Lets give praise where it is due. Whatever held back the road repairs for the past few decades has been hit by the miracle of GEJ; it is like the impossible has happened.

Jeez!!! RCC hasn't been on that road for decades. They were initially awarded the Okada to Ogbese (in Ondo) contract to expan from 2 lanes to 4 lanes on each side but they abandoned that contract as the major benin-ore contract which they also won was given top priority.

They mobilized with a camp site along the Okada road sumtime in 2007-2008, and they even have a base within the Igbinedion University Crown estate where most of their expatriate workers stay.

Truth is GEJ will never take full credits on this one. A major expressway of 400km+ can't be reconstructed in 1+years.

If Tony Blair awarded a contract for a nuclear power station and it gets completed and operational in 2012, does David Cameron have any right to it?

There's a lot of work for GEJ ahead and I'm he'll get to build enuf pipelines to supply gas to the 9000 to 10000MW capacity power stations existing around the country. Once he does that, then he'll begin to receive the accolades in droves.

Regards the Benin-Ore road, everything I wrote is true!! The pictures I snapped are true! The Ore section as I acknowledged in the article(which is less than 10km out of about 400km) still stays bad till this day and I am not sure why. Perhaps the rains have slowed down work!

Seems you left out the last paragraph. I've been a frequent on that road and its true. It's been in progress since then with substantial portions already done. I bliv photos were uploaded as proof and anyone familiar with that road would instantly be able to identify its look.

GboyegaD: With RCC as the contractor, I truly do not see the road lasting a long time before it starts cracking up. The Ibadan - Ife road is a very good example of their work in the past.

I fink the benin -ore road would be different. They actually dug up dirt on select portions of the road as deep as 6 feet in my own estimation.

Not a civil engineer but what from what i saw its like they identified the troublespots (mostly the places affected by gully erosion) and dug up the asphalt, the base and sand beneath etc. They then solidified these areas wiv those big granite stones b4 topping it off wiv sand and then d normal foundation road mix and then ashpalt.

Gist is that some parts of the road were rushed up coz someone was coming to commission the road. These rushed parts are later what gave way to become the parts affected by gully erosion between the Okada and Benin ends of the road.

Select portions of the reconstructed road are @ least two years old and they haven't began to give way or have any potholes or even minors.

Am just sayin that it seems these guys did a thorough job on this road. The quality is amazing from an aesthetic point of view, can't say structurally

when i say the road is still as it is, i mean its still on the maintenance stage that has been going on since late 2010 till date! there is no additional new lanes yet! they are still maintaining the old lanes!

the level of repairs on the road can honestly be rated 58% cause some part is just laid with MC1 and gravels. while some part is laid with asphalt for like 3km then their is a break of about another 4kms then some part is filled with gravels and some part the equipments are there but no major work done yet!

From Ore down to the beginning of Edo boundary past Okada and down. That's a lot more than 3km bro.

How frequently have u passed that road in recent years? Are you aware that construction didn't just begin last year? Not even the year before? When did GEJ become president, acting or otherwise? I tell you that construction was on already before then.

Maybe not OBJ but Yar Adua's govt was the one who gave out the contract to RCC. GEJ can't claim 100% praise on this. At best he wud be applauded for not delaying funds or retracting the contract.

The pic doesn't actually best represent the standard portions of the road. I guess the portion with pics taken isn't fully completed.

The 100% completed parts have two lanes, a third park lane/mini lane made up of compressed gravel and then a V-shaped drainage beside it. This is on both sides.

The major portion of the road was contracted to RCC and I know they came on site and started working since 2007 - 2008 latest, well before Jonah got into power. He can't take the praise for this. That's for OBJ/Yar'Adua.

It's good to see the project received needed funding sha. It's been good for a while now and I think I mentioned it here last year. They've been reconstructing the road for years now so there are no major terrible spots like there used to be any longer.

My opinion is that American control of the World Bank is not just in the nationality of who runs it. He who pays the piper dictates the tune. America is the Worlds Bank largest contributor with a 15% voting share on the board. In contrast Nigeria as well as most African countries have less than 1% in voting powers.

senben: The nigerian police has long been useless if my friend some years ago could slap a policeman and go scot free with it and for Nigeria Army because they have been paraded and Used for civil cases they are losing their respect especially here in the north where dey have been used to mount road blocks. Wen dey don't get paid dey will end up asking for 20-50 naira for food. Dis is haw far we have fared.

