In the 18th century, this is how doctors listened to their patients’ hearts.

It was a method called direct auscultation, which is just a fancy way of saying putting your ear to the patient’s chest and listening.

However, René Laennec, a doctor in Paris, felt ill at ease putting his head directly on the chests of his female patients. So he rolled up a piece of paper and found it amplified the heartbeat quite nicely.

He tinkered with the idea and in 1816 came up with this.

He called his new invention the stethoscope, from the Greek, “to examine the sternum.”

Laennec died ten years later of tuberculous, which his nephew diagnosed using his uncle’s invention.

Today studies have shown that the presence of a stethoscope increases the odds of a doctor being rated trustworthy by patients more than any other medical instrument.

As part of efforts to rid the State of all forms of unwholesome products and ensure that consumers' rights are protected, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) on Thursday sealed Home Affairs Supermarket located at 21, Ijaye Road, Ogba.
Speaking on the enforcement exercise, General Manager of LASCOPA, Mr. Afolabi Solebo Esq., disclosed that the supermarket was sealed for displaying expired products, such as Kelloggs Krave (Chocolate Hazelnut) and Frozen foods, on their shelves for possible sale to unsuspecting consumers.
He noted that despite several public enlightenment campaigns and warnings by LASCOPA, Store managers still sell expired and hazardous products which are inimical to human health in contravention of the State government's directives on the sale of unwholesome goods.
Solebo said, “I, personally, discovered the expired items on the supermarket shelves on the 23rd of February, 2021, while on a routine check of supermarkets in the area. On discovering the expired products, I told the staff to remove the items from the shelves, which they did in my presence, only for the monitoring and enforcement team to go there the following day and discovered that the items have been returned to the promo shelf”.
He noted that the Agency had to seal Home Affairs Supermarket in the interest of the general consumers in the State, adding that LASCOPA would not fail to initiate litigation if retail shops and supermarkets do not stop displaying expired products for sale.
While charging consumers not to hesitate to report any supermarket or shops within the State where expired products are sold, he enjoined residents to submit their complaints free of charge by visiting the office of LASCOPA at 2b, Soji Adepegba Close, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja or send correspondence to the Agency’s e-mail addresses: lascopa@lagosstate.gov. ng and lascopa@gmail.com for necessary action.

In a new video, hugely popular YouTuber Filip Koroy (aka EverythingApple Pro) has teamed up with influential leaker Max Weinbach to reveal multiple upgrades Apple is making with the iPhone 13. That said, one of them will be controversial.

iPhone 13 Pro Design
Weinbach tells Koroy that Apple will “refine” the matte back of the iPhone 13 Pro models with a “more grippy textured back that will be slightly more comfortable [to hold]”. He also understands that it will be akin to the finish on Google’s Pixel series. That said, he warns that the chassis design “will not be changing so overall the same look at the iPhone 12 lineup.”

Moving to the display, Weinbach confirms perhaps the most wanted upgrade to the range is coming to iPhone 13 Pro models: 120Hz ProMotion displays using the same (impressive) LPTO OLED technology which has proven popular with Samsung’s new Galaxy S21 lineup. This has been corroborated by multiple sources, though Weinbach adds new information, stating that Apple will finally bring always-on displays to the range as well with some caveats:

“Always-On Display will have minimal customizability. [The] Current design basically looks like a toned-down lockscreen. Clock and battery charge is always visible. Notifications seem to be displayed using a bar and icons. Upon receiving, the notification will pop up normally except that the screen will not entirely light up. Instead, it will display just like you’re used to right now, except dimmed down and only temporally.”

It is unclear at this stage whether regular (non-Pro) iPhone 13 models will get either of these upgrades.

Three major upgrades here. Koroy reports that Apple will introduce an automatic astrophotography mode when pointing iPhone 13 models at the sky (a popular feature in rival phones), as well as a massive upgrade to the ultra-wide camera lens with Apple giving it “the royal treatment across the entire lineup” with a new sensor and lens.

Perhaps the most exciting upgrade, however, comes with the news that “portrait video is finally happening. Apple has had this feature in the pipeline for quite some time. Now with the Apple A15, it will finally be possible. You will be able to record a portrait video… and then change the depth of field in post.”

As Koroy notes, “that requires some serious serious processing power” but I expect this to be a massively popular feature. If Apple can nail the end result, expect to see portrait mode videos become the hottest new trend on social media.

iPhone 13 MagSafe Concerns
One area which is likely to prove controversial, however, is an upgrade to MagSafe with Weinbach saying the magnets will be “getting stronger”. Koroy paints this as a positive, which is understandable given concerns that MagSafe is not strong enough in iPhone 12 models to securely hold magnetic attachments like wallets. That said, MagSafe is currently embroiled in controversy because the magnets can deactivate pacemakers and defibrillators when held close to the chest.

“We were all stunned,” said Henry Ford Heart and Vascular Institute cardiologist Gurjit Singh on the findings earlier this month. “We had assumed that the magnet[s] would be too weak in a phone to trip the defibrillator’s magnetic switch. We believe our findings have profound implications on a large scale for the people who live daily with these devices, who without thinking, will place their phone in their shirt pocket or upper pocket or their coat – not knowing that it can cause their defibrillator or pacemaker to function in a way that could potentially be lethal.”

How Apple can improve MagSafe without increasing these potentially lethal risks, is unknown at this stage.

