Politics / Senator Makarfi Felicitate With Muslims On Eid-el-maulud by isahrabson: 12:22pm On Sep 16
MESSAGE TO NIGERANS ON THE OCCASION OF MAULUD-EL-NABIYY 1446

BY SENATOR AHMED MOHAMMED MAKARFI, CON, FCNA,

SEPTEMBER 15, 2024

It has pleased Allah (SWT) to enable us witness and celebrate yet another Eid-el-maulud, which is the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

It is with gratitude to Allah (SWT) that I convey to all, particularly the Muslim Ummah, my warmest greetings and felicitations on this auspicious occasion of the Eid-el-maulud, the celebration of the birth, 1,499 years ago, of the Prophet of Islam and ‘Mercy to Mankind’ Muhammad ibn Abdullah; May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

The Maulud season is an opportune moment for all of us Muslims and non Muslims alike, to reflect on the life and times of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the message he brought to mankind with a view to, as always trying to imbibe and internalize its spirit.

As we celebrate the Maulud-el-Nabiyyi, the lessons of how Prophet Muhammad(SAW) lived his life right from infancy till his return to his Maker must not be lost on us. For therein lies a perfect example of peace, honesty, good neighbourliness, love, patience, perseverance, respect and care for humanity, irrespective of whatever differences as well as purposeful leadership. Prophet Muhammad (SAW)as an embodiment of these and many other virtues must be studied and emulated as much as possible by all lovers of peace particularly those of us who adhere to the religion of Islam as propounded by him. The message of Islam brought by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remains as relevant today as it was on the day of the first Revelation 1,459 years ago.

Despite our differences in cultures, faiths and other factors, we have a leaf to borrow from the way Prophet Muhammad (SAW)welded together peoples and communities of diverse outlooks and turned them into one community that has looked at, and utilized diversity as a potent tool of development rather than a divisive one. I have always advocated for a situation in which we express our gratitude to God Almighty for the diversity with which He has blessed us by harnessing same and everyone of us bringing our varied endowments, both human and natural, for the development of the collective. That way, even the sky can only be the starting point for us.

I therefore appeal that we continue to explore more avenues of peaceful coexistence amongst ourselves. We should carefully study and adopt the mature and honest manner that Prophet Muhammad (SAW)taught the world to live irrespective of religious or other differences. Of particular interest should be the way he was accepted by the Jews in Medina and allowed to establish such a fair and equitable system of government that has now become a reference point in history. So also was his reception of and friendship with Christians to such an extent that he, at some point availed them the Grand Mosque in Madina for their religious Service. These certainly make good studies in accommodation, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence and they, certainly are worthy of emulation by all.

I once again congratulate the Muslim Ummah and indeed entire mankind as we celebrate Maulud-el-Nabiyyi. I pray to Allah (SWT) to enable us witness many more returns of this historic day as He continues to protect and guide us aright.

Politics / Kaduna:comrade Danjuma Sarki Declared For Kaduna State PDP Chairmanship. by isahrabson: 3:25pm On Jul 13
A NEW VISION IS HERE

On the day of my official Ward Local Government as well as Zonal declaration of my intention to contest for the position of the Chairman of PDP in Kaduna state, evidently, your support was massive, the show of love and solidarity was awesome, due to the tremendous confidence and trust you repose on me. These are acts I will never take for granted, and I promised never to disappoint you.

In case you missed the events, the clips below will give you a great deal of view of my agenda as well as goal.

I have no doubt that with your support, when I emerge as the state chairman of our great and amiable party, I shall tremendously build and consolidate on the successes of the current leadership of the party.

Now is the time for a "NEW VISION AND TREND" of opposition. As the popular hausa saying goes, "Da karen bana ake maganin zomon bana".

When I assume office, I shall unify the members of our great party across all strata, build bridges of harmonious working relationships amongst members, anchored on mutual respect and camaraderie between the young and the old.

I shall be fair, just and accessible to all. My leadership shall be centered on provision of credible, constructive, robust and virile opposition anchored on facts and objectivity, focused on rescuing our dear state from the prolonged political and socio-economic quagmire we found ourselves since 2015.

I am willing, ready and committed to make priceless sacrifices, targeted at kicking out the Uba Sani and his jaundiced APC government out of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.

With me as Chairman of the party in Kaduna state, the PDP shall mobilise the people from all strata of the society, welcome returning and new members, and provide a credible alternative to the good people of our dear state. We shall bring to an end the pervasive malfeasance and leadership ineptitude that is gradually becoming the hallmark of governance in our state.

My goal is to get the PDP back to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in 2027, maintain the three senatorial seats the party currently occupy and increase the number of the members of the house of representatives as well as house of assembly we presently enjoy.

I once again beg for your support, advice and prayers, as I continue on this journey, for the good of the people.

Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki,
Kaduna State PDP Chairmanship Aspirant.

