candidtalk:
Nigerians sha. When you work for a company and are still drawing salary there, do you begin openly criticising the company?

No. You must use diplomacy to remain complimentary about the company especially if planning to succeed the MD.

We can be mischievous all day long, because of ethnic or sectional affiliation, but every Nigerian, honest to himself, know Tinubu is totally different to Buhari.

Even those who may vote clannishly, like Fulani herdsmen, will be far better off under Tinubu than their own kinsmen they feel obligated to support electorally.

This is the tragedy of Nigeria where sentiments, tribalism, ignorance, illiteracy and inability to focus on what matters prevents many Nigerian from noting what matters to see who/what is best for them.

Take our Nigerian Fulani herdsmen for example and not the killers from Niger Republic, Chad, Mali, Sudan etal.

They may clannishly opt for Atiku or Kwankwaso who would never improve their lot but Tinubu , with his stated plans for modern ranching, would turn them into educated, deliberate, modern, scientific and rich livestock farmers.

While Tinubu plans what is seen below for nomadic Fulani cattle rearers, as a solutions to herdsmen v farmer/community dispute, Buhari is busy sabre-rsttling with the insistence "no going back on grazing routes" and the continuation of obsolete and retrogressive practices.

The two leaders are a million miles apart and we should not play mischief with that reality if truly a progressive people.

We know one , i.e Tinubu, actually has better plans for Fulani herdsmen even if he is not Fulani. The challenge in Nigeria is to show Fulanis how to discern this so they can do themselves and their future a favour.

We should rise above sentiments and pettiness to all make choices best for us and the future of generations unborn.

https://www.icirnigeria.org/ranching-concerns-of-obsolete-open-grazing-practice-key-examples-that-offer-solutions/

fulani herdsmen don't need ranching, they have tasted the blood money that comes from kidnapping and they have no plans of looking back, even if you build 1000 ranches , mark my words, those ranches will be converted to kidnapping dens. Do you know how long it takes to grow a cow before you sell at 200k? But you can kidnap 50 students and within 3months the government will give you 100million naira. The only option is military action.

Most Northern states are APC's Stronghold. Whether you believe it or not, Tinubu will have a good share of Northern states, Atiku gaining a good ground is actually good news to Obi, because that means neither Tinubu nor Atiku is not sure of bloc votes. The votes will be shared into 3 or 4 places (if you include Kwankwanso).

Zamfara?
Sokoto
Kano
Jigawa
Kastina

Kwankwanso is popular in Kano.. and have presence in jigawa

Outside this two state .. nobody sen Kwankwanso.. he’s a media creation like Obi.

Being an option in the north is majorly because of Atiku liberal nature as a Muslim

Kwankwanso can’t provide the much needed security.. the north need.

You need money and will to fight Fulani bandits in Northwest and kanuri boko in Northeast

I’m a farmer .. have not planted for 3 straight years.. Lot is going on and the Apc Yoruba media the hide am.

Kwankwanso is not an option.. Tinubu is never an option since 2011.

The funny ones are the obi noise makers .. that sit in their south and be dishing rubbish and assumptions

Atleast, all the governors and deputies, senators and ministers in the SE are Igbos, how many governors in the north are Hausa aside from Tambuwal, talkless ministers, saying Hausa Fulani is just like saying Igbo Yoruba, because they do intermarry too. After 8yrs of a Fulani man's rule, PDP is fielding another Fulani, APC vp's ticket has gone to a Kanuri man, even the Labour's party V.P's ticket had gone to a Fulani man. Where exactly are Hausa's who are actually the most populated in the scheme of things? All the same I wish them peace, there is no gain in bloodshed.

Buhari won all the 5 states and won The 2019 elections. The whole idea of me making the statement is to tell you the voting power of the north is stronger than you think.

Buhari had a fanatical following in the north, children voted and even foreigners from Mali and Niger, to make up that "voting power" . Buhari had more than 1million votes higher than his opponent. This time around, there's no one with such a fanatical following up north, two contestants are from the north , apc is the ruling party in those states, the governors will deliver a good chunck of votes for apc, many Christians up north (I don't know why people underestimate their population). All am saying is the votes in those states will be shared. The wide margin Buhari gave won't be there next year. The south and north central maybe the deciding factor.

Go and check history.
Anybody that wins Kano, Kaduna, Kastina, kebbi and Lagos has never lost the elections.
Therefore the north voting power of x2 is well justified. It is not anybody's fault. It is how the Nigerian politcal system is been structured.

The 42% for obi is highly justified, he can't win the SE OR SS, talkless of a land slide because of the disunity among the igbos and the political apathy that will occur during that day). And from your analysis of 2019 elections, it not possible for someone to go from 80-90% to just 10-20%. Its very rare. And when giving obi and Atiku their %, I factored their political apathy of the SE & SS. The reason why obi might not win the elections is because the south east will not come out en mass to vote for obi.

Lastly the NC(middle belt) will go where the SE and SS will go. Hence we won't see a different result from the north central.
I know this analysis is very annoying, but this analysis is a reflection of the perception of Nigeria and not the predictions that might occur.
Although we do agree on one thing. Tinubu won't the elections, hence your analysis is quite accurate. Kudos
Buhari won the election in those places you mentioned with a very high margin and he still lost twice. You can Google the results of 2003, 2007 and 2011 elections.

Obiano tried his best, but many people will call it below par because of the standard Ngige and Peter Obi had set. It is an error to mention Obiano where you have Peter Obi and Ngige. If Obiano had been a governor in Imo or Abia, he would have been marked above average because leadership in those states are a mess, but not so in Anarmbra. Is it true doctors were on strike for more than a year under Peter Obi?
yes, it is true, I think 13months. Obi built ultra-modern hospitals back then and upgraded some of the hospitals to teaching hospitals. The strike had to do with salaries, He wasn't owing them, he was even paying them during the strike. I can't remember be full details but it had something to do with the FG's recommendation for doctors' salaries and Obi said he couldn't pay 100% the FG amount, I think they later settled for a percentage.

