Review Kaduna Guber Polls, Observers Tell INEC

March 29, 2023

Coalition of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accredited observer groups for credible election have called on the commission to review the gubernatorial election results declared for Kaduna State.

The observers said the election went well in Kaduna State but that at the point of collation, the results were not tallying with what was uploaded to the INEC IReV portal.

The returning officer of the Kaduna State governorship election, Prof, Lawal Bilbis, had declared that the APC candidate, Uba Sani polled 730,002 to defeat his rival, Isah Ashiru of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 719,196.

The breakdown of the results showed that APC won in ten local governments of Zaria, Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Sabon Gari, Igabi, IKara, Kauru, and Kubau while PDP won 13 local governments of Makarfi, Kachia, Chikun, Kagarko, Jaba, Jema’a, Kaura, Zango Kataf, Soba, Kudan, Chikun, Kaura, Sanga, and Lere.

At a press conference in Abuja, the national coordinator, Centre For Strategy Ethics and Values, Romans Azubuike, who spoke on behalf of the INEC accredited observer, said the INEC national headquarters should review the Kaduna gubernatorial election results.

“We are calling on INEC to review the election results for the gubernatorial election in Kaduna State.

“The election was transparent until at the point of coalition that things began to change. The process was transparent at the beginning but in Southern Kaduna, Birnin Gwari and some other local governments the coalition should be reviewed because they couldn’t transfer the result to the INEC portal in real time.

“So, we are using this opportunity to call on INEC to review the election results, particularly the gubernatorial election,” Azubuike stated.

Kaduna PDP Gov’ship Candidate To Challenge Poll Results In Court

March 24, 2023

Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Isah Mohammed Ashiru, has resolved to challenge the outcome of the March 18, 2023 governorship poll in the court to reclaim his “stolen” mandate.

Ashiru, who addressed a press conference yesterday, called on his supporters and party loyalists to remain calm, adding that the mandate of the people of Kaduna State given to him has been stolen, but he has confidence in the judiciary to reclaim his mandate.

He said, though, going to court is his second option, the first is seeking administrative intervention of the electoral body.  Ashiru said he has the responsibility to reclaim the mandate of the people of Kaduna State.

According to Ashiru, “I want to seek this opportunity to thank the good people of Kaduna State for coming out en-mass to cast their votes for the betterment of all. They have done their very best in electing the PDP into Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, but unfortunately, because of the power that be, a lot of things have happened and the resultant effect is what we have today. It is unfortunate and something that will live in the time of history.

“But, I want to assure you that, Hon. Ashiru is law abiding, our supporters are law abiding and we will continue to do the same. I want to call on the good people of Kaduna state to remain calm, be law abiding. And I want to assure you all that, our party the PDP is studying the situation and very soon, we will make a statement.

“The mandate is not mine, it belongs to the good people of Kaduna State and I have a responsibility to ensure that we recover that mandate. The stolen mandate will by the grace of God be recovered to better the lives of our people.

“We have laid down procedures and we have laws in the land, going to court is the second option that we have. The diary’s option is seeking administrative intervention by the Independent National Electoral Commission and the second is going to the court. Of course, the first court would be the tribunal, appeal, then the Supreme Court.

“We have confidence in the Nigerian judiciary because it is the last hope of the common man. So, I don’t have any fear of going to court, because I have confidence in the institution that they will do justice to this case, by the special grace of God,” he said.

PDP raises concern over resurgent attacks in Kaduna

March 17, 2023

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has raised concern over the implication of the resurgent attacks in Southern Kaduna on the gubernatorial and House of Assembly polls coming up on Saturday, March 18.

Mr Felix Hyat, Kaduna State PDP Chairman, made the observation in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna.

Hyet, who also doubles as the Chairman of PDP State Chairmen Forum, said that the resurgence in banditry in Southern Kaduna communities in the last few days called for serious concern.

“The PDP in Kaduna State is worried that the attackers may be playing out a script designed to scare, displace, and ultimately suppress the votes of the people of Southern Kaduna.

“The pattern, nature, and timing of the attacks, especially after a period of relative peace in the area is quite suspicious,” he stated.

Hyet added that the parry condemned the dastardly act in its entirety and urged the security agencies to be more proactive and decisive in the face of the threat to the survival of the people and democracy in the state.

“We also call on the people to remain calm and also be vigilant by promptly reporting any and all suspicious movements in their areas to the appropriate authorities.

