The President of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Mallam Mukhtar Sirajo has insisted that “Many critics aren’t necessarily enemies or even opponents; they just see things from different perspectives.

So nothing wrong with working with or for a govt one has criticised. It only enables the govt benefit from other perspectives and the critic the opportunity to experience governance from within.

Following the disqualification of Aliyu Jafar by the Kaduna State House of Assembly for criticizing governor Elrufai’s unfavorable policies on his social media handle, Mallam Sirajo described the disqualification as uncalled for.

“And who says you must agree on everything beforehand working together? One last one; wasn’t Gov El-rufai himself, at some point a strident critic of Buhari? Is the story today, not different? Mallam Sirajo stressed.

Kaduna: PDP heads to Appeal Court, as Tribunal declines testimony

Jul 4, 2019

Kaduna – The Kaduna State Governorship Petitions Tribunal on Thursday stopped a forensic expert summoned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from testifying before it due to the expiration of the 14-day timeline given to it, to present witnesses.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Ibrahim Bako, ruled that the witness had lost the right to testify since the 14 days given to the petitioners had lapsed.

The witness was called by the petitioners to give expert evidence against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the documents used during the March 9 Governorship poll in the state.

The expert brought by the PDP and its governorship candidate, Alhaji Isah Ashiru had faced objections by counsel to INEC, Gov. Nasir el-Rufai and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The counsel in their separate arguments told the tribunal that they were only served with the witness’ statement shortly before the session began.

They said they needed time to read the statement to prepare for cross examination and applied that the witness be halted from testifying.

Their objection was, however, rejected by counsel to PDP, Dr Paul Ananaba, who said that the had informed the court of plans to subpoena forensic experts.

Justice Bako, however, held that the witness lost the right to give his testimony because the petitioners failed to present the statement within the stipulated time frame.

Abdulhakeem Mustapha (SAN) Counsel to Gov. El-Rufai told newsmen that the tribunal gave 14 days to the petitioners to present their witnesses.

“They told the court that they were going to subpoena a lot of witnesses; they didn’t do that until this morning when the court was sitting when they served us with a witness statement.

“We objected to it and told the court that in the spirit of fair hearing, that was overreaching, because we were supposed to have two days to study the witness’ statement and prepare for cross examination.

“And the court agree with us that they were not diligent in prosecuting their case and the court overruled the witness from testifying, “Mustapha said.

He added:”We are ready to open our defense.

“The starting point is that the petitioners told the court that it had 655 witnesses to present within the 14 days given to them by the court, but they were only able to call 135 witnesses and they have closed their case to call witnesses.

“And as respondents we have subjected their witnesses to serious cross examination to test the veracity of their testimonies.

“What I can tell you is that respondents would present evidence both oral and documentary to show that the election was won by Malam Nasir El-Rufai,“he said.

The counsel to the petitioners, Elisha Kurah, (SAN) told journalists that the decision of the tribunal to stop their witness from testifying would be challenged at the Court of Appeal.

“So far we called 135 witnesses and the witnesses covered most of the areas where malpractices took place.

“The forensic expert came and the court said they would not take him.

“We still believe that it was not a decision that was rightly taken. We are going to appeal the decision of the tribunal,“ Kurah said.

The Justice Bako-led Tribunal had adjourned sitting to July 15 to take witnesses from El-Rufai, APC and INEC who are 1st, 2nd and 3rd respondents in the petition respectively.

The election tribunal sitting at the State High Court in Kaduna State will soon decide on whether it will grant a recount of votes for the senatorial, gubernatorial and presidential elections, News understands.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party and the gubernatorial candidate had prayed the courts for a recount of the votes following alleged manipulations of results by the ruling APC.

An informant indicated that the state Governor Nasiru El Rufai may be aware of the likelihood of the unfolding ruling, and as a result, have become tensed, adding that he (el-rufai) made frantic efforts to reach out to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) INEC electoral officers.

According to sources all attempts to ‘reach out’ to the INEC officers failed to yield expected results.

reports states that a top source at the INEC revealed that “the way the PDP is positioning itself through the court and the facts including witnesses presented at the court, there are strong indications the el-Rufai administration is already on its way out of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House”.

