Senator Dino Melaye, former Governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso and 13 other Senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki made the announcement on Tuesday during plenary.

Other Senators include Barnabas Gemade(Benue), Shaaba Lafiaji(Kwara), Rafiu Ibrahim(Kwara), Abdulazeez Nyako(Adamawa), Monsurat Sunmonu(Oyo) and Usman Nafada(Gombe).

Also, Senators Suleiman Hunkuyi, Ibrahim Danbaba, Ubale Shittu, Isah Misau, Suleiman Nazif, Soji Akanbi.

After the announcement by the Senate President, some Senators started chanting “PDP”, in the chamber.

The Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, however, appealed to the defecting Senators not to defect.

He noted that the ruling party APC has its own internal disagreement but “this does not translate to factionalization, therefore, they (Senators) have no reason to defect”.

The founder and senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries Church, Pastor David Ibiyeomie in his message titled: "Value base leadership and evil silence in the palace", was heard on viral video blasting the Feral Government of Nigeria for placing more value to the lives of cows than human lives.

According to the man of God, "'It is only in Nigeria that cows are more valuable than human lives"

Below are one of the things he said on the video:

"Do you know why God put you there as a Christian to be in that position? Silence connotes consent. So every believer no matter the position they occupy who is not talking about the evil, it means, they accepted.

To tell me that you don't agree with the killings and blood-letting going on in this country Nigeria and you are in the palace as a leader, whether as a Christian or not, is simply making a fool and mockery of yourself.

The killings going on in the middle-belt region and other parts of this country where Christians are killed like chickens must stop. And we say, it must stop.

Christian politicians in the palace who cannot react and resign against the mass slaughtering of Christians in Nigeria should know that they have failed woefully. In the ark of covenant, and should honourably throw- in-towel.

To claim to be fighting corruption and not fight the destruction of lives and properties of people under your custody amount to wickedness.

When did money become more valuable than the lives of people? How can a man claimed to be pursuing thieves and allow his children to be dying? How many herdsmen and their sponsors have being caught up and be prosecuted?

It is only in Nigeria that cattle, cows are more have value than human beings. When a leader does not feel pained when the lives of innocent citizens are snatched by some barbaric set of people who called themselves herdsmen, then, we invariably don't have leaders. No where in the world are cows are valued more than human. In which country do you see cows grazing in people's farmland? And some bunch of people are proposing grazing bill. Are they calling you and I fool?

And we have leaders who are Christians. I think they should all resign. They have sold their conscience for their stomach, they have denied the faith. If they cannot stand up for Christians, then they have failed. If you said you are a Christian and cannot raise your voice against these senseless killings. Then please, resign. I repeat, resign because you have failed.

Well to all of you who are politician, you can all lie to outside world and control the media houses because they are not carrying the stories of what is happening but the blood of the innocent cannot be silence.

How can the business of selling cows be more important than the lives of Nigerian if their is no religious undertones to it?

It seems to me to believe that the only way to apply for military security in Nigeria is to behave like a cow because once you behave like a cow, they military and government will protect you.

The person of value will not allow his personal interest affect the generality of people thereby causing them unbearable pains and regret. As a politician and power broker, if you refuse to pay attention to the tears of the people, they will soon tear you down.

If you refuse to pay attention to the plight of the people, they will fight you. It is impossible to give meanings living, without valuable lifestyle. Any politician that sponsors evil and bloodshed lack values for life. All politicians on all levels should have a change of hearts. Don't play politics with people's lives. They are the reason you are occupying that office. Value and cherish the people you are leading if you must make meaning to them."

Speaking further, the bold clergyman listed things to know about shedding and drinking of innocent blood:

1. It brings great loses instead of gains {Genesis 37:26}

2. Those who shed innocent human blood will have their blood shed by others {Genesis 9:6}

3. The blood of innocent cry out for God's judgement revenge {Genesis 4:10, 1 Kings 21:19}

4. Shedding innocent human blood can lead to generational torture and destruction {Luke 11:50-51}:
"All the blood that have being shedding in Plateau, in Benue, in everywhere, God will take vengeance in the name of Jesus."