‘Invite EFCC, ICPC to investigate El-Rufai, others’ – PDP advises Gov Uba Sani

June 7, 2024

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State, has called on the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, to immediately

invite the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Matters Commission, ICPC, to further investigate and recover all the monies looted by Nasir El-Rufai and his cronies.

The party also appealed to law enforcement agencies to beam their searchlights on indicted persons to prosecute them.

Abraham Alberah Catoh, the state publicity secretary of PDP in Kaduna, said in a statement on Friday that the party is following events as they unfold and will always react accordingly.

According to his statement: “The report of the Kaduna State House of Assembly investigations on the financial expenditure of the immediate past administration of Nasir El-Rufai has vindicated the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that has always challenged the government on certain expenses of the Elrufai government.

“The PDP wish to call on the governor of the state, Sen. Uba Sani, to, as a matter of transparency and posterity, immediately invite the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Matters Commission, ICPC, to further investigate and recover all the monies looted by Nasir El-Rufai and his cronies, and those found guilty be prosecuted, as revealed and recommended by the committee’s report.

“It will be recalled that earlier, Governor Uba Sani had claimed that he supported and gave his consent during the application for the loan in good faith while serving as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Kaduna. Taking this bold step will further exonerate him from public scrutiny and the court of public opinion.

“The PDP supports full government action towards enthroning transparency and good governance across all levels of government in the state.”

According to the statement, the party commended the House of Assembly and the members of the committee for a job well done and for standing on the good side of posterity, as history will never judge them in a bad light.

Debt: Kaduna lawmakers set up committee to probe El-Rufai’s administration

April 16, 2024

The committee is to investigate all financial transactions, loans, grants, and project executions between 2015 and 2023 when Mr El-Rufai was Kaduna governor.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has constituted an ad hoc committee to investigate all financial transactions, loans, grants, and project executions by the state government between 2015 and 2023.

This development comes on the heels of Governor Uba Sani’s statement at a recent town hall meeting that the state is grappling with a debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion and N115 billion contractual liabilities left behind by the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The disclosure sparked a debate on the debts, prompting calls for scrutiny of key officials involved in loan procurement, project execution, and fund utilisation.

Responding to these demands, the House asked the committee to summon prominent figures, including former speakers of the 8th and 9th Assembly, commissioners of finance, former managing directors of Kaduna MDAs, senior counsellor Jimi Lawal, and former commissioners of budget and planning to appear before it.

A motion of urgent public importance, moved by Mugu Yusuf, a PDP member representing Kaura Constituency, was adopted by other members at Tuesday’s sitting presided over by the Speaker, Yusuf Liman.

After deliberations, the speaker said the ad hoc committee would investigate abandoned projects and foreign loans received by the previous administration, as residents of the state have a right to be informed about the state’s financial position.

He said those to be summoned are expected to shed light on crucial details that could facilitate the recovery of funds earmarked for projects that were not completed.

The ad-hoc committee has Lawal Aminu (Doka/Gabasawa constituency) as chairman. The members include Mugu Yusuf (Kaura constituency), House Majority Leader Munira Tanimu; and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Shehu Pambegua.

Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, A highway to fraud, waste — Atiku knocks Tinubu

April 11, 2024

…Insists project award didn’t meet minimum threshold of due process

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned claims being made by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration bout the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project.

He described as wasteful and a highway to fraud the claim by Works Minister, Dave Umahi, that the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will tentatively cost N15.6 trillion.

This was contained in a statement signed by his Media Office, in Abuja, on Thursday.

Atiku equally knocked Umahi for altering the initial plan of the project after Gilbert Chagoury’s Hitech had been awarded the contract without any competitive bidding.

He said, “Umahi had announced that the project would be fully funded by Hitech, and based on this, there was no competitive bidding. He (Umahi) then turned around to say that Hitech could only raise just 6% of the money for the pilot phase. This smacks of deceit.”

According to the statement, Umahi had during his media rounds at select TV stations on Thursday said the road project would cost N15.6 trillion ($13bn at exchange rate of N1,200/$1) while the rail which will pass through the road will be costed separately. The minister had also said the project would not be PPP, but the government would be providing 15%-30% counterpart financing.

Responding to Umahi’s revelation, Atiku said the tentative cost was the equivalent of the total budget of all 36 states of the federation combined.

He said, “The total budget of all 36 states of the federation for 2024 stands at about N14 trillion. If you add that of the FCT, the entire budget of all sub-nationals is N15.91 trillion. This is scandalous. Worse still, they have already awarded the contract but are still not sure of the level of the counterpart funding component of the federal government!

“Umahi had said in September 2023 that Gilbert Chagoury’s Hitech had the money to construct the highway and that it would be PPP. Hitech was to build, operate, and transfer it back to the Nigerian government after years of tolling.

“It was reported by every media organization, including those owned by Tinubu. It was on the basis of this proposal that Hitech was picked. Why did Umahi then turn around to claim that it was not to be a PPP but that the government would pay 15%-30%?”

