The Queen James Bible, the Gay Bible by Matt Slick queen james bible gayThe Queen James Bible, also known as the Gay Bible, is a new assault on biblical orthodoxy and sexual purity. In it, the 1769 King James Bible has been reproduced with only a very few select verses altered - the ones that relate to homosexuality. Those verses are listed below and analyzed. I hope you will see that the Queen James Bible is a perversion of the original text and is the result of obvious prejudices against the original Hebrew and Greek texts in order to make homosexual practices appear acceptable. The interlinear citations are taken from two sources. An interlinear is a listing of the original languages that is reproduced from the most ancient and best manuscripts with English translations under it. This way, the reader can see for himself what the original says. Hebrew Interlinear Quotations are from van der Merwe, Christo. The Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible. Logos Bible Software, 2004. Greek Interlinear Quotations are from the Aland, B., Aland, K., Black, M., Martini, C. M., Metzger, B. M., & Wikgren, A. (1993, c1979). The Greek New Testament (4th ed.) A new law that went into effect in Kenya this week makes it legal for a man to marry as many women as he wants. And a leading women's group is applauding it. President Uhuru Kenyatta signed the polygamy measure into law Tuesday, formally recognizing what has long been a cultural practice in the nation. Parliament passed the bill in March despite protests from female lawmakers who angrily stormed out of the late-night session at the time. The bill initially allowed the first wife the right to veto the husband's choice of additional spouses. Male members of parliament successfully pushed to get that clause dropped. "Marriage is the voluntary union of a man and a woman whether in a monogamous or polygamous union," Kenyatta said in a statement. "The Marriage Act 2014 defines various types of marriages including monogamous, polygamous, customary, Christian, Islamic and Hindu marriages." No limit on number of wives The law legalizes polygamous unions, but does not provide an official limit on the number of wives a man can have. The Federation of Women Lawyers, a powerful women's rights group, applauded aspects of the bill and criticized others. Polygamy already is a common fixture among many cultures in Kenya and in some other African countries. The bill, the group said, is long overdue because polygamous unions were previously not regarded as equal to regular marriages. "We are happy with the law because finally all marriages are being treated equally," said Christine Ochieng, executive director of the nation's Federation of Women Lawyers. "All marriages will be issued with marriage certificates, including customary marriages. Before this, customary marriages were treated as inferior with no marriage certificates. This opened up suffering for the women because they could not legally prove they were married to a particular man. " First wife has no say However, she said, the first wife should have a say in picking her husband's co-wives. "What we are not happy about is that now a man can marry another wife or wives without the consent of the first wife," she said. "That section of the law is potentially open to abuse because a man can secretly marry other wives because he doesn't need his wife's consent to marry." But Jane Kimani, a Nairobi resident, said the bill is archaic and has no place in modern society. "Polygamous marriages should not even be an issue today," she said. "Kenya is moving backward instead of changing with the times." http://edition.cnn.com/2014/05/01/world/africa/kenya-polygamy-law/index.html Obama legalised gay marriage, Kenyatta then decided to legalise polygamy. Interestingly, they are both Kenya by origin.

Former Military governor of old Anambra State, Col. Robert Akonobi (rtd), has pleaded with Igbo parents to reduce the bride price of their daughters so that ‘’our young boys can marry them.” “To me, this topic (bride price) has been dealth with in the past by Ndigbo, who came out with a reduced bride price, to enable our young boys marry our young girls,” Akonobi said. Akonobi also cautioned that men should study their proposed wives closely and longer before engaging into marriage because “once you marry, no one else can put it asunder.” He spoke at the industrial city of Nnewi, Anambra State during the traditional wedding ceremony of the daughter of a business mogul, Chief Louis Onwugbenu, Onyinye and her husband, Bosah Chukwuogo, weekend. Nnewi was agog as dignitaries from all works of life trooped to the residence of Chief Onwugbenu for the memorable event. The dignitaries who were from both the military, political and manufacturing circles, including Col Akonobi, Hon. Clement Nwankwu, former member of the House of Representatives; Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of Gabros International Limited and Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Limited, Chief Gabriel and Innocent Chukwuma respectively, among others. The issue of high bride price was discussed extensively on the occasion. Hon. Nwankwu, in his own speech, prayed that Chief Onwugbenu and his wife would live long to enjoy the fruits of their children, especially those who married from outside their areas. Also, speaking, Mrs. Onwugbenu expressed gratitude that her daughter’s hand was given out in marriage and prayed that her in-laws who came all the way from Awka to marry her daughter, would go back home safely. Father of the bride, Onwugbenu, in his own speech, said he had already blessed his daughter and her husband to go and make a good home. On the bride price controversy in Igbo land, Onwugbenu declared: “We do not charge money as bride price for someone to marry my daughter. To me, what is important is that my daughter should live in peace with her husband. Let her husband’s family members accept her as part and parcel of their family.” http://community.vanguardngr.com/forum/topics/igbo-parents-should-please-reduce-bride-price-col-robert-akonobi If implemented, it would go a long way to reduce the number of unmarried ladies in the East.

