Breaking: Kaduna Vasity students protests, prays against El-Rufai over hike in school fees

June 1, 2021

Students of Kaduna State University on Tuesday took to streetsbin protest against hike in scho fess by State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

The protesting students in their thousands have condemned the State governor for his high handedness and paying dear ears to their cries.

Our correspondent in Kaduna monitoring the protest reports that it wasna peaceful march,.while asking the governor to make education free.

The protesting students are chanting “education must be free”, with some claiming that Nasir El-Rufai got free education at his young age.

They also gathered on the road to Ibrahim Kashim House, seat of the State Government and have decided to conduct an emergency prayers asking ‘Allah’ to touch the heart of El-Rufai to change his mind and bring down the cost of education.

They could be seen conducting Islamic prayers on the road.

Students were seen shouting ‘Allah Ak bir’ meaning God is great which they believed he could touch the heart of El-Rufai.

Tiesday’s protest against El-Rufai was massive as students came out in their numbers, while some who spoke with our correspomdents complained that they are children of the poor, hence, they can’t afford the hike the State government is making them to pay.

Governor El-Rufai had through State Ministry of Education approved over 200% increase in school fees, a development that didn’t go down well with students.

PoliticsKaduna:pdp Rejects SIECOM'S Postponement Of June 5th LG Elections... by isahrabson(op): 9:08pm On May 28, 2021
PRESS STATEMENT

28/5/2021

The PDP rejects SIECOM'S postponement of June 5th LG elections...

The People's Democratic Party(PDP) Kaduna State Chapter, rejects the postponement of the 5th June,2021 Local Government elections by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, KADSIECOM, today.

It is our firm belief that the SIECOM is not acting independently , and if it is so SIECOM should know that they have an image and reputation to guard and protect.

The tenure of the present serving Local Government Councils will elapse by June,2021, it is arbitrary to appoint Interim Management Committees to manage the affairs of the Local Government at the end of their tenure.

Therefore, SIECOM is going to deny the people of Kaduna State their constitutional right of electing their representatives at the Local Government level.

The KADSIECOM seemed to have connived with the Nasir Elrufai APC led government to sabotaged the forthcoming Local Government elections process by the postponement, because they have realised that if elections were to be conducted the APC would loose woefully across the State, due to the bad policies of the Elrufai's APC led government in the State.

The party wondered why the Commission would set a date for an election only for them to later postponed the elections knowing, fully well they were never prepared in the first place to conduct the elections, claiming that batteries and other accessories of the Electronic Voting Machines,EVM, were yet to be delivered from China and would be delivered on 27th July,2021.

SIECOM should have known that there is a timeline for delivery of such sensitive materials before fixing election date in the first place.

If the SIECOM had any plans of conducting the elections in the first place, these accessories and other sundry matters should have been sorted out long before fixing the deceptive date for the elections just to hoodwinked the electorates and political parties into believing elections were going to be conducted.

The PDP is ever ready to participate in the Local Government elections any day the Electoral Commission decides to conduct the Local Government elections in Kaduna State.

The PDP calls on the SIECOM to, as a matter of duty, fairness and credible elections, play by the rules of engagement of the Electoral process, so as to give credence to its "Independent" status.

Finally, we call on our teeming party members and supporters to remain calm, we belief that the rainy Day has just being postponed, but it will surely come.

Kaduna council polls: PDP flags off campaign

May 23, 2021

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has flagged off its campaign ahead of the forthcoming local government election slated for June 5.

The party also presented flags to its candidates in the 23 local governments in the state.

The party was expected to hold a rally at the Kaduna International Trade Fair ground, but it was cancelled over the death of the Chief of Air Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and others in a plane crash on Friday.

However, presenting the flags in Kaduna over the weekend, the State Chairman of the Party, Hon Felix Hayat, directed the flag-bearers and other members of the party to engage in a vigorous house-to-house campaign for the victory of the party in all the 23 local government areas.

“We need to unify the party in order to save the state and the country at large.

“So, I am tasking every member of the party to go to their polling units to engage and educate the populace on the importance to come out and vote.

“Every state official will be given an area of coverage so that we can monitor who is doing the work and who is not because we do not want anybody to take credit for what others are doing.”

He then conveyed the condolence of the party on the demise of the COAS, saying: “We are greatly saddened by this tragedy, coming at a time when all hands are needed to be on deck in dealing with the issues of insurgency, banditry and other security challenges facing the country in general and Kaduna State in particular.

“The PDP in Kaduna State condoles with Mr President, the Kaduna State Government, the Military high command, his immediate family, colleagues and well-wishers over this irreparable loss,” he stated.

One of the recipients of the party’s flags from Zaria, Dr Ibrahim Yushau, said victory is assured, adding that “there are people with ideas and people that will carry everyone along in the party.”

He urged party members to be committed in order to ensure the mandate of the party is achieved, adding that: “We are ready to take all measures to ensure that what happened in 2018 does not repeat itself.”

PoliticsPDP Berates APC For Instigating Moves To Slash Workers’ Salaries by isahrabson(op): 5:23pm On May 09, 2021
May 9, 2021
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns in its entirely, the moves by the Buhari-led administration to slash the salaries of workers in the country.