The former Vice President noted that in the 2024 budget, the project was captured as the Lagos-Port Harcourt coastal highway and was put at a cost of N500m.

“Although the National Assembly approved N500m for the project this year, the Tinubu administration has released N1.06tn. That is more than 200 times what is in the Appropriation Act. This is what happens when the National Assembly fails in its duties,” he added.

Atiku said it was curious that the N15.91 trillion announced by Umahi did not include the cost of the railway component. He therefore wondered how much the project would cost if the railway component is included.

“If N15.6 trillion is for the road component alone, then the total cost could be far higher when the railway is included. We want to know the cost of the railway,” he added.

The PDP presidential candidate also lambasted Umahi for admitting that the project was given to Gilbert Chagoury’s Hitech construction company without a competitive bidding.

He asked Umahi to stop trying to deceive Nigerians with the claim that only Hitech was competent enough to do the project, wondering if it is the same that has been grappling with the execution of its projects in Lagos.

Atiku stated, “The essence of a competitive bidding is so that Nigerians can get the best value for money. It is so that you can compare prices and pick the company that can afford the project.

“ It is wrong for him to have concluded that only Hitech could handle this project when such a project has been done by other reputable firms in the United States, China and South Africa.

“He claims he didn’t know there was a business relationship between Gilbert Chagoury and Tinubu, but this is another lie because Tinubu has publicly acknowledged this fact.”

Atiku also accused the works minister of attempting to deceive Nigerians as regards the appropriation for the project.

He called on members of the National Assembly to be alive to their responsibilities instead of acting like an annexe of the presidency.

The PDP candidate further said, “Until I exposed the dubious nature of this project, no member of the National Assembly thought it wise to investigate. The total cost was never made known until now. The fact that there was no bidding was never made known until I blew the whistle.”

The former Vice President also knocked Umahi for claiming that no money had been released yet to Hitech, which he described as another lie.

“On March 31, 2024, Umahi came on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme where he pointedly said that money that the sum of N1.06tn was released to Hitech. Only for him to say on TVC on April 11 that the same money had not been released. Which one is true, and which one is false?”

Kaduna:Elrufai A Very Pathological liar And Agent Provocateur

April 8, 2024

www.nairaland.com

The pathological liar is reputed to be a professional land rustler. Well, this comes as no surprise to anyone who is familiar with the service record of the czar.

The Sodangi report on his stewardship as FCT minister readily comes to mind. Elrufai wa so enmeshed in Land rustling in the FCT, to the extent that even government land especially in prime area's like maitama was not spared by his insatiable appetite to grab all that he could swindle for himself and his close allies. It is a well known public policy, that under no circustances under the land use act, should government Land be converted for any other purpose, except for public use. That never sunk into ambivalent corrupt ridden, accidental civil servant as he fondly call himself.

One thing is patently clear with the czar and even Obasanjo has stated it very clearly in his book, whence he stated that Elrufai's loyalty is only to himself and his shadow. The import of this, is that, the czar is disastrously unfit to hold any position of public trust thus his service track record too, evince same.

He converted land belonging to PHCN in Abuja to personal use by allocating same to himself, immediate family members, even including the unborn child as at then. If not for the malaise of a corrupt ridden system, to the sodangi report which banned him from ever holding public office, would have saved us the myraid of deep rooted problems which his reign as emperor in Sir kashim house foisted on the good people of our dear state.

I can assure you, much as Uba Sani has been trying his bit in Kaduna to cement the fissures of ethno religious and cultural differences which he has worked up on the state, next 3 year's may not be enough to heal same. Thus, when Elrufai was elected governor of Kaduna state , courtesy of the whirlwind that brought APC, Buhari et all to power, those of us who knew his antecedents were never disappointed by his record of stewardship, as the saying goe's to the leopard can never change it's skin, so like Abuja, pronto too, in Kaduna, even messier.

We may recall that it is the same mr clean stuff, who sold the then Nigerian telecommunication ( NITEL), to a smudge placeholder in portugal who headquarters was hosted in 20 ft portkabin and assets was no were even near 1000% of the net worth of nitel. That is vintage Elrufai for you.

A very smooth liar and agent provocateur that is is, who thrives in controversy, we later understood him better, that he fan's in that , so as to distract attention from his illicit deals and abuse of office. Welcome the emperor of Sir kashim house. The land rustler within his first Year in office got the lands and survey ministry, to issue him no less than 67 no's carve out from government properties in choice area's of the capital city . The assumption at the ministry was that Elrufai, would allocate same to political appointees as use to be the practice. However, the czar to the chargin of all, deployed his Abuja formula in his characteristis style, placeholders were allocated the carve out, certainly, you know what i mean, blind trust for the czar, who has two koro koro eye's.