This aside, the iPhone 13 lineup is shaping up to be a massive upgrade on its predecessors. In addition to these new leaks, we already know Apple will reduce the notch (even if removing it entirely looks a long way off), introduce next-gen 5G modems with global coverage and reduced battery drain, incorporate a ’disruptive’ new WiFi standard and increase storage while in-display Touch ID is hotly tipped to be added alongside Face ID for more mask-friendly security.

And it doesn’t stop there because we also know Apple is now working hard on iPhones which fold.

Michael Jackson's disgraced physician wasn't saddened by the death of Joe Jackson, calling him one of the worst father's in history.
Joe Jackson, the patriarch and manager of the Jackson family including his late son Michael Jackson, died on June 27, 2018 at a hospice in Las Vegas at the age of 89.

Now the disgraced personal physician of Michael Jackson, Conrad Murray, has spoken out, saying, “Joe Jackson was one of the worst fathers to his children in history.”

In an video clip obtained by The Blast, Murray doesn’t just condemn Joe Jackson for being a horrible dad, he also claims Joe “chemically castrated” Michael Jackson.

“The fact that he was chemically castrated to maintain his high pitched voice is beyond words,” Murray said in the video.
Murray alleged that Michael told him of the many sufferings he endured at the hands of his father, saying, “It was dreadful beyond imagination and words.”

Michael Jackson was pronounced dead at a hospital in Los Angeles in 2009 at age 50. “Acute propofol intoxication” combined with sedatives caused Jackson to go into cardiac arrest.

Murray was Michael Jackson’s doctor at the time. In February 2010, he was charged with involuntary manslaughter for administering the lethal dose of propofol found in Jackson’s system. Propofol is an intravenous anesthetic administered to patients before undergoing certain medical procedures. Murray maintained his innocence but was found guilty in November 2011 and spent two years in prison before being released on parole.

This isn’t the first time Murray has made allegations against Joe Jackson. In 2016 he claimed that Joe had given Michael hormone injections to stop his voice from getting deeper. Murray also said that Michael was so scared of his father that he’d vomit when he saw him.

Having faced repeated claims of abuse and mistreatment toward his children, Joe Jackson was a controversial figure ever since he launched the careers of The Jackson 5.

He also engineered the solo career of Janet Jackson, who spoke out about her late father on July 9, saying, “He was very strong, and without his drive, his strength… we wouldn’t have this success.”

The co-executors of Michael Jackson’s estate released a statement that read in part, “We are deeply saddened by [Joe] Jackson’s passing,” and that “Joe was a strong man who acknowledged his own imperfections and heroically delivered his sons and daughters from the steel mills of Gary, Indiana to worldwide pop superstardom.”

Murray made it clear that he was not deeply saddened, saying he “would not shed a single tear for the passing of this cruel and evil man.” He also stated, “It is said that only the good die young. I hope Joe Jackson finds redemption in hell.”

Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, expressed concern about the security situation in the region, stating that threats of attack on the South-West can fuel further crisis in Ibarapa, Oyo and Ondo and will certainly affect the entire nation.

The Yoruba leader, however, stated that the situation in the two states truly justified the huge security challenges perpetrated by herders, that had on several occasions kidnapped and killed many Yoruba in their various communities, adding that Yoruba are too well aware of the looming crisis in the country. He maintained that he would not be stampeded into falling into a pre-arranged trap by the political elites. The statement read: “The apex organisation in the North and the herders Association should watch their statements or face the wrath of the Yoruba nation. “By their inciting statements, the North is beating war drums. When Heiner’s identity was revealed in 2004, there was a question of whether the descendants would receive royalties from Adolf Hitler’s book Mein Kampf. All of the living heirs claim they want no part of it.

“Yes I know the whole story about Hitler’s inheritance,” Peter told Bild am Sonntag, a German newspaper. “But I don’t want to have anything to do with it. I will not do anything about it. I only want to be left alone.”
The sentiment is one that all five Hitler descendants share.

So, it seems, the last of the Hitler family will soon die out. The youngest of the five is 48 and the oldest is 86. By the next century, there won’t be a living member of the Hitler bloodline left.

Ironic, yet fitting, that the man who made it his life’s goal to create the perfect bloodline by eliminating the bloodline of others will have his own stamped out so intentionally.

I knew right away it's a scam, the website was requesting personal bank details ...
My question is, how do I report or bring such facebook/web page to the notice of the Bank..

They are other sources of law governing the smooth running of a State apart from the 1999 Constitution(CFRN), even though the Constitution is the grundnorm.. i.e the highest. supercede every other laws (According to Section 1. Subsection (1) This Constitution is supreme and its provisions shall have binding force on the authorities and persons throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In furtherance to that, Subsection (3) says-- If any other law is inconsistent with the provisions of this Constitution, this Constitution shall prevail, and that other law shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void.

In relation to Criminal matters in Nigeria, we have the Penal Code for the North and the Criminal Code for other parts of the country, while the Criminal Code was modelled after the English Law (Common Law, Equity, Statutes of General Application. S.O.G.A)
The Penal code is modelled after Sharia Law and Sudanese Penal Code.

However, those aggrieved can still fight for there fundamental human rights under Chapter 4, Section 46 of the CFRN.
The issue for Determination is whether the aggrieved people can fight through.
I rest my case.

I still didn't see any drugs confiscated or NDLEA officials report of arresting anyone in these pictures or story?

My verdict? The state government is illegality clamping down on businesses because of cultural or religious bias, and risks hefty sums in compensation claims as this might be interpreted to mean malicious damage.
