The problem of the present political dispensation is thier tone-deaf nature to the aspirations of the people. Reason why the PDP couldn't pick a low hanging fruit, the 2023 presidential elections. I hope we don't see the same dynamics play out in the coming elections in Edo State. The ticket should be given to the Edo central. By the way, I'm Igbo and support Edo central 💯. My kins that I've spoken to feel exactly the same.
Oghighirhighi:
Philip Shuaib is being unnecessarily too ambitious. Oshiomhole forced his way to make him, a fellow Uzairue brother to be deputy to Obaseki instead of an Esan man. Now the next governor should clearly be an Esan man, but Philip wants to take his place. Here is a man who has been in government since the inception of this political dispensation. We should all join together and give him retirement.

I'm Igbo but born and bred in Edo and I'm very much proud of my Edo identity too. The next governor of Edo should come from Edo central. Edo central has been loyal to the PDP in particular in Edo State and it will be injustice not to consider them. Secondly, since 1999, Edo South has now done almost 16yrs, Edo North 8yrs. When will the baton be given to Edo central?.

What some dunce like you fail to understand is that Obidients only want a Nigeria that works irrespective of the occupier of the office of president. Obidient is bigger than Peter Obi himself. He only embodies a semblance of what a modern day Nigerian president should be like. The druggie on the other hand embodies the totality of the Nigeria we would like to forget. I am sure I made more money under Buhari than your entire family combined made in your miserable lives. I assure you that I will make more money under Tinubu than your entire family and extended family and generations born and unborn put together can ever make in your entire bloodline.( Take that to the bank). When we demand a country that works for all, don't think we Obidients are as hungry as your family. We demand so because as the great sage, Chinua Achebe wrote in his book, "we do not gather under the moonlight in the village square to gaze at the moon. Every man can see the moon from his house. We gather because it's good for kinsmen to do so.". America is not great today because of the numbers of billionaires it has. It is great because of the relative comfort it offers those that live in America.

A student loan with a requirement of a civil servant on a grade level 13 or higher or a Lawyer with 10 years post call is not targeted at the poor. It's like putting a meal 40 feet above ground and telling a dwarf the meal is for him. This is what happens when you borrow an idea which is not yours. Abeg make una give PO him mandate back. With the revelations in the RED chamber, from how Ahmed Lawal returned to the Senate to how Bulkachawa influenced his wife to pander to his friends in numerous cases of miscarriage of Justice, it's safe to say the Judiciary is on trial.

Don't mind them in the Southeast. The same Region that produced Oyefusi, the same Region that produced ishola, the same region that mines the skulls of thier children and father's and mother's for ritual purposes. The same region who's people are littered all-over Saudi Arabia prisons on drug charges. The same region that produced Mc Oluomo. The same region that has an ex convict as governor in Ogun state. The same region that produced an ex convict as speaker of the house of Reps and even took it a notch higher by giving the country a convicted drug lord as president. The Southwest don't encourage criminals, they only vote for them. Hey, if they don't get elected, they get installed as Kings. Den of ewedu eating morally depraved criminals

Unlike other region (especially down east) , In the Southwest we don't condone lawlessness. We nip the bud at early stage. We dont encourage and cheer on criminality, neither do our governors use every available TV interviews and press releases to beg for the release of a terrorist kept in detention by the government so as to prevent him from further havoc.

We must all quit deceiving ourselves and take responsibilities. Tribal sentiment in the face of criminality must be set aside[/quote]

Maybe you recently came across an article about Nigeria's history. With people like you, when the history of Buhari's failed economic governance is written, the blame would be on Zainab Ahmed. Like I said, keep shifting the goal post.

BlackKafka:
When folks that are ignorant of Nigeria's history start blabbing, they aren't hard to spot.