The public partnership development ( PP) , for large chunk of land in the millennium city is largely a placeholder policy, with the czar having substantial cut in the allocation. There is a massive hectarage of land behind zenith Bank Yakubu Gowan way, something in the realm of over 40 hectares , also been held in, is it blind trust by a placeholder of his, the area is currently been cleared for development, simultaneously another hotel development project along Jabi road is on going, by another placeholder as usual, this massive land has an hectarage in the region of 15 hecters, is it the hotel chalets on quarto road, that is also another locust classicus of the Czar's acquisition.

The accidental civil servants record has an un beatten copius track record of poor Governance, corruption, maladminisstration, anti people policy's' etall. If, i may ask and urge Uba Sani as part of the recovery of looted funds, where is the 150,000 barrel's per day refinery, which he allocated and disbursed money for, to be be sited in Niger republic that never saw the light of day?

The over $8 million dollars consultancy funds drawn on the fabled Kaduna mono rail project that still remains in the pipeline. hmm, the Kaduna metropolitan CCTV project, the $ 350 million loans execution is populated by largely intangibles, consultancy payments and close to nill capital project's. Governor Uba Sani can only make some tangible progress if and only if, he constitute both a judicial panel of inquiry and a team of forensic auditors to clinically probe the eight locust year's of the czar.

Lastly, the Czar has left an unmatched record of land rustling ever witnessed in the annals of Kaduna state by any Governor, yet he has the audacity in his characteristics shameful manner, to say, he has only one property in Kaduna whole of Kaduna metropolitan capital. The czar must know, karma is a bitch and it is already taking it's toll on him.

PDP THANKS KADUNA PEOPLE, CHARGES ELECTORATES TO KEEP FAITH WITH THE PARTY AHEAD OF RERUN ELECTIONS

As the PDP concludes its struggle for the reclamation of the mandate of the people of Kaduna State at the Supreme Court, yesterday 19th January 2023, the party is deeply appreciative of the support and prayers of well-meaning citizens before, during, and after the general elections.

Although, we did not get justice at the court owing to the fact that the matter was decided strictly on technicalities and not the substance of the case, we appeal to our teeming supporters to remain calm and accept this outcome as the will of God for us all.

Having won the presidential election in the state, all three senators from the state, seven members of the House of Representatives, and two others facing a rerun, 12 members of the House of Assembly and two others also facing a rerun, the people of Kaduna State have clearly shown that the PDP remains their party choice.

We want to assure everyone of our party's resolve to continue working with the people in holding the government of the state accountable and ensuring equity, justice, and fairness in the allocation of government resources and projects.

We also want to plead with the people of the state, especially those in Makera, Chikun, Kauru, Kudan, Igabi, and Kachia/Kagarko state and federal constituencies respectively, to keep faith with our party candidates in the rerun elections of 9th February, 2023. We urge the electorates not to be discouraged by the outcome of the Supreme Court judgment in respect of the governorship election by coming out enmasse to vote for the PDP and also defend their votes.

Eternal vigilance is the price for freedom. Our liberation, therefore, from the era of electoral theft, can only be guaranteed when we mobilise ourselves to vote, resist vote buying and intimidation of voters, and also ensure our votes are counted, protected, and defended at all costs, at the various collation centres. This should be our attitude come 9th February, 2023, across all the areas election will be holding.

Thank you all once again, and may God continue to bless our dear Kaduna State.

Kaduna PDP reacts to Yero’s exit from party

October 8, 2023

While reacting to the exit of the two politicians from the party, Mr Hyat told the News men that the party will not be weakened by it.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Felix Hyat, said the exit of a former governor, Ramalan Yero, and Godfrey Gaiya, a former member of the House of Representatives, will not affect the party.

Last week, Mr Yero resigned from the party.

The former governor in a letter to his ward in Kaura Zaria, said he was leaving the PDP and returned his membership card to the ward leadership.

While reacting to the exit of the two politicians from the party, Mr Hyat told the News men that the party will not be weakened by it.

“They were mere paperweights. They had no influence. We are not going to miss any of them.

“None of them has said that the PDP maltreated him. We did not do anything to offend anyone.

“They came on their own volition. None of them did not get a good share even above their contributions to the party.

“The former governor became a commissioner for finance without being a member of the PDP.

“As a sitting governor, he contested and lost the governorship seat in 2015. He contested for the ticket to seek the seat but lost the primaries.

“As for Gaiya, he got two terms in the House of Representatives and left after losing elections.

“He came even lower, politically speaking, and sought to be a local government chairman but lost the primaries woefully.

“I am told that he was promised the then vacant Kaduna State ministerial slot if he defected, but it has been taken now. He may have done another political arithmetic. It is up to him.

“So, their exit cannot pain anyone. They are not strong politicians with any particular support base.”

Mr Hyat said the PDP was the leading party in Kaduna having won the three senate seats and 10 out of 16 House of Representatives seats.

Also, the party has approached the appeal court to challenge the judgement of the state governorship election tribunal which pronounced the APC as the winner of the 18 March governorship election in the state.
Politics / Kaduna: Tribunal Nullifies Uba Sani's Election - Isa Ashiru by isahrabson: 7:28pm On Sep 28, 2023
Press statement

Tribunal Nullifes Uba Sani's Election.

