How do you recompense for all your missed salahs? What if it was for a long period of time, like weeks, months, years? |
mukina2:That's funny? Is your language Yoruba or similar? "Ile" is Yoruba for "house" or "home." Yeah, the boy didn't go to the dark side o. I think they caught him just in time. Maybe he wasb't meant for the hard life. After the severe punishment, je came back to Ile'Kewu the very next day or a few days later and never got in trouble again. |
Very funny thread, but this is serious issue for the OP, I'm sure. I want twins too, in the near future, and will pursue all natural avenues. |

Surah Al-Ikhlas Surah An-Nas Surah Al-Fatiha Surah Al-Quraysh Surah Al-Falaq Surah Al-Fil Surah Al-Hijr I really need to read my Qur'an more often. Nothing compares. |
I never got caned at Ile Ikewu beacuse I was a goooood girl. ![]() But I have more scars than I can count from the floggings at Primary School and Secondary School. One crazy Secondary School teacher in particular never punished just one person. If one person did something wrong in class, we all got caned. Horrible man. I never cried though. I was a tomboy. ![]() The worst beating I ever saw anyone get was at that same Ile Ikewu o. This boy must have done something really bad, because the Alfas were very nice and just. I enjoyed it so much there I wish my parents had let me go for much longer. Anyway, this boy must have stolen something or touched a girl inappropriately or something very bad or obscene in some way. No one came to his aid, which is unusual amongst Yorubas, because someone will always come and beg forgiveness for you no matter how bad your crime. Which led us to believe he really did deserve the beating. He was getting flogged in the corner while we all had to sit there and recite the Surah we just learned. I will never forget it. I think he came back the next day and never got into trouble again as long as I was there. |
cap28:Keep educating the masses, my brother. It's too bad there are so many of "our people" who should be proud Africans but instead have internalized all the hatred our oppressors feel for us. To be on a Nigerian forum where a Black man who should be walking proud, like any African with all our culture should, feels free to express so much self-loathing, and worshipful praise of his white masters?! There are too many of them here, really. It is indeed true that the greatest enemy we face is not outsiders but our own who have lost their way. I now fully understand why the Chinese closed the doors and dealt seriously with the traitors in their midst. Keep fighting the good fight, Brother Cap28. Not sure I have the energy, honestly. By the way, I've met a lot of Blacks from all over the world. I have to interact with a lot of African-Americans, but never met any group of Blacks as African as the Haitians. They truly are Africans away from home, as Wyclef Jean said. I have never had one bad experience with Haitians. Not one. |
Citizens of advanced countries know that you have to plan for the education of your kids, that is why they are not interested in having many children they cannot cater for. But over here a man can marry as much as 10 wives and expect goverment to cater for the education of their legion of children
And when children are ill and dying, or when their appendix is about to burst, do you also feel that if the parents cannot pay for the surgery, the child does not deserve treatment? This is a very American Capitalist dog-eat-dog-world way of thinking. No offense to you personally. But your statement and your viewpoint is quite shocking and disturbing, to say the least. Maybe I misunderstood. I hope I did. |
If he said that, he is a cruel and venal man. |
edited: I haven't had time to read up on this, but if it (the bill) hasn't already passed, I hope it does. |
Deen4me:What did I do? |
Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday observance and Celebrations going on. How do you observe the day? Anyone watching the King Center celebration on tv or online? On the TV Show, persons of interest: Kasim Reed, new Atlanta Mayor; Bernice King, new President of SCLC; Professor and author Cornell West. |
Now it's hip to start copying all the perversions of white society, thinking that will make us look open-minded and "educated"? Give me a break! |
MUNEER2:Wow. Thanks for taking the time. I really enjoy reading your post. |
Very good sentiments. In case some don't know (just as I did not until recently), there is a tiny population of Muslims in Haiti. I met several members of a Haitian Muslim group while they were visiting USA. They're so small that even some Haitians are not aware there are Muslims in Haiti. Some of their beliefs/worldview is a little different from what I'm used to, but the ones I met were very well-read, observe salah, go to hajj, etc. This particular group are very proud of retaining their muslim heritage since slavery time. They tend to hold in very high esteem, a former slave named Mackandal or Makendel. History says he was a revolutionary who tried to help other slaves fight for freedom, but was captured by the whites and burned alive to set an example for the others slaves. Those Haitians who still call his name have mythologized him to the point they believe he broke the chains and escaped from the fires. Anyway, I mentioned just to let people know we are everywhere - African and Muslim. |
Kobojunkie:1) Not sure what you mean: I mean I'm not comfortable publically demonstrating against my country while on foreign soil. If I'm in Nogeria, I will demonstrate, but not in America, etc. 2) most every other people do it: I know many do it. To each his own. I still hold that you can be as revolutionary as you wanna be (I love that!), but don't give ammunition to foreign powers who would love nothing more than to forment discord amongst you. There are differing ways of accomplishing the same goal, surely you understand that. Mine may be different from yours. A lot of organizations in Nigeria have international branches, I'm sure you know. That is another way. There are lots of ways to fight the establishment. 3) Nigerians abroad have done it and I hope this will not be the end: I'm sure we'll agree to disagree. Note that I'm not responding to every post addressed to me becaue I am not interested in getting into an ultimately futile e-fight. To the person calling names, remember I am not obliged to show you any more respect than you show me. P.S.: I do like the "Nigerians Are Not Terrorists" sign though. Nice touch. ![]() |

