Catalyst007:Sorry for your experience. I had something similar 2 weeks ago but I didn't fall. A foreign number called me but I missed the call, so I called back and the guy said he like my logos from nairaland logo thread. I added him on whatsapp and we got talking. He wanted a logo and I gave him my pricelist. Just 10k, abi 15k for 4 concepts. He obliged and said I should proceed with the design. And then I let it out, oga what of payment naw, as in down payment (not my exact words o). He insisted I proceeded with the design. Wo, company policy demands 70% down payment before any job as I need to brainstorm, research, probably hand-draw, before using illustrator. I made it clear, there's no way I am starting a project without down payment. That was the end of our discussion. Designers and employees generally, are not beggars. Business people need to learn to appreciate designers. If you don't feel your designer should be paid a mouth-watering sum, you don't also deserve to get a contract, or you could as well run your business for free. Idesignng Waka4u |

One of my favourite quotes says "tomorrow belongs to those who wake up today and start working". Without a doubt, this is the fact about life. The wealthiest place on earth is the graveyard - people with ideas never implemented, written songs never sung, greatness never manifested. Research shows that 97% of individuals on earth are average people, living normal lives; living in circles, from day to day, month to month, and year to year. I have decided to be among the 3% of extraordinary humans. I don't want to just live by, I want to leave a trail, in fact, blaze the trail. So about business, Waka4u has been fine. I have handled a handful of deliveries (20 deliveries, there about) and I have learnt along the way. This job is making me know places and I like it. The major challenge now is dealing with customers who switch of their phones or reschedule a delivery. All in all, God has been wonderful. I thank everyone who has called and use our service - you are the centre of our business. Happy Weekend, Waka4u.

Ginius95:You are welcome. Just keep us updated on your progress. Regards, Waka4u. |
sonssyo:Unfortunately, I can't work or live in Ontisha, as I am already based in Port Harcourt. However, I can make occasional visits if need be. I can work on a freelance basis, as well as handle printing and delivering, if and when necessary. I never met over 90% of my customers but their feedback was always remarkable. |
detutu1:Although I now run a pickup and delivery service, I am still a graphic designer with a very strong portfolio. I handle design jobs every now and then. You may reach me on. Email: 1stclem@gmail.com Regards, Clement S. |
beautycrush24:Madam you still dey here. You no go like employ me. But na 200k per month, food of my choice, fully furnished apartment, and 1 medium care to use be my terms o. Just kidding, good luck with your search. |
queent:You may still want to talk to us. Fast, reliable, and affordable pickup and delivery service. Whatsapp: 07035107792 |
@op your idea is fabulous. Personally, I love pranks and I won't mind using such a service. There are over #160 million Nigerians. I believe there are a few others like me who will buy into your idea. What you need to work on is how to convince people and get customers. Additionally, to cut down startup costs, you can start by working with people of like passion who have other jobs. When you have a job, you guys can sit during the weekend, brainstorm, make necessary arrangements. This is just a recommendation. Regards, Waka4u. |

Yes, you can start as an enterprise. Each option has its advantage. Enterprise is recommended if you are running on a low budget and intend to operate a sole proprietorship for the time being. However, in case you run into legal issues, you and one with your business and thus liable to the extent of your personal property. LTD offers more credibility. |
queent:Hello Queen, we can help you handle deliveries to Port Harcourt at the moment. We are a startup but we will be expanding to other locations in few months. Our services are fast, reliable, and affordable. You may contact us via the following channels. Phone/Whatsapp: 07035107782 Facebook: www.facebook.com/waka4u Website: www.waka4u.com You may also send a nairaland PM and we will contact you ASAP. We look forward to hearing from you.

Make I buy land for here. |
queent:In case you are sending items to Rivers State, we can help you handle pay-on-delivery, starting at #1,000. We are a startup - waka4u www.waka4u.com Facebook.com/waka4u Phone/Whatsapp: 07035107792 |
beautycrush24:No vex oh, I was only disputing the other poster's claim that it is human trafficking. I understand the whole concept of house help agents. |
sheunfemix:That's not trafficking. In a standard system, there are agencies that manage nannies and house helps. The op got it wrong by saying "village" and specifying a rather low age. I guess she is considering cost issues. Ideally, someone in such age bracket should be in school. |
DealFinder:All you have said is true. It will be nice helping you handle your business logistics. However, our service is a startup and we are limited to pickup and deliveries in only Rivers State at the moment. We should be entering Lagos in 6 months time. Is there a number we could reach you on? Or kindly contact us on: 07035107792. Waka4u |

A big thank you to every one that believed in me and encouraged me. Business ain't dead yet. NYSC has kept me grounded for about 2 weeks. The bright side is that I am counting down to passing out. I entered for TEEP and look forward to be among the winners. Searching for other entrepreneurship contests I can compete in. Business has been good. Pumping myself with inspiration audios. Words are life and I have only one option, SUCCEED. |
zicoraads:Thanks for the observation. I will work on that as well. |
lcoral:Thanks ma'am. Will come up with another design. |
Learning to become a better marketer. Here's the design I worked on for my fb page tonight. What do you think?
|
As promised, this is an update on my journey so far. Business has picked up in earnest, and I have handle four deliveries. I am also in the process of employing someone because of my weekly travels due to NYSC. |
lcoral:Yes, things have been going well. Don't mind me, NYSC stress is making me travel any how. I will update the thread tonight. |
etcme:Thanks chief. There is no footer yet though. He hasn't added it. And some pages are still missing. |
I haven't updated this thread on my recent progress, I apologize for this. However, I have been traveling a lot of late. I decided to skip this from the beginning - I am a serving Corp member. However, from the onset I was always on the move, shuffling PPA and freelance jobs every week. I recently had to travel to go and teach for a while. That's by the way. With regards to Waka4u, the certificate with CAC is ready but I am yet to pick it up (that will be done next week when I am back to base). The website is still under development - www.waka4u.com. So far, I am not really impressed with the designer's job. I have also made some inquiries as regards to getting a bike. I will get one very soon. In all, I give thanks.

I contacted Hisenjos a week ago and we agreed on an exchange rate. He was kind enough to walk me through the withdrawal process, and I must say - his rates are attractive in comparison with what the banks are offering. Great customer service, excellent delivery time, and an overall awesome personality. I highly recommend him. And yes, I will be using his services again. |
FINgames:You are not the only one o. Hehehe |
