Romance / Re: 11 Serious Facts You Must Know Before You Marry An Igbo Girl by irynterri(f): 8:21pm On May 15, 2017
megareal:
We followed a colleague for an Igbo traditional marriage. Guy did not spend up to 100k, infact all the guys in my coy promised to marry an Igbo girl cause they believed marrying an Ibo girl was cheaper.
May have been the family prerogative sha.
don't mind all these hype online about bride price, in my place bride price is 500 naira whether rich or poor and I even heard some communities take 50naira,the list is where the money is even at that my village list (which is uniform for all households whether rich or poor)is about 100k (buhari era price),if you need to break the bank to marry an igbo girl, then how could it be possible that there are low income men e.g okada men married to igbo women?although places like owerri and afikpo have pricey list but if you tell the parents of your financial capability it will be reduced on your behalf but even the highest list no reach 600k

Most of these pentescostal churches don't even care about their members welfare. They won't even preach charity.....only long talks on the benefits of given to church. They are all about tithes and partnership

one of the reasons why I decided to write this, most churches today preach more about conquering the earth whereas in reality Jesus came that we can have have a share in paradise not earth,we do not belong to this world but that which is yet to come, thanks for your contribution

Religion / How to Give your Gifts to God as recommended by Jesus Christ by irynterri(f): 7:23am On May 14, 2017
Matt 25:31-46: And when the Son of man shall come in his majesty, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty.

32 And all nations shall be gathered together before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats:

33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left.

34Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

35For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in:

36Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me.

37Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee?

39Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee?

40And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.

41Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels.

42For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink.

43I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you covered me not: sick and in prison, and you did not visit me.

44Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee?

45Then he shall answer them, saying: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me.

46And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting. A day shall come when both me writing this and you reading this shall fulfil this prophecy, the question is will you want to fulfil the goat or the sheep

So many Christians today spend hours worshipping God and keeping his commands without backing it up with action, as Christians our primary duty is worshipping God in truth and in spirit, keeping his commandments, spreading the good news of our salvation and helping the needy

QUES:HOW IMPORTANT IS CHARITY?
ANS: Luke 16:19-31,Jesus gave the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, clearly the sin of the rich man was he neglected the poor man at his gate, Matthew 19:21,Jesus told the man who seeked eternal life to sell his properties and give to the poor in order to inherit the kingdom of God.

QUES:THE ROLE OF THE CHURCH IN CHARITY
ANS:Acts 2:45,says that the early Christians sold all they had and distributed it amongst themselves such that no one is in need.quite unfortunately that scenario does not happen in our world today, but it is necessary that every church should have an association or society that takes care of the needy as well as raise capitals for members to start a business venture with.i know of a TREM parish that gives food to the poor every afternoon, most Catholic churches have societies that address the needs of the poor,if u dont have one where you worship, try to introduce it,if not possible join another help the needy team, eternal life is an individual race.Whenever you are financially low as a Christian,it is your basic duty to approach your pastor/priest for financial aid as done by the early Christians.

QUES:WHAT KIND OF CHARITY IS ACCEPTABLE TO GOD
ANS: Matthew 6:2-5:
“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

QUES:WHAT IF I AM NOT RICH?
ANS:you do not have to be Bill Gates to practise charity. Charity is to share from the little you have. If you come back to school with two packets of biscuit you could give one off to a poor student or person you know, you can share your food with a poor person who yet to eat, as a conductor, you could give a free seat to that poor widow who begs for a ride home, if you sell clothes, you could keep some back especially coats to share for the homeless during Harmattan and cold weather etc.

QUES:IS TITHE THE SAME AS CHARITY?
ANS:tithe is a spiritual work to support the church and gospel,it comes with his own Grace while charity in this context entails giving to those who have no chances to give back to you.

QUES:who do I give to?
ANS:from the closest to you who is in need,in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man this was the sin of the rich man, to those far from you irrespective of their tribe, race, sex and religion.

In summary James 1:27 says the Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.Choose today if you want to be the goat or sheep, other scriptures: James 2:1-26.

Mr Lover of White Colonialists

Back then, 98% of Nigerians, including your grand or great grandparents, were stark illiterates, courtesy of the colonialist's total neglect of education. Cars were only for the super rich. People walked around barefoot. Malnutrition was rife. Our founding fathers had a good reason for fighting the colonialists.

The British exported all those groundnut pyramids but you never ask what they did with all the money, such that your country was an underdeveloped bush by 1960, after 90 years of uninterrupted white rule and export of your resources, including cocoa, tin, rubber, iron ore, palm oil, coal etc, which fetched huge sums in those days.

So instead of glorifying your own subjugation, and automatically equating white colonial faces with 'the good times', you should rather, employ your grey matter, and ask yourself pertinent questions about that era.
the only difference between then and now is that the colonialists and no longer white but black Nigerian politicians, at times i wish the whites stayed long enough to develop our power sector since generating constant electricity is rocket science to the "black colonialists"we call politicians

I think we should learn to read to understand ..it seems most responses are just on how to love your self ,black is beautiful etc.... On how dark skinned pple are lazy ..
My dear, this post is to point out a simple fact which is a reality face it or not and I think we all know that .

