And they say we are ripe for State police...smh. |
@lolo, the BRT service was extremely necessary and, while i admit it was squeezed into an already congested road, i must say i have no regrets about it. Fashola's only option would have been to expand the road, which would have been quite expensive and would have involved a whole lot of demolition as most of the buildings along the stretch from western avenue all the way to Ketu virtually hug the road. not to talk of the internet warriors that would come here to declare fashola the demolishing dictator.
You have a strong point. But I never liked the idea of limiting lanes exclusively for BRT buses. |
With all these stories, is it same to assume that the average Nigerian is a selfish coward? Aluu 4 - No one could speak out for victims Shoprite Lady - Nobody And now, everybody ran away as people were roasting to death. And the only person who had the courage to assist made a wrong judgement call to use an umbrella, possibly under the tension of the scenario. I think we Nigerians really suck @ helping each other in times of distress. |
new maonza: Not in the Manner they are going about it.... mind u itz not FASHOLA that would suffer it( He is heavily Guarded by security men and He has a sirened Convoy to always clear the road for him in case of HEAVY TRAFFIC....)Contrary to what you think, Fashola doesn't use a siren, his convoy is quite small (4-5 cars max) and there's no road clearing. Seen his convoy atleast 5 times. |
1forall: Only in a sick country like Nigeria would you have a 'good governance' team, is governance supposed to be bad?You must be a hater from Togo. No Nigerian could talk this way...smh. |
amaba: A sane society and govt should provide job opportuniuties, infrastructures for people.Don't be ignorant. - VI, Lekki, Ikoyi - Wrong. There's been a lot of development in places like Ikeja, Surulere, and even down to places like Ikotun, Ejigbo and Okota (there's signs of completed roadworks and others still ongoing in these areas). I can name names if you want. - Traffic offence is criminalized all around the world. You either pay a ticket fine or go to jail/court for refusing to pay. - Tolls and tax are two different concepts. Tolls are usually for road maintenance. Tax as you know, is tax. Countries that collect taxes and tolls include US, Japan, Canada, and so many others, are you saying Nigeria should be left out? - You are right here. Squeezing the BRT lane into our already congested roads is wrong to me. - Job opportunities? Infrastructure? Well that has been the norm for the last 52yrs. The LASG is only trying to make things better. If you think Okadas should continue plying expressways, struggling with trailers, cars, and all what not. Then your on your own. |
It is only in Nigeria that people see the unlawful as lawful and go on to protest when a right thinking government decides to correct things. Same thing happened to the Oshodi make-over and people were complaining then, but are praising the decision today. Truth is that Okadas have no business plying state/inter-city routes. Taking a bike from Oshodi to Cele, or from Maryland to Ikorodu, or Yaba to Ojota is madness that should be nipped in the bud. No bikes on expressways. That's what prevails in any sane society. Someone should correct me if am wrong. |
thelastPope: Dude, I don't think you live in naija. There is probably around a police to citizens ratio of 1 to 1000 people in Lagos. In the last 2 years, there has been an increase in arm robbery attacks in residential estates in Lagos.Increase in robberies in which estates and areas exactly? Don't give us half truths as facts. |
I think in the long run, having staggered elections would be the best. But how to go about is the thing. A lot of people would bring sentiment into the whole thing. |
Here's the new local airport.
|
Why was the old local airport refurbished? What happens to MMA2 built by Bicourtney?
Well, the MMA2 was built as an Airport Terminal not the main Airport building itself. The cargo terminals and a lot of Airlines make use of the old local terminal building. Its all about expanding capacity. My suspicion based on what I saw is that this new government-built is going to be bigger than the MMA2 in terms of size and possibly passengers it can process. |
This article is referring to the old local airport for those in doubt. Was there a few weeks ago and the place is completely changed. The main structure is a transparent glass house with some brown padding on the sides. Really nice work I must say. Tho the building itself is done, can't say for the finishing, lightening etc. Easy for this to be ready within 3 mths if they are serious sha. Would have taken pics but didn't want any issues with the Mopol men stattioned there. |
A quorum for state HOA is 1/3 of the total number of members present minus the presiding officer But to impeach 2/3 of member votes is needed (excludes presiding officer who can't vote unless to split a tie). They needed to be atleast 16 members in that house for this to be legal. |
Why don't they tell China, Malaysia, Thailand, and even the United States. Some of these useless noise making agencies should be kicked out of our country for good. |
A lot of Nigerians wouldn't acknowledge the fact that our Middle Class has steadily expanded over the last 12 years. The growth our economy has experienced is behind this. |
