I think we should be asking ourselves which way we are heading to? Does it mean that the flood would wash us into the Atlantic ocean or what? What is happening in Nigeria calls for sober reflection. Who knows, it could be signs of end time.
PoliticsTraditional Ruler Drowns In Delta Floods by impetus(op): 1:31pm On Oct 04, 2012
The heavy flooding across many cities and communities in Nigeria is showing no signs of abating.

In Delta State, an additional 120 communities have been hit hard by the floods. In fact, so severe was the flood in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, that a traditional ruler reportedly drowned when the boat in which he was being evacuated from his flooded community capsized.

According to a villager who confirmed the incident, the name of the royal father cannot be disclosed now due to some traditional reasons.

Chairman of the Flood Disaster Committee and deputy governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, who briefed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday, on the activities of the committee, said the flood disaster was getting worse in the state. In all, over 220 communities in Delta have been affected with Aboh, Oko Kingdom and Gbelekor communities being some of the worst hit.

Utuama said that the committee was working hard to curtail the flood’s effect by visiting the affected coastal areas, opening of rehabilitation camps and ensuring that relief materials were distributed to the rehabilitation camps.

On his part, Gov. Uduaghan decried the nonchalant attitude of the local government areas to the flood disaster. He said that that it was the responsibility of the councils to cater for displaced persons in their jurisdictions.

These guys are very funny, how can they compare Nigeria with developed countries? Things that works there don't work here. If Lagos wants to be a country of its own, they should say it out. I wouldn't be surprise if they ask their residents to change their names to Yoruba names. The presidency is very weak, looks like Lagos state is taking advantage of the presidency's weakness.

I have been dating this about a year and half guy who was born into a catholic family but later went to stay his inlaw who is a redeem pastor who refused bluntly that he must follow them, which he did. And now he has established and he wants to marry me who is a stung catholic and he said I have to follow him to his church of which I refused cos am bigoted in my believe a charismatic I told him that I can't be happy elsewhere apart from my church instead he should continue in his own and even when kids come he could take them along and he still maintains I follow him.
My breath en to tell u the truth I have tried oher churches out ther I don't seem to be happy there is in only my church as a prayer warrior I found true happiness to cut the whole story short am forced to quit the marriage pls a need your candid advice here.
Pls no insults here thanks.
I do understand ur situation as a staunch catholic but u have to know that women dont have their church until they marry. From what u wrote, the man is not ready to leave his church nor does he wants you to remain in ur church. In this case, u either follow the man to his church for him to marry u or u forget about him and look for a catholic man that would marry u. A lot of ladies in the past has because this issue missed their husbands. My wife was a catholic, we wedded in my church, she was admitted into my church and she attends my church. My advice is if u really love the man, then follow him to his church and marry him cos in marriage, u cant get all u want or desire, a lot of sacrifices has to be made from both sides and that's where the Love, tolerance and understanding comes in. In addition, pray and fast about it for God to decide for u. I wish u well. Cheerio.

So in these case, who is the loser? Back in school then, after rioting, the school would impose high levy on us of which every student must pay. I just wish the students wouldn't destroy much. Besides the diseased is a fucking cultist that was trying to extort money. I hope the students should learn from this.

PoliticsSteer Clear Of Orient Petroleum, Anambra Youths Warn Kogi, Enugu States by impetus(op): 1:57pm On Sep 18, 2012
BY VINCENT UJUMADU

AWKA -THE youth wing of Association of Anambra Town Unions, ASATU, yesterday warned Kogi and Enugu states, which are laying claims to the oil deposits in Anambra State to steer clear of the newly-commissioned Orient Petroleum at Aguleri Otu in Anambra East Local Government Area or be prepared for a showdown.

Rising from a meeting in Awka, the youths said, it amounted to bad blood for the two states to want to reap from where they did not sow.

The youths described as unfortunate, a situation wherethe two states waited while successive administrations in Anambra State made effective investments towards the realisation of Orient Petroleum, only to show up when success had been achieved.

President of the association, Mr. Osita Ozalagba, said what was needed in the area after many years of toiling by the people of Anambra State to realise the project was peace and urged agitators not to distract the company and its operations.

The association also urged youths in Aguleri Otu, where Orient Petroleum is situated not to allow violence to defeat the economic benefits, assuring that Anambra youths would assist in ensuring adequate security of lives and property in the area.

“It is on record that successive administrations in Anambra State had sacrificed and invested greatly towards the success story of Orient Petroleum and it is therefore, surprising that these two states (Kogi and Enugu) suddenly woke up from their slumber to begin to lay claims to what is not theirs. Our humble advice to the two states is for them to mobilise their resources towards striking oil in their own land instead of playing the role of meddlesome interlopers.”