28/09/2023.

First, I give glory to God Almighty for the progress made so far in our effort to reclaim the mandate given to us by the good people of Kaduna State. I also thank the people of the state for widely believing in me and the PDP.

Also, given the ruling of the Kaduna state election tribunal, it has become necessary to share with our teaming supporters, the true position of the ruling.

On the preliminary objection, the tribunal, based on the majority of 2:1 judges upheld the preliminary objection of the respondent to the effect that the application for pre-hearing was done prematurely i.e. before the service of the last set of petitioners' reply to the 2nd respondent's reply to the petition was served.

However, the law enjoins the tribunal, as a trial court, to proceed to pronounce on the merit of the substantive suit so that in the event the court of appeal finds that the trial tribunal was wrong in its decision on the preliminary objection, it would have the benefit of pronouncing on the decision of the tribunal in the substantive matter.

Accordingly, the trial tribunal finds merit in the aspect of the petitioner's case relative to the margin of win between the two leading candidates. The tribunal by a split decision of 2:1 accordingly, nullified the election of the governor of Kaduna state, ordered that the Certificate of Return be retrieved and fresh elections be conducted in some polling units in 4 LGAs and the outcome thereof be reckoned with before the declaration of the winner of the governorship election in Kaduna state.

I want to again thank the people of the state while urging them all to remain lawabiding while we pursue the appeal process.

One thing I can assure the good people Kaduna state is that I will pursue this mandate you freely gave me to its logical conclusion and by the grace of God, victory on our side.

Thank you

Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammed Aliyu Isa Ashiru

Kaduna Guber: Anxiety As Tribunal Prepares To Deliver Judgement Thursday.

September 26, 2023

There is palpable anxiety and apprehension among all and sundry particularly the political players as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has reserved for judgement in the coming days. While the issues raised by counsels to the petitioner and Respondents are issues and responses that seem appealing depending on the angle you are viewing it from, the good people of Kaduna State are anxious and waiting patiently for the judgement expected to be delivered in the coming days. But it is however very difficult to predict where the pendulum will swing on the long run. Interestingly is the fact that all the parties in the suit are claiming anticipated Victory.

For the main plaintiff in the case, Rt. Honourable Isa Ashiru of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) and his party, they were robbed of their victory and committed to reclaiming their ‘stolen’ mandate and while the case lasted provided evidences to that effect, but the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and Governor, Senator Uba Sani and his party, won the election and also provided evidences that they won.

Comrade Danjuma Sarki who was the Governorship returning officer for the PDP at the time of the election and collation of results said, ” Some of the results were manipulated in favour of the ruling party, the APC and that is why we are challenging the outcome and pronouncement of Senator Uba Sani as winner of the election. And we are optimistic that the tribunal will give us back the mandate given to us by the good people of Kaduna State through their votes.

Also, the led counsel to Isa Ashiru of PDP Oluwole Iyamu SAN, and that of Governor Uba Sani of the APC Chief Duri Adeyele SAN, are also hopeful that the judgement will go in their favour and for their clients.

But more anxious are supporters of the parties who always throng the court in solidarity for their preferred candidate in the case.

According to him, “Uba Sani, therefore, may continue to run or attempt to evade the judicial service of the governorship election petition by the PDP but can not hide.”

“We thank the Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for granting our request for a substituted service to Uba Sani. When you conspire to thwart the outcome of an election against the choice of the people, you shouldn’t be afraid to defend the stolen mandate in court”.

“We assure the people of the state of our resolve to recover the mandate freely given to our candidate and party in the March 18 governorship election.”

“Let us continue to show support to the party, remain calm, and also pray that God will grant their Lordships the wisdom to continue to do the right thing always,” he stated.

ASAKE TO FACE EFCC: RETURN THE 700MILLION NAIRA OR FACE EFCC

April 22, 2023

The legal representative of engineer mike Auta and the Labour party are calling out on Asake, the labour party candidate in the just concluded governorship election to return money reaching the sum of 700 million naira that he and other persons fraudulently obtained.

This came up weeks after Labour party lost the elections to Uba Sani of the APC. It will be relevant to remember the rumors of Asake receiving money and letting his party down. The party is asking Asake to return the money or provide a report of how the money was being spent.

Asake was seen as the hope of southern Kaduna, the closest to the seat after Yakowa, but with all the rumor and allegations, it is difficult to decide if he was a savior or a traitor. Evidence shows that he fraudulently collected money from the party and Eng. Mike Auta and he has refused to make himself available or provide any form of clarification.

He is now given 14 days to provide the money or a report on how it was spent of face investigation by the EFCC. This news is a shock to all the Kaduna Labour party supporters and particularly to the people of southern Kaduna who had so much hope in Asake’s personality.

Re-run: Kaduna PDP rejects State Assembly election results

April 17, 2023

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna state on Monday, rejected the results of the re-run election held in Kudan, Giwa West, Kauru and Sanga State House of Assembly constituencies of the state.

