PRESS STATEMENT. 9th August, 2020. Rt. Hon. Isa Muhammad Ashiru (Sarkin Bai Zazzau) joins well meaning Nigerians in calling on Federal Government and Kaduna State Government in particular to live up to their Cardinal Constitutional Responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens. The wanton destruction of lives and property across the North, and especially Kaduna State is very disturbing. More worrisome is the creeping perception among the people that the government is either unwilling or incapable of ending the spate of killings. This perception MUST not be allowed to deep root. Government must do more to find a quick and lasting solution to the lingering insecurity across the North. The Kaduna State Government should heed to popular appeal and involve ALL stakeholders in the search for lasting peace in Southern Kaduna. On the otherhand, all stakeholders must embrace tolerance, compromise and also assist government to restore peace and stability, without which no meaningful development could be achieved. Signed: Rt. Hon. Isa Muhammad Ashiru. (Sarkin Bai Zazzau) |

7th August 2020 PRESS STATEMENT Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi is disturbed and saddened by news of the resurgence of violence in the southern part of Kaduna State. Senator Makarfi, as always, believes that resort to violence as an expression of grievance, complicates, rather than solve problems. It is his conviction that constructive communication between and among people and communities is the surest recipe to mutual respect and understanding, without which there can be no development. In respect of local issues, he therefore appeals to all to eschew violence and embrace dialogue as a means to a sustainable resolution to whatever problem, however knotty. He also calls on the people to cooperate with the government as it grapples with this and other challenges. Senator Makarfi also calls on the government at both federal and state levels to ensure that the security agencies are adequately mobilised to properly secure the area, in particular, given the suspected infiltration from outside. He also advises the authorities, particularly at the state level to intensify efforts at finding a lasting solution to the problem through the constructive engagement of all stakeholders, such as traditional, religious, community and political leaders. Senator Makarfi conveys most heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as well as the government and people of Kaduna State. He prays to God Almighty to grant eternal rest to the dead and fortitude to bear the losses to the families and all of us. Sgd Mukhtar Zubairu Sirajo