“We appeal to everyone not to give in to the antics of those behind the attacks by taking the laws into their own hands.

“No one should create a reason for the outbreak of violence in the area or the imposition of punitive security measures that will lead to the postponement, cancellation or manipulation of the elections in the zone,” Hyet said.

The chairman urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to be disturbed by the recent security developments in Southern Kaduna.

“We want to say that the people of the zone are unshaken in their resolve to be peaceful and participate in the next round of elections on March 18, 2023, no matter the level of provocation.

Guber polls: ECWA denies endorsing Kaduna Deputy Governor

March 13, 2023

Leaders of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), on Monday, denied endorsing the Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Her Excellency, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarebe, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election and state House of Assembly election.

In a statement issued by the ECWA Chairman and the Secretary, Rev. Dr Yunana Tanimu and Rev. Nehemiah Bature, respectively, the group said “the attention of Pastors and leaders of the 21 District Church Council (DCCs) in Kaduna State has been drawn to a misleading news item on the social media alleging that ECWA endorsed the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Her Excellency, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarebe when she met with some clergies parading themselves as executive of the 21 ECWA DCCs.”

The statement described the news item as misleading, false, and strange.

According to the statement, ECWA, as a non-partisan body, has adopted a neutral stance in the past and forthcoming elections.

“But embedded in ECWA’s neutrality, is our total objection to any same faith ticket – either Christian-Christian or Muslim-Muslim ticket – in line with the same objection that the national headquarters of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed,” the statement noted.

It reiterated its stance that ECWA has not mandated the impostorts to speak for it.

The reason why Isa Ashiru want to be governor of Kaduna state –By Isa Rabi'u

March 13, 2023

The peoples democratic party (PDP) member, Isa Rabi'u Said the real reason why Rt.Hon Isa Ashiru kudan is contesting to be governor of Kaduna state in the upcoming governorship election.

Rt.Hon Isa Ashiru kudan was contesting to restore good governance and attract development for Kaduna state indegine and non-indegine for better tomorrow for everyone across the state.

The abysmal performance of the evil APC-led administration in the last seven and half years under governor Nasir Hell-rufai has taken Kaduna state backward largely in all aspects of development and needed to be repositioned and bring the state to her days of greatness after kadalites missed the former Governor of Kaduna state, Senator Ahmed Mohammad makarfi administration years back .

Ashiru contesting to be governor because he want to make Kaduna state a great place for Nigerians and make the citizens remember the days of Senator Dr Ahmed Mohammad makarfi.Ashiru's first project as incoming governor would be the issue of pensioners and to consider the sack of workers by evil APC administration government. He will clear all outstanding pension arrears, gratuity and fucus on youth empowerment, security , agriculture, education, health and return all the displaced kadalites to their ancestral homes as a result of banditary and kidnapping before embarking on proper development for the Kaduna state.

He want to unite the citizens and put an end to the train of banditary and kidnapping in the state .his hubby desire is to make Kaduna an economic hub of Nigeria through untapped natural resources. I believe that governance is for the people and he do have sleepless nights whenever citizens are complaining about bad government by the evil APC government and restore the glory of the state back to it's originality once he was elected as governor of Kaduna state hopefully .

My dear people of Kaduna state,I urge you to bring your thoughts and sense of within in one place to be able to reason and vote Rt.Hon Isa Ashiru kudan as your incoming governor of Kaduna state, than a party who is bringing religion bias to divide the head of kadalites inorder to achieve their selfish agenda.

Nigerian Students Reject Kaduna APC Governorship Candidate, Sani Over Promise To ‘Sustain Governor El-Rufai’s Policies’

The students under the leadership of Abubakar Abdullahi, stated this on Wednesday, in a declaration note titled: "Kaduna State University (KASU) Students Described Uba Sani And APC As Students’ Enemies."

Ahead of Saturday's governorship and House of Assembly elections, students of Kaduna State University have declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Uba Sani, as a "lifetime nemesis".

The students under the leadership of Abubakar Abdullahi, stated this on Wednesday, in a declaration note titled: "Kaduna State University (KASU) Students Described Uba Sani And APC As Students’ Enemies."

The statement signed by Abdullahi, President Kadssu KASU, accused the APC and Sani of causing too much harm than good to students and Kaduna State as a whole.

The students said the APC government which Sani was part of increased tuition which caused the dropout of over 2,000 students who could not afford to pay for the new school fees.