Iran Makes This Declaration To Saudi Arabia: “We Will Cut Off Your Hand And Ignite The Flames Of War.” The Standoff Between Saudi Arabia And Iran Begins Last time Iran tried to send an Iranian plane to land in Sana’a airport under the guise of “humanitarian aid” to Yemen, Saudi Arabia responded by bombing the airport in Sanaa to prevent it from landing just to make a point that Iran cannot ignore Saudi warnings that a blockade on Yemen is enforced. Now this is happening all over again at a much larger scale and a more dangerous posture. Iran’s latest attempt is sending a humanitarian ship The Shahed cargo ship as a flotilla to break the Saudi-enforced blockade, which departed Iran on Monday and is currently in the Gulf of Aden. Iran is mimicking the Gaza aid Flotilla, which caused world attention in Israel in 2010, and this new Iranian flotilla is accompanied by a direct threat from Iran “we [Iran] will cut off the hand that touches it”. And to ensure they make good on their threat, they are accompanying this ‘Flotilla’ with two warships, Alborz and the Bushehr proclaiming by such posture that Iran will break the blockade despite warnings by Saudi Arabia and the United States. The U.S. advised Iran to reroute such humanitarian efforts and use a United Nations distribution hub in Djibouti, which is the normal avenue for such humanitarian assistance. It has then become obvious that Iran is attempting a standoff with Saudi Arabia and a showdown between the two nations can become imminent. Iran is also including civilian foreign activists onboard in order to mimic the Gaza flotilla and escalate the condemnation of Saudi Arabia in case of civilian casualties. The state-run IRNA news agency quoted Iranian Admiral Hossein Azad as saying that the 34th naval group “is present in the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab strait and has been given the specific mission of protecting the humanitarian aid ship.” Tehran says the warships are necessary in case Saudi-led coalition forces from their naval blockade intercepts the humanitarian cargo ship. But unlike Israel, Saudi Arabia is not known to have restraint. Just hours before the ceasefire’s beginning in Yemen, Saudi-led coalition forces pounded the Yemeni capital Sanaa with a massive attack on weapons installations. Despite Saudi resolve to crush the Houthi rebellion in Yemen, a senior Iranian commander has stressed that attacking the Iranian aid ship heading to Yemen will “ignite the flames of war” in the region. Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri made the remarks in an interview with Arabic-language news channel al-Alam on Tuesday. http://www.jewsnews.co.il/2015/05/27/iran-makes-this-declaration-to-saudi-arabia-we-will-cut-off-your-hand-and-ignite-the-flames-of-war-the-standoff-between-saudi-arabia-and-iran-begins/ The war between this two great Arab nations would be a boost to peace in Isreal. |

‘constitutional right’, one state is fighting back- TEXAS! Texas Governor Greg Abbott has issued a directive to all state agencies orders all state agency heads to respect and preserve the religious liberties and First Amendment rights of all Texans. In other words, he just shut down same-sex marriage in Texas and ordered everyone to preserve the religious liberties and First Amendment rights of all Texans. (H/T Conservative Post) Governor Greg Abbott today released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling: “The Supreme Court has abandoned its role as an impartial judicial arbiter and has become an unelected nine-member legislature. Five Justices on the Supreme Court have imposed on the entire country their personal views on an issue that the Constitution and the Court’s previous decisions reserve to the people of the States. “Despite the Supreme Court’s rulings, Texans’ fundamental right to religious liberty remains protected. No Texan is required by the Supreme Court’s decision to act contrary to his or her religious beliefs regarding marriage. “The Texas Constitution guarantees that ‘[n]o human authority ought, in any case whatsoever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion.’ The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion; and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act, combined with the newly enacted Pastor Protection Act, provide robust legal protections to Texans whose faith commands them to adhere to the traditional understanding of marriage. “As I have done in the past, I will continue to defend the religious liberties of all Texans—including those whose conscience dictates that marriage is only the union of one man and one woman. Later today, I will be issuing a directive to state agencies instructing them to prioritize the protection of Texans’ religious liberties.” And from Breitbart: “Texans of all faiths must be absolutely secure in the knowledge that their religious freedom is beyond the reach of government,” Governor Abbott wrote in the memorandum obtained by Breitbart Texas. “Renewing and reinforcing that promise is all the more important in light of