PRESS STATEMENT BY RT. HON. ISA MOHAMMAD ASHIRU ON THE RECENT SPATE OF KILLINGS AND BANDITRY IN KADUNA STATE Our dear nation, and our dear Kaduna State are at a crossroad. The activities of criminals and bandits across the Country and Kaduna State in particular have assumed an unimaginable proportion. In the past one week alone, a sizeable number of people have been gruesomely murdered, maimed or kidnapped across various communities in Chikun, Igabi, Zango Kataf, Kaura, Jema'a, Giwa, B/Gwari and Kajuru Local Government Areas. In the face of this great adversity, we cannot afford to remain silent. The life and property of every Kaduna State citizen matter, and government MUST do all it can to secure both. While we cannot seek to score any political point from the rising incidents of killings, kidnappings and banditry in any part of the state or nation, it is instructive, however, to note that the current approach at tackling the issues by government at both state and federal levels have failed. Thus, President Muhammadu Buhari should heed to wise counsel and rejig the security architecture of the nation without further delay. The current set of service chiefs has done its best, but they must give way for fresh hands and certainly new ideas. Their continued stay is weighing heavily and negatively on the morale of the forces and this is not desirable at this crucial moment. Similarly, the State Government must change gear to demonstrate responsible leadership by showing empathy and giving assurances for the safety of the people, instead of making excuses and inflammatory remarks at this time when courageous leadership is needed. The State Government also needs to not only consult, but work with relevant stakeholders; traditional leaders, CDAs, pressure groups, opinion leaders, in the best interest of the people and the state. Where this continues to be lacking, the people perish. I also call on leaders across political parties to close ranks and work with government to restore peace and the dignity of our people's lives. It may be a daunting task, but surely not impossible. In conclusion, I sincerely commiserate with all victims of violence and banditry in our state and pray that Almighty Allah will heal those injured. I urge everyone to be calm, vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to end the cycle of bloodshed. Remember that eternal vigilance is the price for lasting peace. Above all, let us unite; hold fast and pray that soon, the forces of good shall overcome those of evil. God bless our dear State Kaduna and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |
PDP LAWMAKERS CALL FOR URGENT ACTION AGAINST SOUTHERN KADUNA KILLINGS July 24, 2020 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) minority caucus of the Kaduna State House of Assembly has called on government, security agencies to find an urgent solutions to the spate of attacks, killings and kidnappings in Southern Kaduna, particularly in Chikun, Kajuru, Kaura, Sanga, Kauru and Zangon-Kataf Local Government Areas and Kaduna State as a whole. The lawmakers also indicted the state and federal governments of non-challant attitude towards ensuring that peace reign in Southern Kaduna. The group said government’s style both at the State and Federal in response to the attacks on their communities, has consequently embolden the attackers with the claims that the attacks are reprisals. The lawmakers who disclosed their displeasure over the spate of attacks and killings of their kinsmen during a briefing at the NUJ Secretariat, Kaduna Council, on Friday explained that since the inception of the el-Rufai administration in 2015, Southern Kaduna has not known peace as a result of incessant attacks by armed militia with the resultant consequences of loss of lives and properties. The lawmakers said that the government approach has encouraged the attackers to feel justified to continue with the attacks. Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Emmanuel Bako Kantiok also explained that the justification of the attacks on Southern Kaduna by Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu is uncalled for. While speaking, the lawmaker said, it is evident from the press statement of the President’s media aide that there was no attempt to condemn the attacks on the people of Southern Kaduna or was there any attempt even pretentious to commiserate with the bereaved. He decried the silent and in-action of the Kaduna state government in the recent attacks on Kajuru, Kaura and Zango-Kataf local government area. ” As elected representatives of the people, we are worried that these attacks, massacre and destruction of properties particularly in Southern Kaduna are unabating and we have a responsibility to remind the Government to live up to its responsibilities,” the group said. The Southern Kaduna lawmakers therefore called on both the State and Federal Government to acknowledge that life of Nigerians and that Southern Kaduna matters. While calling on the attackers to stop justifying the attacks on the guise of reprisals, the lawmakers urged the governments to rise to its responsibilities of protecting the lives and properties of the people of Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State and the country at large to avoid a descent to anarchy. According to them, “We the representatives of the people of Southern Kaduna elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are saddened by the spate of attacks, killings and kidnappings in Southern Kaduna, particularly in Chikun, Kajuru, Kaura, Sanga, Kauru and Zangon-Kataf Local Government Areas and Kaduna State as a whole and feel obliged to address you gentlemen of the press. Tt is on record that since the inception of this administration in 2015, Southern Kaduna has not known peace as a result of incessant attacks by armed militia with the resultant consequences of loss of lives and properties. The communities that have suffered this senseless attacks and killings in Southern Kaduna are too numerous to mention and the victims, both living and the dead too numerous to count. 2. Regrettably however, Government style both at the State and Federal levels in response to these attacks have been passive and non-challant, and have consequently embolden the attackers with the usual narrative that the attacks are reprisals but in no way condemning the attacks and the attackers. By the Government approach, the attackers feel justified to continue with the attacks. 3. The latest of this unfortunate justification of these attacks on the people of Southern Kaduna is the press statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity Mallam Garba Shehu where he said that “the problem in Southern Kaduna is an evil combination of politically motivated banditry, revenge killings and mutual violence by criminal gangs acting on ethnic and religious grounds” It is evident from the press statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President that there was no attempt at all to condemn the attacks on the people of Southern Kaduna nor was there any attempt even pretentious to commiserate with the bereaved, injured and those who lost their properties due to no fault of theirs. The silent and in-action of the Kaduna State Government in these recent attacks in Kajuru, Kaura and Zango-Kataf Local Government Areas is more Worrisome. 4. The attitude and response of both the State and the Federal Governments to these attacks and killings clearly speak volumes of the understanding or willingness of Government to discharge its primary responsibility to the people of Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State and the country at large as envisage under Section 14 (2) (b) of our 1999 Constitution (as amended). 5. As elected representatives of the people, we are worried that these attacks, massacre and destruction of properties particularly in Southern Kaduna are unabating and we have a responsibility to remind the Government to live up to its responsibilities. Accordingly, we call on both the State and Federal Government to: (i) acknowledge that the life of every citizen of Nigeria and particularly in Southern Kaduna matters and must be protected to ensure that the people enjoy their God-given right to life; (11) Condemn all attacks and killings no matter their nature or motive and to stop justifying the attacks on the guise of reprisals. Evil in whatever form and shape is evil and must be called by its name; (ii) rise up to its responsibilities of protecting the lives and properties of the people of Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State and the Country at large to avoid a descent to anarchy. We equally call on the people of Southern Kaduna to remain vigilant, calm, law abiding and avoid taking the laws into their own hands. Every citizen has a responsibility to co-operate with the law enforcement agents and to provide information and report any suspected miscreant. Finally, our hearts are with the bereaved families, the injured and those that have lost their properties in all these senseless attacks to the people of Southern Kaduna.