Meanwhile, at the Election Tribunal sitting at the State High Court, Lawal Adamu, popularly known as Mr. LA who contested for the Kaduna Central Senatorial seat under the PDP may be declared winner against Uba Sani of the APC who is an ally of Gov el-Rufai.

The Justice Hussein-led five-man panel in the appeal, while adjourning the matter to July 3, said it was sequel to the complain by the second respondent in the appeal.

The second respondent, Gov. Nasiru El-Rufai told the Appeal Court that he was only served with the notice of the appeal on Wednesday, June 26.

Ibrahim Bawa (SAN) who represented the 1st respondent, the All Progressives Congress (APC), told newsmen shortly after the adjournment that El-Rufai sought for the adjournment to allow him file his response.

“The appeal by the PDP and Isah Ashiru came up this morning with respect to the interlocutory appeal.
“The parties were represented by counsel in court.

“It was believed the Governor, who is a party in the appeal, has been served before now, but counsel to the Governor informed the court that he was served just yesterday, Wednesday.

“To give him benefit of the doubt and to ensure that all processes are in, the court allowed them to file their reply to the Appeals.

The matter was adjourned to July 3rd,” Bawa said.
Also, Mr Dike Udenna, Counsel to the Appellant said: ”

the matter came up this morning for hearing of the petitioners’ appeal for recounts of ballot papers used for the governorship elections in Kaduna State.

” Unfortunately, the lawyers to the second respondents (El-Rufai) told the court that he became aware of the Appeal yesterday, Wednesday.

“Even though the records of the court shows that he has been served since 21st June, 2019.

“For the benefit of the doubt, the court adjourned till 3rd July to allow the party file his reply.
“I believe that the Appeal Court being the superior court of record will do justice to the matter.”

The state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had on May 28, struck out the petitioners’ motion seeking for recount of votes cast in the governorship elections in the state, for lack of merit.

Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Ibrahim Bako, who ruled on the motion, said the tribunal had a timeline of only 180 days within which to complete its assignment.

Bako had said that the Tribunal would not accommodate the motion seeking for the recount of votes.

He had also refused the application for amendment of the motion seeking to narrow the votes recount exercise to only 12 local government areas.

The PDP and Ashiru had asked the Tribunal to order for a vote recount in 12 LGs mostly won by the APC.

The pettitioners had asked that votes for Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Zaria, Sabon Gari, Makarfi, Kudan, Kubau, Soba and Ikara local government areas be recounted.

The petitioners, dissatisfied with the ruling, headed to the Appeal Court to challenge the position of the Tribunal.

- The Kaduna Court of Appeal will on Thursday, June 27 hear the PDP’s appeal seeking for votes recount in the March 9 governorship election in the state

- The governorship election tribunal had said it would not accommodate the motion seeking for the recount of votes

- The PDP says it would put a strong submission for the appeal to scale through

The Court of Appeal in Kaduna has fixed Thursday, June 27 to hear the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking for votes recount in the March 9 governorship election in Kaduna state.

Elisha Kurah (SAN), lead counsel to the PDP and its governorship candidate, Isa Ashiru, made the disclosure on Thursday, June 20 shortly after the sitting of the governorship election tribunal in Kaduna.

Legit.ng notes that the tribunal had on May 28, struck out the petitioners’ motion seeking for recount of votes cast in the governorship elections in the state, for lack of merit.

The PDP and Ashiru had on May 25, applied to amend the motion to restrict vote recounts to only Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Zaria, Sabon Gari, Makarfi, Kudan, Kubau, Soba and Ikara local government areas, mostly won by the APC.

However, Kurah said the petitioners’ appeal would be coming up for hearing on Thursday, June 27 at the Federal Court of Appeal.

The counsel said that the petitioners would put a strong submission for the appeal to scale through.

On the ongoing trial before the tribunal, Kurah said the petitioners would prune their witnesses from the 685 they earlier assembled as the 47 witnesses they had so far presented before the tribunal had covered most of the issues they had raised in their petition.

