A social media User have taken to a social platform to share a sad story of a man she encountered by the road side in Rivers State. In a multiple tweets made by Twitter user with a handle @LordRotim who shared said: "Yo peeps! This man was dropped behind Degema LGA NYSC Secretariat, getting close to 2 weeks now. I was not expecting to see him there today because some men came to check him out last week and I overheard that they might probably take the man to Port Harcourt for treatment. "We only come here on Tuesdays for CDS so we didn't know if he was still there or not. Unfortunately, nothing has been done to help the dying man. This man cannot walk on his own, some of the toes on his right foot are already cut off and he's smelling seriously. "His condition is so disheartening and it seems everybody is just waiting for the man to die there. I'm not sure he has eaten anything for days now. So I bought malt and biscuits so that he can eat something first but as it is, it seems he doesn't even have the strength to sit up. "This man needs an immediate medical attention lest he dies in no distant time. Kindly retweet and tag the appropriate authorities in charge of taking care of cases like this in Rivers state. "I just returned from the police station now. The DPO said there's nothing the police can do as of now as it is not a crime related issue but rather welfare and according to him, welfare is not the police job." The Ahoada West Local Government Area Of Rivers State Chairman, Hon. (Evang.) Hope O. Ikiriko CNA, has called on the Federal and State Government for support to Flood Victims in the Area. Stressing that the Local Government does not have the capacity to take care of that flood situation, because it involves opening of the water Ways and dredging of the river. According to the information released by Special Adviser To The Executive Chairman Ahoada West, Mr. Madu Dab Madueke, "the last time it happened the Vice President visited us in this Local Government and all the promises that he made none has been achieved. Nothing, no assistance, we're suffering and we're calling on the Federal Government, and the State Government to come to our aid." A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja was on Monday, October 14th ordered the temporary freezing of 45 bank accounts belonging to three companies allegedly involved in smuggling of rice into Nigeria. The companies having accounts with 10 commercial banks in the country are Sun Sam A1 International Limited, Sun Sam International Limited and Sunchrist O. Trans Nigeria Limited. Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the high court directed First Bank of Nigeria, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Union Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Zenith Bank, Sterling Bank, Access Bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Polaris Bank and Eco Bank to freeze all transactions of the firms for 45 days, pending the outcome of the investigation and inquiry being conducted by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Ruling on an ex parte application by CBN's counsel, Nosike Nicholas, to freeze the accounts for 90 days, Mohammed granted only 45 days. He said the order of freezing for 45 days was subject to renewal for further days upon an application by the CBN in the event that its investigation could not be concluded within the first 45 days. According to the CBN, transactions under the accounts could cause significant financial loss to Nigeria's rice industries in particular and its economy in general. Lecturers of the University of Port Harcourt allegedly demand sex for grades from students of the Institution though the information is not yet clear as at the time of this report. From the radio conversation monitored by BelieveSpot on Tuesday 8th October, 2019, the Vice President of the University of Port Harcourt Student's Union Government, Comr Oduh Amarachi Grace told the radio Presenter that sex for grades is not a new thing in the Institution, though, she didn't mention any name but insisted there are rumours of lecturers who demand for sex from the female students to award grades. In her words; "I have heard of some lecturers demanding sex from the students for grades" When asked if she think the students are afraid to come out, she said "Yes, because they think they will be implicated and their image might be damage." The Rivers State Police Command has conform that the men of the Bori Police Station last night, in a coordinated Operation trailed one 35 year-old Linus Lebari, popularly known as ‘BOBBY’ also known as “DEVIL” from Tekon Sogho in Khana Local government Area of the State, to their hideout in a forest at Okwale in the boundary between Rivers and Abia State. According to the Policce, "the hoodlums on noticing irregular movements around their camp, started shooting randomly but in a return fire from the Police, one of them was fatally wounded, who was later identified to be Linus Lebari from Tekon Sogho, the leader of the kidnapping Gang responsible for all the attacks on the Ogoni axis of the East/West Road and whose gang has killed over 30 people in the two Local Government Areas of Khana and Gokana, after collecting ransom." Sadly, two Police Officers sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and are "currently responding to treatment while one locally made pistol and some cartridges were recovered.