The only road blocks I know are on the inter-state highways and they are there cause the police has been useless so far.

gulfer: The last time i remember a useful police force was when they only carried batons and useful soldiers was when they were restricted to the barracks while in uniforms (Way back early 80s).

Right now Soldiers are still not permitted to wear their camo uniforms outside the barracks but flouting this law is mostly amongst the NCOs. And I also think most of those we see have been assigned to maintain security @ some place in the neighborhood, hence they'd be on their camo.

Soldiers have the light green and dark trouser office wear.

I think that The Nigerian Police and Nigerian army are becoming increasingly useless.
I was on my way to Enugu and on getting to Awka, I saw a soldier on uniform sleeping, just after Aroma junction. Though, there was a sign of military check point there but they were somewhere sleeping.
On getting to Enugu, just in front of Holy Ghost Catheral, I saw a team of soldiers and police arresting okada riders indiscriminately.
And so I started to wonder, what are these people really paid for? To sleep on duty? To arrest okada men, who are legitimately looking for their daily bread?
Again, in the north, where they are needed, they have failed woefully. They are attacked and killed, even in their stations.
Do these people still worth their pay with taxpayers' money including mine?
What are they doing in the south and what have they achieved in the north?

About the bombing issue. Well, all I can say is don't be deceived. Conventional armies were never built for nonconventional wars. Even in Pakistan and Afganistan, the major battles were won as a result of intelligence gathered by the CIA and fed to the Marine Corps or US Army. In Nigeria, our Army has to double as an intelligence agency as well as being a normal army. It isn't easy bro.

On the efficiency of our Army I can tell you that I've being in the middle of a religious crisis and it was the army that saved us. The police was completely useless even with their AK-47's. It was the Army who came in and did the work including arresting suspects and handing them over to the police.

We should learn to praise our own little by little.

There are many bible apps on mobile devices that outperform the traditional pen and biro approach.

For one the Youversion bible apps allow you to take notes, bookmark verses, and highlight specific paragraphs.

Truthfully I find this more convenient as I can just scroll through my pastors messages @ any time of the day. Someone using your approach would probably need to carry his church jotter everywhere he goes for that to happen.

If @ all there's a split the country is likely to continue splitting until each of the major tribes in each political zone have a home for themselves. We'd have the North, Middle Belt, SW,SE, SS.

Now what the proponents of a split fail to realise is that each of the geo-political zones is like a Nigeria on its own with hundreds of tribes under a single dorminant tribe. There's bound to be friction, agitation for these lesser tribes to either be free from these unions and have strong representation in political affairs in fairness.

With that said, the problem with Nigeria is not that we are bound together, it's that we've failed to realise the advantages of our unity. We've failed to give the smallest man a sense of unity in every part of the country and some individuals still have the "this is my land, you shouldn't come and settle here mentality".

Truth is there should be ground rules for what constitutes residents and ancestoral owners of the land set forth by our constitution. Besides that, each individual must be able to settle, build a home or business in any part of the country without oppression or repression from the owners of the land.

Once the concept of residency comes into place, we'd have far less problems than we currently do.

Reputation Management is Zero. And you've definitely acted like a weakling in the past.

okay, so i went to withdraw some money from a first bank atm with an access card only for the machine to debit me and pay me nothing. i'm really getting fed up and frustrated. i cant sleep for this reason, nor can i even study and im just so upset about the whole thing. you might wonder what the big deal is and why i wont just go and complain:

I'll give you two reasons
1. this is not the first time this is happening
2. i need the money like right now

The first time it happened, I complained but nothing was done about it-i decided not to drag it cos it was a small amount. now, the amount is big and I'm feeling nauseated right now. I'm thinking of storming the bank first thing Monday morning and yelling the whole place down. short of this, I don't know what else to do? can u guys please help me out

First things First, depending on why the ATM was unable to give you cash, your account may be credited with the amout you were trying to withdraw within 24hrs (this is the norm).

If this doesn't happen, walk into your home branch (where you opened the account) to lodge a complaint. They'd give you a form to fill.

You need to be friendly to the staff so they'd help you push things through. Being insultive or aggresive never helps.

Once you fill and submit the form, the staff would send emails to Interswitch and Firstbank notifying them and requesting a reversal of that transaction since you weren't cashed but debited.

Follow the staff in charge of your case closely and hopefully things would settle within a week.

If this doesn't work, visit the accessbank website, get their customer care email address and send them a comprehensive email detailing your situation with relevant details such as the date it happened, your ac numba, where the atm was located etc etc.

@ the end of the day you should get your money back.