The Justice Ibrahim Bako-led tribunal had admitted 15 witnesses on Thursday, apart from the 32 who testified on Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19.

The witnesses were mostly PDP agents and returning officers from Zaria and Kaduna North LGs who accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of failure to conduct elections in those areas.

The tribunal adjourned to Friday, June 21 to take more witnesses from the petitioners and also rule on the application for adjournment to enable the team of counsel get some rest.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that Isah Ashiru, the governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2019 election in Kaduna state, on Wednesday, May 15, demanded a recount of the votes cast during the exercise.

Ashiru, who was defeated by Nasir El-Rufai, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this demand in an application he filed.

Elisha Kurah, the counsel to Ashiru, submitted the application to the Justice I M Bako-led tribunal that commenced pre-hearing sessions in Kaduna.

Most results declared were phantom votes, PDP, Ashiru say, seek recount of Kaduna Gov ballot

May 14, 2019

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections in Kaduna State, Isah Ashiru, on Tuesday filed an application seeking a recount of the votes cast during the March 9 poll.

The governorship candidate and his party alleged that most of the results declared after the election were phantom votes , hence the call for votes ’ recount .

Ashiru ’ s counsel , Elisha Kurah (SAN) , submitted the application to the Justice I. M . Bako- led tribunal that commenced pre - hearing session on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Justice Bako, however , adjourned the session till May 25 to allow the Independent National Electoral Commission and two other respondents in the petition time to respond to the PDP ’ s application on votes ’ recount .

Kurah, who spoke to journalists shortly after adjournment of the session , urged the Tribunal to order INEC for the recount of the votes cast during the governorship election .

We filed an application requesting to recount the votes cast during the election .

It is very crucial, as we are alleging , which is supported by the evidence we have that most of the results declared were phantom votes .

So , we want a complete recount of the votes cast in the governorship election .

We are expecting that the results would show that the PDP actually won the election .

But votes were just inflicted randomly just to make the APC have the semblance of winning ,Kurah said .

Counsel to PDP , Ibrahim Bawa (SAN) , told newsmen that he also filed application seeking that certain paragraphs of the respondents responses to his client’s application be struck out for lack of merit.

Meanwhile , Abdulhakeem Mustapha, counsel to Governor Nasir El - Rufai , in a separate interview with newsmen said the petitioners of the PDP and its candidate , Isa Ashiru , have four highly contentious applications .

And we intend to oppose the applications on their merit. And the tribunal has given us a new date for us to come and argue the applications .

So , the matter is adjourned for hearing of all the pending applications .

We have a preliminary objection that the petition is not competent.

They (PDP and Ashiru ) have an application that they want the tribunal to direct that the ballots be counted one after the other in open court, and we intend to oppose those applications .

Mustapha added : The Electoral Act is in our favour ; the Kaduna people have spoken, they picked Malam El -Rufai and nothing is going to change that .

We are here to defend the mandate the people have given to the governor .

We intend to convince the tribunal that the petition lacks merit and it should be dismissed .

Commenting, Zaria Divisional Police Officer, Ahmed Yusuf told Okada riders that “The Police have commenced an investigation and as soon as our report is ready, we shall communicate to you, therefore, I am pleading with you to be law abiding’’.

Leader of the Youth Support Advocates for PDP (YSAP), in Kaduna state, Comrade Isah Rabiu has stated that there is no doubt the results for the just concluded gubernatorial elections in Kaduna were manipulated to favor the rulling APC and confident the his party the PDP will reclaim her mandate at the tribunal.

“I am confident of PDP victory at the tribunal, because there are strong evidence on ground that which reveals the results were manipulated at the collation centres in favor of the APC candidate.

“The world knows that PDP won squarely.
I surely believed results collated from the fields in all local government showed that Isah Ashiru kudan won, but election results were manipulated, cancelled in the places where PDP won.

“This is unacceptable to us, we have all the evidence and I want to assure my members, PDP youths that participated and our party faithful that Isah Ashiru kudan will reclaim his mandate at the tribunal.