5. The blood of innocent human being pursue the killer until he or she dies {Ezekiel 35:6}

6. God will require the blood of the murdered Christians from the hand of Christian politicians in authority that refused to react and take actions against the killings because of positions and what they can get from the authority [Genesis 4:8-11]

7. All the Christians in authority today who have refused to react to the evil killings of innocent Christians in the land thinking they will escape being killed because of their position definitely will not go unpunished. [Esther 4:13-14]

"Hear this and hear me well. There is no Christian in authority who will say he does not know what is happening. Raise your voice now and tell them enough is enough. Nigeria must have peace.

We've being having peace in this country, we've being living together before now. Gowon ruled Nigeria and we came together as one, it is his own State now they are killing people. He was a military officer, if he killed people like this, Nigeria would have been divided, Plateau is where he come from. He, himself said Nigeria should not divide. That is where they are killing people. If he ruled Nigeria the way they are ruling now, Nigeria wouldn't have being one. We have always lived with different religions as one. They way things are going, if they don't stop it, Nigeria will divide We are prophets. If this thing does not stop, what it will cause, it will be devastated. The earlier they say; 'enough is enough' not political issue, call a spade-a-spade. It is not a party issue, if somebody is bad, tell him, 'Sir, you are bad', this is wrong. Don't pretend even when it is wrong and keep quiet.

Yes, no party is bad but when a person is bad, tell him, 'this thing is bad and it is bad', condemn it don't pretend as if you don't know what is happening. A middle-aged man has reportedly died at Okomoko in Etche LGA after taking a mixture of dry gin and tramadol.

We gathered that the young man, simply identified as Chibuike, who is popularly known as Achi, died on Thursday evening.

Eyewitness account stated that the deceased had gone to a bakery to beat another young man whom he had accused of snatching his girlfriend from him.

It was gathered that he collapsed on his way to his house immediately after beating the other young man.

However, when his pockets were searched, a bottle of dry gin, tramadol, lighter and a penknife was found in his pocket.

As at the time of filing this report, the police have arrested both the boy he had accused of snatching his girlfriend and the said girlfriend.

“My dear people of Rivers State

Recall that the last Local Government election was hurriedly conducted in the dying days of the previous government, precisely on the 23rd of May 2015, one week before the end of their term in office.

2. Apart from the timing, the ill-fated elections was conducted in flagrant disobedience of a valid and subsisting restraining order from the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court. Consequently, on the 22nd of July 2015, the Federal High Court found the election as illegal, sacked the purportedly elected officials and dissolved the Councils for being products of unlawful electoral process.

3. Since then, it has been impossible to conduct a fresh Local Government election in the State because of the ongoing legal challenge mounted by the sacked chairmen and their political party over the validity of the cancellation of the said election by the lower court.

4. However, after three years of legal vacillation it is now clear that the subject matter or fundamental interest of the claimants in that case has practically been wasted by effluxion of time and whatever remedies derivable by the parties, if any, can only be nominal.

5. While the legal challenge continues, the people of Rivers State are denied their rights to freely elect officers to run the Councils democratically. However, as things stand now, we have no other choice but to conduct the local government election and allow democracy to settle and thrive once again at the grassroots and drive the development of our communities.

6. It was on this strength that I directed the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RVSIEC), to initiate the process of conducting the Local Government election in the 2nd quarter of 2018 so that the Councils can properly be constituted to discharge their constitutional responsibilities to the people.

7. In compliance with this directive, RVSIEC has since started the process and fixed the local government election in the State for next Saturday the 16th of June 2018.

8. I can confirm to you that the election will take place as scheduled in all the 4442 units, 319 wards and 23 local government areas of the State as there is no legal obstacle significant enough to warrant otherwise.

9. Let me therefore appeal to all registered voters to turn out in their numbers to vote for the candidates of their choice. This is a civic responsibility you must exercise in order to rekindle the touch of democracy, good governance and accountability in the local government system.

10. I am very pleased with the information that 67 out of the 68 registered political parties have fielded candidates for the elections and are therefore participating.

