Eko Atlantic#:I have my father but I just knew that a ram is urs. I still insist on all well meaning Nigerians and Africans to fast and pray for this lunatic so that he would be delivered from bondage and the yokes of the enemies. |
Eko Atlantic: Useless site from village web designer. This guy could be a lunatic, I think he should be barricaded cos he needs serious medical (mentally) attention. He also needs our prayers for fast recovering form his illness. I appeal to all well meaning Nigerians to fast and pray for him. |
The man is so anti-people in all his policies. It was he that said during the fuel subsidy period early the year, 'that he can't remember the last time he even had to queue up to buy fuel in a filling station. It was still him that nursed the introduction of N5000 Naira Note, but for the intervention of the National Assembly. Now he is calling for the sack of 50% civil servants in the country. Imagine what our society will look like when civil servants are asked to go home. What will happen to their children in schools, their productivity, the increase in crime, adding to the one we are already suffering in the hands of Boko Harams and the likes....... Please we need to verify whether this man is a Nigerian and whether has the interest of Nigeria at heart. All his policies are targeted at inflicting pains on the masses. SANUSI SHOULD GO!!!!! http://www..com/talk/topic,137712.0.html He also initiated Islamic banking. I think this malam's mission is to destroy the economy of this country. |
This could be a faction that broke away from Boko Haram. |
Donmeca: Thank u jare! The faceless nature of Nairaland has made it possible for everybody to claim authority in every matter. Imagine that boy claiming there are no cultists in anti-cult! Who then do u settle to prevent campus wars? I deliberately did not want to mention names of men Ilochi arm-twisted out of SUG politics: Yellow Dog, Olumo, etc. Olumo's protege, Ikoro E. Ikoro was almost rusticated for not stopping the student protest of 2002. Served an indefinite suspension that was only reduced by the court of law. Today Ikoro and co are PDP top-dogs in Anambra. So Ilochi is a bit doomed politically. Kizito, a second year student (elected D.O.T) was installed as the SUG presido by Ilochi. He ran the office for 2 years (without elections) and later became P.A to d VC Ilochi. That was autocratic! Ilochi Killed unionism in Awka.Guy, I can see that ure an Archival in Ilya Du Hama, don't mind most of the people here, some of them were admitted in the 2000's. They don't really know the politics of Unizik. Although Ilochi tried in up grading Unizik, the foundations were laid by Pita Ejiofor. Ilochi succeeded in killing student unionism (no more kpaga kpo go, no more aluta). I can't believe that the Unizik I graduated is no longer Alutarising. Ilochi stepped on many toes, his political ambition in Anambra is doomed and he knows it. |
Below is Patrick Obahiagbon's comment about our Pastors and politicians. 'I cast my vote for Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah and Pastor Tunde Bakare in their demosthenic vitriol against spiritual megalomaniacs whose modus vivendi has become increasingly byzantine and repulsively narcissistic. We must all begin to deprecate this razzmatazz and Nestorian braggadocio in the "HOUSE OF GOD" because when there is no difference between the values of a Pastor and a typical Nigerian Politician, then it's truly a bolekaja ambience.....' http://www.talkofnaija.com/index.php/component/noticeboard/?view=noticeboard&id=1915 With hid appointment as the Chief-of-Staff, those going to the government house should be advised to go with many dictionaries. |
Donmeca: Keep quiet! U are warning him like u are one of d current cultists in d anti-cult squad. When did u join Unizik? Do u know Ilochi? Do u know Pita Ejiofo? We all know that before u dreamt of joining UNIZIK, anti-cult squad was in existence and that both cultists and ex-cultists were in d anti-cult squad. Where were u when cultists were granted amnesty in Unizik (1999/2000-2000/2001)? Guy u said it all. Ikoro and a lot of students were frustrated by Ilochi administration, the same Ikoro became Special Adviser to Tony Nwoye then Chairman of PDP care taker committee. Some of the frustrated students were influential members of PDP, so they in revenge obstructed Ilochi's political ambition . From the days of Prof. Nwako as VC, Prof. Pita Ejiofor before Prof. Ilochi till date, members of anti cult comprises cultist, military men that were students, SSS men that were student and non cultist. |
yuzedo: Professor Ilochi Okafor (SAN) is a Professor of Law and immmediate past Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.Anti cult has been in UNIZIK before Ilochi became VC. I was in final yr when he was made VC, he was too authoritative, disregards student and lecturers. However, he contributed to the upgrading Unizik which was achieved by more than 200% increment of sch fees. The increment of sch fees led to student protest and a lot of sch facilities were destroyed especially in faculty of law ( he was former dean faculty of law before his appointment as VC). Who knows what might has led to his kidnap? |
A man in the Nigerian city of Suleja has approved of sexual relations between his 39-year-old wife and 19 years old son, saying there is nothing wrong with it. Towing the same line of thought, the son and wife equally see nothing wrong in their incestuous relationship. Mr. Audu Ibrahim, a resident of Bakassi area of Suleja, a prominent city in Niger State and neighbour to Abuja, the Nigerian capital, claims to be too busy to have time to satisfy the emotional needs of his wife, Sophia. He, therefore sees nothing wrong in his son Umar playing that role in the life of Sophia, who is his stepmother. http://www.talkofnaija.com/index.php/component/noticeboard/?view=noticeboard&id=1056 This is an abomination. I think this is sign of end time. |
With an estimated 60 million unemployed persons representing nearly one-third of the country’s population, human capacity development is being seriously endangered. This situation is not only making a mockery of Nigeria’s so-called vision of becoming one of the 20 leading economies in the world by the year 2020, but also threatening national security as obviously the nation seems to be sitting on a keg of gunpowder likely to explode at any time with devastating consequences. But more astonishing is the recent disclosure by a human resource company, Employment Clinic, that the government spends N960 billion annually on artisans from abroad to work in the country. Unfortunately, the Nigerian education system is still structured to prepare graduates for employment in an over-saturated labour market in which organisations or establishments in both public and private sectors of the national economy are cutting jobs while the concept of self employment remained a novelty. Although the tertiary education system is only now trying to embrace entrepreneurial skills development to tackle problem of unemployment among graduates, the nation is still far from the ideal of education for employment, that is knowledge for practical action. The present realities make this style of going to school in order to be employed after graduation no longer fashionable. The unemployment situation is worsening with every passing