Please for Msc Is ielts/ TOEFL a must, All the schools I have seen do request for English proficiency.
I would advice you email the school to know if they can accept a letter from your school that backed up your language of instructions in higher institution was English.

So I set out today with a 20k budget. I planned on certifying one set of documents at the embassy for free, then waybill it through dhl @ N18,200 and spend the remaining N1,800 on transport and feeding.
I was shocked when I got to the embassy. When it got to my turn the white guy typed something into the computer and was like:
White guy: You have been here before
Me: yes sir smiley
White guy: and you certified docs for 4 schools
Me: well yes
White guy: For this 5th application you'll pay N3,300
Me: But Excuse me sir, when I certified those documents it was done for free and that was in February also the new policy only started this month of May.
White guy: It doesn't matter
Me: What?! shocked
I have heard of the new policy but I thought it meant if you come with more than 3 set of docs you pay didn't know they'll go into their archives.
I had to think fast... If I go it would all be a wasted effort but if I pay I'll have a N3,300 deficit in my budget. Anyways I grudgingly paid the money but left the embassy like a bizman who had just lost his container of goods in the ocean.
@ 2pm I picked up my docs and my next move was dhl for waybill but I was short of 3.3k. FedEx is 16k but it still did not solve the 3.3k deficit. Calling anyone for money wasn't an option and I had to stick to my 20k budget. If you're wondering why I didn't use Nipost or whatever, well my deadline is 31st May and I need it delivered within 2-3days.
@ dhl office
The nice lady: Good afternoon , how may I help you?
Me: I have a package for Germany, school docs to be precise
The nice lady: it would cost you N18,200
Me: these are school docs and I want a discount.
I thought she would just laugh at my silly comment of "discount" but instead she looked at me typed sth in the computer and said: "erh...uhm...OK actually we have student discount and it would cost me N13,200 instead.
Nah wow ooo!!! shocked
Me: So you people do student discount and you never mentioned it and I spent 18.2k the last time hmmm...there's God ooo
The nice lady: sorry I forgot to mention it and its just a new policy.
I knew she was lying but thank God sha. On my way home I met two people I haven't seen for sometime. The first was a young girl she is a hardworking apprentice hairdresser. I dashed her 500 naira maybe because I was in goodmood and I just saved extra money from dhl. The 2nd person was a schoolmate, he was excited to see me and said we should go hangout that he would pay. God knows I was very hungry and haven't eaten since morning. Oh boy! I ate and drank more than my initial I.8k budget for food and transport, he even dropped me off at my place.

I know my post is long but who cares? I met an old friend, I'm 6000naira richer and God watches over me cool
Nice one ....

Okay...I posted here two days ago or so that uni assist sent me a mail stating that my online signed application form was missing.. and how I was sure is wasn't, that I sent it.

I decided to put my frustration and anger in a mail back to them that there must be a mistake some where that am 100% sure I added the signed online application.

I got a mail from them now, confirming the receipt of my documents stating that they received my online application form, certificates and other documents.

Abeg, why were they playing around before...
Thanks to Jah. No mind them

Ok bro... in my case I want 2 apply to 3 schls....does the lecturer have 2 write 3 letters addressed separately to the schls?
Well, I will suggest you use 'To whom it may
concern'. Do you think some lectures have that
time to write, sign three different hardcopies
with the same content. Even some people self
find it difficult to sit down and write just one
for person.

Its your choice though but what if at the end
of the day you decided to apply to more than
three schools, does it mean you will rush down
back to school to get another.
My opinion though.

I'll advise you have them separate...he only needs to change the names of the schools with probably same content of recommendation! Cheers

Why are you complicating the matter Biko. I read few pages back you were properly advised. Get your Bsc transcripts, cos you need it. Why do you have just 100 level and 300 level transcripts? What happened to 200 & 400 level transcripts? You have been told as well that unless the school is adamant about an English language test, a letter from your university confirming that you studied in English will certainly be adequate. All you had to do was email the course coordinator/ admission office in Germany to confirm if the said document will suffice.

Cheers
Well some people like to complicate issues for themselves

Ok thank you bros
But from all form I tried to fill they requested for ssce nd for d cv they said no gaps in years
If I am to go to my sch for recommendation letter how long do u think it take to process it?
To the best of my knowledge, if you include your Bsc degree there might really be no gaps but if you do not then you have to account for what you were doing for those few years you were in school for Bsc.

Well it depends on your rapport with the lecturers in question and how you table it down before them. Its what you can get within 24 hours or atmost 48 hours. You might humbly tell them how urgent it is. we all know most of our lecturers don't really take it serious while some do.

Pls house I would be glad if someone gave me an urgent reply.