Ashiru to el-Rufai: Involve monarchs in tackling insecurity Jul 21, 2020 Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna state, Alhaji Isa Ashiru, has urged governor Nasir el-Rufai to involve traditional rulers in tackling sectarian crises and banditry in the state. Kaduna state has recently suffered sectarian crises in Zango Kataf, Kaura and Kajuru local government areas leading to the loss of many lives and property worth millions of naira. The state has equally faced various activities of kidnappers and bandits along its major exit routes; Kaduna – Abuja, Kaduna – Birnin Gwari, Kaduna – Zaria and Kaduna – Kachia roads. Chikun, Igabi, Birnin Gwari and Kaduna South LGAs have also been at kidnappers’ mercy. Ashiru, who contested the 2019 general elections against el-Rufai, also advised Kaduna state government to reopen major markets in the state under strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocols and to provide interest free loans to marketers with a two year moratorium, to ease the impact of the lockdown. Speaking during a live interactive session on DITV and Alheri Radio in Kaduna monitored on Sunday night, Ashiru said, “Every government that failed to provide security of lives and property for its people has failed its mandate. Kaduna state government need to adopt the policies of former governor of Kaduna state, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, by involving traditional institution on the matter of security in the state. “I want to advise the Kaduna state government to reopen major markets across the state to ease the economic hardship faced by the marketers during this lockdown. If Friday Mosques and Churches on Sunday were opened, government should also adopt the same method of COVID-19 protocol to reopen major markets in the state. “Some perishable goods had already expired at those markets which are economically lost to the marketers and might even become health hazard if consumed by the people of the state, so it is important to reopen the markets and allow traders continue their trading.” Isa Ashiru however commended Kaduna state government’s efforts and measures in addressing the spread of coronavirus within the state, while appealing to Kaduna state people to continue to observe the protocols given by the health professionals in order to be safe from the pandemic. The PDP chieftain appealed to people of Kaduna state to remain peaceful and law abiding citizens for socio-economic development of the state. Speaking on the spate of insecurity across the North, the former Member Federal House of Representatives attributed the security challenges to the high level of unemployment and poverty. He called on security and relevant stakeholders to adopt a meeting strategy in order to address the insecurity bedeviling the region.

PRESS RELEASE 21/7/2020 Insecurity...The spate of killings across the State is unacceptable! The Kaduna State Chapter of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, has described the wanton maiming and killings of our people as unacceptable. From the mountains of Kaura to the quiet forest of Sanga, towards the thick forest of Birnin Gwari, Giwa,Igabi, Kajuru, Zangon Kataf Local Governments and now Kukum Daji,Kagoro, Kaura and Kauru Local Governments again, gunmen/bandits have been maiming, raping, kidnapping and killing innocent people unabated. Food insecurity is a major threat to our society. Farmers can no longer go to their farms as criminal gangs attack them and also due to high cost of fertilizer and farming implements. Governor Nasir Elrufai is not doing enough to curb the killings of our people, aside lip service on Media platfoms. Kaduna State and indeed, most parts of the country, is at crossroads with no hope insight. The party equally condemned the Governor, for his clandestine rendezvous with the terrorists, years back, where he claimed to have paid them to stop the killings, because no serious Government negotiates with terrorists! It is obvious that they used the money he payed them to acquire more sophisticated weapons to continue with the attacks, unabated. Our soldiers are overwhelmed and are being killed due to obsolete and inadequate arms and ammunition. No wonder, this has resulted in the loss of interest and broken morale by 356 soldiers to the extent of resigning their commission. The world over, primary responsibility of any serious Government is securing the lives and property of its citizens. The APC leadership has failed in this task!. "How can a government that prides itself as that which protects lives and property and "fights corruption" allowed miscreants take over the whole country without any serious resistance"? "This is absurd and unheard of"!. We wish to call on the governor and the security agencies for a change in their tactics and for a paradigm shift from the norm, because their strategy is not yielding any serious results. It is disheartening to note that most of these attacks are avoidable, due to intelligence reports before it happens;the killers sometimes send notice of their impending attacks before they even strike. The people are disenchanted and frustrated with the security situation of the State and the entire country and the government has no empathy. Finally, the PDP leadership call on governor Elrufai and the APC to wake up from his slumber and face the security challenges with the same vigour and rudeness he has exhibited, thus far, in his abitrary taxing of our citizens and demolishment of their buildings or resign now and allow a more liberal, humane and serious minded person, with the capacity, take the lead of protecting the lives and property of our peoples. Signed: Abraham Alberah Catoh, State Publicity Secretary, PDP CTC,KDS

