Dangote He chose to invest his money in Nigeria, even if it's a conglomeration of monies from several thieving politicians and political enablers. That's something to ponder about. Reading this article from A to Z, got me really thinking. If indeed, he can pull off at least 50% of his dream, then Nigeria will have taken a significant leap in her development. Indeed many benefits lie in this project and its prospects. Many developed countries of the world are tending towards net-zero carbon emission-doing away with fossil fuels and investing heavily in renewable energy for the future - maybe 50+ years from now. As a shrewed business man, one will wonder why Dangote will chose to invest billions of dollars in a project that opposes future direction of the developed world. But at least I have a consolation that it may at least be a spring board for Nigeria to rise. Then we seek other directions after that. I really, really hope this project succeeds. Kudos, to you sir. |
You are one of those I've been looking for. I'll take particular note of you in another 2 years. Tajbol4splend: |
Where are the Tinubu keyboard warriors who sang his praises and presented him as messiah Nigeria needs? There insightful contributions now would have been helpful and really appreciated. What amazes me about governments in Nigeria is how quickly they rush into decisions that inflict pains on Nigerians without any careful consideration. They all do and you can't spare any one of them since 1999. Yet they NEVER see themselves as a group that should make any sacrifice in cutting down the size of their governments or the amounts they vote for themselves - that's sheer hypocrisy... reason Nigeria can't make any progress. Everybody is insincere. People cash out on every calamity that befalls Nigeria Subsidy, people benefit fuel scarcity, people benefit forex hoarding, people benefit common NEPA man will come to your neighourhood and they'll be looking for ways to reap you off market woman will benefit from any slight excuse to increase costs beyond necessary Nigeria is in a deep mess civil servants, don't even mention them... Tinubu probably has nothing to offer, this is made worse by the kind of people he leads...people who like reaping where they didn't sow. A thoughtful leader will act in steps and cautiously. SInce childhood, we've known that whatever affects pump price, affects every other thing. In recent years, it became whatever affects dollar exchange rate, affects everything. What kind of leader will bring the two multiplier effect triggers into action at the same time? A stupid or wicked one? It was Reuben Abati who said demons live in Aso Rock (https://guardian.ng/opinion/the-spiritual-side-of-aso-villa/). Of course he was there! he knows what he's talking about! Maybe these demons direct the thoughts and actions of our leaders. At N1 098/l petrol landing price, at N600/l retail price, at N1tr subsidy monthly, hardship in Nigeria seems to be on a rehearsal... it's yet to start. We really need divine intervention Refineries locally need to work - not the Dangote type, I mean refineries owned by government, managed on behalf of the people. We need to diversify our economy; invest heavily in education, the so called informal sector; protect local industries, small and medium scale industries, re-orientate people to think differently and not see any misfortune of others as an opportunity to blow- it may seem irrelevant but it's as important as making refineries work if people factor must be considered in making a society work. Because these things might be impossible to achieve, I can only feel extremely sorry for innocent honest Nigerians who are not reaping in anyway from this chaos. |
Thank God for him! |
Bro... It's just the beginning... If a country can be direction-less, these and many more is what you'll get. And it's a case of heaven's falling... it's on everyone. Continue to discourage it. That's all you can do; maybe it may save you; when consequences come. And lest, I forget, teach your students well. Don't be another version of Yahoo! |
There's no point accepting a job you'll fail in. |
You've asked a very valid question. Indeed scholars do have opinions about them. They may only vary. And opinions are like law provisions. 'Experts' use them varyingly. So there may never be unity on the opinions. Some scholars created Boko Haram, mind you. We need to put energy on what benefit us largely. Not what creates chaos. dexmond: |
A lot of misnormal happens in the name of religion. More reason government should take more responsibility in the peoples' affairs. The comments by 'youths' on this forum (representative of youths of this country) make me weep for Nigeria. Comments are completely bereft of education/insights/deep reflection/open mindedness and the likes. No doubt our youths have been malformed. What lies ahead for this country? |
You seem informed. You could have done a bit more research before (mis)informing people. You can choose a path. It's worse when you mislead others to your path. Give valid guidance for your chosen path and you see people flocking there. You don't sound logical through blackmail. Use your education to better mankind bro. malvisguy212: |
What more do you expect? That's what the society says is ok. Bet it, they'll grow more popular doing this than getting straight As. |
The guy's trial should be thorough and if found guilty, punished accordingly. Meanwhile, his crime is child's play compared to the crimes against humanity perpetrated by our political class. Their crimes have led to countless deaths and disillusion of the populace leading them to criminal acts. Shame! |
NIGHTMAREOO7:Very reason they expire shortly after winnIng youth tournaments. Shame! |
DOMINGOPAPI:Someone said rock bottom is where to make a good start. 1. Get something, anything to do. At least you've been to school. Your education can be an advantage in laying your hands on something, i.e teaching, sales man, ... 2. Look really deep and identify what you really have a passion for, go for some training on it. Law doesn't look like your thing. Meanwhile you can also acquire hands-on skills, bag/shoe making, shirt/cloth making, soap and general home consumables, etc 3. Be strong and hopeful, after the darkest part of night, comes day. PS: While you strive to acquire the certificates, also acquire as much problem-solving skills as you can. It's solving human problems that leads to progress/success not certificates. shogsman:He stated a fact. He isn't preaching. |
Aldebarann:The basis for their life is the guide(s) given by their religion. It's only natural they bring it into everything they do. People without such guidance or with others will also naturally adduce to what they are convinced about. So las las, I guess you're the one that needs to check yourself bro. |