The leadership of APC in the state was not prepared for elections from the bigining but instead depended on federal might to muscle their way into power.

PDP DESCRIBES KILLINGS IN KADUNA AS AVOIDABLE

YSAP Media_Newslines: 21/3/19

The Peoples’ Democratic Party,PDP, Kaduna State Chapter, has described the recent killings in Kajuru,Birnin Gwari and Sanga as avoidable.

The statement also condemned the disappearance of the State Governor,Nasir Elrufai and his Deputy,Arch. Barnabas Bala Bantex, without any public notice, in the middle of this crisis. The State is operating in an Auto Pilot mode. This is the height of irresponsility!

“The killings would have been averted if the Federal and State Governments have been up and doing and had fully engaged the Security agencies with the needed proactive measures and equipments to fight insecurity”.

The statement was released to newsman through the Party’s Publicity Secretary of the State, Abraham A. Catoh. The PDP observed that the lack of jobs, illiteracy and poverty of our citizens is the greatest danger facing our society today.

“There is no Human Capital Development, and illiteracy amongst our citizens has eaten deep into our citizens, and the lack of education has made our peoples vulnerable”.

The statement further condemned the APC led government for lack of delebrate policies that would engage our Women and youths in meaningful ventures to make them productive and useful to our corporate existence, and also galvanize our economy as a Nation.

“We have also observed that the government has intentionally pauparised our citizens through their harsh policies, without any cushion effects(palliatives) to ameliorate their sufferings”.

“The effect of these harsh programmes, without any hope insight, has dissullusioned our youths and made them vulnerable to crimes just to survive the hardship; an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”.

“Apart from the APC’s usual propaganda, there is nothing they have achieved in the last 3 years plus of her administration”.

“In terms of Security of lives and property, Nigerians are worse than they use to be before 2015. Kidnappings and banditry has become the order of the day, aside terrorists activities. Corruption has grown to a more advanced level under the APC’s watch”.

“The so called N~Power has turned our youths into casual staff that would be disengaged after 2 years, instead of giving them permanent and pensionable employment, as against International Labour Organization charter, of which Nigeria is a signatory”.

Millions of jobs have been lost due to the bad economic policies of the APC led government.

All these and more, has made Nigerians hopeless, especially with the high wired electoral fraud perpetrated by the APC in the recently yet to be concluded 2019 general elections, with the support of the Independent Electoral Commission,INEC, and the Nigeria Army, who the APC government have converted into political thugs.

“Where the PDP is leading, results are declared inconclusive or the NA is sent to intimidate, harass and forcefully take away ballot boxes and other sensitive voting materials”.

The PDP commiserates with the families of those who lost their lives in the wanton killings and pray for the repose of their souls and also wish the injured quick recovery.

Finally, we wish to thank our teeming supporters for their immense support before, during and after the 2019 general elections.

We urge you all to remain calm and law abiding as the Party will do every thing within the ambit of the law at the Elections Tribunal to retrieve back the mandate given to us, by God’s grace.

-I see no reason why people of kaduna, particularly SK, will today accuse MKF of sell out... They say he is selfish but they forgot that he rejected the APC's offer for CBN governor, campagned side to side from begining to end of Ashiru/Katung campaign rallys, was number1 in financial contribution in kaduna.. Of all the richest men who made financial promises, they failed to keep up and we know them. Instead, they relax in abj while mkf rallys the entire state.

Also, talking about mkf betrayed pdp or sk in 2007 and now again... If these guys have nothing to accuse the ex governor of, then they should keep silent. No one betrayed sk in 2007 but their own leaders -those who are in the know of exactly what happened are not talking.

My point is: it is unfair to accuse someone who always gave you a common sense of belonging, built 75% of your modern roads, 90% of electrifications for Sk.

He is not a desperate politician, he played his part cos he can only force people to the water but cannot force them to drink... The religious card worked for apc in zone 1 and 2 but u really dont have the population to beat that.

Don’t pity El-Rufai, vote him out – Shi’ite tells members

7,march 2019

The Islamic Movement In Nigeria, IMN, known as Shi’ites has called on its members to come out en masse and vote out governor Nasir el-Rufai in the gubernatorial polls billed for March 9.