These people want to reap where they did not sow. I wonder where they were when my State was investing time, money and energy in this project. They should build their own refinery and start producing since they claim to be oil producing state.

To me this JTF are not trying. I read this story and i became angry with them.

Am not trying to justify what the criminals are doing but the governments are talking of building new refineries so that they can stop importing refined product. The JTF are not suppose to destroy those illegal refineries, they should be developed and turn it into a legal refinery that will help our economy there by promoting our technology. Nigerians are talented, don't be suprise if they want to build a new refinery, they will import foreign contrators. They will even spend a lot of money, when we have refinery builders in Nigeria. What we are looking for in sokoto is in our shokoto. My dear nairalanders, what do u think?
Do not blame JTF, they are acting on orders by the government, blame the government that could not provide jobs.

@ dedeike:
Exactly my questions too. If anything, most of NUPENG's members work in Rivers state. Can they say the PDP government in the state led by Chuibike Rotimi Amaechi is their problem?
Can they also say that in AKWA IBOM , where most of their members operate, that PDP has failed?

We must learn to be objective and desist from playing politics with development. Every party has its own fair share of the good, bad and ugly.
If we are to rank 5 topmost performing governors, PDP will come in with three AKPABIO, AMAECHI, CHIME,. ACN will come in with FASHOLA while ROCHAS comes in for APGA.

The most performing Governor in the North is Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa of PDP. Not CPC or ANPP.

At the national level, we have not seen another party in power so as to draw objective comparisons. But if the Tinubu's style of leadership in the south West is anything to go by, then I pray we never have the misfortune of an ACN presidency.

Even if the most performing Governor comes from pdp, once he becomes the president, the whole story would change. GEJ is an example. The problem is pdp and not individual. We need to flush out pdp from this country cos they are calamity to us.

Anambra State. I am ashamed of you people. I am from Enugu and the only kidnapping case i know of in Enugu was committed by Two Anambra people and one man from delta state. When other tribes talk about the kidnapping cases, you attack them. Why ?
Why do you folks believe that money is everything? Who instilled this senseless and dangerous ideology in your core culture?
Just because of Range sport and Escalade, you kidnap and kill your fellow human being.

What is the problem? Niger delta militants started kidnapping foreigners for a reason. What is your own reason? Money is my best guess. Money right?
Anambra state, you boast of Azikiwe, Ekwueme, Ifeanyi Ubah, capital oil. You boast of Ikemba, Author Eze, Osita Osadebe, Oliver de Coque, Mikel Obi, Achebe, Ibeto, Chike Obi,Emeka Ofor, Andy Uba, Soludo, You are the highest producer of bread - Agulu town, etc etc. Which other state in Nigeria can boast of more powerful individuals ? My guess is none.
In Enugu, a neighbouring state, tell me two powerful individuals you know.. Yet your people flooded the Enugu city to hide and rest after commiting crimes all over the place.
You even kidnap your Igwes, traditional rulers, you kidnap Rev. Fathers, You kidnap school Children, you kidnapped Soludo's father, you kidnapped and killed God is good motors, you kidnapped and killed Obilinks, all these people are your brothers. You kidnapped my elder Brother Albert, who lives in Onitsha and i have not seen him since then. My mom has been praying against you folks and sooner or later, curses will be upon you. Flood will carry your houses, erosion will damage your lands.

Was it because of the civil war? Then why not start kidnapping The Alhajis. Atleast send a message to them that you are not happy about what happened.
Was it Awolowo, grow up and move on or start kidnapping the Kabyesis, send them a message . Why kidnap your fellow Igbo business men who are struggling to establish themselves since the war ended ?
The truth is that you are cursed. You manipulate business in Onitsha, Nnewi and even Lagos, you see even the other Igbo traders as inferiors. While Enugu and Imo is fast developing in infrastructure and Agriculture, you develop in criminology. You forge results, cheat on exams, abuse Abakiliki and wawa people, abuse other tribes, yorubas and hausas and kidnap your own brothers and sisters. Your time is up because, the campaign to correct all this will kick off soon.

@ Kobojunkie:
Whenever I get this sort of question, I wonder what the IQ of the person asking the question is @Poster. To marry a nagging wife in this day and age, one would have had to court that woman for a period. Now, if the man in question, DURING COURTSHIP, blindly focused on the ideals such as her beauty, her loving behaviors towards him, her helping him etc. and not on the major qualities that really matter when it comes to living with another being. She was probably 'nagging' him during the courtship too but he was likely more focused on making sure he got attention from her more than she gave anyone else. So why did he change focus from that which he loved of her, in the beginning,AFTER marrying her? That is usually the question that pops in my mind and I think that is the question you ought to ask him @Poster.