The PDP alerts that intelligence at its disposal indicates that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) recommended the widely condemned move to slash workers’ meagre salaries despite the current excruciating economic hardship which the APC administration had plunged our nation in the last six years.

The PDP describes as wicked and completely unacceptable that APC leaders could go after workers’ salaries even after their party, the APC, had endorsed the increase in the cost of fuel, electricity and other tariffs, leading to the steeply rise in the cost of food and other essential commodities beyond the reach of millions of Nigerians.
Our party rejects the baseless argument that the move to cut salaries is necessitated by dwindling revenue to finance the national budget.

Rather than impose more hardship on our workers, the APC and its administration should realign the budget by removing their padded figures as well as end the exposed looting in the integrated payment system, where trillion of naira are being siphoned through non-existent workers and overheads.

Moreover, the APC and its administration should return the over N15 trillion stolen by APC leaders from various agencies of government and channel same to governance.

It is distasteful that the APC and the Buhari administration are contemplating a salary cut in a country with a paltry N30,000 monthly minimum wage, an amount that can barely run a small family for less than a week in the face of escalated cost of staple food and essential commodities.

The PDP also finds it appalling that at a time leaders of other countries are seeking ways to provide economic stimulus and incentives for their citizens, the APC and the Buhari Presidency are rather seeking to cut salaries in a country with frightening 33.3 percent unemployment rate; where over 60 million citizens have lost their jobs with over 40 million businesses closed within six years of the APC administration.

Our party cautions that APC and its administration against the proposed salary cut as it will trigger an immediate negative spiral effect, particularly with the escalated cases of terrorism and other social vices, confronting our nation.

It is distressing that in the last six years and particularly in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the APC and Buhari Presidency have failed to take any decisive steps to stimulate to economy and promote production.

Instead, the APC and its administration had engaged in mindless external borrowings, bulk of which had also been looted by APC leader and their cronies in government. Now that they have borrowed from every corner of the world, the APC and its administration are now turning to salaries of our workers.

Our party counsels the Buhari administration to leave workers salary alone and seek help by getting more capable hands to manage our economy and create wealth instead of plunging Nigerians into more hardship.

THE WORSENING INSECURITY...IS THE MINISTER OF FINANCE PART OF FIFTH COLUMNIST THEORY..?

May 6th,2021
Femi Daniels
Abuja.

It would never escape the memories of many Nigerians that President Buhari surfaced at a time when the country was on the verge of collapse..Terrorists had occupied swathes of lands in the Northeast, and violence had spilled to other parts of the country..In Borno State, only few local governments, which was within the confined of Maiduguri metropolitan were under the military..In Yobe State, the terrorists controlled majority of the towns, and always sack the capital,Damaturu at will..Most of the local governments in Northern Adamawa State came under the rule of BH Caliphate, and the fighters were almost on the fringes of Yola City, the capital..Kano and Kaduna in the Northwest had all tested bombings and shootings..The capital,Abuja was not spared of attacks by the terrorists..Thousands of people lost their lives;and millions of them were displaced from their homes.Such was the state of the nation when Muhammadu Buhari emerged as the President in 2015..There was uncommon goodwill and hope from Nigerians as to the reversibility of the insecurity plaguing the country within a possible short time..His integrity and military prowess as war veteran has added an unprecedented impetus to general feelings of excitements and hope..True to their prophecies, the gains previously recorded by the terrorists were gradually eaten away by a resurging military..There was urgency and determination such that most of the territories under the control of the terrorists were regained..BH was on the brink of annihilation. But like most terrorist organizations, they withdrew in to the hinterland and wage a guerrilla warfare on a military that was mostly conventional..Therefore the task of finishing-off the war became arduous and complicated..But then an unexpected happened..Bandits resurfaced in the Northwest to compound the existing problems..Most of the abandoned game reserves were occupied by the criminals.Kidnapping for ransom became more pronounced..The combination of BH terrorism, kidnapping, and separatist violence in the South has complicated the insecurity plaguing the country..Meeting after meeting;redeployment after redeployment;approach after approach..The insecurity persists..But the President continue to increase budget allocations to the defence in tenfold margin..His unwavering patriotism and trust made him develop confidence in all the people he is working with..But it seems there are loopholes within decision-making fabric of the security..Some stakeholders have alleged that even though the President dispenses all the resources needed by security personnel in securing the nation.Only meagre of such amount actually get to the hands of the security apparatus..Anonymous sources hinted that the Ministry of Finance constitutes a clog in the wheel in stemming the worsening insecurity..Could it be a policy or a sabotage..?
The former Service-chiefs have had to content with the overbearing influence of the Minister of Finance..While the President and the Service-Chiefs bear the brunt of angry Nigerians over the worsening insecurity..The Minister is playing the destruction card by withholding funds mean to prosecute the war the against terrorist and bandits..As usual Nigerians have little clue as to the happenings behind the scene..Even security personnel only knows the President and their superiors..The bulks stop on their desk, and so incentives and equipments rest on their shoulders..Is it a deliberate policy to starve the security personnel..?..Or a sabotage by a fifth columnist..The latter not been far from the truth..The country is in a war state, and any attempt to crush the resources mean to prosecute the war by any organ of government is a sabotage..Sabotage come in many folds..The diffusion of war tactics to the enemy is a sabotage..And so too is any hinderance to the prosecution of the war,and this includes denying the crucial resources needed to fight the insecurities..
There seem to be also political colouration as to the behavioral pattern of the Minister of Finance in stifling the resources needed by the security personnel..The local adage says"The ape resembles a man"..Only few people knows the minister as a card-carrying member of the opposition party..And perhaps we carelessly divorced this narrative at our own peril..This cannot be further from the truth..The President ascend the throne against the backdrop of general disenchantments of the party that ruled for 16 years..Part of the voyage team of the President are elements of the former ruling party, some of whom have succeeded in hijacking the affairs of the government..It is not hidden that some crumps are obviously moles, and it is foolhardy to dismiss the involvement of the Minister of finance..If the minister who is holding the most crucial portfolio is withholding funds that affects security of the country, then she is sabotaging not only the ruling party but also the trust of the President..The result is that Nigerians are killed on daily basis..
We are also taken aback as to the growing dissatisfaction on the former service chiefs which led to their leaving the scene..Nigerians blamed them for the failure to tackle the insecurity..Pressures from all quarters led to their ouster..But then, several weeks after the breath of fresh air,the security situation is at its worse state..Most Nigerians are quick to blame the President in all the failings. But the President in his usual guardianship have never rejected any proposal on how to end the insecurity plaguing the country..He is been supportive and is always going through minutes of security reports...But no matter the effort,it would never come to fruition unless all tentacles needed for any objective to succeed is holistically adhered to,and this includes the significant support of the Minister of Finance..
For the President to translate his patriotism and doggedness in to the improving the problem of insecurity..The fifth columnist must be eradicated..The Minister of Finance must be weeded to stem the sabotage in releasing funds to fight the worsening insecurity. Therefore I'm calling on Mr. President to sack Minister of Finance with immediate effect and change Her with a competent who put Nigeria first before any personal and selfish interest.