the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges. The government must never pressure a person to abandon or violate his or her sincerely held religious beliefs regarding a topic such as marriage. That sort of religious coercion will never be a ‘compelling governmental interest,’ and it will never be ‘the least restrictive means of furthering that interest.’” “With these obligations in mind,” Abbott continued, “I expect all agencies under my direction to prioritize compliance with the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, Article I of the Texas Constitution, and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act. All state agency heads should ensure that no one acting on behalf of their agency takes any adverse action against any person, as defined in Chapter 311 of the Texas Government Code, on account of the person’s act or refusal to act that is substantially motivated by sincere religious belief. This order applies to any agency decision, including but not limited to granting or denying benefits, managing agency employees, entering or enforcing agency contracts, licensing and permitting decisions, or enforcing state laws and regulations.” http://www.americasfreedomfighters.com/2015/06/27/texas-governor-takes-immediate-action-against-same-sex-ruling-this-is-huge/ I think this is a welcome development. Germany’s national ethics council has called for an end to the criminalisation of incest between siblings after examining the case of a man who had four children with his sister. Patrick Stuebing, who was adopted as an infant and met his sister in his 20s, has launched several appeals since being imprisoned for incest in 2008 and his lengthy legal battle has prompted widespread public debate. Sexual relations between siblings or between parents and their children are forbidden under section 173 of the German criminal code and offenders can face years in prison. But on Wednesday, the German Ethics Council recommended the section be repealed, arguing that the risk of disability in children is not enough to warrant the law and de-criminalising incest would not remove the huge social taboo around it. The chairman of the council, Christiane Woopen, was among the 14 members voting in favour of repealing section 173, while nine people voted for the ban to continue and two abstained. A statement released on Wednesday said: “Incest between siblings appears to be very rare in Western societies according to the available data but those affected describe how difficult their situation is in light of the threat of punishment. “They feel their fundamental freedoms have been violated and are forced into secrecy or to deny their love. “The Ethics Council has been told of cases where half-siblings did not grow up together and have only met in their adult lives.” Such was the case with Mr Stuebing, who was adopted at a young age and traced his birth family in his early 20s. He and his sister Susan Karolewski, who were not brought up together, met for the first time when they were aged 24 and 16 respectively. He was convicted of incest in 2008 and spent three years in prison, failing an appeal to the Federal Constitutional Court in 2008 and to the European Court of Human Rights over his rights to a family life in 2012. Ms Karolewski was allowed to keep custody of their youngest child but the other three were taken into care. Two are disabled, although it is not known whether incest is the cause. In a statement outlining its recommendations, the Ethics Council said the law against incest “put couples in a tragic situation”. “The majority of the German Ethics Council is of the opinion that it is not appropriate for a criminal law to preserve a social taboo,” it added. “In the case of consensual incest among adult siblings, neither the fear of negative consequences for the family , nor the possibility of the birth of children from such incestuous relationships can justify a criminal prohibition. “The fundamental right of adult siblings to sexual self-determination has more weight in such cases than the abstract protection of the family. Members objecting to decriminalising incest argued that it would weaken “ethically significant” family values that contribute towards personal development. A spokeswoman for Angela Merkel's CDU party, Elisabeth Winkelmeier-Becker, responded to the Ethics Council's vote saying that the abolition of the law against incest would give out the wrong signal. “Abolishing criminal punishment against incestuous actions within a family would go completely against protecting the undisturbed development of children,” she told Deutsche Welle. The Ethics Council’s recommendation only covered incest between siblings and members did not recommend decriminalising sex between parents and children. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/german-ethics-council-calls-for-incest-between-siblings-to-be-legalised-by-government-9753506.html I think the massage here is that the end of this world is at hand and we've got to amend our ways. |