Professor BEN NMAWBUEZE Drafted Unitary Document That Removed Regional System Of Government And Brought Nigeria 🇳🇬 Under One Federating Unit to Favour Aguyi Ironsi

Professor Ben Nwabueze, erudite constitutional lawyer, consummate and well-researched elder statesman drafted the unitary constitution thus abolishing the robust regional setup that made each region economically and politically viable. He abolished the regional governance because of General Aguiyi Ironsi who had just seized power after the gruesome murders of the prime minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, and others in 1966.

To ensure his grips on power, Ironsi used Nwabueze’s unitary document to bring Nigeria under one federating unit. It is intriguing that the same person whose document ended our regional experience is the same person crying for restructuring. What has happened that his beautiful policy is no longer an option but an oppressive tool? For us to take him serious, he must first apologise to Nigerians for abolishing the regional template.

“Of all the decrees enacted in Nigeria, none is more controversial than Decree No 34 of 1966. It was promulgated on May 24, 1966 by then Head of State, Major General Johnson Thomas Umunnakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi (1924-1966). It was called Unification Decree while some critics at that time labelled it the De-unification Decree.

It was the decree that started the death of regionalism – an issue that is still generating controversy till now. Although the next head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, repealed the Decree 34 on August 31, 1966 through Decree 9, a large portion of the Decree is still effective till today.

General Gowon further compounded it by promulgating Decree 14 of 1967, which broke Nigeria into 12 states and provided for military governors for each state. With Decrees 34, 8 and 14 regionalism was finally buried.

On assumption of power, General Aguiyi-Ironsi promulgated the Constitution (Suspension and Modification) Decree 1966. Decree No 1 dated January 17, 1966 but not published in the Official Gazette until March 4, 1966. He then issued Public Order Decree No 33 dated May 24 1966, which dissolved 81 political associations and 26 tribal and cultural associations.

At the early stage of his tenure, he appointed a three-man advisory team made up of Chief Francis Nwokedi, a permanent secretary, Dr Pius Charles Nwabafor Okigbo (1924-2000) and Colonel Patrick Anwunah, who later became chairman and head of the Orientation Committee at that time.

This piece is for those who think the call for restructuring is a new idea, no, we had a well thought out governance template until Prof Ben Nwabueze truncated it with his unitary pooh pooh. This is setting the record straight otherwise he takes the glory of being a champion of a better Nigeria when in real sense he was the architect of a provincial and nepotistic leaning.

It's now about who Prof Nwanchukwu that killed regional government. Thought it's Aguiyi Ironsi. Keep shifting the goal post.

BlackKafka:
Even funnier when you realize that the crying man was the one who killed regional governments in Nigeria cos He thought his people were in control.

I don't think you're as smart as you think you are. How did you manage to reduce the statement there to a threat to the judges families by the poster while excluding the stated instrument of threat embedded in the statement.?. If you say he threatened the judges, therefore you agree that the APC and Buhari cum Tinubu are instruments to deliver harm.

Secondly, I don't think you know the meaning of emotional. If you do, you'll understand the Southeast has never been emotional in political support of a candidate. Rather, the Southwest is a region that it's people can NEVER reason objectively. Thier decisions are always clouded by emotions. Besides arears that voted on religious sentiments, point one state that Tinubu won outside the Southwest !!!.

Igbos are pompous no doubt but not emotional. Especially on issues with serious consequences like politics. On the other hand, you can't separate the Yorubas from Tribalism, betrayal and cowardice. It's a known fact to the rest of Nigerians.

lhordspy:
I dont know why this election thing is overly emotional to some people especially the south easterner. This is beyond the hate for Tinubu or Buhari. This is something else.

I just checked the twitter page of ChannelsTV where this news was posted. And the first comment that appeared in the comment section says alot. Infact it mirrored the exact reason why the tribunal refused to grant the live coverage. Imagine someone threatening the lives of the judges and their family.

A random mad fellow who is very confident to threaten the family of the judges, publicly; can also harm or kill the witnesses who are going to testify.

The judgement stands until it is set aside by a superior court. And in the interest of justice and equity, Alex Otti should not be sworn in on May 29. Ikpeazu should remain in office till the Supreme Court rules on the matter.
