The Nigerian Constitution is been misused in arguments here. It's nothing short of unnecessary distractions. Why can't adherents of the Sango religion wear their charms on their military and police uniforms, or do they not have PERSONAL FREEDOMS? If every nigerian, in the name of PERSONAL FREEDOM comes to public places according to personal inclinations and disposition, what kind of society will we end up having? If Lagos state is 99.99% muslims, what is expected of the minority or what are such statistics insinuating? Adherents of Islam are chronic rebels against order, discipline and common sense all in the name of religion. Or what do you think is responsible for the backwardness of the north. Truth be told: LAGOS STATE IS AT THE VERGE OF DESTRUCTION on the altar of RELIGION. Mark my words.

What makes you think christians hate muslims? What proof do you have that the driver in question is not one of your muslim brothers who will call you "akuya" on the streets of Kano or Katsina? The time you are hoping for may truly come, but have you wondered who will be the end loser? Do you want to be deliberately blind to the present state of Maiduguri and other towns of the North East of Nigeria? You stay in Lagos where people are protecting you with their lives and make noise. People like you are the [problems of this country inflaming situations unnecessarily, and your narrow-minded brothers will begin to burn and maim. Maybe, NL should consider putting faces to posts, that way, we can keep the forum sane and intelligent.

My interest has been drawn to the emphasis on the constitution in this matter. So, the constitution should protect the rights of ONLY one section of society? Then that constitution is worthless for the generality of the public. If the tenets of public schools (mind you, NOT RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS) cannot be respected, then the constitution that grants institutions statutory rights should be reviewed. NL and members should not use the forum to fan embers of cheap popularity and baseless sympathies..

It is a welcome idea. It is a prescription every man who wants to be happy should take. The best and biggest victory any man can attain is victory over self. It reinforces harmony in marriage. Teach her with understanding, keeping yourself under check all the time. I have taught about 10 people to drive and of this number are 5 women. The experience was not bad at the end of it all. Some people love hiding behind culture to carry out their evil missions. Having children does not necessarily mean a woman is married. Some husbands can't even tell their right hand from their left, so it all depends on which side of the divide one belongs. Even Satan sometimes have to pretend to be an angel of light to deceive. After all, Satan is the god of fashion so why won't his disciples defend him on NL under the guise of culture and "if the husband likes it" mentality.

I love NL. I often find here so many self-styled rebels, stupid and absurd commentators. In the order of things both spiritual and material, if all is well, who comes first, the parents or the medicine-man/religious leader? what makes you think you can go into anything as serious as marriage without parental consent/blessing. I know many on NL are not christian nor believe in the Bible, but every day experiences of people show that honoring parents is not just a christian or Jewish thing.

The Bible is not all about sex. Did you, my dear poster, learn Ephesians 6:1-3 as a child? If you did you will not admire any vandal or rebel. What do you think your child will become if he/she learns Psalms 1 and even memorizes it and meditate on it the rest of his life? Proverbs 22:6 gives us the key; "Bring up a child the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it". Your question should really be "what material should we use to give our children a secure future?" Computers and their games are producing their kinds: yahoo-yahoo boys and girls, internet fraudsters and the likes of our horrible members of the Nigerian senate and the house of reps. Big heads, loud mouths, greedy politicians and violent people without any compassion are what you get eventually without the Bible. Look around you.

Your blindness to the truth and the intricacies of governance shows that you and your likes are actually the problems of Nigeria with your unguarded utterances. How long has GEJ been in office? What are the problems of Nigeria? For how long have those problems existed? Who has been at the helm of affairs? Killing innocent Nigerians and burning churches resolves the economic problems of the north?

Many have given you good counsel: wait, think, follow your heart, etc. But how come you just woke up to marriage desires at your age? You mean you never admired any other before you reconnected? What has happened to those others? Between primary school and now so much has changed about you and her. You think she needs freedom and you can give that? Your family trusts you! That's a reason why you must not betray that trust. SLOW DOWN! There are questions you are yet to ask yourself. Marriage is not a private quiet affair eventually - you have neighbors, friends, colleagues who are not living on NL. How does your marriage affect you, her and those relationships?

@chrishenzo: though it be an old story, me thinks it's okay to repost to warn our young people if they will care to listen and consider.One once said, "take heed, beware of covetousness. For the life of man does not consist in the abundance of what one possesses". He also says, "what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul". The craze for faster computers, cars and all the other things people crave, blind people to the dangers they run until it is too late like this young man's case.

Hardwork doesnt have to be suicidal. The profit margin may be small, but decorum and dignity makes the labour worth the while. This woman's son or daughter may be somewhere boasting and loafing on NL or fb, and at the same time pressurizing the parents about some money needed for handout or inexistent project. All the same KUDOS to all mothers. Me thinks they are really hardworking in many ways.
