This happened to me as well. The lady at the Mississauga test center didn't even bother checking my licence online. She just looked at the card and said it cant be verified. When i asked why, she just said am clogging the line. I went to the etobicoke center and got it confirmed in a few minutes. I guess it matters which agent you land on that particular day. It might just be skin color bias unfortunately
MissMoroti:

I think its only fair for me to update after i got a solution
So the winches in etobicoke drivetest center rejected my license claiming its fake and cant be verified. She didnt even collect the authentication letter or anything. She just looked at the license and said NO. I tried to ask why and explain what “graduated u25” meant. She blatantly told me I’m holding the line and i should go and report to MTO in ottawa if I’m not satisfied with what she told me.
I left and went to northyork drivetest center, that one didnt even bother to check my license because the etobicoke winch has already written something on my file online.

So i called MTO customer care and complained, the customer service agent was so upset with the way i was treated and told me that the instruction MTO gave them is that “once there is an authentication letter and they can see my license on “https://www.nigeriadriverslicence.org/dlApplication/trackStatus” then she had no reason to decline. Na so i go check my license on the site o. My face was there gidigba to prove it was authentic. So the customer care lady gave me an address in downtown toronto; I carried myself and went to downtown. I explained my situation to the agent at ther ServiceOntario in downtown toronto.
Na so she approve me o, I provided all the licenses I have been using since 2008 including all the temporary. The lady was just laughing that it’s not that deep. She checked online and verified o! 11years added and i booked my road test same day.

Inshort, if you bring naija license come and you are coming to ontario. Just respect urself and go to “downtown toronto” that’s where we have sane people!!

Thank you for this information. This is what i've seen online as well and that's why it has a massive staff turnover with so many unfilled positions. Just wondering if you can make good money without having to always be away from home. I'll research more about it
omidan21:
Uhnn this is one heck of a job. Pay extremely Cool.but lots of time away from home. Almost zero social life.

truckers without criminal records can make +$80,000 per year. It's easy to make 6 salary figures doing long haul, but you're usually never at home

U most likely Wld be working 16+ hours a day in a noisy, rough, sedentary seat where you're always away from home, have zero hobbies, zero social life, zero mental stimulation, zero exercise, shit food, sporadic hygiene at best.

U may also be stucked at the job cause t’s also a tough gig to get out of. Hard to attend maybe another interview when you are stuck waiting for a load a 1000 miles away.

But if age is on ur side Faaaa, and you re able bodied then its an option right?

The first step to this career path is getting your class 1License.thats what it's called in manitoba province I don't know if it's the same everywhere

quote author=Inception12 post=74637917] Hello people.. Is there anyone here who is a truck driver... I've been thinking about it for some time now but what I've read online is a bit discouraging

Hello all, is there any whatsup group for people living in Brampton/Mississauga? I would like to be added to one if it exists. If there isn't, i can form one and invite people to join.
Our Indian friends are doing much better in Canada than most because of the way they help each other.

I was in shock as well. Am in Missisiauga trying to buy a honda civic.

8000 ? That is way too much unless your car is a rolls royce wink
Where are you located? Insurance pricing also depends on the location.

Landed seniors, some help needed. I asked for a car insurance quote and 1 company gave me a quote of $8,000 pa which is just pure madness. How does one go about getting a smaller quote for new immigrants.

Thanks for this, i saw a few pages back maternal said he was earning some good money just delivering fuel. I guess getting a driving permit is very vital and should be one of the things i get immediately i land.
Boss13:

If you have the license - great or you can work towards having the license. I know many of us like going back to school. Not bad especially if you want to change your professional. However, my main advice is avoid it if you can and pursue other professions like getting skilled or sitting for professional certifications - they are cheaper and even more valuable.

I know a Truck driver, who is actually a Nigerian too. He makes some good change. Truck drivers earn $5,000 per month on average and they even work for themselves which means a truck driver can earn $10,000 per month. If he picks up for two or more companies.

Skilled labour is very cool even carpentry. Don’t look down on it and be struggling with $25 - $30 per hour job. Skilled labour earn more.

Another quick question seniors, i've been doing some research on kijiji and i see a lot of general labor jobs in Ontario some even requesting for immediate start. How hard or easy is it to get these jobs. Am planning on landing next month and i want to get my feet on the ground immediately to avoid POF running out as i look for my career jobs.

Hello landed seniors, a quick question. How hard or easy is it to get a TRV for someone who has a letter of invitation from a PR?

Praise God saints, finally got my PPR in the night. Timeline below;
AOR....29th May
IP1.....6th June
IP2 and ADR.....20th Sept
PPR......3 October

ADR was for additional bank statements for pOF...i had initially only used employer pension fund statement. Thank God for this forum, I was stuck at CRS of 430 with only a bachelor's until i learnt of using ACCA diploma (for finishing papers F1 to F9) to get two or more certificate.