Programming / Re: The Decision Point To Switch Career To Tech And The Second Thought by irynterri(f): 4:49am On Jul 08, 2022
learning22:
About two months ago, the curiosity in me to switch careers from what I studied in the University to Tech was awoken after searching for a job for over five years of graduation with nothing tangible to show for it apart from all these demeaning jobs around in Nigeria.

I wouldn't say I know nothing about programming because I borrowed some programming courses in the University back then from the Computer Science department, where python, which is one of the languages being talked about now happens to be one of them. But the truth of the matter is that I only read those courses to pass, and not to understand, let alone apply it to any real life situation.

That's to inform my readers that at least I am not ignorant to programming languages. Note: I said programming languages and not programming.

Maybe I should conclude that the programming courses I did then exposed my knowledge to something called programming languages.

By counting, this year will make it 10 years of doing those programming courses and I have practically forgotten everything I did then.

The only thing I can remember now is that there is something called programming languages which are used in the world of technology to solve problems. But when it comes to how to use it to solve the problem, I really don't have any idea.

Fast forward to the two months I mentioned at the early part of my write-up. After reading threads here on nairaland I could practically tell you that I have finished even threads having more than 125 pages on the programming section.

This has given me a little eye opener on programming and its application and many latest programming languages and the opportunity in it if chosen as a career path.

That being said, I have made the determination to switch from what I read to have a career in tech and to take it full time.

My concern now is that I don't really trust myself in self learning, that is to say I am not sure I will be effective at self learning as so many people here did successfully, as I wouldn't want the boredom of taking too much time to get things right be a discouragement. This is due to our individual difference when it comes to learning. But I am very sure that I can perform brilliantly if I will be training in any training institute.

The challenge now is that I have read about some nairalanders here condemning those training institutes with the claims that they don't train effectively saying they are just after the trainees money.

This is giving me a huge concern, because I have research on some training institutes online with most of them located in Lagos.

Some of them are Decagon and Univercity which are the ones I may finally opt for after seeking advice from you guys at the same time looking at some things from my side too in order to make the final decision.

One of the institutes I mentioned above charges 1m while the other charges close to 3.3m.

The money may not be the problem, but the problem lies in the value of service they render if it is worth paying those amounts for.

Decagon promises to get students jobs on graduation, I wouldn't know how true this is, part of what makes me to create this thread.

In the course of researching, I came across ALX Africa, I applied and the application was successfully, class to begin online by next month.

They also said they help their graduates secure jobs on graduation.
But my challenges are the following

Power/Electricity: No explanation on this for fellow Nigerians

Time: As one has to be able to make 70 hours per week for the classes according to them. Implying that one will have to be online at least 10hours per day for 12 months for classes which I'm not seeing as 90% practicable here in this part of the world.

Ability to self train.

So, please should I forgo the institutes for the ALX Africa which is starting by next month and try to make everything work or I should prioritize the institutes.

Decagon promises to accommodate students, feed students, give students training materials, laptops inclusive and help to secure a job after graduation.

Please elder in this house kindly give your lucid advice

Cc: tensazangetsu20 TheManOfTheYear Ayinke93

Go for decagon, Alx is 70% self study and 30% peer study. Alx will only give you materials, they don't really teach.

My friend I am on unlimited fiber internet @ 25mbps, I don’t use recharge card to pay for data at N100 per mb unlike your type.

You tell me did Peter Obi answer the questions he was asked directly? He didn’t.

Are you going to introduce state police, are you going to restructure what happened to the LG funds. Watch again, He did not give a direct answer to all 3 questions!!!!!!

There's no one on earth that can answer all questions with yes or no, some questions ought to be left unanswered till you find yourself in that scenario, then you use the best option.

about the LG funds - I am from Imo but my village share boundaries with Anarmbra, LG was just a way to steal gov funds on a normal basis. Obi didn't conduct LG elections, rather he formed some sort of committee because he believed it was a waste of revenue. if your village doesn't have a tarred road or transformer, you go there and report, they will confirm you need a road, contractors will bid ,the LG funds will then be used to build the roads that was how almost all the villages in Anarmbra got good roads and transformers till this day. And he never owed any contractor, all were fully paid. Back then, we used to go through Anarmbra to my village because the roads were tarred with LG funds, once you feel any gallop, know you have entered Imo, that was why He laughed and said it was his enemies that took him to court that raided the issue, because his LG committee performed far higher than any LG chairman till this day.

Why he didn't answer others, maybe time, maybe to avoid promise and failing, there are some decisions you can't take till you find yourself in the seat of power. It is always easy to say I will do this or that. Maybe that's why he avoided those questions.

About State police - he said State government should take charge of the security in his state. What does that mean? If the Nigerian police is good, you use them. If not, you try to change their commissioner, if all attempts don't work and you believe a state one is better you use it. That's why such questions can't be yes or no, they are based on circumstances.
Mind you, every Governor in Nigeria earns millions monthly for security votes, while are you earning so much security votes and you can't bring out a solution to secure your people.

Same as restructuring, if Nigeria is working, why do you need to restructure, if Nigeria is not working but restructuring will be better, then you restructure. These are circumstantial questions. You can't give a definite yes or no.

But where will the money to fund them come from? The current officers are poorly paid despite being too few in number.
if you cut down the corruption going on in the government by just 75%, you will see more than enough to pay even 2million police officers. Nigeria is an oil and gas producing nation, our mates are Qatar, Saudi, Russia etc the fact we are learning from Morocco shows how high the mighty has fallen.