Sounds like a bad idea to me. Demonstrating against your country on foreign soil? A tad unpatriotic, I'd say. Didn't the USA get all up in Jesse Jackson's face when he made an anti-Bush speech abroad? Not sure this is the way to go. If there's any demonstrating to do, it should be done in Nigeria. Those abroad will need to show support a different way. |
segzi cres:Neh. Just a tough broad. She was probably the one running the country all along. Didn't she marry 2 daughters off to governors? She may decide to run for office herself in the future. It'll be interesting to see. |
cap28:Shot to the heart! I kid I jest. I enjoy the banter. I'm done now. ![]() |
Pat Robertson is a lifelong racist, unrepentant hypocrite and a proven liar. Many saw through him years ago when they refused to air his propaganda show on the Nigerian National Television. Unfortunately, a politically motivated network and misguided Nigerians took him up oin his offer of free broadcast rights. Pat used to own an entire cable network, now he has a one-hour show where he dawdles like a punchdrunk ex-fighter. Seriously, the man sunk to new lows ever since he fought tooth and nail against those seeking the end of apartheid. There are many good-hearted public figures around. Pat was never one of them. Hateful man, he is. |
cap28:hahahaha. Boy, are you easy! ![]() First post of yours I noticed was in here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-227264.32.html#msg5310223. Brilliant, by the way, so I had to do further research - make sure it wasn't a fluke, you know. I checked out your more recent posts, from your user profile. Briefly, because it kinda felt like stalking. Anyway, I couldn't be more impressed. I'll leave it at that for now ![]() But, I'll be reading you around, Brother Cap. Hopefully in a different thread. *I have no idea how to get back on topic* |
usisky:I appreciate your time and effort in responding to my questions. I only quibble with the above quote, and respond thus: At no time did I confess being "duped" into believing the Shahadah. I read your post twice carefully. I may have more questions, and I will definitely spend even more time reading the Qur'an. And the books on Hadiths As I said, I appreciate your response, but I am not convinced - not even in the slightest - that a belief and a proclamation that Muhammed (SAW) is messenger of Allah (SWT) is a problem or rises to any level of idolatry or apostasy (perish the thought!). However, the supposed contraditions, if they are true, you highlighted between the Qur'an and the Hadiths are of interest. It may be simply explained. Also, I wonder what you wish to do with this revelation to wish you've solely arrived. Are you now unable to pray with other Muslims? Or are you attempting to lead others into your way of thinking of, and practising, Islam? Plus - and I know someone else previously mentioned this - the Qur'an also was complied by humans. How are you able to believe it wholeheartedly while dismissing the Hadiths, also compiled by humans? |
Poor Haitians. Life was already super hard for them. |
cap28:I've read some of your posts and I have one thing to say: Will you marry me? We are so simpatico! Of course, there are conditions, of which the most crucial is, I do not want to live in oyinbo land forever o, so you will need to be ready to return home in the very near future. ![]() Disclaimer: I may or may not be serious. I may or may not be single and able to backup this offer of matrimony. I could even be a cross-dressing baby-daddy on the lam from child-support. ![]() To stay on topic. The opening post appeared to me to be a complete joke. At first. Not so sure now. Surely, no one in their right mind could ever wish for a return to a period of occupation. In my short time here, I'm astonished by some of the posts I see on this forum. But, the insightful ones still make it worthwhile. All in all, makes for lively debate, I suppose. |
usisky:I'm curious to know how you developed this viewpoint? Is this an ideology that you created from sudying the Qur'an and other sources? Is this a movement? Is it new or is this a denomination or cult that sprouted from (sunni) Islam? Are you Ahmaddiyah or the opposite of it? In What part of the world do you live? I ask all these because I have never heard of any part of Islam where members are admonished for calling upon the Prophet (S.A.W). What about the Shahadah? You learn this as part of the 5 Pillars of Islam by the time you're like 8 years old if born into a Muslim family. What were you, or those who believe as you, taught about that? I have a lot more questions but I'll stop there for now. I'm not really sure how to take this, honestly. I'm inclined to trust the regular members who believe you may be insincere. No offense. I still would like answers to my questions if you can be direct and succinct. Thank you for your attention. |
olabowale:Serious question here: Is it not the prevailing view in Islam that the "Virgin Birth" is true and acceptable? I'm not saying I subscribe to this viewpoint, but I have seen where Mary's purity was mentioned without doubt or criticism. ![]() I think it was in the Qur'an, but don't quote me on that. I'll have to go back and check the surah. |
Wow! I missed the match. Reading the posts on here though, I keep thinking, "how would it feel to be one of the Super Eagles reading how much your own people downgrade you"? Jeez! Can't we support our own? Seriously. We always have to tear each other down? One poster even wrote how he can't wait till the country called Nigeria is no more. Waaaaaayyyy too much self loathing going on here! I'll be sure to check out ANY OTHER football forum after the next match. ![]() On another note, since Togo has packed it in, will the tournament organizers open a space for a non-qualifying team? Been busy so haven't read up on the news. *Support Amodu. Support the Super Eagles. 9ja till the end* |
alimat 2: MUNEER2:Feel free to elaborate. Thanks. eta: Hope I'm not asking for trouble. |
Pifa:This is a smart person talking here o. Pifa, are you a member of the bar? The confused, possibly mentally-challenged young Nigerian being railroaded in U.S. federal court may need your help, por favor. Why not get some pro bono points in and help a brother out? ![]() |