Nigerian Professor Produces Antivirt, An Anti Viral Drug For Treating HIV AIDS. Despite doubts in some quarters about the authenticity of his claims, Professor Maduike Ezeibe of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, has insisted that his recent therapy for the dreaded HIV and AIDS is real and effective. The discovery of the therapy, Ezeibe said, was a major scientific breakthrough in the search for a cure to the global pandemic. He said after 19 years of hard work, he was able to discover the therapy and his research was eventually published in the British Journal of Medicine & Medical Research. The Professor of Veterinary Medicine, who obtained his first degree in same discipline at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1986, Masters in Ruminant Medicine, and doctorate degree in Canine Medicine all in UNN, said he moved to MOUAU on leave of absence. Speaking with Southern City News in his office, he said his research into the therapy known as ‘Antivirt’ (Anti-Viral Therapy), dated back to 1994 when he took the challenge to be part of the global solution to the HIV/AIDS scourge ravaging humanity. Ezeibe said his work had been published by the American-based medical journal known as The Health. He said he decided to publish his research work on the therapy so as to prove anyone who would doubt that a black man could develop HIV/AIDS cure, wrong. He boasted that the experiment remained authentic and verifiable in any part of the world. According to him, two essential minerals – aluminum silicate (kaolin) and magnesium silicate, used in the production of the therapy, have large deposits in Umuahia and parts of Abia State. This, he said, would make the therapy cheaper and more affordable than the old anti-retroviral therapy. He added that the therapy would take an average of two to three months to cure HIV/AIDS patient. http://nigeriana.org/143802.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Jetheights+%28Jobemy+Nigeria%29 The production of this drug is a welcome development; apart from the cure of HIV/AIDS, the export of this drug would be a means of foreign exchange for Nigeria. |

ISIS-linked Salafist group in Gaza threatens to kill ‘one by one’ all Hamas personnel in retaliation for arrests of some 40 of its members. 578476 Tensions between terror organizations Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and Hamas in Gaza have intensified in recent days, Maariv reported on Wednesday. Clashes apparently spiraled after Hamas demolished a mosque used by members of the Salafist organization called “Islamic State Supporters in Beit Al-Maqdis” as well as arrested nearly 40 of its members. Reportedly, Hamas arrested the dozens of Salafists as well as several prominent Islamic State preachers in Gaza, following the Islamic State takeover of Palestinian refugee camp Yarmouk, near Damascus. “After ISIS beheaded several Palestinian, including a senior Hamas official,” inside the camp in April, the International Business Times reported, “the Palestinian Intelligence agency swore that it would avenge the killing of its personnel.” In response, the ISIS-affiliated group in the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave called Hamas “worse than the Jewish and American occupiers” and issued a proclamation on Monday giving Hamas 72 hours to release its detained members. If not, the “ISIS Supporters in Beit Al-Maqdis” asserted they would kill, one by one, all of Hamas’ personnel. http://www.jewsnews.co.il/2015/05/07/isis-threatens-to-declare-war-on-hamas/ What a cheering news; let them kill themselves. |
The Parents of the missing Chibok girls are accusing the vice principal (academic) of the school in Borno where the teenage girls were kidnapped in 2014 of being somewhat involved in their kidnap image According to a report on Sahara Reporters, the parents claimed that the role of the vice principal Yerima Banjiri was questionable. They leveled the allegations while speaking to a SR correspondent One of the abducted girls mother, Mariam Abubakar, said the Vice Principal had told the school girls that any one of them who failed to sleep in the school the night of the abduction would be expelled “A week before their abductions, Malam Yerima threatened the students not to leave for their various homes. He said that whoever went home should forget she was ever a student at the school. He told the girls that none of them should go home, that they must sleep in the school. However, none of the teachers’ daughters or even the daughters of the management staff was among those kidnapped. Only the children of we poor people were asked to sleep in the school. The [teachers and administrators] had kept their children in safer places before Boko Haram arrived.” The distraught mother accused the vice president and possibly other staff of conniving with Boko Haram. “Our concern is that since the day of [the girls’] abduction, we have never set our eyes on Malam Yerima. He is on run,” Ms Abubakar said. A father of an abducted girl also criticized what he characterized as the Federal Government’s