Nuhu Ribadu support group shifts loyalty to Gov Fintiri, decamps to PDP June 27, 2020 Members of the Nuhu Ribadu Support Group in Adamawa State have transferred their loyalty to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) The group, famously known as Black Caps whose members distinguish themselves by wearing black caps, were members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and campaigned for Nuhu Ribadu when he sought the APC governorship ticket for Adamawa State last year. The Black Caps, comprising the state and local government executives as well as members across Adamawa State, announced their decision on Saturday in the Government House, Yola, and also changed their group identity to the ‘Adamawa PDP Support Group For Fintiri’. The former state Chairman of the Black Caps Group, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, said the group defected into the PDP fold in recognition of the efforts that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had been making to move Adamawa forward. Receiving the group members, Governor Fintiri told them that the group is one of the political associations he admires. He assured them that the PDP and his government will carry them along. The State Chairman of the PDP, Barr Tahir Shehu, expressed happiness that the group decided to join the party and assured them of fair treatment.

None of our governors will join APC ― PDP JUNE 26, 2020 The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday, dismissed claims by Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State that 10 governors, elected on the PDP platform, will join the All Progressives Congress, APC. Governor Bello, during a television programme, had boasted that 10 PDP governors would dump their party for the APC in weeks to come. Though he failed to mention their names, the Kogi governor expressed optimism the PDP governors have signified their intention to leave the PDP after evaluating the APC and the importance of the party towards national development. But faulting Governor Bello, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Prince Diran Odeyemi, said the Governor was hallucinating. Odeyemi, who spoke said: ” When the going was good, APC governors were joining the PDP. So, what has gone right in their party that will now attract any of our governors to them? He is hallucinating, he is dreaming big.”

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT 19/6/2020 This is to inform our faithful party members and supporters that there is a fake letter, pictured underneath, going round different social media platforms purported, to have emanated from the office of the People's Democratic Party,PDP,Care Taker Committee, and signed by State Publicity Secretary of the party, Abraham Alberah Catoh, to the effect that there was going to be an "immediate conduct of Congress in the remaining 17 Wards spread across the 4 Local Govt.Areas on Tuesday 16/6/2020 and a Local Government Congress on the 18/6/2020"; this is completely false! It is the handwork of some criminal minded and desperate politicans to secure another court order on the 16/6/2020, at Kafanchan High Court. The State Care Taker Committee,CTC, condemned this fraudulent behaviour by these desperate politicans to distract us from performing our Constitutional Responsibility. We have accordingly reported the matter to the security agencies (the Nigeria Police and Department of State Security,DSS) for investigation. The party calls on our party members to remain calm and also disregard this document, as we have not even sat to discuss on this matter. We shall make the announcement at the appropriate time. Finally, we urge all PDP members to remain focused and law abiding. Signed: Abraham Alberah Catoh State Publicity Secretary, PDP,CTC,KDS