Abdullahi recalled how Sani, a former Senator who represented Kaduna Central Zone, confirmed to the public during a debate for governorship candidates on BBC Hausa held at the university that he would sustain the policies of Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.

The statement reads, "History will never be kind to us as students’ leadership, who were duly elected by the majority number of students in the university if we failed to tell them the truth at this trying time.

"It has come to our notice that some chicken change and corrupt individuals parading themselves as Kadssu KASU Students’ leaders have liaised with Uba Sani to illegally pay the sum of N50,000 as stipend for the hiked tuition fees to some selected persons.

“I therefore on behalf of my executive members and all Kaduna State University Students make it clear to the public that we have no hand in whatsoever agreement they made regarding the kangaroo arrangement for payment as it's nemesis will never set us free.

"We don't want Uba Sani to pay any stipend. If he truly loves Kaduna State Students, then he should advise El-Rufai to reverse or reduce the hiked tuition fees as a sitting Senator and El-Rufai's close ally."

"I, therefore, call on all well-meaning Kaduna State University Students not to be distracted by the failed government as we will continue agitating for reversal or decrease of our tuition fees to enable every student complete his/her course of study," it adds.

There were plans allegedly by “powers that be” to arrest 80 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)in Kaduna State so that they would not participate in the forthcoming Governorship election, former Governor of the state, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has alleged.

He raises the alarm to let the world know that the action was deliberately done to harass and stop members of the PDP in Kaduna from participating in the forthcoming governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Makarfi, the former chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee alleged that PDP is in possession of the list of those penciled down for arrest before the governorship and House of Assembly elections, rescheduled for March, 18, 2023.

“Our attention has been drawn to above list of our field officers, drawn up by the Government to be arrested and detained until after the elections. This has grievous implications,” he said.

“Those pencilled down for arrest, were drawn from Kudan, Sanga, Igabi, Lere,, Kachia, Jaba and Kaduna North Local Government Areas of the State which are PDP strongholds.”

Makarfi warned the Government in the State to desist from arbitrary arrest of members of the PDP as a prelude to the conduct of the governorship and State House of Assembly elections which has been rescheduled to March 18, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Senator Makarfi while reacting to the arrest of Saidu Adamu the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Campaign Council in Kaduna State and the two other members of the party said that “Honourable Adamu is still in detention and we don’t know the alleged offenses. He Adamu has also not been charged to court, it is a very sad development.”

Meanwhile, the state Chairman of the PDP and former Minister of Aviation, Hassan Hyet has alleged that the ruling APC in Kaduna State was coming up with ” thrump up charges ” to nail the PDP chieftains who were given on bail on Thursday afternoon.

He called on the EFCC and other anti graft agencies to check the alleged excesses of the APC and ensure the smooth conduct of elections in the state.

They’ve been threatening traditional rulers, distributing indomie and spaghetti to deceive voters,” he alleged.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna State, Hon.Isah Ashiru Kudan, has said that to effectively tackle banditry and kidnapping in the state, he would adopt a non kinetic measure by negotiating with the bandits.

In an interview with ARISE TV, Ashiru said among others that “the truth of the matter is that whether we like it or not, people must be involved in getting us out of these insecurity problems. The issues that are enumerated are those of our inability to take maximum use of our vast lands. We have vast lands that are ungoverned.”

“In the past, we had traditional rulers that were managing these vast lands but these rulers are no more now. When we come onboard, I assure you that we’ll ensure the right things are done by bringing these people back.”

“Second, the issue of funding as far as the security issue is concerned in the state has been very poor. We have made contacts with those that are in the security apparatus within the state and they said they’ve not had enough as far as the issue of funding is concerned. We will make sure that we do the right things as far as the issue of funding is concerned.”

“We have to engage these people involved in banditry and kidnapping. They are people living among us. People are thinking that they are monsters, they are not. We can sit with them, discuss, and bring this menace to an end.”

“The problem in Kaduna is disturbing. Come to Kaduna and see. People are not sleeping with their eyes closed. If we really want to get this thing out of our society, there has to be an engagement with these people to make sure that whatever is their problem is addressed,” he said

Kaduna 2023: PDP can’t allow religious crisis in Kaduna state- Isa Rabi'u

March 7, 2023

Ahead of the March 11 Governorship and House of Assembly elections, Isa Rabi'u member campaign media team of PDP Kaduna state chapter warned that the people democratic party ( PDP) will not allow religious crisis in the state.