"Im very happy to have gained freedom leaving Mongolia," he told Al Jazeera. "I didnt believe Id be in Nigeria on Saturday. I didnt believe it. Now, Im experiencing so many things in Nigeria. Fresh air, fresh food. Im really happy." So there's fresh air, fresh food in Nigeria. To God be the glory! Whatever it is should not push you to risking/loosing your life in any other country. It is hard in Nigeria but with the right attitudes, you'll survive. ![]() |
Education, Education and more Education! A knowledge of proper dressing when operating machinery could have saved her life. But then, it was bound to happen. She certainly has been operating the same machine with her hijab for several years. But only got unlucky this time around. Inna Lillahi wa Inna ilaihi raajiun She died a painful death. She died a Sha-eed. healthserve: |
One thing that keeps me from wrong doing especially when it involves other people (outside of myself) is what happens to 'me'- my name, what I stand for, my person, my everything. If you spare a thought for this, you'll be very careful with wrong doings. |
There's frustration in the land. It's understandable. He's getting rewarded for his bravery sha. That stunt needs gut. Your adrenaline, out of frustration can make you do unbelievable things. |
An example of people who got rich through impoverishing millions of Nigerians. If you think people who don't lick their a** are haters, you may have been enslaved mentally. |
He left what is eternal for momentary 'sucess or greatness?'. The beautiful thing about life is that there's always a second, third, fourth...chance. I pray he chooses well as his chances go forth. dayleke: |
I understand your pain sir. Actually, external invigilators are public school teachers who are employed on contract basis for the purpose of exams. The exam fraud thrives because there is an offer from corrupt school owners and acceptance from equally corrupt invigilators. The problem is an hydra headed monster. Nigerians are neck deep in fraudulent practices. A 'normal' way of life (fraud free) is not practicable (almost) in Nigeria. Your little by little God's blessings may be under threat from the fraud monster if you refuse to act. We are all an endangered specie. Please try to influence someone positively the much you can. What you're actually doing is saving yourself indirectly. If you turn the other way, you're arming them more to harm you. Evil thrives because good people keep quiet and play I don't care. May God help us. MILLERMannn: |
Are you sure about this? chii8: |
If the future of this nation is tied to the education of her citizens vis a vis the youths (children inclusive now) then one can say with surety, Nigeria has no future. While the problems of the education sector have always been stated and debated, solutions is what should occupy the minds of our leaders/followers at this very crucial time. 1. Government should fund schools at all levels adequately. 2. Very good hands should be admitted at tertiary institutions for teacher training. 3. Salaries of teachers should rival doctors. Truth is doctors save one individual from untimely death. Teachers teach one child who can cause/save unlimited number of people from untimely death. 4. Their should be a value-re-orientation nation-wide led and championed by government at all levels. It also means that government should lead by example by not stealing public funds/alloting the bulk of national budgets to themselves. 5. Beyond lip service, criminals of exam fraud should be prosecuted with very stringent punishments. 6. Academic successes should be rewarded and encouraged. Not just the BBN of this world. 7. People who are schooled and skilled should be assisted to earn jobs/businesses and lead meaningful lives. This will make educational successes through hardwork attractive. If the foregoing and many more can not be implemented, then it's unfortunate. PS: It amazes me that young people actually cheat to gain admission/go through the higher institutions despite the present rate of unemployment amidst certificated people. It's really an irony. One would have thought, they'll keep away and seek other routes to life successes. It only shows there's something hugely wrong with Nigerians, both young and old! It defies every normal logic, almost supernatural! |
Publishing a story in the press now amounts to treason? Military regimes were no different from this. We call this democracy? And the people are silent? |
As long as there are worse followers like you, Nigeria will keep losing talents to other nations. FarahAideed:Think of the problem as a whole! There are bad leaders because of worse followers and vice versa. |
A painful loss indeed! FTC? |
How many issues of National interest get the sort of traffic this post has? I think it calls for deep retrospection. We show no interest at all in the things that affect our lives and our children to come; the fleeting entertainment is our priority. Indeed, this country has no future. |
Education as a tool that moulds individuals for life is too important to be tied to money making. Government failed, the moment they under-funded education at all levels, thereby exposing the citizens to the quackery and evil shrouded in private education that is the order of the day in Nigeria. Serious countries world over build their progress and future on quality education made available at little or no cost to their citizens through subsidies and government funding. Private people who found schools have the means to do so, have the right values and her monitored by government. Their aim for founding schools is not for money making! School/Education is extremely capital intensive and is so if the right quality must be there. The present school mushrooming situation in Nigeria is pathetic, sad and a catastrophe waiting to unleash itself in the coming future. At Op, you can do well to sell your business/idea by emphasizing the right bases, reasons and inputs involved in school founding. If not, you would have been a part of the problem, encouraging mediocrity, evil and the untimely 'death' of several citizens of your country, young and old through poor education. |

niyidenrele:Please read below carefully. 1. Teaching is a beautiful profession. The ONLY profession where you leave a part of you in EVERYONE that you teach. 2. You sold yourself into the situation you are in! It's not about teaching, you would have done the same, if it's any other profession. 3. Now that you've realized what's up against you, challenge yourself and work a way out. If you are good at what you do, look for real schools; learn something new; trade in something; etc 4. That school owner won't budge. He needs exactly people like you. You make his day. 5. My two cents. ![]() |