day moreso as thousands of graduates are being churned out from tertiary institutions yearly to besiege those already hopelessly waiting for employment and roaming our streets searching for means of earning a living. For some years now, we have piled graduates upon graduates mortgaging the nation’s future and our children’s future for the greed, avarice and planlessness of our leaders through bad governance. The enormity of unemployment challenge which has become a colossal one – a socio-economic affliction of great proportions can be illustrated most vividly when out of the 13,000 applications received by the Dangote Group of Companies for Graduate Executive Truck Drivers, there were six Ph.D, 704 Masters and over 8,460 Bachelor degree holders. Most astonishing was the fact that the company only needed 100 drivers but got 13,000 applications, most of them from reputable universities. According to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, more than 41% of Nigerian graduates are without employment after the mandatory National Youth Service Corps engagement. The National Bureau of Statistics said over 50% of youths in Nigeria are jobless, while the World Bank puts the figure at 56%. Considering the country’s estimated population of about 167 million and 60 million jobless, these are grim figures portending danger to economic growth and development of a nation with the largest concentration of black people on earth. Perhaps worried that the youths are at the receiving end of this unemployment scourge, President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration came up with an initiative of youth entrepreneurship in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Communication and Technology, Ministry of Youth development and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development called “The Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YOUWIN)”. This will help to generate jobs by encouraging and supporting ambitious and creative enterprising young men and women to develop and implement business ideas for job creation. It is envisaged that over a 3-year period in which the second cycle will be completed in 2013 (September) between 80,000 to 320,000 new jobs will be created at cost of N10 billion. In addition, the Federal Government said it has given over 1,000 youths who distinguished themselves after screening and training offered them in various vocations a take-off grant of about N1 billion to actualise their aspirations. President Jonathan and Emeka Nwogu, Minister of Labour and Productivity. while at the the background job seekers scramble for few job opportunities. There is also Women and Youths Employment project carried out under the subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment programme targeting employment for over 300,000 unskilled youths, women and the disabled each year. Some experts doubt the sustainability of these initiatives and whether they can be permanent bearing in mind the failure of the Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) and the Micro Finance Bank initiative launched in 2005. Invariably, all these are mere palliatives, only trying to scratch the surface of the unemployment problem. Government can arrange special stimulus packages to several companies and conglomerates operating in Nigeria from oil to telecom, construction and manufacturing to expand and provide employment to qualified youths. Government should engage in specific projects with the objective of creating jobs. Areas begging for massive investment include infrastructure like roads, electricity, housing, agriculture, railways, environmental sanitation, bridges, water and refineries. Others are education, health, petrochemicals, mining, excavation, as all these projects have potential to create millions of jobs. An American scholar puts it succinctly in this way: ”One of the unwritten and unspoken commonplaces lying at the root of modern academic policy is that the various universities are competitors for the traffic of merchantable instruction in much the same fashion as rival establishments in the retail trade compete for customers.” The school system comprising primary, secondary and tertiary is not providing patriotic, productive, self-actualising, creative thinking individuals, while at the same time, the various regulatory agencies have failed to set standards and to ensure compliance at all times. President Obama once said that the American youth needs education that will make them possess 21st century skills like problem solving and critical thinking, entrepreneurship and creativity. This is because economic progress and educational achievement have always gone hand in hand. It was the belief of Professor Julius Ihonvbere while delivering a Foundation Day Lecture of Lead City University, Ibadan, that Nigerian youths need even a higher level of that standard, especially in this internet age. “Rancid educational and economic policies that pay cursory attention to unemployment, coupled with unyielding and formidable peer pressure, are combined attractions for crime for the present day youth.” It was noted that the leaders are no longer trusted and the mill of the antisocials enlarges by the day. No wonder we have armed robbers, political thugs, kidnappers, religious/tribal fanatics, drug couriers, yahoo yahoo boys all of them designed to cut corners. And they all passed through one school or the other. Against this background, there is urgent need for massive employment in order to check youth restiveness. A nation not interested in developing the youth (as is the case of Nigeria), will only be stranded in the earliest forms of pre-industrial and primitive stages of existence. According to Ihonvbere, it is wicked for present day public office holders to insist that fresh graduates must be self employed without the enabling environment. In civilised world, it is the duty of government to ignite such a revolution in the youth. None of the big economies which Nigeria aspires to be part, leaves her productive sectors to the vagaries of market forces just like that. Saturday Vanguard investi-gation showed most graduates of higher education are still looking for jobs rather than create jobs. Only about one out of one thousand graduates of Nigerian tertiary institutions get employment. The low level of entrepreneurial zeal among graduates of higher education can be attributed as the main reason why they are not starting their own businesses coupled with inability to access loans provided by some banks, especially bank of industry. “In fact, the major challenge is the take-off capital or seed money required for some of these graduates in moving forward,” declared Engr. B.A. Odufuwa, Chairman, Governing Council, Lagos City Polytechnic in the 5th Convocation address. Many eminent persons and scholars have also pointed to entrepreneurship education as a bail out from unemployment. The Vice Chancellor, Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Prof Tolu Odugbemi affirmed that one major outstanding feature of the institution is the emphasis on entrepreneurial training and skill development for the students. “Our students are being trained in over 20 various vocational skills aside from their normal academic pursuit to make them self-reliant, independent and job creators after their graduation,” he told this writer recently. He