Isa stated this on Tuesday in Abuja , urged both Muslims and Christians to be conscious within their heart not to be use by the APC party Muslim/Muslim ticket in the state to bring disunity between the Duo faith that will lead to calamity.

Isa said that the called was necessitated due to the dangerous religious dimension of ongoing politics ahead of the March 11 elections.

He also condemned some inciting and provocative videos that went viral on the social media promoting religious politics against PDP gubernatorial candidate Rt.Hon Isa Ashiru kudan by so-called APC demonic agents in the state.

Isa however commended religious and traditional leaders for a peaceful conduct of Feb. 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state and do the same ahead of gubernatorial election.

The success of the last elections to the effort of all stakeholders, urging them to put all hands on deck and close ranks to ensure that the upcoming election is also peaceful and winnable to PDP.

He further said that the PDP cannot allow anybody to divide the people and destroy the state because of politics especially by APC government in the state through Muslim/Muslim ticket.

Kaduna has always been seen as a peaceful place, the Muslims and Christians are living in peace and harmony with One another. So, the PDP cannot allow religious crisis in the state.

“If the state is not peaceful, even those develish inciting people cannot have the time to send those messages, as everybody will be on the run.

Power comes from God and He gives it to whoever He wants at anytime and the time of PDP has come to dismantle the present APC government in Kaduna state, so, as politicians, we should only present ourselves to the people in a unique ways for better positive results ahead.

Isa Rabi'u has called residents of Kaduna state to learn from the recent election, where PDP won massively in the presidential election in the state and do the same in gubernatorial election inorder to flush the barbaric evil APC government away in Kaduna state.

He therefore appealed to religious leaders to talk to their followers to desist from any act capable of breaching the existing peace in the state, especially by APC government who gave some few imams peanut to preach against PDP gubernatorial candidate, he said!

Kaduna guber poll: PDP, APC trade words over Muslim-Muslim ticket

March 3, 2023

Ahead of the March 11 gubernatorial election in Kaduna State, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and its main opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) traded words over the Muslim/Muslim ticket adopted by the ruling APC.

In a petition submitted to the security agencies in Kaduna, the PDP alleged plans to discredit its candidate (Isah Ashiru) by propagating the Muslim/Muslim ticket agenda during the Friday prayers across the state.

In the petition, PDP warned that this will trigger protests by their members which could lead to violence like what happened during Juma’at Prayers in Katsina last week.

The statement signed by Assistant director PDP public affairs, Yakubu Lere, noted that, “PDP believe that, places of worship must not be politicized and wondered why after 8 years APC has nothing to campaign with other than religion.

“PDP wish to remind people of Kaduna State, that, under same Muslim-Muslim ticket over 100 Mosques where demolished. Similarly, out of over 100 thousand people sacked from office, 70 thousand were Muslims.

“Furthermore, it was under Muslim-Muslim that the same Muslims were denied Juma’at Prayers for 16 weeks while those prayed at Murtala square had to pay 500,000 fees.

“In the same vein, of 12 permanent secretaries sacked, 8 were Muslim while out of over 10 thousand shops confiscated from innocent traders 90 thousand belong to Muslim. So what has the present Muslim-Muslim ticket benefited Muslims in the State?

“In the light of all these, we urge our Muslim Umma in the state to shun these antics by those few Imams who were paid millions of naira to preach against their fellow Muslim brother, Rt. Hon. Isa Ashiru Kudan – wa’iyazu billah.”

In a swift reaction, the APC campaign council through its Director, Strategic Communication, Ibraheem Musa on Friday, said the PDP should be held responsible in the case of a breakdown of law and order.

He, therefore, called for the arrest of one of the party’s spokesmen, Yakubu Lere.

“The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) should be held responsible for any breach of peace in Kaduna state before, during and after the gubernatorial election and one of its spokesmen should be invited by security agents to shed more light on the looming breakdown of law and order that he had earlier warned against.

APC noted, “In a petition to security agents, the Assistant Director Public Affairs of its Kaduna state chapter, had raised an alarm over possible violence today, ‘’like what happened during juma’at prayers in Katsina last week,’’ when PDP members protested the use of ‘’Islamic clerics.’’

“The petition whose excerpts have gone viral is somewhat ambiguous and lacks clarity, so security agents should ask the PDP spokesman to share his intelligence with them.