Dr Pantami: How not to do PR- Ishaq Alhassan Qauranmata. June 16,2020 An article by one Hashim Suleiman under the title "Pantami and his citizen right to political opinion" is a good example of very poor public relations skills. I have a lot of respect for Dr Isa Ali Pantami, not because he is a minister but because he is a religious leader. I also agree that he, like any other Nigerian, is entitled to his political opinion. However, that write up by Hashim will most likely attract lots of further negative comments towards the sheikh than already on the social media. For one, it is rather unfortunate that in an attempt to "protect" Dr Pantami's right to hold an opinion, Hashim would dismiss other people's opinion as "unserious..... mischief from lowly individuals". Hashim should know that, as a minister of the federal republic, Dr Pantami is a Goldfish that has no hiding place. Everything about him is subject to public scrutiny. In fact, in this clime, even his family life and eating habits can attract comments from Nigerians! Someone should please tell the likes of Hashim that Nigerians are simply reminding Dr Pantami that most of them supported him over his "opinion on a political party that the entirety of Nigerians have agreed were a failure at one point or another". That support however, was predicated on a firm belief that, as a religious leader, he was helping them by promoting an alternative political party with the competence and capability to put in place measures to reverse the failure and place the nation on a path to progress. Unfortunately, five years into an eight-year tenure, both Pantami's alternative party and government have proven to be a worst failure than the PDP. What is even more alarming is that the APC failure is more glaring in the area of security where it made the most strident criticism of the PDP! Nigerians EXPECT to hear Dr Pantami's voice, if not in criticism, at least in calling for more dedication and commitment to the protection of lives and property! |
PRESS RELEASE 12/6/2020 KDHA show of shame...PDP berates members of the State Assembly;called for calm. The leadership of the Care Taker Committee,CTC, of the Kaduna State Chapter of the People's Democratic Party,PDP, has condemned, in strong terms, the leadership fight of the Kaduna Sate House of Assembly. The party frowned at the reckless manner in which members conducted themselves, where they threw caution to the wind, without recourse to the plight of the electorates. This is a threat to our democracy. The PDP wondered why the honourable members allowed their internal crisis snowballed into fisticuffs with all the attendant media coverage, when there are more serious burning issues like the Coronavirus pandemic, poverty, insecurity and other economic woes bothering the citizenry. The APC leadership has disappointed the people of Kaduna State with their shameless behavior,to say the least! The party further advised the members of the legislature to use their energy to sponsor bills and motions the would move Kaduna State forward, rather than fighting each other in public. Though, it is their stock in trade to steal mandate giving to politicians by the electorates, it is totally unacceptable for members to go as far as stealing the symbol of authority of the Assembly, whatever the provocation. Finally, the PDP called for calm and amicable resolution of legislative disputes. Signed: Abraham Alberah Catoh State Publicity Secretary, PDP,CTC,KDS

John Danfulani: Last word. WordWeb dictionary defines HATE as The emotion of intense dislike; a feeling of dislike so strong that it demands action. It's clear that, besides acting out his pay master's design of demonizing others in order to be relevant, Danfulani hates the trio he fights so vehemently. Unfortunately ALL of them are above and beyond him. He hopes and prays to get to where they have been, not the other way round. Like I said earlier, if you fight the mighty from a position of truth and sincerity, you have God on your side. But if challenge people above you out of envy, unjustly and unfairly, then your PAIN shall be everlasting. I have read Danfulani's rejoinder to my advice and it simply increased my pity for a young man determined to follow a path to nowhere. I advised that his abilities with the pen will be more useful challenging government to wake up to its responsibility of protection of lives and property, especially as it affects the Adara. He apparently believes his attempts to cause confusion in the PDP is more important. I wondered why some leaders and elders of Southern Kaduna chose to remain silent over his transgressions. He says it's because THEY AGREE WITH and SUPPORT HIM. Well, it is not in my place to speak for them. On party congresses, as I pen this, the newly elected ward excos have been inaugurated. I congratulate them sincerely and anyone still interested in challenging the outcome is free to do so. Then the usual mudslinging. If you have evidence, produce it and I WILL SUPPORT you. But that gimmick of making accusations and demanding the accused to prove their innocence will not fly. In trying to drag former Vice President Namadi Sambo into your plot, you have also failed. Do you really think Namadi doesn't know who you work for? That's a laugh. Pray how did you show gratitude to Namadi for making you what you are today? I hope you call Umar Sani DeCat from time to time to say thanks? Finally, the name Qauranmata rings a bell in PDP households in Kaduna State and even beyond. Whenever you mention that name, people's mind jumps to an area in which I have made immense contributions to my party in particular and to the quest for people-oriented governance in general. In doing that, I challenge authority, but you don't get far in life by INSULTING ELDERS, just because you differ. And please, as an ex academic, find out things before you write. Just because you were dismissed from the Kaduna State University for gross misconduct (including INSULTS TO ELDERS) does not mean everyone is. I RESIGNED as SSA and as regards my work place, by the special grace of the Almighty, I shall either receive pension or my family shall receive death benefits. I am done here!