Am dark skinned ,intelligent and very confident but am still gonna state what is applicable

Now you brought up an attack that dark skinned ladies are careless on skin care right, okay care to share with them on how to take care of their skin since u claim to know it ? This is not an attack am simply asking that u give tips that's all

I forgot to add that the skin care talk you are reffering to majors basically on skin bleaching ,products to assist ,reviews etc any one can check to confirm .I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER FOR YEARS
SCT is a forum just like nairaland,so many sections on skin problem treatment such as lightening, melasma, acne etc,i got to know the forum when I had hyper pigmentation on my neck, now its gone, pick the info u want but if not for that forum I won't have known how to take care of my skin in a tropic country like nigeria, I never said all dark girls don't Take care of their skin I said most, how many dark girls do u know who practice exfoliation and skin protection?,I have also met natural light skinned girls who don't take care of their skin and believe me when I say their skin does not glow at all,I really do wish i had the time to start up threads or a blog concerning dark skin treatment and how to use natural products like the ones used up north to pamper your skin, maybe I will hire a 'typist' grin pleaseeeeee, girls take care of your skin, stop thinking bleaching is the way out and when I think of it the only time some dark ladies take of their skin is while bleaching,I'm dark skinned, pretty, slim with a flat tummy, to God's glory and I have had always men frolicking around me, many of whom tell me they have never been attracted to dark girls,be open minded darl, flip your hair, wear clothes that compliment your skin, learn to do your make-up to compliment your style, live and love life we are not staying for 100 more years, the sky is enough for all birds to fly, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, some will like dark, light, short, fat, thin, you can't change someone's preference, can't believe I just typed all this

whether light or dark what matters is how you take care of your skin, most light skinned girls don't play with their skin, they invest in it that is why it looks pretty, unlike dark girls that will put on heavy lotions and walk around the sun with no Sun block, many of them do not exfoliate talk more or less use nice products and they will start blaming the society, I was once dirty black but now I take good care of my skin and people now ask me if I am Ethiopian or black American grin ,the attention has increased tremendously, dark girls should please stop been lazy and take care of their skin, if you know how dedicated fair girls are to their skin care you won't believe it,watch YouTube videos, visit nice skin blogs like skincaretalk

Exactly the mind set the post is meant to change.
It is a misplacement of priority to go after Judas for doing a job assigned to him.
You and I could have done it anyways if it were to be our days.

Looking at the big picture, looking at Judas, the sin he committed served a greater good.
A purpose was behind it, salvation for mankind.
But this generation, what do we do, sometimes we commit sin for absolutely no reason.

Jumia delivery man killed for phone, how about that?
Matt 26:24: Jesus said,
For the Son of Man must die, as the Scriptures declared long ago. But how terrible it will be for the one who betrays him. It would be far better for that man if he had never been born!"..if the article writer reads his bible well,he will notice that the role was assigned for the weakest spiritually amongst the twelve. God forgave those who came back to him, this one committed suicide

I'm glad you took out time to elaborate on this for people like me to know better.
Sorry, but in church today my Pst said nothing like easter celebration that it is called "resurrection day" that there was a feast already called easter on that same day...do you know anything about that pls? You know since it was not Sunday school i can't be asking all these questions lols
Easter is an English word derived from the German word oster which in turn is modified from the German name auferstehen meaning resurrection, well the English brought the gospel to us,so we use the term Easter,in those days when Latin and Hebrew were used it was called paschal(something like that) from the original Hebrew word pesach which what is written in as Passover in our English bible. as you know the bible was not originally written in English, infact it was translated into many languages before English, even the name Jesus is not the original name of our saviour it was more like IHEOS,so your pastor is right in calling it resurrection day, I always advocate for Christians to know their root and how this religion really began, most of this things I'm telling you even my pastor might not know them, but I believe without knowing the history of christainity and how it evolved you will easily be deceived by atheists, read good history books and above all pray for wisdom, personally I stay away from Jehovah witnesses versions because I have found most of their histories to be false

Wow !!! I saw "May" and it is obvious no specific day for it.... How is the date known or who fix it? and why not same day like Christmas? Do people celebrate western too? For me all the dates are in assumption and if so, which date was the real "Good Friday"? I once asked my CRS teacher same questions and I was sent out of the class for asking confusing questions according the him...
lol, actually the council of Nicea in the year 323 came together to choose a particular period of time to celebrate the resurrection of Christ because different factions of the church celebrated it on different days, their decision was that Easter will be the Sunday following the Jewish Passover day, according to the bible, Jesus celebrated the Passover on Thursday where he instituted the Holy communion, after the feast he was betrayed by Judas,on Friday he was crucified (Jewish day of preparation) and Sunday he arose(after 3 days),in those days there were no calendars as we have now, so days and even hours of the days were determined by the sun and moon by every one in the world, it was with this they calculated every feast including the Passover, some will argue that Easter was pagan because it was calculated with the sun and moon and I will tell them that even the calender we use was calculated with the sun, moon and equinox, even geography will tell u that there are 24 hours in a day because it takes 24 hours for the earth to rotate round the sun, the same goes for the calculation of leap year etc.