A member of the Resource Forum, IMN, Mohammed Ibrahim Gamawa, in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday instructed members to neglect calls by Sheikh Saleh Zaria that Shi’ites should support el-Rufai.

In a reaction to reports that Sheikh Zaria has endorsed Governor El-Rufai, he said, “Sheikh Saleh Zaria is not a member of IMN, hence, what he said cannot have effect on our members.”

The statement said, “it would be suicidal for the group, whose revered leader, Sheikh iBraheem Zakzaky was being held in custody in spite of court rulings that he should be freed to be supporting a ‘tyrannical’ government.”

“Our fathers, husbands, wives, mothers and children were brutally murdered in 2015 and several are still missing, with others in prison custody as a result of disposition of this tyrannical government,” he explained.

He appealed to members of the group to make it a point of duty and service to not only come out, but also influence other members and non members to vote out governor el-Rufai.

“The hours and minutes are ticking and the day of reckoning draws nearer. Let us use our democratic rights in sending governor el-Rufai packing. Do not pity him the way he did not pity your mothers, fathers, husbands, wives and children. Let your anger against him be displayed by the number of votes against him by the time the result is announced,” he charged.

He told the Shi’ite members that the time to liberate themselves, families, state and humanity was at hand.

Ashiru Will Bring About Peace, Unity and Justice -Makarfi

Saturday, 2nd March 2019.

Former Kaduna state governor and immediate past national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi has described the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Kaduna state as one whos administration will bring about peace, progress and justice if elected.

“I humbly request all party men and women not to relent, following the outcome of the just concluded presidential polls… I urge all citizens of Kaduna to vote a candidate that means well for the people come 9th March, 2019.

“A vote for Isah Ashiru is a vote for peace, progress, justice and stability irrespective of religion, ethnicity and background- And less we forget, during the buildup to 2015 presidential elections, the APC dismissed a muslim/muslim ticket of Buhari-Tinubu because the leaders of the party understood the effects of that in a country as complex as Nigeria; Makarfi said.

“We must be able to vote for a candidate who will make life easier and better… We we fall into the trap of someone or some people dividing us along religious lines, then we bring continious conflicts, unrest and infact, the peace and unity that we have tried to build in the past years will be lost. Makarfi added.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, for Kaduna State in the March 9, 2019 polls, Isa Ashiru, says the Northern Senatorial District would improve on the Party’s dismal outing in the Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Ashiru spoke at a meeting with some 1,000 members of Youth and Women Support Groups at the Arewa House, Kaduna, ahead of the March 9 rescheduled Governorship and State Assembly elections.

The PDP Candidate had lost Kudan, his local government area, to the ruling APC in the just concluded Feb.23 Presidential and National Assembly polls.

The All Progressives Party (APC) had won with a wide margin of 30, 577 votes against the PDP that scored 11,692 votes during the polls.

Sen Ahmed Makarfi, former National Chairman of the PDP also lost Makarfi Local government are to the APC in the Presidentail polls, where the ruling party scored 36,624 votes, while PDP got 14,494 votes.

The APC had won the Senate Seat and all the six House Representatives Seats in the Zone.

The APC Candidate and former Commissioner for Finance in the State, Suleiman Abdu defeated Suleiman Hunkuyi of the PDP with 411,498 votes against 181,955 votes.

The APC won all the six House of Representatives Seats in the Kaduna Northern Zone which include; Kudan/Makarfi, Zaria, Sabon Gari, Soba, Lere, Ikara/Kubau during the polls.

Hower, even with the heavy loss at the poll, the Governorship candidate said the zone would collaborate with the Kaduna South Senatorial zone to defeat the Gov Nasiru El-Rufai in the March 9 polls.

According to him, “the North Senatorial will not disappoint their Southern Kaduna counterparts in delivering bloc votes for the party during the March 9 gubernatorial polls.

“We have disappointed our brothers and sisters from Zone 3, it was not deliberate, we discovered issues and we have taken measures to address the issue.