Kaduna Tertiary Institutions Fees Hike: Rt. Hon. Isa Ashiru Kudan calls for immediate reversal.

May 3,2021

... A complete denial of the people’s right to education.

The unbelievably high increase of tuition fees for the students of the Kaduna State University (KASU) and other tertiary institutions owned by the Kaduna State Government in total disregard of the loud public outcry against the decision is one of the boldest proofs of the insensitivity of Governor Nasiru Ahmed el-Rufa'i Administration to the interests and welfare of the people. By the hike of the fees for KASU students from less than 50,000 naira to not less than 150,000 naira per student and from less than less than 40,000 naira to not less than 75,000 naira for every student of any of the other tertiary institutions as announced by the Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Usman Mohammed, the Kaduna State Government has only added to the high number of its anti-people policies.

In fact, the increase of the fees at this time when the parents and guardians of the students of those institutions are experiencing severe financial constraints as a result of the introduction of harsh measures by the Administration in the State, clearly indicates a complete disregard for the basic needs of the people. The State Government must have known that a great majority of the parents will definitely not be able to bear the cost which therefore means that their children will be denied access to higher education.

Already, the KASU branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has revealed that up to about 75 percent of the students of the institution must have to withdraw from the institution because their parents can not continue to sponsor them. The Union's further revelation that even before the announcement of the outrageous increase, a lot of the students had to literally resort to begging or indulge in some immoral acts before they could pay the fees, re-enforces the fear that the hope of millions of youths in Kaduna State for a better future has been crudely dashed.

Having fully realized the grave danger that the increase of the tuition fees portends for the students and, by extension, the people of Kaduna State and other Nigerians, I wish to strongly call for its immediate reversal as demanded by a lot of well-meaning individuals and groups within and outside the State. As I already stated, the hike is a complete denial of the people’s right to education as guaranteed by democracy and should therefore be withdrawn in order to avoid the unpleasant consequences that it may cause the entire society.

The principle of over-commercialization of education and other critical social services to which the el-Rufa’i Administration openly subscribes is inherently inimical to the pressing need for peace, security and genuine development in our dear Kaduna State. This provides the basis for me to express my total disapproval of the continuous attempt by the current leadership in the State to make profit-making the sole purpose for which a democratic government exists
In the particular case of KASU, it is important to remind the current Kaduna State Government and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that the institution was established in 2004 during the tenure of former Governor Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the purpose of providing the people of the State with the ample opportunity to acquire university education at an affordable cost. It has already been established that the achievements recorded by the university in terms of its quality graduates, research findings and delivery of community services are a strong justification for its establishment 17 years ago.

It is on the basis of this fact that I am making the call for the reversal of the increase of the tuition fees so that all the qualified young men and women of Kaduna State and other Nigerians can continue to benefit from the numerous academic programmes of the university and the other tertiary institutions of the State Government. Rather than increase the fees, the students should be provided with all the necessary support to enable them pursue their academic career without hindrance.

May 3, 2021

A right Concerned Kaduna state citizen,Isa Rabiu has called on governor elrufai and his deputy to resign.

Isa anchored its claim on the failure of the economy and rate of killings in the state.

Base on leadership qualities, the governor lack such things, because Kaduna people are not cows to be slaughtering everyday as a result of insecurity. If the governor and his deputy cannot handle security situation, I think the right thing for them is to step aside.