“For example, he should mention the people who will be using “Islamic clerics’’ during today’s Jumma’at prayers, and in what ways and manner they will do so. Above all, the spokesman should reveal how the reaction of PDP members will lead to violence.

“Failing to give a satisfactory answer, the spokesman should be charged to court under extant laws of Kaduna state, for giving false information or concealment, defamation and public incitement.

“Ironically, rather than try to win the people’s support, given its locust years in office which citizens of Kaduna state rejected in 2015, PDP is trying to blackmail its way to office by intimidation, raising the spectre of violence and dragging our respected Islamic clerics into the murky waters of politics, in its desperation to grab power during the March 11 gubernatorial election.

“The residents of Kaduna state will not forget the 16 wasteful years of the PDP government in a hurry, when they had nothing to show for the huge statutory allocations that it had received from the Federation Account, in terms of development.

“Instead, the last PDP administration left behind huge debts and pension liabilities, a state divided along ethno-religious lines and a subnational with very low Human Development Indices.

“Upon assuming office in 2015, the Malam Nasir El Rufai government reversed these negative parameters, by revamping education, overhauling the health sector and improving human capital in general,”A it declared.

Ashiru Congratulates Kaduna Voters on Peaceful Elections.

The Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rt Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru congratulates the People of Kaduna State on the peaceful conduct of the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Ashiru further congratulates voters on turning out to vote, despite the scarcity of cash, fuel, and other challenges associated with the voting processes, adding that their patriotic sacrifices shows both the quest of people to have more qualified and genuine leaders leading them in 2023, and their faith in the democratic process.

In congratulating the winners of the just concluded elections, Ashiru tasks them to be magnanimouse in victory by accepting all as theirs now. He further identified with those who lost, saying that losing an election affords one the experience to try again.

While further analyzing the outcome of the elections, Ashiru noted that: “With the Presidential and National Assembly elections concluded, the path has now become clearer for a unified approach toward the gubernatorial elections coming up in two weeks’ time. Now is the time for us all in Kaduna State to bury all differences, close ranks, and work together for the success of the PDP and for the benefit of the people of Kaduna State.

“The eight years of the APC has brought so much hardship and bloodletting to Kaduna State. It is now incumbent upon us all, no matter our differences, to come together and put an end to a government that is replete with a total lack of empathy, insensitive, and the most misplaced elitist approach to governance that Kaduna has seen. So, I call on all people of Kaduna State to again, reject the APC in the coming gubernatorial and State Assembly elections. Let us not allow inpunity to continue.”

He also called on the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to critically analyze and note all areas requiring improvement in the just concluded elections, so as to effect improvements in the coming elections.

Thank you.

Politics2023: Protect INEC Facilities From APC, Tinubu Campaign, PDP Charges Securities by isahrabson(op): 11:51am On Feb 20, 2023

Press Statement

…Urges Nigerians to be at Alert

Ahead of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges security agencies to beef up security around the offices and facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from any attacks by the sinking All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP’s position is coming against the background of apprehensions in the public space of alleged plots by certain APC interests to launch a coordinated attack on INEC offices and facilities in various parts of the country with the objective of destroying the Commission's BVAS machines so as to cripple INEC’s ability to conduct the elections.

It would be recalled that our Party had earlier alerted of series of designs by some frustrated and violence-inclined APC governors and the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign to cause widespread crisis, truncate the elections, subvert our democracy and impose an undemocratic situation on our country, just because the APC has been rejected by Nigerians.

Credible information available to our Party indicates that the said APC interests which are bent at scuttling the elections to avoid a humiliating defeat are allegedly mobilizing thugs to launch fresh attacks on INEC offices and its facilities where BVAS machines are located.

Some prominent APC leaders including certain APC governors, having failed in their designs to have the elections postponed and having also been resisted in their plot to use their orchestrated cash scarcity to destabilize the nation, are now allegedly plotting to cripple INEC’s ability to conduct the elections by destroying the BVAS machines.

These APC leaders and their apologists have evidently revealed themselves as clear and present threat not only to the electoral process but also to our corporate existence as a nation and must be resisted by all.

The PDP therefore charges the security agencies to take all necessary steps to provide adequate protection for INEC facilities, equipment and personnel before, during and after the elections.

We also call on President Muhammadu Buhari to put all measures in place for free, fair, transparent and credible elections in keeping with his assurances to Nigerians and the International Community.