expressed concern over the teeming number of graduates produced annually by universities without employment opportunities. Similarly, Covenant University, Ota, runs a Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies (CEDS) aimed to develop capacity to nurture the talents and ideas of students to create and sustain businesses and become creators of jobs, not job seekers. Prof. Pat Utomi, at the 4th Convocation Lecture of Redeemer’s University, titled “Entrepreneurship as panacea for unemployment in the 21st century – The Role of the University”, said that entrepreneurship is a fundamental part of our human dignity and it goes beyond passing a course but using what one has learnt and apply the knowledge in what one is primarily engaged in to create value and wealth. On the other hand, it is believed that federal government’s 2013 budget would not favour job creation needed to tackle unemployment as allocations to infrastructure such as electricity, roads, etc are grossly inadequate. It was also noted by stakeholders that banks have zero tolerance for risk and this is stifling private sector growth and capacity of entrepreneurs to create jobs. Lack of skills has been identified as the reason many of our graduates are unemployable in the first place. According to a human capital development expert, Mr. Williams Ibiyinka, there is a clear difference between acquiring university education and acquiring skills. Human capital or skill development is another strategy to reduce unemployment in this country. A lot of stakeholders want efforts to be intensified to ensure that youths are productively engaged and government provides necessary infrastructure to establish small and medium enterprises so as to reduce unemployment. Again poverty level seemed to have risen, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The Statistician-General of Nigeria, Dr. Yemi Kale was reported in the press as saying: “It remains a paradox that despite the fact that the Nigerian economy is growing, the proportion of Nigerians living in poverty is increasing every year. This trend may have increased further if the potential positive impacts of several anti-poverty and employment generation intervention programmes are not taken into account.” If the federal government is sincere with promises being made to provide millions of job for the unemployed, then the nation should be seeing signs towards that direction. “But what we have are mere slogans without concrete actions to show as the unemployment situation worsened. I left school since 2006, till today nothing to do. I don’t have sufficient capital to go into productive business,” laments Mr. Tuoyo Paul, an accounting graduate of University of Benin. Another engineering graduate of University of Ibadan who has spent the past five years going about looking for employment (names not disclosed) said the situation is highly frustrating and embarrasing. “Most employers give conditions like obtaining second class upper, not above 25 years and some years of experience. It’s just too bad.” The construction sector, agriculture, environment, housing, can throw up thousands of jobs for youths if government can harness the potentials for national development. “But government has left these options open to foreigners to exploit at the expense of our teeming young population seriously trapped by unemployment,” said Rotimi Funsho, an economist. http://jetheights.com/unemployment-nigeria-is-sitting-on-a-keg-of-gun-powder.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Jetheights+%28Jet+Heights%29&utm_content=Yahoo!+Mail Things has really fallen apart to the extend that there is no center. The rate of unemployment has gone so astronomically and government is lackadaisical about addressing it. I think what the government needs to do is to fix the power sector, this will go a long way in reducing unemployment since almost every industry depends on power. I don't think Nigeria would be able to survive the explosion of this keg of gun-powder if no drastic steps are taken to avert it. |
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israel bombarded the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip with nearly 200 airstrikes early Saturday, the military said, widening a blistering assault on militant rocket operations to include the prime minister's headquarters, a police compound and a vast network of smuggling tunnels. The new attacks followed an unprecedented rocket strike aimed at the contested holy city of Jerusalem that raised the stakes in Israel's violent confrontation with Palestinian militants and dramatically extended the battlefield. Israeli aircraft also kept pounding their original targets, the militants' weapons storage facilities and underground rocket launching sites. They also went after rocket squads more aggressively. The military has called up thousands of reservists and massed troops, tanks and other armored vehicles along the border with Gaza, signaling a ground invasion could be imminent. Militants, undaunted by the heavy damage the Israeli attacks have inflicted, have unleashed some 500 rockets against the Jewish state, including new, longer-range weapons turned for the first time this week against Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv heartland. Following those attacks, the military deployed an Iron Dome rocket defense battery in central Israel on Saturday. The system, devised precisely to deflect the Gaza rocket threat, was deployed two months earlier than planned, the Defense Ministry said. Nine people, including eight militants, were killed and dozens were wounded in the various attacks early Saturday, Gaza health official Ashraf al-Kidra said. In all, 39 Palestinians including 13 civilians and three Israeli civilians have been killed since the Israeli operation began. The violence has widened the instability gripping the Mideast. At the same time, revolts against entrenched regional regimes have opened up new possibilities for Hamas. Islamists across the Mideast have been strengthened, bringing newfound recognition to Hamas, shunned by the international community because of its refusal to renounce violence against Israel. A high-level Tunisian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem, drove that point home when it defied the fighting and arrived in Gaza on Saturday. His first stop was the still-smoldering ruins of Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh's demolished headquarters. It was the first official Tunisian visit since Hamas's violent 2007 takeover of the territory. Egypt's prime minister visited Friday and a Moroccan delegation is due on Sunday, following a landmark visit by Qatar's leader last month that implied political recognition. Israel had been incrementally expanding its operation beyond military targets but before dawn on Saturday it ramped that up dramatically, hitting Hamas symbols of power. Israeli defense officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss confidential decisions, said military chief Ltd. Gen. Benny Gantz personally ordered the scope of the airstrikes to be increased. Haniyeh's three-story office building was flattened by an airstrike that blew out windows in neighboring homes. He was not inside the building at the time. The building's security chief said Hamas scored points despite Israel's military superiority. "Hamas responded to the Zionist