The governor has failed to protect basic human rights of Kaduna among other things, hence should vacate his office With the deputy.

“I am calling on governor elrufai and his deputy to resign now with immediate effect.

“Enough is Enough of this mess up as a leader if you can't protect your state as a result of security challenges.

Bandits,kidnappers herdsmen kill over 2000 Kaduna people in 4 months-Isa Rabi'u

April 28, 2021

News of attacks by criminal elements in their various guise, either as bandits, kidnappers, herdsmen, have become normal since the beginning of the year 2021 as suspected criminal elements have killed thousands of Kaduna people in a space of 4 months.

Many kadalites, at the end of 2020, had prayed they never have to experience what they went through because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, as they looked forward to a more favourable year as they crossed over to 2021. But the first quarter of the year proved to be laced with greater dangers, occasioned by insecurity and growing dissent in almost every part of Kaduna state.

News of deaths, killings, kidnappings, attacks leading to destruction of property in almost every part of the 23 local government in the state.

Many kadalites who spoke randomly believe the state is under siege.Kadalites believe that many other commercial criminals kidnapping for profit and killing their victims have continued to operate freely without questions.

With violence and killings spreading rapidly across 23 local government in the state, no particular place is spared.I believe if this continues, it will be massive death harvest at the end of 2021.

The current insecurity situation has threatened kadalites and other political actors across the state.

Similarly,Emir of birnin kwari had been attacked by gunmen in the state.

These attacks and killings have drawn global attention to Kaduna with many reactions and little or no effort to tackle the menace.

From a rough estimate, gleaned from Nigeria Security tracker, a project of the Council on Foreign Affairs, the combined attacks of these armed groups and other lesser criminals, have led to more than 2000 innocent deaths in the state. This figure does not, however, include casualties on the side of the insurgents, bandits, herdsmen, kidnappers but that of innocent kadalites killed for being Nigerians and security agents, whose lives were cut short, mostly in the line of duty.

There have been several attacks across the state leading to deaths that were not reported in the media.

Many believe lives in Kaduna has become very cheap, that news of killings no longer sound strange, stating that it has become a “situation of where and who is next?”

El-rufai policies for ever remain anti people anti workers, anti peasant's and Masses-Dr Abdurrahman Usman

April 21,2021

We said it before and once again,we are further vindicated.Elrufai"s government policies, would for ever remain anti people,( anti workers, anti peasant's and Masse's),.his,is government of the rich by the rich, for rich, family and friend's cabal.

He has either sack almost anything stackable, demolished almost anything demolish able.our public school's,lack adequate and qualitative number's of teacher's, pertinently in core subject's.now he wants to permanently, enslave the son's of the Masse's,by denying them access to tertiary education, through the introduction of very prohibitive tuition fee's.

Who Say's his and APC agenda,is ever for the masses. Kadalites, let's shine our eye's and ear's very well, vote out the satanic, anti people APC,at every available opportunity,be it, local, off season and or general election's.any further delay is very dangerous to our existence.

We have lost count of how many people, APC'S anti - human policies, has untimely sent to their grave's.do not be carried away by any supposed infrastructural development. please of what use are road's and shopping mall's, when the average citizen can not afford three square meal's,nay even means to acquire any form of vehicle nay even bicycle or motorcycle,to play, the road's erected at the most prohibitive cost in the west African sub region.

The interest on loan repayments are weighing in heavily on a government that has over traded, the affairs of state of both the present and future Kadalites.there is no room for transparency and due process,in an environment, whereby, contract's are mostly given to surrogate's of member's of family and crony's of mainly those in government.it is rather unfortunate, that today, after, Borno and yobe state's,Kaduna state, now has the highest number of out of school children, occasioned by kidnapping and banditry as well as, poor cum lack of tuition and learning infrastructure.

PoliticsPDP Condemned The Illegal Mass Sack/retirement Of Works By Governor Elrufai by isahrabson(op): 6:34pm On Apr 10, 2021
PDP condemned the illegal mass sack/retirement of works by Governor elrufai

April 10,2021

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), vehemently condemned the illegal mass sack/retirement of the 2,118 Local Government staff and yet another over 1,600 staff of the Primary Health Centres, by governor Nasir Elrufai, the governor of Kaduna State.

The action by the governor is outrightly unlawful, callous and smacks off the insensitivity of the APC government to the plight of the good people of the state.

It is disheartening that a government which asserts itself as a believer of the rule of law, however, never hesitate to break the same law in pursuit of its unscrupulous policies, based on their whims and caprices.

Decisions of this nature by the Elrufai administration since assumption of office, has been responsible for the heightened insecurity and poverty which has become so pervasive in the State, to the extent that the slogan 'Centre of Learning' which Kaduna State is known for is now referred to as the "kidnapping hub of the Nation."

This, and several other actions of the governor leaves all and sundry, without any iota of doubt, that indeed the Elrufai/APC led government, just as it is at the Federal level, lacks human face and is a conglomeration of family and friends that lacks empathy and compassion in governance.

Any administration that thrives on cruel policies and programmes is obviously anti-people and merciless, which negates the objective of good governance.