“We are doing whatever is humanly possible to deliver our zone during the Govership and State Assembly elections.

“By the special grace of God, we will edge them out on march 9 by doubling our efforts,“ he said.

On why the PDP lost the zone, Ashiru said “the conduct of the presidential and National Assembly polls, at the initial stage was free fair and credible but along the line things changed”.

The PDP won the senate seat and all the House of Representatives seats in the Southern Senatorial District of the state.

IMPLICATION OF ELRUFAI RETURNING AS GOVERNOR IN KADUNA

By: David Ayuba Azzaman

Feb 28,2019

In 2011 when Late Patrick Yakowa contested for the governorship of KADUNA state under the People’s Democracy Party PDP . All southern KADUNA sons and daughters all over the world who registered to vote came back home to vote. At least if I don’t know anybody I knew a lady from Kagarko LGA who came all the way from England just to vote for PATRICK Ibrahim Yakowa. It is no surprised all the bulk votes of Southern KADUNA Senatorial Zone about 900,000 votes went to Late Patrick Yakowa who at the end of the election got far above 1.4m votes and he won. Don’t forget we have Southern KADUNA people in Lere in the Northern Senatorial Zone and Chikun, Kajuru and Birnin Gwari in the Central Senatorial Zone. In 2011 Southern KADUNA we are not under any threat even if we are it’s minimal but we were able to mobilise ourselves , unite and give one person our bulk votes.

In 2015 many of us refused to vote because we felt nothing is at stake. We refused to rally round Polycarp Gankon the candidate of APGA and those of us that voted shared our votes between Ramallan Yero PDP and Nasir Elrufai APC and our votes became very insignificant compared to other election years 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 when our votes determined who became the governor of KADUNA state.

In 2019 we are being faced with a strange policy of Muslim Muslim ticket introduced by the incumbent governor who doesn’t hide his hatred for Christianity He says it, he acts it and he implements it. The implications of his policies if achieved will mean that Governors after Nasiru Elrufai will follow suit. A time will also come when they will out rightly tell us we don’t have David Ayuba Azzaman in Kaduna State. At that time our children even though Christians have to adopt names like Muhammad, Jamilu or Abubakar just like what the Hausa Christians are going through in Katsina, Kano, Jigawa and Zamfara states etc. And I believe you know what that means. Therefore if we don’t want our Children and Grand Children generation to say their father’s and Grand father’s generation are a useless generation we better wake up now. And it’s no anytime but this 2019 election ; it’s very crucial. If you have not made up your mind as a Christian in Kaduna State not only Southern Kaduna you better do. We have close to 600,000 non indigenous people of Kaduna State and are Majority Christians in Kaduna this clarion call is also for you.

I will call on all Southern Kaduna sons and daughters and non indigenes of Kaduna to take this 2019 elections more serious than 2011. Even if you live in Jupiter not only America come back home to vote for the sake of our Children and even those yet to be born. Our action and inaction will affect us positively or negatively for a very long time if we don’t come all out and vote. Negative Government policies can have a very long lasting effect if not challenged. Please let’s all come out and challenge this by our votes.

I noticed Ashiru Kudan is popular amongst us. I will advise the stake holders in Southern Kaduna and Christian leaders in Kaduna to seat with him put it in pen and paper if possible with legal backing. Ask him some of the negative policies of Elrufai against Southern Kaduna and Christians such as the changing of nomenclature of our traditional institutions , the religious bill though yet to be implemented; the sacking of our traditional rulers and district heads etc will he reverse them. Will he compensate the victims of Fulani herdsmen killings, will he revisit the issue of sacked workers in the state? These are some questions out of many demands we should put down for him. We should not be just after who becomes his Campaign Director this or that. This is the time we start negotiating not after the victory is achieved.

As I said before and I say it now again; I will never vote anybody who instead of bringing development to me and my people will bring us deaths and destruction. I just pray if Ashiru Kudan wins he will have the heart of Dankwambo of Gombe. A detribalised Governor who sees both Christians and Muslims as his own. I was in Gombe and I saw it ; not like this wicked Pharaoh in Kaduna right now.