The poster needs solutions to his challenges and not your criticism. After all some ladies pretends, no matter the amount of years you court them, they wont show their ugly side till after wedding. Lets come up with solution and not crucifying the poster.

PoliticsSo Jonathan Won’t Create Jobs Again by impetus(op): 1:50pm On Jul 26, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan said recently that he would no longer focus attention on creating jobs in the country because of security challenges confronting Nigeria. The President was at the 60th National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party when he made the pronouncement. One would have to check the books to find out what else presidents create, if they don’t create jobs. Actually, there were two things he said at the meeting: Nigerians should not expect him to fulfil his election promises, as well as implement his party manifesto on job creation and power supply. Two, he compared the performance of the current administration and that of his party with the worst case possible, not the best, and scored himself a pass mark. One could take a closer look at the latter, for starters.

“We know what is happening in other African countries,” the President had said. “If the ruling party over-intimidates and over-imposes, using the weight of the Federal Government and the citizens revolt, it will weaken the political system and create confusion and instability. But the PDP, even though, we control the Federal Government, we operate a system that even the opposition, fly higher than us. They abuse us more, but we allow it. And it is the way the PDP is handling the affairs of the country that is stabilising democracy in the country.” Good. But placing that side by side with other African countries is not. One would assume a look at advanced democracies is where to draw comparisons, and thus aim for the best for Nigeria. The President went on to lament the loss by his party in some states during the general elections. And he realised everyone could be swept away if his party exerts itself, and he therefore made a promise: The party would not use its federal might against other political parties because “we witnessed what happened in the first republic.” It is good politicians are proclaiming that they have learnt from the past. But then, even all of that amounts to veiled threats, a reason Nigerians would want to be more on their guard. It is only here leaders say they choose not to rig elections and expect anyone to shower them with praises. Surely, Nigerians were not among those that must have clapped that time at the meeting where their President renewed his vow never to rig elections, only his party members were.

And there is the second issue. Development plan for the country that the President said is scuttled as things stand, because of security challenges. “During the [presidential] campaign, our emphasis was more on job creation, power, but now what worries us most is security. This is because you must be alive before you will eat food.” He gave a description, too, that security is “very, very fundamental. If you are not safe, you can’t even think of hunger because a dead person does not need food.” There is no point stating that this is an oversimplification of a complex issue, because thorough thinking of issues involved would show that what the President said he would be too preoccupied to focus on, is one of the remote causes of the current security challenges. The not- so-disciplined tend to find negative jobs for themselves, when positive ones are not available.

Nigerians would recall their leader had once announced that the plan for the introduction of palliatives measures after the removal of fuel subsidy was scuttled. Discerning minds are taking notes of what their leader said but later took back. If an analyst among the President’s men does not take notes of such as a sign of weakness, of lack of a well-articulated plan before policy pronouncements were made, he will take notes of nothing. Now the issues are simple: Does anyone consider the implications of a statement such as this on Nigerians? Does anyone consider the implications of this on the enemies of Nigeria? Here, there is a need to do a comparison in order to see, if the President and his political team that seemed to have agreed with him that implementing a party manifesto would neither be their focus nor job creation be their worry, have concrete reasons.

Nigeria would not be the first country to have security challenges. The September 11 attacks transformed the first term of President George W. Bush and led to what he has called the Global War on Terrorism. Many were never so sure if the campaign to deal with terrorists should have been called, “war.” But the US government increased military operations, introduced new economic measures and put political pressure on groups it accused of being terrorists, as well as on governments and countries accused of sheltering them. It indeed went to war in October 2001 in Afghanistan in order to remove the Taliban regime which harboured al-Qaeda and to capture al-Qaeda forces. Bush did not get his prize — Osama bin Laden — for the remaining seven years he stayed in office, President Barack Obama who succeeded him did. The aftermath of the terror issue for the US was far-reaching. The nation was shaken to its root. There were, of course, the security, economic and political implications, as well as having to expend resources on the international scene to achieve security for its citizens. Yet, although the economic situation kept the rate of employment relatively high in the Bush years, it was nothing comparable to what obtains in the Obama administration that is not as threatened, security-wise, as Bush after September 2011.