In a protest letter signed by the Kaduna State PDP Secretary, Ibrahim Wusono, and made available to newsmen alleged that their agents were beaten and sent away from polling units and collation centres.

The PDP’s letter which was addressed to the Kaduna state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, stated that the party had rejected the re-run election results.

“I have been directed to officially draw your attention to the above subject matter on the Kaduna re-run elections.

“You are aware that re-run elections were held in four State House of Assembly Constituencies in Kaduna State namely Kudan, Giwa West, Kauru and Sanga.

However, the letter said “As permitted by law, we sent our agents at both the polling units where the elections were held or were to hold and the collation centres.

However, the party alleged that “the reports we received from our agents showed that the election was marred by violence, thuggery, ballot box snatching, assault and battery, use of compromised security agents to harass, intimidate and chase out our supporters and agents from the polling units and the collation centers. Votes buying by the ruling party”

“As aforementioned, examples include our Party’s Returning Agent at the Kudan Collation Center, Hon. Abdullahi S. Ahmed was beaten up. He was beaten and forced out of the collation center for opposing a wrong that was being perpetrated.”

PDP added : “We therefore state unequivocally that we will not accept any results brought to you because the elections were not free and fair.

“So, while we look forward to you to use your good office to ensure the rejection of the results, accept our assurances of highest esteem, please”

Attempt to speak with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna state chapter spokesman, Salisu Tanko Wusono failed as he did not return calls put through him to comment over PDP claims.

Let Us Remain Hopeful

On the occasion of Easter, my family and I join millions of other well-wishers to wish the Christian faithful in Kaduna State and Nigeria, a memorable Easter celebration.

Recognizing how Easter speaks of rebirth, renewal of hope, and victory over death and all forms of negativity, I urge my Christian brothers and sisters to celebrate while remaining hopeful that the future holds the best for us as a people.

While we currently may not have the best of times as a people, our adaptive resilience, which has kept us so far, would keep aiding us to continue hoping for the best of our tomorrow. And as we celebrate, let us keep spreading love and hope to all.

Since Easter is about the crucifixion, resurrection, love, peace, and sacrifices, I urge everyone to continue to extend hands of help to the vulnerable around us.

Let us also continue to pray for our state and country for more unity, security, peace, and leaders that would bring out the best in us and our state. May this Easter renew our faith.

Uba Sani’s Certificate of Return temporary – Kaduna PDP Chairman, Hyet

April 2, 2023

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman in Kaduna State, Mr Felix Hassan Hyet, on Sunday, said the certificate of return issued to Governor-elect candidate, Senator Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is only temporary, as the rightful winner of the election, Isah Ashiru would soon retrieve his mandate through a competent court of jurisdiction

Recalls that APC governorship candidate in Kaduna, Sani was announced winner of the March 18 governorship election. He was issued a certificate of return last Monday by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Commissioner in charge of Kaduna.

Hyet insisted Ashiru would surely retrieve his mandate through the overwhelming evidence of election malpractices that bedeviled the polls.

He said Uba Sani is only holding the certificate in trust for the PDP, adding that “by the time we are done with our case in the tribunal, he will hand over the certificate.”

According to him, the party members met on Thursday and reaffirmed their rejection of the declared results that gave the APC candidate the victory over the PDP candidate, adding that their determination to retrieve the people’s mandate through legal processes, starting with the application for review of the elections to the INEC National Headquarters, the outcome of which is being awaited.

“We challenge the INEC to leave above board and avoid partisanship as a supposedly independent body and do her work according to its constitutional mandate, as an umpire in election matters of our dear country,” he said.

Review Kaduna Guber Polls, Observers Tell INEC

March 29, 2023

Coalition of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accredited observer groups for credible election have called on the commission to review the gubernatorial election results declared for Kaduna State.

The observers said the election went well in Kaduna State but that at the point of collation, the results were not tallying with what was uploaded to the INEC IReV portal.

The returning officer of the Kaduna State governorship election, Prof, Lawal Bilbis, had declared that the APC candidate, Uba Sani polled 730,002 to defeat his rival, Isah Ashiru of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 719,196.

The breakdown of the results showed that APC won in ten local governments of Zaria, Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Sabon Gari, Igabi, IKara, Kauru, and Kubau while PDP won 13 local governments of Makarfi, Kachia, Chikun, Kagarko, Jaba, Jema’a, Kaura, Zango Kataf, Soba, Kudan, Chikun, Kaura, Sanga, and Lere.

At a press conference in Abuja, the national coordinator, Centre For Strategy Ethics and Values, Romans Azubuike, who spoke on behalf of the INEC accredited observer, said the INEC national headquarters should review the Kaduna gubernatorial election results.

“We are calling on INEC to review the election results for the gubernatorial election in Kaduna State.