approach of levity in dealing with the abduction, said; “We have lost confidence in the Nigerian government’s, reaction to our missing children. Nobody asked any questions to the teachers. In fact they are moving free in cities. Why has the government not investigated any of the teachers?” he asked. One of the parents told SaharaReporters that they had been warned not to speak about their suspicion of the vice principal and other teachers and administrators. But several of the parents and relatives of the abducted girls said they had run out of patience after more than a year since the abductions with little or no hope of their daughters’ rescue. Her major aim was to make it difficult for him to unilaterally raise crude oil prices to $170 per barrel so that he would be presented to the country as impotent. Also, the plan would make his resolve to equal Naira and Dollar a mere fantasy like the PDP wanted. In effect, it was going to make his N5000 monthly allowance to 25 million poor families a difficulty as well as the building of four refineries in four years, N50K to corps members and a reduction of petrol prices to N40 per litre. In another news, months of investigation by EFCC, DSS and ICPC finds the following people innocent of ALL corruption charges – Bola Ahmed Tinubu – Babatunde Raji Fashola – Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi – Tanko Umaru Almakura – Bukola Saraki – Rauf Aregbesola – Rabiu Musa Kwnakwaso – Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha – Aliyu Wamako – Matthew Aremu Okikiola Olusegun Obasanjo These anti graft agencies were particular about Ahmed Bola Tinubu: They’ve asked AIT to officially write Tinubu an apology and confess to the public why they wrongly accused him of stealing Lagos billions and converting LASPOTHECH to TVC and RC. There has been an ongoing national argument on the reality of the oil subsidy which some eminent Nigerians have refuted against. Former petroleum minister Prof Tam David West breaks down his analysis of the falsehood behind the fuel subsidy that has only enriched a few rich and selfish individuals in Nigeria. See insightful details. 1) One barrel of Crude oil = 42 gallons or 159 litres 2) Our Refineries (i.e 4) Installed (combined) capacity = 445,000 barrels per day 3) Actual refineries capacity due to ageing equipment = 30% i.e. 133,500 barrels per day. 4) 133,500 barrels = 21.2 million litres 5) Local required consumption (F.O.S) = 12millions litres 6) It means that even our MORIBOND refineries can actually meet our local consumption need of petroleum. 7) The cost structure of crude oil (i.e. Qua Iboe Crude Oil) production; – Findings / development – $3.5 – Production cost – $1.5 – Refining Cost – $12.6 – Pipeline/transportation – $1.5 – Distr/bridging fund Margin -$15.69 True cost of one litre of petroleum anywhere in Nigeria; – Total sum cost = $34.8 – 1ltr cost = $34.8/159 litres = $0.219 – Naira equiv. 0.219xN160= N35.02k – Add Tax N5 + N35.02 = N40.02 9) Let FGN refute the above composition and if not, they should tell us how they came about N95/N85 litre. 10) Locally refined products cannot be sold at International price. 11) We really do not need FGN SUBSIDY as there was NONE in the first place. 12) What is LACKING, is the WILL to enforce LAW ON CORRUPTION. Pls re-post until it gets to the right quarters for their response; We still stand a chance as a COUNTRY. The general election in Nigeria was an eye-opener to many hidden issues. It can also be used as an effective yardstick for measuring the tempo of unity in Nigeria. Events in Nigeria took a dramatic turn around when the South-West comprising majorly of the Yorubas aligned with the All Progressives Congress despite the heavy amount of money President Goodluck Jonathan pumped into campaign here. A clue of that is the rumoured $250,000 he gave to the traditional rulers, as well as the staggering $100 million dollars given to Dr Doyin Okupe to secure the support of the Labour and Accord party in the South-West for him. A host of others could be mentioned but is not the subject matter of this piece. Despite the publicity of change garnished with acute propaganda by All Progressive Congress, the South-South which is the strong hold of the People’s Democratic Party never bought the idea of change. The Igbos never took a definite stand. The leaders of the Ndigbo communities in all the northern states pledged support to Muhammadu Buhari of APC. Buhari had several memorable campaign shows in Imo which is the abode of one of APC’s strong men Governor Ewele Rochas Okorocha. From the outward appearance, it was as if APC had secured the state. A week to the presidential elections, President Goodluck Jonathan also visited the state and was given a loud ovation by the chiefs and traditional rulers in the state. Pundits reported several contradictory positions of the Igbos concerning both parties until it was finally revealed at the collation centre on the 31st of March 2015. PDP recorded excellent results at the South East with the South South following suit while APC trailed PDP in defeat in those two geopolitical zones in Nigeria. This raised a feeling of betrayal among the Yorubas who felt the Igbos should have been on their side despite not benefiting anything tangible from the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. Buhari swept the South-West with the exception of Ekiti. To buttress my points, here are the official presidential election results from INEC. State. Buhari. Jonathan Abia. 13,394. 