The PDP urges Nigerians to remain vigilant in resisting the APC and the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign in their vicious plot to cause crisis, derail our democracy and force an unconstitutional situation of Interim National Government on our nation.

The APC and the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign must accept the fact that Nigerians will never be deterred from their resolve to vote in the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, to rebuild our nation from the disastrous misrule of the APC.

PoliticsMakarfi: PDP Will Win At First Ballot, APC Has Nothing To Show by isahrabson(op): 8:13pm On Jan 31, 2023
A former Chairman, of the National Caretaker Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi has said that the PDP will win the 2023 election at first ballot because the All Progressives Congress (APC ) has nothing to show to the voters that would make them enthusiastic to vote for the party.

Speaking in an interview with journalists, the former Governor of Kaduna State said although the APC was using money and religious sentiment ahead of the election,it would take them nowhere because Nigerians were looking for an alternative which is the PDP.

Accprding to him, “politics is local, I have been at home leading the campaign here. If you notice hardly do you see me at national rallies. Because my personal opinion is that the work is at home. And the work at home is enormous. And one needs to be at home to do the needful, not to be deceived.”

“It is not about following candidates on the campaign. I have just told you that I have not been going on rallies with our candidate, but I am 100 per cent with our candidate. And I am at home working 100 per cent to make sure that Kaduna returns to PDP. If you have a responsibility to remain at home you remain at home. If you don’t have a responsibility to remain at home you can be anywhere. That is the way. I don’t want to talk about someone not being at the rally.”

“The issue is the voters, APC has nothing to show to the voters that will make voters enthusiastic to vote for them. But they want to make use of money, sentiments, and religious sentiment, And from experience, this sentiment will take them nowhere. I believe people want a state that is fair and equitable. And PDP is structured in a way and manner that is fair and equitable for development in Nigeria. So for me, it does not show up at the rally, but about the people who are looking for an alternative, and that alternative is PDP which the people are happy to associate with.”

“Each election always comes with its difficulties and peculiarities. In 2019, we didn’t have Labour Party. To me, it is a challenge to PDP in a certain part of the State. But again, the sentiment used in 2019 in some parts of the State is not the same sentiment used today. There are efforts to use the same sentiment by the ruling party. But, the rejection by the people is very obvious. So, there is dynamism in politics. Things are really changing.”

“For us in the PDP where we have concerns, we have been engaging with people and we are progressing pretty well. I am very confident that we will win the 2023 elections in the State, and Nigeria. Well, I can say that we don’t have resources, but the ones we spend is our personal resources.”

“The party in power use public resources. But, people are now wise. Up till 2015, the PDP was in power , with over 20 States under its control no matter the resources then, the opposition party took over the government. People made up their minds. And I believe, this time around the people have made up their minds because they are not satisfied with the APC government. So, no matter the amount of money they would spend, people are going to take their money and vote against them.”

“You can also see that our party today in Kaduna has absolute acceptability by the people everywhere. The issue now is, let the election be free and fair. Some people think that with the BVAS the election cannot be manipulated. It can. And, I believe those in authority know it can. So, let us safeguard the electoral materials and equipment to make sure that unpatriotic elements in our country don’t subvert democracy.”

“Let’s assume that G-5 governors is the problem at the moment which is open to the public. They don’t know the problem of APC because it is not known to the public. If we have a number of governors who feel dissatisfied, how many governors do we have on the other side that are dissatisfied and people don’t know? So politics is not about what you see, you should be more worried about what you don’t see. I am more comfortable and confident that PDP will win this election on the first ballot, God willing. I am confident we can do that.”

“PDP has been running a team campaign, and of course, until APC through its desperation went too personal. There may have been issues to do with the APC candidate in the media, and social media. But not propelled by PDP. But by other players in the society. Of all the recent happenings, you have to look at who started it. But then no matter who started it, campaigns should be issue based.

We should come back for the sake of the country and continue to campaign on issues that matter to the people. Not limited to only PDP and APC, but all the parties.”

“If you look at the parties and their structures, and issues, the PDP remains the issue-based Nigerian party because it is not based on any ethnic or religious drive. PDP is a rainbow of people and ideas. It is equity-based. Whether you like it or not, the whole principle of APC Muslim Muslim ticket was to divide Nigerians along that line, in their calculation, to religious sentiment since there are no tangible achievements they can point out.”