I have been seeing people fill in for masters and no one for bsc.
Though I ve completed my bsc I still want to do a second bsc

1. In my cv do I ve to fill in my previous uni nd nysc?
2. Been thinking on how to get the recommendation letters vid they specifically requested for 2.
3. Does TOEFL/IELTS really matter cos a friend said it doesn't nd I ve noticed nobody talks about it here. Or do I assume every body got the 50 - 85k for d exam?

Thanks as u reply
1. Sometimes its good to let them know you already have Bsc here in Nigeria. I don't really see any problem with that and if you don't its a matter of choice.

2. Recommendation letter, why not go to your undergraduate lecturers collect it from them ( probably they will use the department letter head)

3. Some schools accept official letter from your school that backed you up your language of instruction was english. You can get this at exams and records in your school OR you present TOEFL/IELTS

Good day house,

I am new here thou I have been following this thread for quite some time. Please how does one open a block account using Finitiba, do l have to certify my signature at the embassy? book appointment? must I wait for the admission letter to arrive? infact how do I go about it? Pls people kindly help a sister, pls dont tell me to read back I take God beg una. Vielen dank.
To the best of my knowledge ma'am. Fitinba is another medium apart from going to the embassy to open block account. Hence, if you wanna use fitinba you need not book any appointment with the embassy. Go online, fill the form with needed details and your account will be opened and sent to you few days after. You can then book appointment for interview and go with your account details from fitinba.

Go and notarize your document at the german embassy

@ futurewise @ horlalaykon

Thank you for the response. But I need to know if it's both the transcript and my certificate or just the certificate. Because transcript was certified copy issued by the school and stamped as well. Contained the how it was graded.
You have been advised rightly. Go to german embassy, certify your transcript and certificate . Its quite safer that way OR better still go to high court

Hello All. I have been having issues with sending in my application for Winter session via uni-assist.
Do we have anyone who has successfully submitted to : 1 Hamburg university 2 Kleve, HS Rhein-Waal
The desired course is anything related to IT / Computer Science.
Suggested schools that have opened for the course above are welcome as I need submit about 3 applications ASAP.

The error I get when I applied to the 2 schools earlier mentioned is below:
"Unfortunately your search returned no results. The application period for the study course you have chosen has not started yet. Please ask your chosen university when your study course will be released.
If you enter only the university as search parameter, you will see the list of all current courses offered by this university."

Thanks in advance.
Check your desired institution website, if I am correct it probably means your desired institution application period has not started. you will need to check the school website to ascertain when the application window for that course starts.

Although, some schools do allow application from uni-assist to commence at the moment just like hafencity does . Buh the direct online application to the school might start few weeks to this time.

Good morning everyone! , does that mean certification of ones documents in a High Court is equivalent to German embassy?
Thanks
To the best of my knowledge, certification can be done either at notary/court OR embassy.
Its now based on individual decision to choose either of the two.

I would say certification at the high court is as well accepted EXCEPT if your school state it that they only accept that of embassy.

You are good to go if certification is done at notary public

Getting first hand information by oneself is very much ok. the reason why JBONITO suggested you flip back through some pages so as to get the message perfectly well.

Opening of block account, I cannot really remember the actual amount I saw at the embassy lastweek .

Glad to be here!

Just took the first step in securing a place to study in Germany. Would like to do a Masters in Media and Communication Science at Ilmenau University of Technology, Ilmenau. [ What do you think about the school and location?].

But the school requires some proof of English proficiency in form of TOEFL...[Please see screenshot below]. Is it compulsory that I do any of these exams since English is the official language of Nigeria.

P.S: I'm a fresh graduate, yet to get my certificate and transcript but I really want to move sooner than later.

Please advice.
Best bet;
1. Write English language test and get the required score
OR
2. Mail the school and explain to them that language of instruction during your undergraduate was English, If they accept that, hence you will need to go to your school and get a letter in your school that backed it up that your language of instruction is English.

Why not make do with the second option first and try it out. My own advice though.

Hello please I'll need to get enlightened about this "certification of documents". From what I've read on the thread, ones academic docs could either get certified at German embassy or a notary public although I stand to be corrected. Then on the long run (ie. after having gained admission), will certification of docs at the German embassy have any positive impact on one's visa application other than those who didn't certify @ the embassy. I might sound like a JJC but we all know that getting well-informed is the currency of success these days.
As hadassaheke rightly said. It won't. I believe certification mainly is to ascertain the documents you presented for admission purpose is not FAKE.

Book appointment as hadassaeke as rightly said, if you wanna certify it at Lagos embassy, click below link;

And look for this. "Services for university applicants, language
course participants as well as students who
are already admitted to a German
university" then click continue below it.