Hunkuyi Always Claims To Be The Best Candidate PDP Chairman June 2, 2020 Concerning the suspended members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, the chairman, Hon. Hassan Felix Hyat has given an insight into some of the reasons why they were suspended. The party had suspended seven members, including Sen. Suleiman Hunkuyi. In an interview with journalists in his residence, the caretaker committee chairman, Hassan Hyat, revealed that Senator Hunkuyi has a long history of dumping the party each time he contested the governorship elections and lost. He also revealed that the Senator flouted the party’s rule in the 2019 elections, stressing that rather than contesting the senatorial seat as a decampee, Hunkuyi contested for the office of governor as well as the senatorial seat against the MoU between him and the party’s national body officials. “Senator Hunkuyi contested the governorship elections in 2023, 2007 and 2011 against Mohammed Makarfi, Namadi Sambo and Patrick Ibrahaim Yakowa and lost all. And, when he contested and lost, he will disappear until the next round of the election before he will come back for contest claiming to be the best candidate, at all times”, he said. The chairman also stated that all those creating problems in the party are not real members but decampees that belong to the former Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi’s camp. The state chairman also disclosed that the state party believed that the trouble makers in the party are creating problems simply to ensure that the party does not do well in the local government elections next year, even though he could not agree on whether they are moles in the party as spoilers. “90 percent of them are not original members of PDP; they are all decampees, especially his own (Hunkuyi) group. Those who didn’t decamp with him, are not causing us any problem at all, only those attached to him. “You know that the three years’ tenure of the local government chairmen will end next year; so, I don’t think their issue now is about 2023 but an issue of local government elections because that is the bedrock of politics. “So, they think, if they mess us up, we have nothing to do, and while the party has nothing to present at the local government elections it means that we will be completely disadvantaged. “Therefore, we believe that they are only in PDP to create problems”, he said. Hyat further explained that supporters of the party that never wavered have been sending text messages and calling him to give their advice on ways forward to end the crisis rocking the party at the state level after the state congress but none from Hunkuyi’s camp. He added that the decision to suspend the erring members would serve as disciplinary measures and as a deterrent to other would-be members of the party. It could be recalled that the party in the state had suspended Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and six others for alleged “Anti-party activities”,.

Buhari Loans: Nigeria is now on the auction market – PDP MAY 28, 2020 The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alarms that with the volume of foreign loans being accumulated by President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC), our nation and her people have been placed on the international auction market. The party said President Buhari’s moves to take a fresh $5.513 billion (N2.1 trillion) loan in addition to an earlier $22.79 billion (N8.5trillion), the size of 2020 budget, without operable repayment plans, will totally compromise the fiscal integrity of our nation and open her up for economic annexation by foreign creditors. This is in addition to N850 billion from the capital market. It is more alarming that the Buhari government, in this fiscal year, cannot muster the capacity to harness the huge resources available in our country to generate even half of the sum of its own budget, but has been going cap in hands to shop for foreign loans. The PDP expressed fears that with this situation, the APC administration is practically driving our nation to the brinks while exposing Nigerians to the risk of modern day slavery by mortgaging our future to economic appropriation by foreign interests. Already the situation has created apprehensions, anxiety and trepidation among the citizens, particularly the youths, who are now scared about their future and the survival of our nation under the APC. It is even more distressing that this administration cannot account for the loans it has taken so far. In spite of the deluge of loans, the lives of the ordinary Nigerians, on whose behalf they claim to be amassing these debts, have become worse than the APC and Buhari met them in 2015. Painfully, even the savings made by previous administrations have been opened up for pillaging by APC leaders and the cabal in the Buhari Presidency The PDP calls on Nigerians to look beyond our primordial differences and unite in speaking against this accumulation of debts. It is no longer about political party affiliations, creed, ethnicity, class or age. We all must unite in one voice to save our nation from an imminent collapse. Our party holds that rather than mortgaging our nation to foreign interests, President Buhari should immediately cut the size of his government, slash its over bloated budget, clip its luxuries, curb unbridled corruption in his administration and make haste to recover the N14 trillion that was stolen by APC leaders under his watch. If the N14 trillion stashed away by APC leaders and the cabal is recovered, our nation will not be in need of these humongous foreign loans. The PDP also urges the National Assembly to stand on the side of the people and save the nation by immediately using its legislative instrument to check this unbridled appetite for foreign loans.