“The election was transparent until at the point of coalition that things began to change. The process was transparent at the beginning but in Southern Kaduna, Birnin Gwari and some other local governments the coalition should be reviewed because they couldn’t transfer the result to the INEC portal in real time.

“So, we are using this opportunity to call on INEC to review the election results, particularly the gubernatorial election,” Azubuike stated.

Kaduna PDP Gov’ship Candidate To Challenge Poll Results In Court

March 24, 2023

Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Isah Mohammed Ashiru, has resolved to challenge the outcome of the March 18, 2023 governorship poll in the court to reclaim his “stolen” mandate.

Ashiru, who addressed a press conference yesterday, called on his supporters and party loyalists to remain calm, adding that the mandate of the people of Kaduna State given to him has been stolen, but he has confidence in the judiciary to reclaim his mandate.

He said, though, going to court is his second option, the first is seeking administrative intervention of the electoral body.  Ashiru said he has the responsibility to reclaim the mandate of the people of Kaduna State.

According to Ashiru, “I want to seek this opportunity to thank the good people of Kaduna State for coming out en-mass to cast their votes for the betterment of all. They have done their very best in electing the PDP into Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, but unfortunately, because of the power that be, a lot of things have happened and the resultant effect is what we have today. It is unfortunate and something that will live in the time of history.

“But, I want to assure you that, Hon. Ashiru is law abiding, our supporters are law abiding and we will continue to do the same. I want to call on the good people of Kaduna state to remain calm, be law abiding. And I want to assure you all that, our party the PDP is studying the situation and very soon, we will make a statement.

“The mandate is not mine, it belongs to the good people of Kaduna State and I have a responsibility to ensure that we recover that mandate. The stolen mandate will by the grace of God be recovered to better the lives of our people.

“We have laid down procedures and we have laws in the land, going to court is the second option that we have. The diary’s option is seeking administrative intervention by the Independent National Electoral Commission and the second is going to the court. Of course, the first court would be the tribunal, appeal, then the Supreme Court.

“We have confidence in the Nigerian judiciary because it is the last hope of the common man. So, I don’t have any fear of going to court, because I have confidence in the institution that they will do justice to this case, by the special grace of God,” he said.

PDP raises concern over resurgent attacks in Kaduna

March 17, 2023

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has raised concern over the implication of the resurgent attacks in Southern Kaduna on the gubernatorial and House of Assembly polls coming up on Saturday, March 18.

Mr Felix Hyat, Kaduna State PDP Chairman, made the observation in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna.

Hyet, who also doubles as the Chairman of PDP State Chairmen Forum, said that the resurgence in banditry in Southern Kaduna communities in the last few days called for serious concern.

“The PDP in Kaduna State is worried that the attackers may be playing out a script designed to scare, displace, and ultimately suppress the votes of the people of Southern Kaduna.

“The pattern, nature, and timing of the attacks, especially after a period of relative peace in the area is quite suspicious,” he stated.

Hyet added that the parry condemned the dastardly act in its entirety and urged the security agencies to be more proactive and decisive in the face of the threat to the survival of the people and democracy in the state.

“We also call on the people to remain calm and also be vigilant by promptly reporting any and all suspicious movements in their areas to the appropriate authorities.

“We appeal to everyone not to give in to the antics of those behind the attacks by taking the laws into their own hands.

“No one should create a reason for the outbreak of violence in the area or the imposition of punitive security measures that will lead to the postponement, cancellation or manipulation of the elections in the zone,” Hyet said.

The chairman urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to be disturbed by the recent security developments in Southern Kaduna.

“We want to say that the people of the zone are unshaken in their resolve to be peaceful and participate in the next round of elections on March 18, 2023, no matter the level of provocation.

In a statement issued by the ECWA Chairman and the Secretary, Rev. Dr Yunana Tanimu and Rev. The statement described the news item as misleading, false, and strange.

According to the statement, ECWA, as a non-partisan body, has adopted a neutral stance in the past and forthcoming elections.

“But embedded in ECWA’s neutrality, is our total objection to any same faith ticket – either Christian-Christian or Muslim-Muslim ticket – in line with the same objection that the national headquarters of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed,” the statement noted.

It reiterated its stance that ECWA has not mandated the impostorts to speak for it.

The reason why Isa Ashiru want to be governor of Kaduna state –By Isa Rabi'u

March 13, 2023

The peoples democratic party (PDP) member, Isa Rabi'u Said the real reason why Rt.Hon Isa Ashiru kudan is contesting to be governor of Kaduna state in the upcoming governorship election.

Rt.Hon Isa Ashiru kudan was contesting to restore good governance and attract development for Kaduna state indegine and non-indegine for better tomorrow for everyone across the state.

The abysmal performance of the evil APC-led administration in the last seven and half years under governor Nasir Hell-rufai has taken Kaduna state backward largely in all aspects of development and needed to be repositioned and bring the state to her days of greatness after kadalites missed the former Governor of Kaduna state, Senator Ahmed Mohammad makarfi administration years back .