aggression and hit them in the depth of their land," he said, referring to rockets aimed Friday at Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Another airstrike brought down the three-story home of a Hamas commander in the Jebaliya refugee camp near Gaza City, critically wounding him and injuring other residents of the building, medics said. Missiles smashed into two small security facilities and the massive Hamas police headquarters in Gaza City, setting off a huge blaze that engulfed nearby houses and civilian cars parked outside, the Interior Ministry reported. No one was inside the buildings. The Interior Ministry said a government compound was also hit while devout Muslims streamed to the area for early morning prayers, although it did not report any casualties from that attack. Air attacks knocked out five electricity transformers, cutting off power to more than 400,000 people in southern Gaza, according to the Gaza electricity distribution company. People switched on backup generators for limited electrical supplies. In southern Gaza, aircraft went after underground tunnels militants use to smuggle in weapons and other contraband from Egypt, residents reported. A huge explosion in the area sent buildings shuddering in the Egyptian city of El-Arish, 45 kilometers (30 miles) away, an Associated Press correspondent there reported. The Israeli military said more than 800 targets have been struck since the operation began. The widened scope of targets brings the scale of fighting closer to that of the war the two groups waged four years ago. Hamas was badly bruised during that conflict, but has since restocked its arsenal with more and better weapons, and has been under pressure from smaller, more militant groups to prove its commitment to fighting Israel. The attack aimed at Jerusalem on Friday and two strikes on metropolitan Tel Aviv showcased the militants' new capabilities, including a locally made rocket that appears to have taken Israeli defense officials by surprise. Both areas had remained outside the gunmen's reach before. Just a few years ago, Palestinian rockets were limited to crude devices manufactured in Gaza. But in recent years, Israeli officials say, Hamas and other armed groups have smuggled in sophisticated, longer-range rockets from Iran and Libya. Israeli leaders have threatened to widen the operation even further if the rocket fire doesn't halt. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said options included the possible assassination of Haniyeh, the prime minister. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in emergency session with Cabinet ministers Friday and they approved mobilizing up to 75,000 reservists, more than doubling the number authorized earlier this week. That would be the largest call-up in a decade. Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich, a military spokeswoman, said 16,000 reservists were called to duty on Friday and others could soon follow. She said no decision had been made on a ground offensive but all options are on the table. President Barack Obama spoke separately to Israeli and Egyptian leaders Friday as the violence in Gaza intensified. In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he reiterated U.S. support for Israel's right to self-defense. To Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, he praised Egypt's efforts to ease regional tensions. http://news.yahoo.com/israel-launches-scores-airstrikes-gaza-092137360.html I think, Israel has the right to defend itself by all means. I pray for God to always strengthen them to conquer their enemies. |
President Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace has blasted members of Nigerian preacher TB Joshua’s church who frequently fly out of Zimbabwe going for healing and other church meetings. Mrs Mugabe said Zimbabweans should not waste their money visiting foreign prophets but should instead seek salvation cheaper locally. Addressing thousands of Christians of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa, ZAOGA, at the Today’s Women Conference at Glamis Stadium in Harare yesterday, Grace referred to Christians who visit what she termed war-torn countries naming Nigerian and Ghana, of which it could be only TB Joshua’s country Nigeria since it is the other of the two which is war torn. “I really don’t understand why scores of people are putting their faith on foreign preachers. They are having to raise a lot of money to visit them when in Zimbabwe we are blessed with anointed people of God who are able to do even greater things,” she said. Grace Mugabe’s comments come at a time when scores of Zimbabweans, including Cabinet ministers, are flocking to countries such as Ghana and Nigeria seeking divine intervention. “It doesn’t matter which denomination you belong to, we are all seeking one God. Believe in our prophets and stop wasting money visiting faraway countries. In Zimbabwe we have people who, through prayer, can heal you from your sickness and restore your broken marriage. “People have this misconception that Zimbabweans do not know how to pray. Little do they know that we have a lot of anointed people who are able to help us because they know the environment that we are operating under. A closer look at the countries which are being thronged by our people reveals that they are torn by war and hunger,” she said. Grace Mugabe told the thousands of people who attended the last day of the conference, organised by Prophetess Eunor Guti of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God, that she also seeks the help of local spiritual leaders. “I might be Grace Mugabe of Zimbabwe, but I cannot do it all on my own,” she said to wild applause. “I go to Amai Guti seeking guidance and she prays for me. The prayers enable me to keep my family and life together. I see God’s power in her and I have come to realise that God gives you people in your life to do certain tasks that you cannot do on your own because they are anointed in that area. “There is no point in trying to compete or badmouth the anointed because theirs is a gift from God.” Amai Mugabe added that she also believes in fasting as she seeks God. “Prayer and fasting have sustained me and I have also learnt to ask God for wisdom every day. “The book of James 1:5 says: ‘If any of you lack wisdom, let them ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and upbraids not, and it shall be given him.’ “To know what to do require wisdom that comes from God,” she said. The conference ran from November 8-10 and attracted delegates from more than 182 countries. http://www..com/talk/topic,136302.0.html |