Going down memory lane, it is on record that Kaduna State has recorded the most unprecedented highest number of, not only, retrenched or dismissed workers, but sadly too, whose benefits and gratuities have been denied for years.

It clearly leaves no one in doubt that the governance style of Nasir Elrufai led APC government is more about fostering physical, psychological and emotional hardship on the citizenry.

With an empirical record of over 100,000 unlawfully retired or summarily dismissed workers as at today, and still counting, multiplied by an average of 10 dependants per household, so affected by Elrufai's actions thus, summing up to cover about a million people.

This, coupled with the demolition of houses and small businesses owned by the
down trodden masses, has caused so much havoc to the small and medium scale
enterprises to the point that one can conclusively say that the government
doesn't want their presence in the State rather, it wants to foist a capitalist driven
economy on the citizenry, further making life unbearable and brutish for the common man.

The impact of the insecurity in the State, apart from denying the largely agrarian
population from accessing their farmlands as well as fear of being kidnapped,
which in the past used to largely be in the villages and outskirts, however is far
becoming a common everyday occurrence, even within the city centres.

It is even more worrisome that the lackadaisical attitude of the governor of the
State in not showing empathy to the families affected by the various acts of
kidnapping, banditry and even those who suffer fatalities leaves much to be desired.

The grandstanding attitude of the governor and his officials/aides gives them away
that they did not really earned the votes of the people, otherwise, the citizens of
Kaduna State will not have been treated with so much disdain.

It has now become a norm in the state that workers' salaries are inconsistent and
fluctuates on a monthly basis same too with even the payment of the salaries.

As at today, the civil servants in the State don't know their monthly net take home
pay. The average civil servant in Kaduna State do not enjoy security of his
contracted tenure as scheduled in the civil service rules.

Welfare of the citizenry, most especially workers, who toil day and night to ensure
the smooth running of government and generality of the people should, ordinarily,
always be of paramount importance in the scheme of things.

In sane climes,
unemployed citizens are given monthly stipends to keep them going, so as to
prevent social insecurity.

The State Government under Elrufai, claimed to have increased
the internally generated revenue to over #5 billion monthly. If this is true, it wouldn't have been possible without the Hard work and commitment of these civil servants.

Governor Nasir Elrufai of Kaduna State has broken the Guiness Book of World
Records, as the governor or leader that sacked over 22,000 workers in one full
swoop! Sadly, these workers sacked since 2016 have not been paid their
entitlements.

The historic negative record of Governor El-Rufai is not only in clear violation of
the fundamental human rights of those so affected, but also clear disregard to the
extant Kaduna State civil service rules, provisions and procedures, stated thereto,
in the conditions of service as it relates to appointments of persons into the State
civil service, and also contravenes section 210 of the 1999 Constitution as amended,
which guarantees pension and gratuities rights of the retirees and also without
any fair hearing to the sacked workers who were issued their
dismissal/retirement letters starting from Tuesday, 6th April, 2021

The PDP calls for a reversal of this mass and unethical sack of all those so affected,
and payment of their entitlements by the Kaduna State Government.

PoliticsOpen Letter To The Executive Governor El-rufa’i By Rt.hon Isa Ashiru by isahrabson(op): 10:46pm On Apr 06, 2021
OPEN LETTER TO THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KADUNA STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY MALAM NASIR AHMED EL-RUFA’I

