According to reports, a notorious criminal terrorizing Agudama Epie in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, State has been banished after he was beaten and paraded around the community.

The suspect known as "Supreme" was accused of rape, robbery, cultism and other criminal activities.

The banishment was led by the President of (AYM) Comr Prudent Izibeyame and his member.

Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s chief executive, in the series of tweets said political ads, including manipulated videos and the viral spread of misleading information, presented challenges to civic discourse, “all at increasing velocity, sophistication, and overwhelming scale.” He said he worried the ads had “significant ramifications that today’s democratic infrastructure may not be prepared to handle.”

"A political message earns reach when people decide to follow an account or retweet. Paying for reach removes that decision, forcing highly optimized and targeted political messages on people. We believe this decision should not be compromised by money."

"While internet advertising is incredibly powerful and very effective for commercial advertisers, that power brings significant risks to politics, where it can be used to influence votes to affect the lives of millions."

"Internet political ads present entirely new challenges to civic discourse: machine learning-based optimization of messaging and micro-targeting, unchecked misleading information, and deep fakes. All at increasing velocity, sophistication, and overwhelming scale."

The Police Command in Enugu State has confirmed the release of Rev. Fr. Arinze Madu, the Vice-Rector, Queen of Apostles Spiritual Year Seminary, Imezi-Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area who was abducted on Monday, October 28th at about 5:30 PM. at the gate of the seminary by unknown persons.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the priest’s release in Enugu saying: “Yes, he has been released unhurt. However, we are still trailing his abductors. We are also working on something concerning tracking down the perpetrators of this dastardly act.’’

A weird scene played out at a three day church programme organized by Ghanaian preacher Abruku Abruka, as the General Overseer of Anointed Palace Chapel Rev. Obofour made a member of the church he visited, smoke weed in the auditorium.

Rev. Obofour had a brief encounter with the man in church after he asked if anyone in the church had marijuana. After the man identified as 41-year-old Razak came out with one, the Ghanaian Pastor asked him to smoke it to verify his claim.

A gun battle between officers of the Nigerian Army and kidnappers in Rivers State has left three kidnappers dead with many others wounded.

News of their death has elicited celebration among members of the Elele Alimini Community and environs in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State. The operation was carried out between the Nigerian army and the local vigilante.

It was learnt that three other suspects sustained serious bullet wounds during the gun duel between the soldiers in collaboration with local vigilant operating in the community and the hoodlums.

Confirming the incident, the Head of the Local Vigilante in Elele Alimini, John Woke disclosed that the criminals had abducted their victims and took them to their hideout in a nearby forest along Elele Barracks road where their victims were kept and ransom demanded.

Woke said: "Following a tip-off by members of the public, men of the local vigilant subsequently hinted men of the Nigerian Army who quickly led the operation into the criminal hideout to rescue the victims and on citing the Army the kidnappers opened fire which led to the killing of three of the suspects while others fled with gunshots wounds.”

Court Sentences Supervisor To 60 Years Jail Term For Defiling 2 Year Old

A Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Sitting in the Ikeja area has sentenced a 47-year-old school Supervisor, Mr Adegboyega Adenekan to 60 years in prison for defiling a two-year-old and 11-month-old pupil of a school in Lagos.
Justice Sybil Nwaka convicted Adenekan on a one-count charge of defilement of a child sometime in November 2016 at Chrisland School, Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos.
The convict was accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with the 2-year-old pupil.
Justice Nwaka held that the prosecution has proven its case of defilement against the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt, contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The judge said, “The basic elements to consider in this case is that the accused had sex with the child; that there was penetration; that the evidence of the child must be corroborated.
“The victim, in her evidence before the court, she said that Mr. Adenekan put his mouth and his hand in her wee-wee (vagina). She also said that the supervisor put his mouth in the vagina of her best friend, Jenita.
“The little girl said that Adenekan covered her mouth when she attempted to shout. And that he (defendant) defiled her twice inside the school premise; at his office and in the hallway”.
According to the judge, the evidence of the child that the defendant defiled her twice was evidently corroborated by the medical report from Mirabel Center.
“I have no doubt in mind that this defendant, Adenekan is the same person the victim said put his hand in her vagina and therefore, the defendant is hereby convicted accordingly.
” The defendant is hereby sentenced to 60 years imprisonment,” Nwaka ruled.
Meanwhile, The prosecution team led by B.T Boye had called seven witnesses and closed its case on March 14. While the defence team had called five witnesses.

Rivers State Government and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc was on Friday signed an agreement for the construction of three flyover bridges to develop the landscape of Port Harcourt and resolve traffic congestion in the city. BelieveSpot reports.

According to the statement released by the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media Simeon Nwakaudu, the Attorney-General of Rivers State, Dr Zaccheus Adango led officials of the Rivers State Government during the signing process, while the Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Dr Lars Richter led the Julius Berger team.

The length of the Flyover Bridges include: Artillery 1 and 2: 517.5 metres, Rumuokoro 360 metres and Garrison 360 metres.

Speaking after the Agreement Signing Ceremony, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike declared that the Flyover Bridges will be completed within 16months and in line with approved specifications.

He said that the Rivers State Government will pay 70percent of the contract sum to ensure that the contractor execute the three flyover bridges on schedule.

He said: "These three flyover bridges will be completed within 16months as agreed with the contractor. This contract will cost about N21billion.

"We are going to pay 70percent of the contract sum upfront. After payment, we expect Julius Berger to give us the required quality and on schedule ".

Governor Wike said there will be no excuse for variation or extension of the time of project completion.

"There should be no excuse. This contract should be completed within schedule. When the Government pays Julius Berger the 70percent upfront, there will be no variation.

"Everything has been done. What is left is compensation. The money for compensation has been set aside", he said.

Governor Wike said that the simultaneous construction of the three flyover bridges will generate thousands of jobs for Rivers people within the period of construction.

The Governor charged the management of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to ensure that Rivers people are given priority in the employment of construction workers. He said that Rivers people will always benefit from Rivers resources.

Aside the construction of the flyover bridges, Governor Wike said that his Administration has awarded contracts for the reconstruction and expansion of key roads in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.

He said: "Most of the roads have been awarded for construction. We have the New GRA, the Old GRA, Ikwerre Road and other key roads. They will be handled by major contractors.

"Our second term will be like the first term. I appreciate the opportunity that Rivers people gave to me and I will repay them with quality service and projects delivery ".

He called on host communities of the flyover bridges to cooperate with the contractor to ensure speedy delivery of the contract.

"Our people should make sacrifices for us to achieve success. We want to change the landscape of Port Harcourt. The flag off will take place next week Tuesday ", he said.

Governor Wike said that he will continue to place the interest of Rivers State above other considerations.

He said: "The only political party that I belong to is Rivers State. Anything that is against the interest of Rivers State, count me out.

"For this project, I am directly responsible for community relations. I will Liaise with the communities to ensure that nobody stops the development process ".

He stated that the Rivers State Government chose Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to execute the project because of the administration's commitment to quality.

In his part, Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Dr Lars Richter assured that the company will deliver the three flyover bridges within the approved 16months period.

He said: "Julius Berger will deliver the projects in the record time of 16months. Governor Wike, I assure you that Julius Berger will deliver".

He said that Julius Berger will continue to partner with the Rivers State Government to deliver quality projects across the State. He said that Julius Berger has also delivered quality projects under the Wike Administration.

Recall that during his inauguration for a second term, Governor Wike promised Rivers people that he will construct three flyover bridges in Port Harcourt.
