The Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibrahim Idris, has warned the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) against indiscriminate search of mobile phones and laptops of ordinary citizens.
He also stated that FSARS personnel found culpable of illegal detention beyond 48 hours risk dismissal.
Speaking through Amaechi Elumelu, the National Coordinator of X-Squad, at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters, during a lecture to officers of FSARS, Idris said: “You’re barred from searching handsets and laptops of innocent citizens, unless the search is directly linked to a case or directed by IGP or any person or persons he so delegated.
"Forthwith, any FSARS officer who detains any suspect beyond 48 hours without recourse to the court risks dismissal.
“Operatives of FSARS are to be trained and retrained regularly to equip them with modern working knowledge and skills to perform optimally in line with international best practices."
He also reiterated that FSARS is created and limited to handling armed robbery and kidnapping cases, and warned them against harassing innocent civilians.

Lately, there's been rumours that Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode is planning to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) to the opposition, PDP.

The Lagos State governor, was reported to have been in a closed door meeting with his political aides and executive council members to take a crucial decision as to whether to remain in the APC or forge ahead with another party, as the primaries draw nearer.

It was reported also that Ambode may want to leave the party because Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader and a former governor of Lagos may have withdrawn his support from Ambode’s re-election bid. The reports claim that Ambode might move to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) or Action Democratic Congress(ADC), both of which are part of the Coalition of Political Parties(CUPP).

However, President Buhari’s aide on new media, Bashir Ahmad has said the Lagos State governor has debunked such claims. According to Ahmad, when he told Ambode that rumours of his defection were rift on social media, the governor said ‘I’m here in Beijing in president Buhari’s entourage. ‘

Ahmad tweeted, 'I told Gov. @AkinwunmiAmbode of Lagos State that @LeadersNG and some other media platforms have been spreading fake news that he’s planning to leave the APC, he smiled and said Bashir if they don’t know tell them I am here in Beijing in President @MBuhari’s entourage'.

Mourinho was frustrated following the loss to Liverpool, hitting out at Anthony Martial and Antonio Valencia in a postmatch interview with MUTV and criticising United's lack of transfer activity.
The United boss questioned why Martial, who wants to leave, had not returned to the U.S. following the birth of his son and suggested Valencia had come back to preseason training out of shape before suffering a calf injury and going home.
In Michigan on Saturday, Mourinho repeated his demand for two new players to arrive before the transfer deadline on Aug. 9 but said he could have to settle for one or none at all in an apparent dig at executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Barcelona are willing to offe Ousmane Dembele to Chelsea in their bid to sign Eden Hazard.
Belgium captain, Hazard had earlier expressed his desire to leave Chelsea this summer and had indicated that Real Madrid would be his preferred destination.
Reports claims that the Belgian already has a verbal agreement in place with Madrid, while negotiation with Chelsea is ongoing.

Rangers have contacted Police Scotland after footage emerged of a fan seeming to racially abuse a child before the club's Europa League tie in Macedonia.
The footage, which has been condemned by the club's fans on social media, ends with the man saying "white power" to a group of Macedonian children. It was apparently filmed before the goalless first qualifying round second leg against Shkupi on Tuesday. A statement said that Rangers "will take the appropriate steps".
It added: "This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and Rangers have been in touch with Police Scotland." Charity Show Racism the Red Card said they "are disgusted by the racism and dehumanisation" in the footage and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