Your Excellency,
It is with a high sense of responsibility that I have decided to write to you this Open Letter to express my utmost concern over the rising insecurity in our dear Kaduna State. The widespread cases of banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crimes which, almost on daily basis, result in the loss of human lives and properties are most disturbing to me and other well-meaning people of the State.
Although it is true that such security challenges are not peculiar to Kaduna State as some other States in the North are under similar threats, it is however most painful that the problem in our own State is getting worst by the day as the recent abduction of the students, mostly females, of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization in Afaka-Kaduna has shown. The confirmation by the Emir of Birnin-Gwari His Highness Alhaji Zubairu Jibril Maigwari that over 30 communities in his Emirate have been displaced by bandits as well as reports of similar occurrences in the various parts of Southern Kaduna are all phenomena that have put our people in a situation of helplessness and hopelessness.
Your Excellency, I am fully aware of the fact that some forms of insecurity in Kaduna State have predated your Administration as successive governments, either military or civilian, contended with similar challenges over the past decades. It was even such experience that necessitated the adoption of certain measures by several past State Governments which had helped towards the containment of the crisis in Kaduna State.
However, in the last six years that you have been at the helm of affairs the challenges have not only persisted but have also worsened with the perpetrators of the criminal acts becoming even more daring. As a result of incessant attacks on communities in Birnin-Gwari, Kajuru, Zangon Kataf, Sanga and some other places, thousands of people (mostly women and children) have now become Internally Displaced Persons [IDPs] living in camps without enough access to food, healthcare and education, even as farmers-herders clashes have continued unabated causing not only loss of lives but also severely affecting food production in the State.
The persistence and even escalation of violence across Kaduna State have continued to re-enforce the belief that there must have been something wrong with the approach of the State Government to the issue of insecurity in the State. It is already clear that the strategies of the State Government for the restoration of peace and security are either inadequate or ineffective and should therefore be thoroughly re-examined with a view to either strengthening or completely substituting them with better ones.
As always stated even in the official circles, security maintenance and peace promotion require the participation of every member and segment of the society which clearly means that government alone can not guarantee the security of the people, especially now that the threats to human lives have become more pronounced and pervasive. Government at all levels are therefore required to, as a matter of responsibility, consider it necessary to engage as many stakeholder groups as possible in the security maintenance and peace-building processes.
It is in the light of the fact stated above that I wish to make the following recommendations.
1. The Kaduna State Government should, as a matter of utmost urgency, organize a Security Summit which shall serve as an avenue for the expression of views and idea-sharing by individuals and various stakeholder groups on the persistent insecurity in Kaduna State. The invitees, either as individuals or groups shall use the opportunity to be provided by the Summit to comprehensively look at the security situation in Kaduna State vis-a vis the approaches of the Federal, State and Local Governments to the matter.
Additionally, the Summit shall be required to identify the causes, patterns/manifestations and effects of insecurity on the people of the State as well as focus on all the issues relating to the rehabilitation and return of IDPs to their original places, all with a view to coming up with the immediate, medium and long-term solutions to the problem of insecurity in Kaduna State.
Delegates to the Summit should include all former Military and Civilian Governors of the state, indigenes of the State who served as Military Governors or Administrators in some other States, indigenes of the State who held top ranks/positions in the military, para-military and security agencies, all former commissioners of police in the State [serving and retired] as well as the indigenes of the State who served as Police Commissioners in some other States. The others include retired Chief Justices and Justices of the Supreme and Appeal Courts from the state, former and serving legislators at both state and federal levels as well as other prominent politicians, traditional rulers, all former and serving Vice Chancellors from Kaduna State, renowned media practitioners and the representatives of religious, socio-cultural, ethnic and civil society organizations.
2. Let me also, Your Excellency, use this opportunity to advise you to always weigh the implications of your actions and utterances for the State, especially at this time of heightened insecurity. I am of the strong belief that a lot of your past statements on even sensitive issues of security and peaceful co-existence among the people of the State had only increased the prevalent tension. As the Executive Governor and therefore Chief Security Officer of the State you are always required to exercise utmost caution in the manner you address issues because whatever you say or do will definitely, either positively or negatively, influence the thinking and attitudes of the people of the State. It is in fact only such an exercise of absolute caution and the regular engagement of stakeholders that can be effective measures for the restoration of peace and security in Kaduna State.
3. Finally, while I wish to implore you to facilitate the rescue of all those held by kidnappers in Kaduna State as a way of restoring public confidence in the government, I also pray for a maximum success in the on-going fight against all forms of criminality in Kaduna State, in the North and in the whole Country.
Yours Sincerely,

Honourable Isa Mohammed Ashiru

PDP Congratulates Christians on the occasion of Easter.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),Kaduna State Chapter, congratulates Christians across the State on the occasion of Easter and urges citizens to use the period to pray and show love to one another, which is a cardinal part of the Christian faith, as Jesus Christ did.

The PDP notes that the historic death and resurrection of Jesus Christ from the death for the atonement of our sins is indeed a priceless sacrifice made by God to all mankind.

The party further calls on all Christians to pray for our dear State to overcome all her insecurity challenges, which includes Kidnappings, banditry, herdsmen attacks, hunger and economic woes caused by misgovernance.

The celebration of Easter is a sign of man's gratitude to God on the salvation of mankind, through sacrifice of His son, and to also strengthen the christian faith.

Our party therefore, calls on all citizens not to despair, even in the face of hopelessness, but also use the occasion of Easter to rekindle their hope, remain prayerful and redouble their trust in God for a better society.

How Kaduna Turned From 'Centre of Learning' To Centre of Bandits, Kidnappings and Killings - Isa Rabi'u

March 29, 2021

If we can recall, the present administration under the APC, in six years have caused the state of Kaduna to lose her once upon a time glory totally, as a result of insecurity in the state. Living has become, unbearable because the APC government failed to protect lives and properties in the state.

Kaduna state turned from centre of learning to centre of bandits, kidnappings and killings due to lack of good leadership. Kaduna state residents are tired of this expensive cost of living. We can't continue folding our hands living with the devils tormenting us on daily basis as a result of insecurity.

I call on Governor El-rufai to focus on the security challenges in the state, rather than demolishing markets and houses of the masses in the state. The present challenge of the state is insecurity not unauthorised land occupation. As a Governor, if you are unable to tackle security challenges then your government have no concern for the wellbeing of the masses and lack merits.

Our beloved Kaduna state is the core of the Northern States, so if our school institutions and other places are not safeguarded by the so-called APC government. Then I am telling you we are in hell sleeping with our eyes open during night time.

The Kaduna people have a big task ahead of us. Lets put aside our religious differences to galvanise as one big family and make ourselves securities by selecting the bad beans among us out, for a better life ahead. The governor bought super glue and blocked his listing ears and failed to listen to advises from elders of the state.

PRESS STATEMENT

20/3/2021

PDP Condemns the rising spate of insecurity in Kaduna State...

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State Chapter condemn the rising spate of insecurity in the state.

It is no longer news that Kaduna State has become the hotbed of Kidnappings, armed banditry and other heinous crimes in Nigeria today.

