Sin is sin. Some may carry grave penalties though, while others may carry little penalties. Eg someone that steals and is caught can go to PRISON and if he is ARMED he may even be EXECUTED based on NIGERIAN LAW.

Fornication may not carry such penalties but it's still a sin.