We shall celebrate victory of freedom over tyranny.

2019! Atiku Host PDP Stakeholder's Meeting In Kaduna

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday in Kaduna reiterated his plan to privatise the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC), if elected president on Feb 23.

Abubakar spoke at a town hall meeting with ward, local government and state party leaders in the state at the Kaduna Trade Fair Complex.

He said that the NNPC had failed to serve the purpose for which it was established in 1977.

According to him, selling-off the Corporation and all the three refineries is the best option for the country, likening it to the sale of Nigerian Telecommunication Limited (NITEL).

Abubakar said Nigeria is among the biggest producers of crude, but lamented that the country still imports refined products for local consumption at exorbitant prices to the detriment of the common man.

He said, if elected President, he would deregulate the NNPC and sell it to Nigerians. the way Obasanjo sold NITEL.

However, he forgot to mention that the sale of NITEL was disastrously done.

Under Obasanjo, NITEL went through several botched sales and management turnaround contracts.

First, 51 per cent of the shares was sold to a group of investors under the trading name of Investors International London limited.

The sale was cancelled after the investors failed to pay. Then in 2003, , the government approved a management turnaround contract with a firm called Pentascope. The contract was cancelled in 2005 after it became clear Pentascope did not have the adequate resources to run NITEL. In 2005, government again offered NITEL to Orascom. This failed again, leading the government to sell it to a subsidiary of Transcorp in 2007. The sale was revoked in 2009. In 2014, the firm was sold to NATCOM, a group of investors led by Tunde Ayeni. Ayeni since then has been running it as NTEL.

Abubakar, also former Vice president, urged the people of Kaduna state to massively vote for the PDP, promising to allocate 40 per cent appointments to the youth to address the rising unemployment and restiveness.

He said that, his government if elected, would make education a priority by providing scholarships to all deserving youth and women in the country.

Abubakar also promised to allocate 30 per cent of appointments to women, adding that, he would provide adequate funds through the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency to empower women and the youth.
He said that his leadership would address, what he described as alarming insecurity, with killings of innocent Nigerians across all the geopolitical regions.

Abubakar appealed to the electorate to vote the PDP into political offices in the state for the betterment of the people.

He said he would allocate more resources to the states and local government areas for faster development across the country.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, urged the Kaduna State Party leaders to work tirelessly to ensure the success of the party at the Feb 23 and March 9 general elections.

The Governorship candidate of the party, Isah Ashiru said the party would bring development at all levels to the state, if voted into power.

Ashiru said his administration would reduce poverty to the minimum and create employment opportunities for the youth and women as well as persons with disabilities.

Ashiru appealed to the people to come out en masse and vote for the party and ensure their votes count.
He, however, urged the youth against violence during and after the polls.

The chairman of the party in the state , Mr Felix Hassan Hyat spoke in the same vein.

Former Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, former National chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, former governors Ramalan Yero of Kaduna and Ibrahim Shema of Katsina were among top party leaders that attended the event.

Elrufai’s Bad Governance, Behind Increasing Poverty In Kaduna –Isah Rabiu

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna state. Comr Isah rabiu has accused the state governor, Nasir Elrufai of creating room for increased rate of poverty in kaduna state.

Comrade Isa Rabiu said; “The government has contributed grately to the rising poverty in Kaduna state which is due to poor governance and the monotonous economic structure of the state.

“Bad governance, which has manifested through corruption in APC government, is totally responsible for the poor economic performance of the state and country. Haven observed that, the APC government had been unable to translate the huge natural resources at her disposal to the improvement of her citizens’ living standard in Kaduna state because it is fact by the NBS that 69 percent of over 100 Kaduna citizens were living within the poverty bracket; Comrade Isa said.

“Failed leadership, like we are Witnessing in Elrufai led government is of course the fundamental reason for Nigeria’s poor economic performance despite our globally acknowledged economic potentials to have become not just one of the largest economies of the world, but in fact, one of the most prosperous of those countries years back”.