As a matter of fact, and so far, the employment statistics during Bush’s period in office continue to look better than those under Obama’s to date. During Bush’s tenure, the private sector lost a net 646,000 jobs. In contrast, under President Obama’s administration, the private sector has still lost a net 549,000 private sector jobs. One had more security challenges than the other, yet, he came out well off. It was because he didn’t give in to despondency, and he did not capitulate to terrorists, giving excuse that security challenges would not let him do anything else. Furthermore, under Obama, the private sector has eliminated nine jobs for every job it created under Bush. While the private sector job outlook has improved recently, the economy still must create 549,000 private sector jobs to break even. Significantly, January 2012 was the first month in which the overall number of jobs lost during the Obama administration was lower than the number lost during the Bush administration. And the unemployment rate is still about a percentage point worse today than it was during Bush’s last full month in office.

One thing that could be stated is this: The kind of statement attributed to Jonathan, is to say the least, daring, and it can only be made in a nation where politicians depend on everything other than the votes of the electorate to remain in office. In the US, no sitting President since Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930s and early 1940s has won re-election when unemployment was over 7.2 per cent on election day. In fact, the challenges that Roosevelt met when he arrived office was such that Americans were committing suicide. Then existing economic and financial challenges at the time were security threats to his nation. One of the earliest and most successful things Roosevelt did was to put his citizens back to work; it was one of the reasons he remained the only American president elected four times into office. Yet, Nigeria’s President said job creation can go to sleep. This is a depressing statement, scary in a nation where citizens keep hoping that the government would do all it can to create room for them to have jobs. And this is a pronouncement that can serve to bolster the resolve of terrorists, knowing they have succeeded in distracting the government, which was their aim right from the word go. Does any Nigerian recollect his President saying during his last media chat that not travelling out of the country to attend an earth conference in Rio, Brazil, would send wrong signals to terrorists and investors?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Russia Sign Capello On Two-year Deal by impetus(op): 1:32pm On Jul 26, 2012
Fabio Capello has been appointed as Russia's new coach today. There had been much speculation the former England boss was among the favourites for the vacant job and a Russian Football Union spokesman confirmed to Press Association Sport that he has signed a two-year deal.

The Italian succeeds Dick Advocaat, who took charge of Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven after Russia were eliminated in the group stages of UEFA EURO 2012.

Capello, who resigned as England manager in February, was earlier this month on a shortlist of 13 candidates for the job, with Harry Redknapp and former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola also mentioned by the RFU. But speculation has grown since that the 66-year-old was their man and he is now set to complete the formalities, with a press conference scheduled for this afternoon.

The RFU will hope Capello will prosper after Russia started promisingly at the European Championship, by beating Czech Republic 4-1, before being eliminated after a draw with co-hosts Poland and a defeat to Greece.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, revealed on Friday that the command has arrested three persons, including a retired naval officer, for allegedly possessing 8,450 live cartridges.

Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters, Ikeja, Manko said that the ammunition was smuggled through Seme, a border town in Lagos.

He said that the ammunition was intercepted by police officers from the Trade Fair Police Division on stop and search patrol.

“The police intercepted one white Volkswagen bus with registration number XT 537 LSD, loaded from Seme Boarder en route Balogun Market at Trade Fair Complex, Lagos,” he said. “Based on suspicion, the said vehicle was brought to the station and a search was conducted.

26 cartons of live cartridges concealed in T-shirts bags out of 28 bags found in the said vehicle were recovered. A Navy Warrant Officer’s uniform, a bag of beans, ID card, beret and shoes were also recovered inside the vehicle.”

The police boss said that investigation into the case had taken his officers to Onitsha, Anambra State, where one of the owners of the consignment was arrested.

Manko said that the suspect attempted to bribe the officers with the sum of N61, 200 before he was arrested and brought to Lagos.

He assured that effort would be intensified to arrest the three fleeing suspects

PoliticsSuicide Bomber Targets Mosque In Maiduguri. by impetus(op): 5:27pm On Jul 13, 2012
A suicide bomber has killed five people at the central mosque in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, the military has said, the latest attack in a region plagued by Islamist group, Boko Haram.

"Five people have been killed and six others injured in the Maiduguri central mosque suicide bomb attack," military
spokesman Sagir Musa told reporters on Friday.

The attack narrowly missed the deputy governor of Borno state, Zanna Umar Mustapha, and Borno's Shehu (regional
religious leader), Abubakar Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, who were attending Muslim Friday prayers.

"The suicide bomber, who was about 15 years old, was pushed between me and the Shehu before detonating the bomb. Fortunately we both escaped unhurt," Mustapha told reporters.

Boko Haram has killed hundreds of people this year in an insurgency against President Goodluck Jonathan, seeking to carve out an Islamic state in Africa's most populous country and biggest oil producer.

The sect often targets government officials, religious figures and places of worship, usually Christian churches.

Boko Haram claimed responsibility for attacks that killed more than 65 people in volatile central Nigeria last weekend.