FEW months after former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, denied backing the speculated presidential ambition of Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido in 2015, the former leader appears to have unfolded his agenda ahead of the next general election. Informed sources confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune that the former president had gathered a number of emissaries whom he is using to propagate the agenda. It was gathered that prime on the Obasanjo agenda for 2015 is how to convince President Goodluck Jonathan not to seek re-election. A second leg of the agenda is to install his favourite, Alhaji Sule Lamido, as the next president. Though the former president had denied backing the Lamido/Rotimi Amaechi ticket for the 2015 election, sources said that Obasanjo only voiced out in order to divert the attention of keen political watchers. It was also gathered that the denial became necessary in view of the decision by Amaechi, to back out of the plot, following his peace meeting with President Jonathan last month. Sources confirmed that the two-pronged Obasanjo agenda are currently being propagated by a crew of emissaries who have been holding consultations with political leaders of the North, South-East and South-South. A source in the know told the Nigerian Tribune at the weekend: “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s 2015 agenda has finally unfolded. His plans include getting people to convince President Jonathan not to seek re-election and secondly, installing his favourite among the northern governors, Alhaji Sule Lamido of Jigawa, as president. He has been sending emissaries, some notable politicians, to the president; the idea is ostensibly to convince him (Jonathan) against seeking re-election in 2015.” Sources further confirmed that the president started reading meanings into the messages which have been traced to Obasanjo following the frequency of the messages. It was gathered that further analysis of the intent of such messages revealed that the aim was not just to stop Jonathan’s alleged 2015 ambition, but to also distract him and drag him into thinking politics three years ahead of the election year. “Though the president has not declared his intention to run in 2015, he became suspicious that emissaries, all traced to Obasanjo, have been coming to give him advice on how to go about the 2015 election. The president believes that the aim is less than altruistic and there is the belief that the aim really is to distract him and stop him from achieving the goals of his administration,” another source stated. Sources also stated that the belief in many quarters is that the former president has decided to unfold the agenda right now in order to possibly weaken the presidency and prevent the incumbent from dwarfing his achievements in government. Another source said: “He (Obasanjo) is doing this with a view to weakening the president, distract him and drag him into politics. There is the fear that with the way Jonathan is going about the electricity issue, the free and fair election, the education policy, especially the Almajiri education, his achievements could easily dwarf those of Obasanjo and his status as father of new Nigeria. The key thing is to keep Jonathan busy thinking about 2015 and politics while his tenure lapses.” It was, however, gathered that the outreach to the South East has been rejected. Leaders of the South-East were said to have told the emissaries that they would prefer to take over power after Jonathan’s tenure. The South-East leaders further used the occasion of the 80th birthday of former Vice-President Alex Ekwueme, held in Abuja two weeks ago to reinforce their position, when they declared that the Igbo should take their turn at the presidency after Jonathan. However, spokesman for Chief Obasanjo, Mr Ojekunle Adeoba said on Sunday that the allegation is a blatant lie. In a text message in response to our earlier message, he said: “It is the greatest fiction of the year; a blatant lie.” In a telephone chat he also described the story as a lie. He further said: “You don’t believe that. Whoever is saying that, maybe you say he is fictitious. It is a big lie.” In another development, counting on the recent developments on South-West political scene, South West leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are reported to have spent a great part of their time on Saturday designing strategies on how to retake the South-West starting with the governorship polls in Ekiti and Osun states in 2014. Reports from inside the leadership caucus meeting held at the La Chateau, Ibadan, Oyo State, revealed that the leadership agreed on a wide range of measures to win the South-West states in 2014 and 2015 with the zonal leader, Chief Segun Oni, reportedly telling the leaders that “Our people in the South-West have tested alternatives and are unhappy with the performance of the ACN.” Nigerian Tribune was told that the leaders agreed to expand the caucus structure of the party to include more party leaders who are previously outside the caucus with insider report indicating that “caucuses will be constituted at the state and local government levels.” It was learnt that the composition of the local government and state caucuses was circulated and adopted at the meeting while the new state and local caucuses are to commence their separate meetings within a month. The meeting was also reported to have agreed to constitute and expand various committees of the party with a mandate to constitute constructive opposition and alternative governments long before the next election in Osun and Ekiti states. Many leaders were reported to have expressed fears that in-fighting among members in some states was threatening the revival of the party, a concern said to have been acknowledged by the zonal leadership which was quoted as promising a level playing field for all interests in the party. Aside Chief Obasanjo who reportedly expressed happiness at the revival of PDP fortunes in the zone, other leaders were said to have canvassed for immediate resolution of outstanding disputes to enable the party to conclude its electoral war plans for 2014. Other issues reportedly touched upon at the meeting included alleged rivalry among governorship aspirants, with majority of the leaders said to have warned aspirants against war mongering and a do-or-die approach to the race. Rather than fighting each other, the meeting was said to have told aspirants to face the ACN governors through constructive appraisal and criticism of their policies and programmes or face the wrath of the party leadership at national and zonal levels. An unnamed leader of the party from Ekiti State was reported to have told the meeting that PDP could only gain the electoral confidence of the Yoruba if it presented credible candidates in 2014 and 2015, a position said to have been supported by General Obasanjo and others in attendance. Oni was said to have repeated his admonition to the leaders that “the challenge before the PDP in the South-West is to strengthen ourselves to meet the yearnings of the people for a change from the present ACN-led governments at the next elections.” Oni was said to have told the leaders that “the party must create level playing fields and inspire healthy competitions for our tickets at the various levels,” warning that “the electorate expect us as a party to demonstrate our resolve and commitment to take over the South-West by first closing our ranks and creating enduring inclusiveness in all our states.” Oni, who predicted the end of ACN in future polls, was quoted as telling the closed door session that Ondo polls confirmed that “our people had seen through the falsehood and deceit of the ACN and are yearning for a change,” adding that “we are the change that the South-West needs and wants.” A party leader, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, who was also at the meeting, told the Nigerian Tribune on phone that “we told ourselves many bitter truths,” adding that “our prospect has never been so great and that is why our leaders brainstormed on how to regain and sustain the confidence of the electorate before the next election. http://www.nigeriannews.com/ Is OBJ the onwer of Nigeria? |