The recent abduction of 39 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna by bandits (kidnappers), the foiled Government Science Secondary School, Ikara attack and that of aviation staff quarters, the kidnap of 3 teachers from government Primary School in Rema Village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, the attack on the convoy of the Emir of Birnin Gwari and so many unreported incidences in some suburbs, as well as villages within the state is not only alarming but frightening.

The current level of insecurity in the state where people find it difficult to sleep with their eyes close, parents are scared of sending their children to school, economic and social activities are threatened and hampered is appalling and unprecedented.

The Party is worried by the situation wherein criminals have freely turned the kidnapping of innocent school students and other vulnerable citizens for ransom, into a lucrative business following the lacklustre approach and media propaganda under the Elrufai's administration in the fight against banditry/terrorism in our dear state.

This and many more, indicates the failure of governance under the APC led administration in the state and validates concerns that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its administration is bereft of solutions to fight and nip in the bud the spate of insecurity under their watch.

The party challenge Governor Nasir Elrufai to wake up to his responsibilities of securing lives and property of the citizens of the State, by dealing decisively with these criminals.

Therefore, we demand the immediate rescue of the Afaka 39 and all other kidnapped victims alive from the hands of their abductors.

Regrettably, our party weeps over the unfortunate situation that our state is being plunged into crises caused by ineffective security command structure and strategy.

The PDP sympathises with the families of the victims of these dastardly acts.

Now in preparation for a repeat of same, it is alleged that the maximum ruler who see's himself as if ruling a sovereign nation, is alluding to say that, where ever, there is report of violence, there would be no election and an illegal sole administrator, would be appointed by him, to rule for 3 years or tenure of the supposed elected council official's.

I’m not leaving PDP – Fani-Kayode opens up on defecting to APC

February 25, 2021

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has dismissed claims of defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Fani-Kayode said leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was never an option.

He disclosed this during a meeting with members of the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, led by the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus in his residence in Abuja.

He said: “We had a very extensive and fruitful meeting and I want to state here and now that, whatever issues there may have been, have been resolved. We are moving forward as one. I never left the PDP, I am in PDP and I am proud to be here.

“Whatever the case may be, what is happening in the country now, the best thing for us to do is to build bridges across party lines, across regional, ethnic and religious lines. This is the only way we can be glad to have a country we can call our own.”

Recall that Fani-Kayode had met Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and the interim Caretaker Chairman of APC, Mai Mala Buni.

Shortly after the meeting, governor Bello had claimed that Fani-Kayode has joined the APC.

Bello had said the former minister joined the ruling party to add his positive energy.

Fani-Kayode, however, countered Bello’s claim, insisting that he was still a member of PDP.

PDP Not Threatened By APC Registration Exercise – Hyet

February 24,2021

Hon. Hassan Hyet is the Kaduna State PDP chairman. In this interview with ISRAEL BULUS, he speaks on the internal crises in the party and other issues

What are you doing about the internal crisis that has led to the emergence of a PDP group?

That group which calls itself restoration is against the party’s constitution. Nobody can just wake up and form a group that’s not recognised in the constitution of the party. So, what they’re doing is an act of illegality. This is a group that is already in court. If it has gone to court one would expect that as civilised and patriotic citizens, the members would allow the court to adjudicate on their grievances. In any case the party does not allow people to go to court without exhausting the laid down procedures of resolving either real or perceived grievances. As far as we’re concerned what they’re doing is not in accordance with the constitution of the party.

The group alleged that you’re operating illegally because the last congress that produced the ward, local government and state executives of the party, did not adhere to due process. What is your reaction?

That was why they went to court. Unless the court decides whether we’re operating illegally or not. Is it for them to decide that we’re operating illegal?

Why did the party set-up a 70-man Committee?

Is no longer a 70 member committee. It was later expanded to 120 persons to reposition the party. It is a normal process for party activities. We finished an election and there are future elections. As a party, we cannot say that we have everything at 100 percent level, especially when we are an opposition party.

Some members of the party have accused your leadership of not carrying everybody along within the party. What is your reaction?

If people feel they’ve not been carrying along the question is in what way have they not been carrying along? As chairman of the party, I have specific functions as spelt out in the party constitution. The only way you can get the people participate is to setup committees and give out assignment and that’s what we’re doing so that everybody will have that sense of belonging and some of this things are not supposed to be centered at the state level. The basis of politics is at the ward level. Every political heavy weight should have alot of inputs in his ward and then in his local government. What we do here at the state level is coordination.

Some of the party members also alleged that your emergence as chairman was ploy by power brokers to ensure some anointed aspirants win the party’s primaries come 2023 ?

I don’t know who intends to contest an election. As far as I am concerned, nobody has come to tell me he wantsto contest for an election. If you’re opposed to me because you intend to contest for an election it is suprising that you did not tell me you want to contest and even if you’re to contest I am not the one that’s going to give you the votes it is the people and I don’t change votes. The 2018 primary election we was judged one of the best conducted in the history of PDP in Kaduna State and all those that participated said it was free and fair, so, why are they worried now?

Are you jittery that the APC, will absorb most of your members into their party having lost power in the state for six years now?