As a Christian I oppose the payment of monthly tithes for a number of reasons. The modern day Christian does it out of routine, and almost as a means of bribing God so that their blessings can be released onto them. Let me say that for those who tithe and say it works for them, its not the tithe that brings blessings, its your believe that you'll be blessed that brings blessing. The era where Men of God center on financial gathering, forgeting their communities, and those around them is not right in my books. Jesus came to preach two things only. Love God, Love your Neighbor. Love means respect. You don't give respect to God by brain washing to God by telling them to bring their tithes or they be damned to hell. A lot of these churches even forget to preach the essence of loving your neighbor and giving to those in need. There are spiritual laws. And tithing isn't one of them, atleast not any more. Rather, giving is the basic tool to which any believer will be blessed insurmountable. Love, respect and give to your neighbors. Tithe or donate or make an offering if you feel that's what you want to be doing. But alas everything should be "In the Name of the Lord, the Most High" even as he commanded the Isrealites in the OT. |
Demdem: If true, why did it take the retardeen so long. Suspension was speedily done but reinstatement took eternity. Anyway, I commend him sha.Case was in court. Guess they waited for it to be thrown out first which is the correct thing to do. |
Someone was saying that if we all don't tithe, the kingdom of God wouldn't move forward. Well this is where charity offerings to the church come in. Today, tithes don't even benefit the very parish in which they are paid. (In the big pentecostal churches, the tithes go up the ladder from the local parish, up up till it gets to the national level). Am very sure that fhemmy, or no other person can come up with a scriptural backing for this practice. |
Fhemmmy: Read my comment well, i never told you to follow no one . . . Only asking the gentleman if he is willing to do all Abran did since he is following Abram footstep as the reason why he is not paying tithe . . .He's following Abraham, Jesus and his disciples, plus the early christians who were never known to pay tithe. |
Fhemmmy: I have shown you in the new testament, where it talks about your tithes . . . It is up to you to blv it or just leave it and again, i am not trying to force you to blv what i blv, i am just telling you what the Bible said . . and the stuff in old testament that has been abolished are where we used to worship God thru man, that now we have access to Baba God ourselvesI think everyone should set aside atleast 10%. You may spend that on Church, Needy kids etc. Sick and tired of the institutions and personalised churches we have now a days. One can't even request for your church account statement to see how the monies accrued are being spent without "bad eye". Every church is trying to have a second school, university, and go into businesses they have no business being in in the first place. |
Fhemmmy: Same Christ said, he has not come to take away the law but to perfect it, we are always quick to remember whose law is tithing when it comes to money . . . Human being shaHebrews 8:13 In that He says, A new covenant, He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. NT supercedes OT in my books. |
No one has answered any of my questions If the Bible clearly instructs Priest (the Pastor) not to own property, why are our Pastors of today contravening this? |
afam4eva: I'm not even talking about whether a pastor is eating the tithe or not. What i'm asking is that, was it written explicitly that people must pay their tithes in a Church?Malachi 3:10. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. |
Deuteronomy 14: 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice. 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own. My Questions are: 1. The levites were the ones doing the works of God serving as Priests etc in the bible. God clearly declared that they should own no lands or valued properties of their own. How are Pastors ignoring this and buying private jets for their private use? 2. God clearly states that Tithes (which were crops or animals as in the OT days) can be converted to money and spent on whatever your heart desires. How does this reflect on the present day you must bring 10% to the church syndrome? 3. There is no where in the NT where tithe was mentioned. None of Jesus's disciplies was known to pay tithe. And Jesus himself was never known to pay Tithe @ the temple during his days. If we can safely assume (based on the absense of anything tithe in the NT) that Jesus didn't pay tithe during his time, where are we Christians being convinced to pay tithe? Would appreciate someone who can answer these questions in detail and intelligently, as they've bugged me for quite sometime. |
Turbocharged: Instead of spending so much money on the TAM & upgrade, govt should have privatized the refineries and u wl see those investors managing them wt the highest level of professionalism.Would be diFficult to private the refineries or even have private firms build their own refineries with this fuel subsidy still in place. Govt had to remove the subsidy on electricity from 4kwh to the 16+kwh today to make it attractive for private investors. |
For people who can't read, the committee's job is to play an advisory role and raise funds to curb or manage the crisis. 13bn is to be shared to the states while 4bn is for Federal Govt agencies and parastatals. So there is basically nothing left for the committee to "share". |
Segun agagu: Okk but I saw it in one of d post here..dats y I asked..I dont actually think its d right tin..or wat do u think..Don't think its the right thing too. I take water while eating and after eating. Helps my metabolism. Can't even imagine waiting to finish eating to take water talkless 2hours. Do what you think is best for you friend. |
Would have been nice to have put up a link that supports your argument. I think water helps food go down, digest and all that. Doesn't matter when you take it, just ensure you take more than one big eva bottle per day which is what I go with. |

That's the temporary voters card issued for the 2011 elections. Each has ur photo, and personal bio as well as finger print markings to know if all your fingers were captured during the exercise. |
Great move. This has potential to include millions of unbanked folks into the system. |