368,303 Adamawa. 374,701. 251,664 Akwa Ibom. 58,411. 953,304 Anambra. 17.926. 660,762 Bauchi. 931,598. 86,085 Bayelsa. 5,194. 361,209 Benue. 373,961. 303,737 Borno. 473,543. 25,640 Cross River. 28,368. 414,863 Delta. 48,910. 1,211,405 Ebonyi. 19,518. 323,653 Edo. 208,469. 286,869 Ekiti. 120,331. 176,466 Enugu. 14,157. 553,003 Gombe. 361,245. 96,873 Imo. 133,253. 559,185 Jigawa. 885,988. 142,904 Kaduna. 1,127,760. 484,085 Kano. 1,903,999. 215,779 Katsina. 1,345,441. 98,937 Kebbi. 567,883. 100,972 Kogi. 264,851. 149,987 Kwara. 302,146. 132,602 Lagos. 792,460. 632,327 Nassarawa. 236,838. 273,460 Niger. 657,678. 149,222 Ogun. 308,290. 207,950 Ondo. 299,889. 251,368 Osun. 383,603. 249,929 Oyo. 528,620. 303,376 Plateau. 429,140. 549,615 Rivers. 69,238. 1,487,075 Sokoto. 671,926. 152,199 Taraba. 261,326. 310,800 Yobe. 446,265. 25,526 Zamfara. 612,202. 144,833 FCT. 146,399. 157,195 Total. 15,424,921 12,853,162 Source: INEC From the above results, APC recorded a total loss at all the South Eastern states with questionable margins. APC is widely seen as a Yoruba and Northern people’s party due to the high level of domination of these two ethnic groups and the pivotal roles played by the members of these ethnic groups. The election result margin which signifies political support also reflects the degree of disunity in Nigeria. Only a few Igbos too have bought the slogan of change of the APC. This is my historical perspective of the looming apathy towards APC. The party comprises majorly of two ethnic groups the Igbos nurse bitterness against. These are the northerners and the Yorubas (South-West). As for the Yorubas, the seed of disunity has long been nursed. There has been a peaceful but bitter competition between the Igbos and the Yorubas. It is difficult to say if Igbo and Yoruba are friends or enemies or merely tolerating each other. On the surface, they seem to be friends, because you rarely hear of any clashes or killings between the two in over 100 years. People from the two ethnic groups work together, live together, laugh together, worship together, and play together. Everything seems all right. Nobody wants to be seen as publicly making any comment seen as tribalistic or intolerant. But if you look deeper, there seems to be something you cannot truly place a finger on. It’slike a volcano waiting for the least provocation to erupt. It only needs an excerpt from Chinua Achebe’s There Was a Country (a book) to be made public, or the infamous threat speech made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu about the Igbos perishing at the Lagos Lagoon if they failed to vote for the APC’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos and the Governor- elect Akinwunmi Ambode. This made the solemn disunity so pronounced as both agitating sides poured out the venom that has accumulated for ages. Historically, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr.Nnamdi Azikiwe and Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu consciously and unconsciously sowed the seed of discord between both ethnic groups with the political tussle they engaged in. Chinua Achebe died with a stormy anger against the Yorubas which he developed from the activities of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo during the civil war. “There Was a Country”, which was the recent work of Chinua Achebe gave an insight about the civil war era, faulting the role played by the Yoruba leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo which will be addressed with a linkage with the Igbo’s apathy towards the northerners. In July 1966, Lieutenant Muhammadu Buhari was one of the participants in a coup led by Lt-Col Murtala Muhammed that overthrew and assassinated Nigeria’s first self-appointed military Head of State General Aguiyi Ironsi. This created a long term hatred and distrust between the Igbos and Hausas. This was a retaliatory move after the incidence of the first military coup popularly termed an “Igbo coup” which led to the brutal murder of the Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. The January 1966 coup was carried out by mostly Igbo army officers including Major Kaduna Nzeogwu, Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna among others. The casualties of the coup included the Prime Minister Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Premier of the Western Region Samuel Akintola, the finance minister Festus Okotie-Eboh among others. Analytically, one can safely say it was a coup of the Igbos against the northerners (Hausas and Fulanis) in a bitter quest for political power because people from these two prominent