM into the Air Space before it crash landed.

These little boys fabricated the rocket from local materials and could be described as the Wright Brothers Of Africa......


Unfortunately , they were not given any recognition of any kind, not even a scholarship, nor any kind of support to pursue their dreams of building aircrafts.


An invention that has the capacity to make Nigeria a major exporter of Aircrafts to other parts of the world....create jobs, boost our foreign reserve, and place us among world powers .....

Note: Application received or under review isn’t a guarantee that you will shortlisted or invited for the aptitude test/interview. Those that have their status “Application received” may also be invited. Your applications would be subjected to thorough screening by the recruitment team.

During your application, you were required to fill the form. When completed and submitted successfully, the system would scan the data provided by candidates and it would reject or accept the application automatically which depends on whether a candidate meets the minimum requirements or not.

If the application is successful, a confirmation mail would be sent to a candidate that met the. If it’s rejected by the machine, the candidate won’t receive a confirmation mail but a rejection mail the same day and status would change to application rejected or not considered.

Those that received the confirmation mail, succeeded in the first stage of screening.

If a candidates provides an answer that doesn’t correspond to what is stated on his/her resumes and certificates, the person would be disqualified and sent a rejection mail for example, on the application form, a candidate chose “yes” for possessing a 2:1 or higher but on his/her certificate or resume it stated a 2:2 or 3rd class. He/She would receive a rejection mail.

Also, the recruiter would check for a candidates date of birth, state of residence (Lagos & Awka Ibom residents will be highly considered), those that possess a higher degree, professional certifications or work experience would be highly considered etc. The moment a member of the recruitment team opens a candidate’s file, the application status would change to “Under Review”. It may not change for some if the system experienced a glitch. Keep checking your mails for invites and ignore the received or under review status.

If you have not received a rejection mail or have your application status change from received to application no longer considered, you are safe.

Application screening takes 3weeks from the date of publication before successful candidates receive invitations.

Since the inception of Npower Programme (N-Teach, N-Health, N-Agro & N-Tax) precisely Npower Tax programme, an offshoot of the poverty and unemployment alleviation programme of the Federal Govt of Nigeria in 2017, whereby over 100 youths that are resident in Rivers State, attended the training at Federal Treasury Academy Orozo Abuja under stream 9, 10 & 24, we have since been neglected and abandoned as a result of a show of strength between Federal Govt & Rivers State Govt. Both trading blames at each other, several attempt by Npower Tax beneficiaries in Rivers State to get to Rivers State Internal Revenue Service (RIRS) in writing & visit have yielded no result, as we (Rivers State CTLOs) were meant to be given deployment letter by RIRS despite over 8 months (240 days) of working without pay. The RIRS have denied having any knowledge of the existence of Npower Tax programme in Rivers State, pointing out that they have not been notified by Federal Ministry of Finance Abuja, whereas delegates that were sent to enquire reasons for the total neglect by Npower Tax beneficiariesvin Rivers State to Federal Ministry of Finance Abuja months back were clearly told that "Rivers State Government insisted that they don't need Npower Tax CTLOs in RIRS since it's a Federal Govt project and that they could act as spy of the Federal Govt in monitoring the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Rivers State".

This is regrettable as we have been made to be victims of Political struggle between Federal Govt of Nigeria & Rivers State Government. This Npower Tax programme is meant to be a 2-year contract of which beneficiaries are not meant to take up other paid employment opportunities, several letters have been sent to The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo & Ministry of Finance through DHL, Chairman, RIRS Port Harcourt with NO reply whatsoever.

There are few unanswered questions FG & Rivers State Government are yet to answer;

1. Why have Rivers State CTLOs been the only ones that has ignored in the 36 states of the federation?

2. Are they aware of the sacrifices, risk and commitment we paid for this Programme since our Training in Abuja?

3. Is Rivers State CTLOs still part of the Npower Tax programme?

4. Who is holding back our payments & our deployment letters for 8 months now?

5. Why can't Rivers State Government through RIRS give us our deployment letters hence they aren't the ones paying us the N30,000 stipends?

6. Why can't Federal Government through Federal Ministry of Finance shift us to FIRS in Rivers State since RIRS aren't ready to give us our deployment letters?

7. In an ideal society, are we supposed to beg for N30,000 stipends we worked for 8months?

8. Are we meant to be punished if any Political rancour exist between FG & Rivers State Government?

9. Why do we keep receiving emails about Tax trainings in Rivers State from Abuja up till the month of October 2018 when we have not been paid like our colleagues from other states of the federation?

10. Why "always" Rivers State?

Authorities of the Federal Govt & Rivers State Govt should respond to our humble plea, shelve their Political sword & differences and pays us our 8 months salary arrears, we are Nigerian Youths, we deserve better treatment than this.