“So let them play out religious sentiment so that they can retain power. In reaction to that, it may not have started that way, it should have even started on the basis of some laudable objectives, but then what is happening, again religious sentiment crop up it. And that is the truth. So you see two political parties whose foundation is bearing for it; religion and ethnicity. And to divide Nigeria along that line will be the most dangerous decision Nigerians will ever make. The PDP is not in that category of a political party right from inception and till now.”

“So PDP is the only party that you can say is for everybody irrespective of your religious, ethnic and socioeconomic status, whatever. And it is a direction we should all go. And we should try as much as possible to avoid a run-off election because it could be far more of a deficit,” he said.

KADUNA 2023:Only PDP, Ashiru Will Rescue Kaduna State From APC's Clueless, Wicked, Heartless Administration- *Isa Rabi'u*

January 7, 2023

Isa Rabi'u , member Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kaduna State chapter, speaks , on state issues, including the party’s determined bid to reclaim power, just as he reviews the performance of the governor Nasir Hell-rufai administration in the last seven years.

We are all kadalites and we are all eyewitnesses to what has happened in the state in the last seven years. An average educated kadalites can critically give a comparative analysis for the former administration, which is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and this Hell-rufai's administration, which is of the APC. Personally, I don’t expect anything contrary from the APC from the beginning rather than bringing hardship in the state. But as far as the PDP is concerned and my humble self as the member of the great party in Kaduna State, the APC administration has recorded an abysmal failure in every facet, especially when you consider all the key indices of development.

I believe you know all these things too. You know  what the rate of poverty now. I am sure you also know the level of insecurity now, not to talk of the rate of killing pervading Kaduna state. So, tell me, what have they done? Unfortunately, I heard one of the APC's chieftain that is the APC gubernatorial aspirant Sen Uba sani Said Hell-rufai has done his best. But the fact remains that Hell-rufai's best is not enough for this state. It is as simple as that.

I will just commend kadalites on the sacrifices that they have made so far in contending with the hardships from the present APC government. And I want to assure them that the PDP, which is the largest in Africa, will definitely rescue kadalites and Nigerian at large from this incompetent government.

I am very sure that kadalites are very logical people, both the ones that are educated and the uneducated ones, who have native intelligence. They can compare things, because it hasn’t been as worse as it is now for the state. It is what you know. Kadalites are undoubtedly yearning for a change. And we are going to offer that alternative government to them. That is why the slogan of this great party is that we are coming to rescue the state from the hands of family and friends government and the people once again. And by the special grace of Almighty God, the PDP will come onboard to rule this state once again with human sympathy and feelings in 2023 by winning with a landslide victory and rescuing kadalites from the clueless, wicked and heartless APC government.

I have due respect for Rt Hon Isa Ashiru kudan , because he is one of the brilliant sons of this state.Sure rescuing Kaduna from him and PDP will be Box to Box clean job hopefully by God willing in 2023,Isa Rabi'u said!

2023: Makarfi drums support for Atiku, Ashiru

November 30, 2022

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, former governor of Kaduna state, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, has urged the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to unite and chase out bad governance brought by the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking when he accompanied the Kaduna state PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Isah Ashiru, to a meeting with Christian clergymen under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Muslim Ummah and the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), the former Caretaker Chairman of PDP, said any party that does not respect Nigerian diversities particularly religious differences must not be allowed to rule the country or state.

Sen. Makarfi, while canvassing support for the PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Ashiru, urged electorates not to allow themselves to be deceived under the guise of religion to make a wrong choice.

He said, “You will never find Ashiru lacking in terms of equity and fairness, hence he deserves our support to reposition the state from it’s present polarized state. There is so much frustration in the land, so we must get it right on the first ballot, deceit was used in the past but cannot work again in 2023 but opposition must come together to chase out bad government.

“APC strategy is to divide people on various grounds and now religion is being used but we must not fall for it because in a divided society you need to bring people together.”

He tasked the guber hopeful when he get elected on the restoration of teaching of religious studies in schools for the purpose of restoring morality and proper upbringing of children.

Makarfi reminded Christian and Muslims alike on all the efforts he put in place while in office as PDP governor to unify the citizens of the state on all fronts, but alleged that “the state has never been polarised on religious grounds like it is today.”

The opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said the apology offered by the governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, will not revert the hardship and pain he inflicted on the people of the state.

The party called on Kaduna people to vote out the APC and El-Rufai’s anointed candidate in next year’s election.