11. I am equally pleased with the assurances from RVSIEC that it is ready to conduct free, fair and credible elections come Saturday June 16, 2018. For us, this is an irreducible minimum and we demand nothing less as Government will hold the Commission strictly accountable for any acts or omissions that compromise the integrity of both the process and the elections.

12. While we are ready to support the security agencies to secure the State and ensure that the elections are peaceful, we are minded to call on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their agents to refrain from their plan to cause mayhem and disrupt the elections in the following Local Government areas:
• Abua/Odual
• Akuku Toru
• Asari Toru
• Degema
• Emohua
• Ikwerre
• Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni
• Opobo, and
• Tai

13. The arrowheads of this satanic plot, the State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Mr. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, the former Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr. Emmanuel Chinda and the current Nigeria’s Ambassador to Netherlands, Ambassador Oji N. Ngofa are recruiting and arming political thugs with guns to be deployed on the eve of the election to create an atmosphere of insecurity create in these and other local government areas and scare voters to shun the polling stations.

14. Mr. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree is a double murder suspect who has refused to submit himself to trial. Yet, this fugitive to justice recently emerged as a factional State chairman of his party against a court order and is now emboldened by the protection he is getting from the Police and the Federal Government to engage in subversive activities against the interest and people of Rivers State.

15. In the light of the these dangerous threats from Ojukaye and co-travellers therefore, I wish to call on the security agencies, especially the Nigerian Police to live up to their primary responsibility of providing adequate security for the election and deal decisively with those who may attempt to disturb the peace, order and security of the State before, during and after the election.

16. Thankfully, I have received concrete assurances from the heads of all the security agencies that they have put adequate measures to secure the peace and ensure orderly conduct of the election and we shall hold them personally and professionally accountable should the contrary be experienced in the State.

17. Community leaders and members of the public should be on the watch out and report suspicious characters and movements in their localities and neighbourhoods to the law enforcement agencies for immediate action.

18. Also, the security agencies have definite instructions to strictly enforce the restrictions on human and vehicular movement on Election Day and arrest any person or group of persons that violate this order. All those who have no official business with conducting the election should therefore stay away from the polling units after casting their votes or risk arrest and prosecution.

19. Finally, I urge leaders of political parties and their candidates to advise their supporters and agents to peacefully conduct themselves during and after the election.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on Chairmen and Commissioners of National and States Assembly Service Commissions to work out modalities to improve the productivity of parliamentary staff.

Speaking during a Courtesy Visit by the Chairmen and Commissioners of National and States Assembly Service Commissions at the Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Wike said that the parliamentary staff are critical to the development of the legislative arm of Government.

Governor Wike urged the Chairmen and Commissioners of National and States Assembly Service Commissions to work with the National and State Lawmakers for the greater success to be achieved.

He said the peer review conference holding in Rivers State will help the Chairmen and Commissioners of National and States Assembly Service Commissions identify important areas that require improvement .

The governor commended the National and State Assembly Commissions for choosing Rivers State for their peer review programme as it will help dispel the propaganda by the opposition that the state is unsafe.

He said: "We are happy that this peer review conference is taking place here. This will give all participants the opportunity to see first hand that Rivers State is safe.

"There is no need to politicise security and governance. We should see political parties as vehicles to take us to a destination. Thereafter, the focus should be governance. We cannot play politics endlessly ".

He charged the Chairmen and Commissioners of National and States Assembly Service Commissions to place the interest of the country above partisan consideration.

In his remarks, Executive Chairman of National Assembly Service Commission, Dr Adamu Fika praised Governor Wike for the support to the Rivers State Assembly Service Commission, which has enabled the commission build a befitting office complex and develop needed facilities.

He commended the Rivers State Governor for the massive developmental projects across the state and investments in the security infrastructure of the state.

The StandPoint Church has spoken on the death Omamen Iyawe, the wife of Pastor Idahosa Iyawe, Assistant Pastor of The StandPoint Church, Abuja. Iyawe died on the 4th of March 2018, during Sunday service.

According to the church, “the 29-year-old mom who was deeply and intensely lost in worship, lifted up her hands and slumped.”