Ashiru contesting to be governor because he want to make Kaduna state a great place for Nigerians and make the citizens remember the days of Senator Dr Ahmed Mohammad makarfi.Ashiru's first project as incoming governor would be the issue of pensioners and to consider the sack of workers by evil APC administration government. He will clear all outstanding pension arrears, gratuity and fucus on youth empowerment, security , agriculture, education, health and return all the displaced kadalites to their ancestral homes as a result of banditary and kidnapping before embarking on proper development for the Kaduna state.

He want to unite the citizens and put an end to the train of banditary and kidnapping in the state .his hubby desire is to make Kaduna an economic hub of Nigeria through untapped natural resources. I believe that governance is for the people and he do have sleepless nights whenever citizens are complaining about bad government by the evil APC government and restore the glory of the state back to it's originality once he was elected as governor of Kaduna state hopefully .

My dear people of Kaduna state,I urge you to bring your thoughts and sense of within in one place to be able to reason and vote Rt.Hon Isa Ashiru kudan as your incoming governor of Kaduna state, than a party who is bringing religion bias to divide the head of kadalites inorder to achieve their selfish agenda.

Nigerian Students Reject Kaduna APC Governorship Candidate, Sani Over Promise To ‘Sustain Governor El-Rufai’s Policies’

The students under the leadership of Abubakar Abdullahi, stated this on Wednesday, in a declaration note titled: "Kaduna State University (KASU) Students Described Uba Sani And APC As Students’ Enemies."

Ahead of Saturday's governorship and House of Assembly elections, students of Kaduna State University have declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Uba Sani, as a "lifetime nemesis".

The students under the leadership of Abubakar Abdullahi, stated this on Wednesday, in a declaration note titled: "Kaduna State University (KASU) Students Described Uba Sani And APC As Students’ Enemies."

The statement signed by Abdullahi, President Kadssu KASU, accused the APC and Sani of causing too much harm than good to students and Kaduna State as a whole.

The students said the APC government which Sani was part of increased tuition which caused the dropout of over 2,000 students who could not afford to pay for the new school fees.

Abdullahi recalled how Sani, a former Senator who represented Kaduna Central Zone, confirmed to the public during a debate for governorship candidates on BBC Hausa held at the university that he would sustain the policies of Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.

The statement reads, "History will never be kind to us as students’ leadership, who were duly elected by the majority number of students in the university if we failed to tell them the truth at this trying time.

"It has come to our notice that some chicken change and corrupt individuals parading themselves as Kadssu KASU Students’ leaders have liaised with Uba Sani to illegally pay the sum of N50,000 as stipend for the hiked tuition fees to some selected persons.

“I therefore on behalf of my executive members and all Kaduna State University Students make it clear to the public that we have no hand in whatsoever agreement they made regarding the kangaroo arrangement for payment as it's nemesis will never set us free.

"We don't want Uba Sani to pay any stipend. If he truly loves Kaduna State Students, then he should advise El-Rufai to reverse or reduce the hiked tuition fees as a sitting Senator and El-Rufai's close ally."

"I, therefore, call on all well-meaning Kaduna State University Students not to be distracted by the failed government as we will continue agitating for reversal or decrease of our tuition fees to enable every student complete his/her course of study," it adds.

There were plans allegedly by “powers that be” to arrest 80 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)in Kaduna State so that they would not participate in the forthcoming Governorship election, former Governor of the state, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has alleged.

He raises the alarm to let the world know that the action was deliberately done to harass and stop members of the PDP in Kaduna from participating in the forthcoming governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Makarfi, the former chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee alleged that PDP is in possession of the list of those penciled down for arrest before the governorship and House of Assembly elections, rescheduled for March, 18, 2023.

“Our attention has been drawn to above list of our field officers, drawn up by the Government to be arrested and detained until after the elections. This has grievous implications,” he said.

“Those pencilled down for arrest, were drawn from Kudan, Sanga, Igabi, Lere,, Kachia, Jaba and Kaduna North Local Government Areas of the State which are PDP strongholds.”

Makarfi warned the Government in the State to desist from arbitrary arrest of members of the PDP as a prelude to the conduct of the governorship and State House of Assembly elections which has been rescheduled to March 18, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Senator Makarfi while reacting to the arrest of Saidu Adamu the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Campaign Council in Kaduna State and the two other members of the party said that “Honourable Adamu is still in detention and we don’t know the alleged offenses. He Adamu has also not been charged to court, it is a very sad development.”

Meanwhile, the state Chairman of the PDP and former Minister of Aviation, Hassan Hyet has alleged that the ruling APC in Kaduna State was coming up with ” thrump up charges ” to nail the PDP chieftains who were given on bail on Thursday afternoon.

He called on the EFCC and other anti graft agencies to check the alleged excesses of the APC and ensure the smooth conduct of elections in the state.

They’ve been threatening traditional rulers, distributing indomie and spaghetti to deceive voters,” he alleged.