Recall that Governor Nasir El-Rufai had last week begged the electorate in the state not to punish the APC governorship candidate, Senator Uba Sani, for his mistakes claiming that Uba was more generous than him.

He then pleaded for forgiveness from those he might have offended as governor.

But the Kaduna State PDP Campaign Director, Malam Haruna Sa’eed, in a statement yesterday said, “The apology came without restitution which smacks of only a cosmetic act without substance.

“On the surface, this apology might look noble, but since El-Rufai has probably not heard of the wisdom of Benjamin Franklin, who admonished people not to ruin an apology with an excuse, this apology, apart from being made in a political gathering to suit itching ears, is bereft of honesty and sincerity.

“In addition to the fact that an apology followed by an excuse means that the same deliberate act could be repeated, it came at a time when it lacked substance and was offensive in context.”

PDP Cautions CJN Over Comments on Party's Internal Affairs.
...Says Dabbling Into Politics Unacceptable

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expresses concern over comments credited to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, wherein he was reported to have dabbled into the internal affairs of the PDP.

While the PDP has utmost respect for the Institution of the Judiciary and Judicial Officers, our Party rejects any action or utterance by any Judicial Officer, let alone the CJN, that undermines the integrity of the Judiciary.

By delving into the internal affairs of the PDP at a public event in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday, November 24, 2022 where he was reported to have made reference to the political activities of some PDP governors, which comment is viewed to be encouraging division in our Party, the PDP posits that the CJN’s action is unacceptable and inconsistent with his status as the head of the Judicial arm of government.

Our Party is worried that such partisan comment by the CJN is in violation of his Oath of Office as the head of the country's Judicial arm which is expected to be impartial and non-partisan.

Irrespective of the circumstance or situation, the CJN is expected to be circumspect at all times and avoid partisan actions and utterances that are likely to erode the institutional integrity of the Judiciary and bring it to disrepute especially as the nation prepares for the 2023 general elections.

In a Federal Republic such as Nigeria, with a Constitutional Separation of Powers, the Judiciary is entrusted with the responsibility of interpretation of the laws and as such should be seen to be neutral at all times and endeavour to interpret and review the laws in the context of the case and controversy of the parties before it.

Nigerians expect the CJN, with his experience, to be in a position to advice, rebuke and punish members of the Judicial arm who get entangled in the political arena.

The fact that the CJN himself is the one reportedly violating this critical ethic of neutrality, fairness and respect for the Oath of Office for Judicial Officers raises serious concern in our polity.

The question is, how do Nigerians and especially the PDP trust that the CJN will be an even-handed arbiter in any case or matter relating to internal issues in our Party or those connected to other political parties?

It is instructive to note that the test for a Judge to recuse himself from a matter is the “likelihood of bias” and the CJN is expected to be mindful of that test in his public engagements.

The inauguration of the Kaduna State Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Campaign Management Council and Campaign Advisory Committee of our great party which took place on Monday 4th November 2022 will go down as one of the most memorable events geared towards the 2023 General Elections.

Our resolve for the execution of an all-inclusive campaign was further re-enforced by the number and compositions of the organs of the campaign structure that have been constituted. They are organs that comprise well-respected, highly-experienced and committed party men and women.

Having come this far, it has become most imperative for us to put a lot more effort towards the restoration of the PDP to power at all levels. We must devote every moment in our lives to the proper implementation of all campaign strategies so that our collective goal of putting our great party back to power can be achieved.

I therefore urge the newly inaugurated council to immediately commence the propagation of the PDP's message so that our Rescue Mission can be irreversibly accomplished in Kaduna State in particular and Nigeria in general.

I sincerely congratulate and wish us success during the elections.

He spoke in Abuja on Monday after the inauguration of the state’s Campaign Council ticket for Rt Isa Ashiru kudan and Dr John Ayuba in Kaduna.

Isa urged the council to embark on vigorous campaigns across all the angles of the state to promote all the candidates of the party.

According to him, kadalites were overwhelmed by the numerous challenges confronting the state and the ruling party lacked solutions to the problems.

“We all understand as kadalites that we are facing challenges, and they are of such magnitude that the state is haemorrhaging under the current evil APC leadership.”

“To get out of the woods, we have to come up with the best and the best right now are are PDP candidates across the state and national level.

“It is important and critical that we get our people to understand the importance of doing the right thing by voting APC out of offices in the coming general elections because if we make another mistake it will be the terrible for the people of Kaduna state.