On the contrary, their exercise is already deemed to fail, if not so, why are they directing civil servants to go and register with APC? Allow people to register base on their conscience and base on their belief. If the APC is doing well they don’t need anybody to go out and campaign for them to be registered people will be rushing. But the contrary is the case here so we’re not jittery at all.

Having alleged that the ruling party is asking civil servant to go and register as APC members, is the PDP going to take any legal action?

By the time this allegation is true, certainly, we’ll condemn it. Even if we didn’t take any legal action, we knowthat that move is not taking them to anywhere and what we see them trying to do is that. They are deceiving people in the villages.

PoliticsEFCC Tenders Evidence Against Ramalan Yero by isahrabson(op): 7:18pm On Feb 23, 2021
The trial of a former governor of Kaduna State, Muktar Ramalan Yero, before Justice Z. B. Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna continued on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 with the tendering of evidence by the first prosecution witness (PW1), Jonah Abimaje.

Yero is being prosecuted by the Kaduna Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over his alleged involvement in the ‘sharing’ of N700 million provided by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke to influence the outcome of the 2015 presidential election.

Abimaje, who was Head of Operations at Ahmadu Bello Branch Kaduna, and acting regional Head of Operations, Ali Akilu Branch of a new generation bank in 2015, had during his testimony at the last sitting (January 21, 2021) narrated how monies received by the bank from the Central Bank of Nigeria was collected by the defendants.

The witness testified to the effect that, the said sum was paid to the 2nd and 4th defendants in cash, to which they signed a ‘collection form’ individually as evidence of collection.

At the resumed sitting today, Abimaje, while being led in evidence by counsel to the EFCC, Nasiru Salele, tendered two receipts of cash collected by the defendants.

The admissibility of the documents was strongly objected to by the defence who argued that the documents were not properly certified and that such document ought to be tendered through an officer of the Commission and not through a private witness from the bank.

In response, Salele argued that the documents were properly certified by the bank adding that, the originals of the documents in question were still in the custody of the bank. He urged the court to admit the documents in evidence.

After arguments and counter arguments by counsel, Justice Abubakar adjourned till March 25, 2021 for ruling and continuation of hearing.

PRESS RELEASE

16/2/2021

Our attention has been drawn to a purpoted Local Government elections in Kaduna State, notice and time table, by the Kaduna State Electoral Commission,KADSIECOM.

The "Overseer"and his cohorts, have no legal power to convene such meeting(s), as it is not duly constituted by the combined effect of Section 197 (b) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and the 3rd schedule of the constitution, which clearly states the powers of the State Independent Electoral Commission.

It is only a duly constituted State Electoral Commission that can give such notice(s), as in the case of Kaduna State Electoral Commission whose membership is not complete and the "Overseer" is not recognised by the law.

Therefore, the notice issued, and any other act done by the "Overseer", is unconstitutional and cannot stand.

As far as the law is concerned, there is no SIECOM Body in Kaduna State, until such a time the membership of the Commission is properly constituted.

Thus, the People's Democratic Party,PDP, is calling on all its members and supporters to to remain calm and focused, as this illegality cannot hold any water.

Finally, the party calls on the governor Nasir Elrufai led APC government, to be more proactive and live up to his constitutional responsibilities, by constituting a legally recognised electoral body, that would conduct Local Government elections in the Kaduna State, which would be recognised by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

2023:Nigeria needs senator makarfi- Isa Rabiu

February 15,2021

I personally said that Nigeria needed focused and committed patriots like unifier and bridge builder, senator Ahmed Mohammed makarfi to place her along the trajectory of development.

I totally averse to making comments about politicians due to lack of trust in them, but i was always pleased seeing the likes of senator makarfi, whom i described as “exemplary and an epitome of humility and simple gentle man to the core for the masses entirely.”

After evaluating what Makarfi did in the past both State and national level as lecture, banker, commissioner, governor, senator, PDP national chairman and having followed his contributions to nation-building and his numerous advice on what should be done, that i was convinced Nigeria needed his likes to move her along the parts of recovery and development.

Describing makarfi from the core as a politician cast with a different mound, i said that seeing him renewed the faith of all men of good will that with right leadership, Nigeria would get it right once again.

Insisting that makarfi is more than the presidency position he vied for during the 2019 general elections,my view let him go for the number one position again because, according to me,makarfi has a lot to offer this country in terms of the leadership and easy life that has continued to elude her.

The same general Buhari that is in aso rock or perhaps, it is his cloned surrogate

February 14,2021

General Buhari, when silence is not golden. I wish to appeal to the conscience of our present day ruler, general Buhari, his handling of critical and sensitive national issue's in a non chalant manner, has kept me gapping for breath and thinking aloud, is it the same general that is in aso rock or perhaps, it is his cloned surrogate !

Only a ruler would keep mute in the face of daunting national challenges that threatens the very fabric of our mutual and continued existence as a nation, in time's like this.general, no nation has ever survived two civil war's.the catastrophic effect of such in Nigeria on the global security is only best imagined in a very bad dream.

The international community, must stand up to our ruler, bluntly and decisively, he either be a statesman or shift aside. there is no time to waste, stern measures must be quickly taken to arrest the slide to an animal farm conundrum, as a first step, declare state of emergency in Oyo state now. please remember, a stitch in time Save's nine, stop the drift now !