“There is no better saying of the governance failure in our nation than the relatively unchanged structure of the economy of Nigeria since PDP left government… It is the rapid change of the structure of an economy that determines the level of economic growth, development and prosperity that happens and importantly, the change he (Elrufai) promised”. Comr Isah Rabiu added.

*Kada-State: A Story Of Truth And The Struggle For Purpose Against Doom*

-By Dogara Caesar
dogara.ud01@gmail.com

In the words of Louis Farrakhan, “You cannot reform the devil… all the prophets tried and failed, you have to kill the devil”. In this case scenario; what more could a devil do than what has been done to the good people of Kada’ state.

?

Inciting violence, promoting bad behavior, denial of rights and much more in most cases led to uprising and unfortunate murder of innocent citizens and destruction of properties, therefore, allowing the people to live in continuous fear.

It all began when a new administration resumed to take charge of affairs, 29th May, 2015. They came in on a wave of hope and change, they were sworn in on strong institutions, also, were laws in place to maintain immense level of stability, not disputing the fact that there were few challenges already but well managed in the most reasonable ways possible… importantly for social, political and economic balance in terms of power play.

Four years past, the state of Kada has experienced severe plagues in harsh and unacceptable manners. It is undebatable to the fact that the government with a responsibility to protect the citizens is now undoubtedly the number one enemy of the people. How did this happen?

*TRUTH*
The head of the government of Kada state is no doubt a total failure… he has expressed himself over and over again as one who is dangerously biased, a fanatic with no capacity for any form of conflict resolution even as he does what he knows best (Inciting violence). The fact is, he’s got to have an extraordinary explanation for continuously and deliberately causing chaos by all means possible in ways such as encouraging hoodlums to go against political opponents, sponsoring thugs to generate crises and that which caught the eyes of the world was an appearance on national television to proudly claim the responsibility for the payment of several billions of tax payer’s money to some militia at the time of crises in a terrorized area of the state.

The most recent trends are the unfortunate comments made and designed to incite violence in the buildup to the 2019 general elections {Body bags threats and faking the death of 66 people}. Under his administration, propaganda and staged up news has always been an essential weapon in his arsenals especially when he fails to have his way by the ethnic/religious cards as usual. This becomes so unappealing to the people and particularly, the marginalized and oppressed in kada state. For the so called ‘leader’, who cares less to give attention to principles of cause and effects with respect to ethno-religious settings that’s been in place over time, the challenges, and also, considering the timing of events. “The Kada head of government is the founder, peddler and merchant of fake news in Nigeria” (Danjuma Sarki, 16th Feb 2019).

While they are making dangerous political decisions that is catastrophic to the people, the populace is totally committed towards collectively solving ‘problems’ irrespective of religious believes, ethnicity or political affiliation caused by desperate men calling for a bloodbath only to escape judgement day on the ballot. Good news is, the people are united and can’t be manipulated against themselves –He came up with the Muslim/Muslim ticket to try evolve the biased approach, a concept none of his predecessors had the political will’ mainly because of its effects to cordial relationship between the factors as well as peaceful coexistence.

The people, of course will not resort to violence despite the fact that the devil is moving all around trying to kick start a war. This concept is to apply the ideals to practical, political situations… While they come to steal and destroy a great nation by hate speeches, tyranny, training and paying militias to kill, they will always fail for as long as the people understands the common enemy and his tactics.

Now is a time that neither can they kill nor enslave the people because it is clearer even to the blind that the commander in chief of Kada state has an agenda, which is simply to destroy the progress made on peace, security, unity and governance in the past years by previous administrations.

As Zbigniew Brzezinski (former US National Security Adviser) once said, “In earlier times, it was literally easier to control a million people than to physically kill a million people… today, it is infinitely easier to kill a million people than to control a million people”. The message is simple, the devil can’t control the fate of millions when they’ve all decided on one common goal… no matter how hard the scheme is planned to destroy the good that can come to the people with proper governance, they are losing or they will lose, they have set up a trap and are getting caught in their own trap. Kada people are waking up and the world is indeed watching the rise of a revolution that will kill the enemy by kicking them out. it is a revolution that is all too real.