Women say they want a nice guy, yet usually end up dating bad boys. Here’s why. Not real: Nice guys are too nice. No one can always be that nice unless they’re a saint. They are busy being nice instead of being real and women instinctually don’t trust that. Bad boys “keep it real”. Nice guys don’t want to upset the apple cart. Respect: No one respects a doormat. Nice guys don’t set boundaries or make any real demands. A bad boy doesn’t let a woman walk all over him or control him. Women can’t respect a man they can control. No respect = No attraction. Predictable: Most people lead boring, predictable lives, so they’re attracted to people who are exciting and a bit unpredictable. Bad boys are always a challenge. Nice guys are never a challenge. Predictable + No excitement + No challenge = I prefer a bad boy. Mother Nature: Women are designed to nurture. However, instead of doing this with children, they often end up doing it with bad boys. They think that will save them. Nice guys rarely need to be saved. Fixer-Upper: Nice guys don’t usually need to be fixed. Bad boys usually do, so they become a project. Women think if they can “create” the perfect man, he will never leave them. Also, if they’re busy fixing someone else, they don’t have to look at what needs to be fixed in their own lives. Sperm wars: Women are designed to procreate with the strongest possible genes. Bad boys are sending an unconscious message that they have great genes, so they’re not afraid of losing the woman by misbehaving. Nice guys are sending a message that they don’t think their genes are good enough, so they won’t misbehave. Fear of intimacy: If a woman is afraid of intimacy, she subconsciously knows she can avoid it with a bad boy, since she can never get close enough to him to have to go there. A nice guy will eventually want a commitment, and that’s scary. Low self-esteem: We don’t feel comfortable with people who treat us better than we treat ourselves. If you don’t think much of yourself, the bad boy is simply reinforcing your negative belief. A nice guy is treating you in a way you’re not familiar with. Sex: Women feel a nice guy won’t be good in bed. They sometimes like to be manhandled and think a nice guy won’t be able to take control and get the job done. A bad boy comes across as being able to deliver, even though that may not always be the case. Hot: Have you ever seen a bad boy who wasn’t hot? I’m sure there are a few, but they wouldn’t be able to get away with half the stuff they did if they didn’t look so good. Meanwhile, when a woman describes someone as a nice guy, she means, “He’s not hot”. http://www..com/talk/topic,135239.0.html After reading the above, I decided to bring it here for deliberation. I think the ladies in the house are the ones that would say if the above is true or false. |
With this, there would be more download in her video compared to her audio. Her song is a huge success weather you like it or not. I like her spirit, she never gives up. |
Here's Tonto Dikeh's interview with Stella Dimokokorkus. What prompted you into singing? I love music and I wanted to do my own thing, to contribute my own music. You got monstrous negative response to both singles. How did feel with all the attacks? I listened to my songs over and over again and I told myself I did well. In all I see only the positivity in it,I made History. Peoples opinion of how my music was has further strengthened my belief that dreams die when you let the next man's opinion get to you and I am using now to pass a message to everyone out there, if you can just do it. Don't let anyone's opinion kill whatever dream you have or try to stop you from taking the next step. Click to continue You tweeted that you were not giving up. Does that mean you will become actively involved in music? I love my acting career and I don't see myself jumping into full time music. I am however shooting the musical video of my songs,I will not let the hating stop me. You released your song on Wednesday October 17, 2012 and two days later despite the negativity your song had hit 5.2 million download on the internet. How do you feel? The most unanticipated and hated song became the most talked about, most controversial, most downloaded and of course the most listened song.I feel great Stella, no regrets.! We look forward to the musical videos.till then I am sure comedians will soon add Your song jokes to their shows. Hopefully. Thank you and here's a loud shout out and thank you to everyone who stood up for me. http://www.talkofnaija.com/news_details.aspx?NewsId=D8045A2F-3010-4F18-9AB6-D6AE35E60D61 |
Kofya Brown, 25, became the first casualty of the reality TV hit series, Gulder Ultimate Search 9, as she was evicted from the Usaka Hills and forest location of the contest. Kofya, a Computer Science undergraduate, failed the first test of Christopher Okagbue, one of the three Gulder Ultimate Search 9 Gatekeepers, thus prematurely bringing to an end, her quest in search of the Gatekeeper’s fortune. Kofya who has a 7 year old daughter, Jessica, explained that one of the reasons she entered the Gulder Ultimate Search 9, was to use her prize money to take care of her daughter whom she described as her ‘best friend’. During her interview, a tearful Kofya had some words of reassurance for her 7 year old daughter: “…And to Jessica, don’t mind my tears, mummy loves you. Just know that even if I’m out here, I’ll still continue to do my best to give you what you deserve in life, okay?” For her troubles, Kofya will be taking home a whopping N1 million although she is the first evictee. http://www.talkofnaija.com/news_details.aspx?NewsId=B0EFE6CA-9FEB-415B-97A0-268976F561E3 Let her stop crying. 1 million naira is pill of dough and would go a long way to help her. |

The cold war between the executive and legislative arms of government may deepen, as there are indications that President Goodluck Jonathan may back the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Arunma Oteh, against the National Assembly. The House had called for the sack of Oteh and the Director-General of the Bureau for Public Enterprises, Bola Onagoruwa. The Senate, last week, adopted the report of its ad hoc committee on privatisation and commercialisation, which called for Onagoruwa’s removal for alleged gross incompetence and illegal and fraudulent sale of the five per cent of Federal Government’s residual shares in Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited. The House of Representatives had made a similar call on the President to sack Onagoruwa. The Lower Chamber of the National Assembly had accepted all the recommendations of the Ibrahim El Sudi-led ad hoc committee that investigated the near-collapse of the capital market, and called for the sack of Otteh, adding that she was unfit to hold the office. Though a recent media report said the President might be planning a soft-landing for the two embattled officials by asking them to resign instead, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said the powers to hire and fire officials were vested solely in the President. He accused the legislature of overstepping its boundary by dabbling in executive matters. Abati, in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, said