Politics / Re: Buhari, Dogara Meet Over Saraki’s Trial by InMyOpinion(m): 2:20pm On Oct 06, 2015 |
Saraka's arrogance is just biting him back. After taking over the senate presidency in controversial circumcustances, he would just have reconciled with his party (APC) and other agrived parties when he had the opportunity by ceeding the other principal offices as was arranged- and there wouldnt have been any more noise- this is how politics is played almost everyone - instead he completely ignored everyone (I was actually suprised he didnt do that- i expected him to be smarter). I dont feel anything for or against him. I just hope he learns his lessons from this though |

Politics / Buhari Sacks Service Chiefs by InMyOpinion(m): 3:03pm On Jul 13, 2015 |
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday relieved the nation’s service chiefs of their appointments. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this while speaking to State House correspondents on Monday. Adesina, who did not give more details, added that the Presidency was preparing a statement on the sacking, which would be made available to newsmen. Their replacements had neither been named as of the time of writing this report. There has been an escalation in terror attacks by Boko Haram militants in the country in recent times, leading to the killing of more than 500 people in less than four weeks. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-sacks-service-chiefs/ |

Emmayur: Yes - its only in Africa - and yes thats because we are Africans and this is how things are done here. We have to realize that no matter how advanced we may have become, we still and will always carry our identify as Africans- and that must be respected. The west does not see anything wrong with being single at a certain stage- we do and we should not condemn the west neither should we be cos its their way and its our way ; they do not see annything wrong with a man calling another man "husband" or a woman calling another wife'- we do- Its their way- and its our way. I absolutely agree with you that marriage is a not a measure of success but i will put it to you that neither are money and career alone. In my opinion, success is really intrinsic. Most women stay single and appear to be happy but have a feeling of emptiness deep inside (same for men). Marriage is also a test of one's ability to tolerate and compromise- which I believe is esesntial for human co-existence. Some women do not get married because of situations beyond their control- this is understandable- but a woman who has no such circumstances and chooses to be single, in my opinion, needs help 1 Like 1 Share |

Politics / Opinion: Do We Really Need A Senate??? by InMyOpinion(m): 2:17pm On Jun 25, 2015 |
Now before the knowlege power houses here descend on me, I must admit that i know about legislative affairs only as much as the ordinary Nigerian on the street. But based on this little knowledge and based on what I see around and hear - its quite challenging for me to see any significant difference between what the Senate does from what the House of Representative does. And considering the curent economic reality and the recent need & push for a reduction in cost of governance, the question that begs answers is Do we really need a senate? In my Opnion - NO! Already the house comprises 3 people from each state of the federation - I dont not see any real additional value that the senate adds to legislative business. I see them as a redundant legislative body and an unncesary cost center. In my opinion, the senate should be scrapped when the tenure of the current assemply expires I wish the Moderator could create a poll for this, I believe a lot of people will cast a "No". A referendum may even be conducted if this is required to expunge this body from our constitution Share your thoughts 2 Likes |

Politics / Nigeria’s Forex Reserves Too Low To Defend The Naira! by InMyOpinion(m): 10:43am On Jun 24, 2015 |
The Africa Economist/Managing Director, Citi Bank, Mr. David Cowan has predicted a further devaluation of the naira, arguing that the value of the country’s external reserves is too low to sustain the defence of the currency. Specifically, Cowan said the Central Bank of Nigeria would once more devalue the naira towards the end of the year. He stated this yesterday at the EuroFinance conference in Lagos Responding to questions on the Nigerian economy, on the sidelines of the event, he said: "Nigeria built up a lot of savings for a rainy day, and then it ran those savings down in the last years. When it got hit by an oil price shock, it doesn't have much money that allows it to make a more gradual adjustment that is why the naira came under pressure.” External reserves stood a $29.031 billion as at Monday Furthermore, he said: "The long term solution is to let the naira adjust. If you let the naira adjust, it will increase the amount of revenue going to the government which would help it control its fiscal spending. Yes it would push inflation in the short term but hopefully that should also drive a production response from the agriculture sector." He also urged the new government to focus on power, pointing out that electricity has the potential to transform this country. I know little about Rivers State but I think Wike might just be creating justifications for possible poor performance. He apears to be focusing too much on Ameachi and leaving the work for which he was elected. Simply leave the work of investigating Amechi to the commision of enquiry you already set up and face your work! 1 Like |