geographical areas dominated the separate coups either as conspirators or victims. Here is a list of the conspirators: Maj. Kaduna Nzeogwu (Igbo) Maj. Timothy Onwuatuegwu (Igbo) Maj. Emmanuel Ifeajuna (Igbo) Maj. Chris Anuforo (Igbo) Maj. Don Okafor (Igbo) Maj. Adewale Ademoyega (Yoruba) Maj. Humphrey Chukwuka (Igbo) Capt. Emmanuel Nwobosi (Igbo) Capt. Ben Gbulie (Igbo) Capt. Ogbu Oji (Igbo) The other point is the Biafran war saga that lasted for 3 years, 6th of July 1967 to 15th of January 1970. General Yakubu “Jack” Dan-Yumma Gowon was the head of state (Head of the Federal Military Government) of Nigeria from 1966 to 1975 during the civil war crisis. He prevented the igbos from secceeding. Till date the Igbos feel they would have strived better being apart. They felt marginalised by the rulership of the northern-dominated administration in Nigeria. From 1968 onward, the civil war fell into a form of stalemate, with Nigerian forces unable to make significant advances into the remaining areas of Biafran control due to stiff resistance and major defeats in Abagana, Arochukwu, Oguta, Umuahia (Operation OAU), Onne, Ikot Ekpene, etc. Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a yoruba man who was most notable as the outstanding first premier of the Western Region but was also a successful federal commissioner for finance and vice president of the Federal Executive Council in the civil war suggested to Gowon to cut the food supplies of the Biafran army who were relying on Nigeria for food. During this turbulent period, another Nigerian offensive from April to June 1968 began to close the ring around the Biafrans with further advances on the two northern fronts and the capture of Port Harcourt on 19 May 1968. The blockade of the surrounded Biafrans led to a humanitarian disaster when it emerged that there was widespread civilian hunger and starvation in the besieged Igbo areas. The Biafran government reported that Nigeria was using hunger and genocide to win the war, and sought aid from the outside world. Private groups in the US, led by Senator Ted Kennedy, responded. No one was ever held responsible for these killings. Federal Military Government surrounded Biafra, capturing coastal oil facilities and the city of Port Harcourt. The blockade imposed during the ensuing stalemate led to severe famine accomplished deliberately as a war strategy and described by some as a genocide. Over the two and half years of the war, two million civilians died from forced famine and fighting. Can you see things from my view point now? A painful memory was created by political actors from the three ethnic groups. This has been passed down from one generation to another. I have an Igbo friend who virtually had nothing against Muhammadu Buhari prior to the elections, but claimed he would rather see President Goodluck Jonathan sell this country rather than accept a northerner as the Nigerian leader. Another case is that of a church member from an Igbo family. The family was quite impoverished, benefitted next to nothing from the Jonathan’s regime but still voted for him. He went for Buhari which was heavily frowned at by his family members. He brought my awareness to this. This prompted me to start this research into history. This is my own perspective of the root of the apathy. In social science which deals with human behaviours, there is no definite answer to problems like we have in the physical sciences. Whether my claims are valid or too subjective, I want to urge all the ethnic groups to bury the hatchet. There is a need for us to forget the happenings of the past because some of them are clouding our current judgment of issues. This is adversely affecting the future of the country. Tribal differences and interests have prevented us from speaking in one voice. Decisions are no more taken for the general will of the state but to satisfy sectional interests. We cannot change the past but we can affect the future with our actions and build a bright future for generations to come. Nursing bitterness about the past is a bad legacy to leave for the coming generation. This was the samething I told a friend who questioned my support for Buhari. He said I should hate him for making that infamous statement about PDP using corpers to rig elections. This endangered my life because I was serving in Bauchi state in the year 2011. We lost about 15 corpers due to a mere baseless talk. I had to forget the past and give him my support during the presidential election because the general interest of the masses is at stake. The future of the country is paramount in my heart. Unity is all we need for a formidable developmental force. Seccession is the worst option. This will lead to a mutual assured destruction (MAD). All the conflicting parties will break way permanently maimed with a huge set back. Thanks for reading thus far. Osayimwen Osahon George Senior Online Editor & Political Scientist nigeriana.org/134979.html From the above writ-up, I think we have a long way to go on Nigeria's unity. |

..Surely the Biafrans are.