it was against the tenets of democracy for executive power to be usurped by the legislative arm of government. He said there would continue to be friction in the system if one arm of government continued to do the job of another arm. He said, “The important thing to note is that respect for the principle of separation of powers is the heart of democracy. “Legislators cannot be doing the work of the Executive. The power to hire and fire and delegate powers rests in the President. “In a situation where the Legislature calls for the sack every day under the guise of oversight function, there will be confusion. “We are not practising a parliamentary system of government in Nigeria. The Legislature can check the excesses of the Executive, but our legislators seem to be confusing a presidential system with parliamentary system. “We must learn to respect the responsibilities and limits of powers given to institutions because there will be friction when one arm of government attempts to do the work assigned to another arm of government. “Often times, the legislature oversteps its boundary by dabbling in Executive matters.” If Jonathan refused to accede to the request of the lawmakers, this would not be the first time he would be doing so. The President had earlier shunned a resolution of the House of Representatives asking him to come and brief the lawmakers on the efforts of his government to tackle insecurity in the country. In his vote of thanks during the presentation of the 2013 Budget to the joint session of the National Assembly recently, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwwal, had frowned on Jonathan’s penchant for disregarding House resolutions, saying the country could only benefit if the two arms of government worked together to deliver their mandates. “I am compelled however to state that the National Assembly is becoming increasingly concerned about the disregard for its resolutions and public comments by certain functionaries of the Executive on same. I cite the Senate Resolution on the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the House Resolution on the state of insecurity of the nation, requesting Mr. President to visit and brief the House, the House of Representatives Resolution on the Securities and Exchange Commission, the concurrent Resolution of the two Chambers on Bakassi among others. This does not promote cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislature and consequently stability in the polity,” Tambuwwal had said. Currently, the two arms of government are also at loggerheads over the oil price benchmark for the 2013 Budget. While government had pegged the oil price for the 2013 budget at $75 per barrel, members of the National Assembly wanted the government to jeck it up to $80 per barrel. http://www.talkofnaija.com/news_details.aspx?NewsId=CDB97F25-61A5-4F06-B5A9-353E4FD6AA1E Let watch and see the outcome of the power tussle. For me, I wish them well. |

Cultured: No matter how bad some people sees Tonto Dikeh's music , she's still a phenomenon . It is better to be criticized than to never be discussed at all .Guy, ure correct. Some of the people that are criticizing her would perform worst than her. To me, her song is not that bad but a lot of people don't like her. Lets not be bias, she tried in her song. Hello Readers, I am Pregnant for my young sister's husband. I travelled to Lagos to buy clothes for my shop about two months ago and had to spend a few days in my sister’s place. I called her but her number wasn’t going so when I got to Lagos I contacted her husband who told me that she went to Ogun State on official assignment. He agreed that I should come over and do my transaction from their house. It was raining when I got there so I got socked, especially while trying to get their keys from a neighbour. They live in a one-bedroom apartment, so I had to go inside the room to change. I was really cold and was already wishing I had a man I could visit in Lagos when the unexpected happened. Due to the rain my sister’s husband came in through a back door from the kitchen straight into the bedroom and I was completely nudé; I couldn’t even bend down to pick my clothes. I was just standing there motionless until he grabbed me and, yes, we did it. We didn’t feel any guilt, just laughed about it and I prepared food. We both ate, slept together and had séx all night with each other. The sequence continued for the three days I spent in Lagos but after the first time we agreed he shouldn't release his sperm inside me. Am now back to Enugu where I do my business, but unfortunately I am six weeks pregnant. No man friend, no boyfriend, no séx mate…. So who will I give this pregnancy to? My sister’s marriage is less than a year and I just cant mention this to her husband. The options I have thought of is either to kill myself or have an abortion. Is there any other way out of this mess I have gotten myself into? Please I need HELP, and I need it fast! What should I do http://www.talkofnaija.com/news_details.aspx?NewsId=93BD4BA5-3C2D-4003-88DD-39C14E4E8EFB House I read the above story and decided to bring it here for comments. For me, the lady is a home destroyer. The incident was avoidable but due to her mischievous act, she did it. Let her bear the consequences. |
They are part of the movers and shakers of the motion picture industry, and their immense contribution to what is today celebrated as Nollywood cannot be underestimated. When they decided to spread their tentacles to the music industry, one would naturally hope that their ready-made fame in moviedom will pave the way, but surprisingly, their achievements as actors could not make the difference for them in the music industry. Naij.com decided to make a countdown of the Nollywood stars who flopped in music. We are counting down from Number 10 to Number 1. Enjoy below... 10) OMOTOLA JALADE-EKEINDE: She is one of the best and celebrated Nollywood diva. She is highly successful as an actress, but several attempts by the beautiful wife of pilot Mathew Ekeinde at music has been nothing to write home about, despite being an established celebrity. She was one of the thespians that tried their luck in music in 2005 after they were banned by the then Ejike Asiegbu led AGN regime. In that year, she released a single entitled Gba, and was followed by a video and album. But despite the massive hype, the album was indeed a failure. She has released another album and songs like Missing You and Feel Alright, but yet, she has made little or no impact in the music industry. 9) GENEVIEVE NNAJI: Genny, as she is fondly called, is the most celebrated Nollywood actress both in Nigeria and abroad. In 2005 after she was also suspended from acting, Genevieve also took a shot on music with the release of the song No More. She went on to get a mouthwatering recording deal in Ghana, but it wasn’t even enough to make her a force to reckon with in the music industry. She is one of those Nollywood stars who failed in their attempt at music. ANITA JOSEPH:Until early this year when she announced that she was now a born again Christian, Anita was hitherto referred to as a Nollywood bad girl. Though she was enmeshed in a lot of controversies, Anita has proved her mettle as one of the future talents in Nollywood. Between the years 2008/2009, she released a single and consequently performed in a couple of shows, including the News of The People Awards held at Sheraton Hotels, Lagos. Even at that, she is yet to make any spectacular statement as a singer. She dropped two new gospel singles, claiming that God directed her to do so during the fuel subsidy removal nationwide strike. 