Thanks to all who answered my questions and helped in any way. May God bless you who are waiting for your PPR, you'll get there eventually.

Hello people, quick question. Does IRCC ever follow up with the bank to ensure bank statements uploaded for POF are up to date and valid?

Just got IP1 a week back and it already feels like forever waiting for status to change, patience is really a virtue with this PPR process.
Regarding gcms notes, do they make the visa officers take note of your application and speed it up or they are for your comfort??
Ethelia:

My AOR is March 7 and I ordered the notes as soon as I hit the 2 months mark. you even have patience sef grin

P.s even after receiving the notes sef, I'm still in IP1 angry angry angry these people better catapult me from IP1 to PPR before I go and change it for them angry grin grin grin grin

Thank you so much....God bless

It's not a biggie. Just do your conversion on xe.com or oanda and print out the page showing the rate and amount. It should be a one-pager which you will merge with your other POF docs. Not necessary but advisable. It will help you know if any rate fluctuations will affect your POF especially if you are playing too close to home.

Morning people, another one of my simple questions....i read about people attaching currency conversions for the POF. is it really necessary and how do we go about it

Just passing through with a simple question.....among the documents required for upload i didnt see a placeholder for IELTS results and ECA certificates...
Are they merged together with the education certificates or they are not needed.

I can see you're prepared to get AOR the next day after ITA. Even same day AOR with ITA is possible and has been achieved by someone in the past.

So WES finally decided to finalise my evaluation and the good news is the ACCA Advanced Diploma for finishing papers F1 to F9 is equivalent to a 3 years Bachelor's degree. So for anyone looking for extra certificates, you can get it evaluated to supplement your bachelors if you've sat for those papers. Now all we need is someone to evaluate the diploma given for papers F1 to F3.

Am still waiting for WES to conclude the evaluation. The evaluation is due for completion on 4/26/2018. I'll update once i get it.

happytbaby:
I doubt WES would issue a favourable assesement for the Diploma in IFRS, my reasoning is that the course is only one paper....how would WES say its equivalent to 1year post secondary diploma after getting a transcript with only one result?

I first wanted to stay clear of this ACCA discussion but I must say that you guys need to be very sure that the 3 fundamental (abi wetin dem the call am) papers will give 1year diploma equivalency ooooo, what if they give 6months? Will it still serve the purpose?

I am more convinced about the diploma you get after passing paper F9, that should be able to give you 1year.

@ the person that has ICAN, the advice that was given is not very accurate, ICAN qualifies for exemptions of papers F1 to F9 and you only write 5 professional P papers, I kid you not, the optional Ps are not a joking matter.

@Inception; I am yet to see your feedback about how the assesment of your intermediate ACCA diploma went, the house is awaiting feedback for future reference....or did I miss it?

Those 3 foundation courses are really easy in my opinion as long as you have some time to spare. they are easier than having to do a post graduate. You can even sit for all 3 within 3 months because ACCA has 4 sittings in the year(Mar, June, Sep and Dec)

Hello people,

I have question regading the work reference letter. Does it have to be the supervisor or someone from HR who signs on the letter. Because having my supervisor sign may lead to un-necessary questions and tension. Whereas the HR people are more professional and are required to keep staff matters confidential. And must it be on company letterhead?

Thank you for this clarification. Am planning on a registry wedding this year as well after i get PPR. I better start taking pics of us doing everything together,

Emmasonic4me:

Congrats bro.

I have been nurturing this plan of adding a spouse before PPR or even after COPR. However, after reading your post, fear come dey catch me. Asking for wedding pictures, reception and honey moon pictures, etc... Hmmmh.

I thought a marriage certificate from registry is sufficient document for proof of marriage? For someone that's in a distant relationship, those courtship pictures may not be handy too, unless they need whatsapp chats.... grin grin

Someone please explain what happens if they requested for those documents and all you have is marriage certificate from registry with few pictures taken during the court marriage ??

This is so funny, am still laughing this morning. In other news, let me attack the ACCA diploma option with WES. Hopefully my new ECA can be ready by the next draw

mcstan18:

Take a look at the tiebreaking rule - March 3 shocked. So between March 3 and March 14, very high CRS score applicants entered the pool. The stats are scary sha. At this rate, only back-to-back-to-back draws will have a material impact on the draws cut-off score.

Well, I'll still be here in the thread having fun with my virtual family while also sitting in the pool sipping zobo.

In other news, any single lady below 30, with an MSc, 3 years work experience who is interested in getting married this year should contact me. I have a message for you from the "lawd". grin grin

If draws won't drop, let's kukuma increase our score anyhow. Acant shout