7) JIM IYKE: The list of wannabe Nollywood singers will not be complete without the name of controversial actor, Jim Iyke. The former Globacom ambassador also romanced music when he released the song, Who Am I, featuring one of Nigeria’s finest, Tuface Idibia. Jim, whose genre of music is rap, was actually keen on making a statement musically and he spent a fortune on radio and television hypes. Yet, his music career was short of being a success. The actor also did another entitled Born To Do This and featured Mike Word and Puffy T on it, but it did not make any good impact either. 6) NKEM OWOH (Osuofia): Popularly referred to as Osuofia, Nkem Owoh is a highly successful actor. At a time, he was the highest paid Nollywood actor, raking millions from every script that comes his way, but when he decided to grab the microphone and consequently released the song, I Go Chop Your Dollar, it was not on a bed of roses. The audio and video of the song were banned on air due to its lyrical content. Osuofia went ahead to record another song, Olamma, but it was also short of being a success. 5) COSSY ORJIAKOR: Though this naturally endowed actress has a sonorous voice, it was obviously not enough to give her a hit in the music industry. She has recorded a couple of songs and also shot videos, but they were not enough to guaranty her musical success. One of her songs is entitled Me and You. 4) JOHN OKAFOR (Mr Ibu): Otherwise known as Mr. Ibu, John is a highly skilled and successful actor who has carved a niche for himself. Regarded as one of the most hilarious actors in Nigeria, Mr. Ibu has severally claimed that he has a good singing voice. He actually released an audio/video album some years back, but it cannot be regarded as a success. He had since stick to his original talent-acting. 3) SHAN GEORGE: She is an actress of note, but like her colleagues, Shan’s attempts at making hits through music have so far been futile. She has an album and has performed in a couple of gigs, including the annual Felabration. For obvious reasons, she is one of the movie stars who could not make impact as singers. 2) LILIAN BACH: The half-caste actress, had also tried her hands in music, but she was quick enough to withdraw, perhaps after realising that it was a tough terrain for her. (Nollywood wannabe singers learn from her) 1) TONTO DIKEH: And our number 1 of course is no other person than the "Rave of the Moment": Tonto Dikeh. The recent release of her two new singles have been met with so much hate and rejection. Recently, a Nollywood producer refered to her attempt at singing as a TERRIBLE TREMELO Ever since she released her singles "Hi"and "Itz Over" Fans home and abroad have made it clear that they don't seem to accept her detour into Music. They practically pulled out all stops just to show their Displeasure. http://www.talkofnaija.com/news_details.aspx?NewsId=56915E0E-C7AA-4F62-AFD3-5FEFD583AFD9 |
James Hardly Chase said "you never know with women, they are funny animals". To me, they are not only funny animals, they are confused creatures. They want to get everything, they want a perfect world, they want you to tell them what they want to hear knowing that its not possible. They want to eat their cake and have it. They don't bear blames, they always push blames on us. They live in an ideal world not real world. They want things to always go their ways not minding the consequences. However, they are so powerful that they can build and destroy a man... ... that's the strength of a woman. Above all, we can't do without them cos they are our companion. QED. |
Women in the UK and U.S are selling their breast milk online including Facebook, to make some quick cash, despite serious concerns that it could be harmful for babies. Buying breast milk is tempting to new parents struggling to express their own, as it provides babies with better protection against illnesses and allergies compared to formula. "Our discrete breastfeeding breast milk classified system makes it possible to sell or buy breast milk in a clean, private way," a website was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. Donor mothers list their milk under the age of their baby and if they can provide fresh milk on demand. A search around the site revealed that women from Essex to Newcastle are offering it either fresh or frozen for around 1 pound per fluid ounce, while USD 2 per ounce is the standard rate in the US. There are legitimate ways to both donate and receive breast milk for free via milk banks. These centres store breast milk for babies whose mothers can't breastfeed. The banks collect expressed milk from pre-screened mothers who have a plentiful supply and a baby under six-months old. It is then pasteurised before it is offered to nearby hospitals. But doctors in Germany have warned new parents against privately obtaining their baby's food through social networks such as Facebook. The Professional Association of Pediatricians said that although breast is generally the best option for newborns, mothers unable to breastfeed should not turn to the internet. "Donors can be taking medicines or drugs, have infectious illnesses like AIDS or Hepatitis," Wolfram Hartmann, president of the association, said. "Nobody can check whether the unknown mother's milk is harmless for the particular child," he warned, adding that the milk's quality could also be affected during its transportation. The warning follows a report by the online edition of German news weekly Der Spiegel and the association's own research, it said. It also warned that a newborn's nutritional needs differed from those of a baby even of several weeks or months old. "The milk of a woman who already has an older child does not contain the right nutrient composition for a newborn," it added, and said women who were unable to breastfeed should use special powdered milk. Less than a week after a bomb blast rocked a drinking joint in Taraba State, leaving one person dead with several others injured, another bomb blast has rocked the capital of the state. The blast, which occurred in Mallam Joda area of the state capital on Friday night near the Nigerian Television Authority station has left at least one woman dead and five children injured. The spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaibu, has also confirmed the incident, saying the injured children have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo for treatment. Whoever it is that is responsible for these bombings and killings all over the country is trying to pass a message across. The government on their own part have continuously assured Nigerians that they are on top of the situation. But the plain truth remains that the bombing and killings keep coming and the spate of bomb attacks in Northern Nigeria believed to be the handiwork of extremists has risen in recent weeks, even as security agents continue with raids on suspected bomb factories. http://www.informationnigeria.org/2012/10/1-woman-killed-5-children-injured-as-fresh-bomb-blast-hits-taraba.html The bokos have channel their attack to women and children. |
