Politics / Breaking: Speaker Gbajabiamila Ignorew PDP Letter On Minotrity Leader by IsThisChange: 6:54pm On Jul 03, 2019
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has ignored a letter by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominating Kingsley Chinda as the Minority Leader of the House.

The Speaker instead announced Ndudi Elumelu as Minority Leader, amidst protest by many lawmakers.

The opposition party had in a letter announced Mr Chinda as its leader in the House.

The party’s decision was contained in a letter dated June 26 and addressed to the speaker.

An acknowledged copy of the letter sighted by PREMIUM TIMES was signed by its National Chairman, Uche Secondus, and its Secretary, Umar Tsauri.

A similar letter from the party was sent to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, on the party’s choice of Eyinnaya Abaribe as its Minority Leader.

Mr Gbajabiamila, unlike his Senate counterpart, announced different names for the various minority leadership positions.

The PDP is the largest minority party in the House. Both Messrs Chinda and Elumelu are members of the opposition party.

The PDP had asked its members to vote against Mr Gbajabiamila when the latter was contesting for the House leadership position.

Politics / Police Detains Senator Ademola Adeleke On Old Trumped Up Charges.. by IsThisChange: 8:44pm On May 06, 2019
PRESS STATEMENT

Police Detains Senator Ademola Adeleke on old Trumped up Charges...

We alert the public, diplomatic and democracy community worldwide that the Nigerian Police has arrested and detained Senator Ademola Adeleke on old trumped up charges of certificate and testimonial forgery. This is after the school principal and school authority have through affidavits denied any forgery and owned up to the school testimonial issued to Senator Adeleke

*Senator Adeleke* had this morning honoured police invitation at the force headquarters, Abuja. He arrived at the force headquarters at 9am and was not attended to until later this afternoon when he was informed of fresh charges of testimonial forgery. The distinguished Senator was taken to Maitama Police station with plan to arraign him tommorow at an undisclosed Magistrate court.

We alert the world to the systematic harrassment and victimisation of Senator Adeleke over his pursuit of the retrieval of the governorship mandate freely conferred on him by the people of Osun state. A tribunal has declared him duly elected and a ruling on appeal is pending. Yet, the police in connivance with the appealants have decided to unjustly incarcerate and raised trumped up charges which have been clarified by relevant authorities.

The Principal of the secondary school attended by *Senator Adeleke* testified through affidavit before Bwari High Court that the school indeed issued the testimonial. WAEC equally testified that the Senator sat for the examination. For the Police to revive this old clarified issue confirms political vendetta.

We call for urgent intervention of well meaning Nigerians to stop this emerging rape of democracy. The case for which the Police is acting is subjudice. It is sad to note that the Police appears to have become a tool in the hands of enemies of rule of law.

We urge our supporters to remain calm. Justice shall prevail.

Signed
Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Organisation

COLLATION OF RESULTS AT YARIMAWA WARD, TOFA LGA.

Dear Prof,

I served as a collation officer in the above ward during the supplementary election. Only one polling unit was involved in the ward. The result brought to me did not tally. The valid votes and rejected votes were in excess of the accredited voters. All my efforts to rectify the issue were aborted by one party agent who got overwhelming support of every INEC STAFF. I just resorted to ACCEPTING what they want in order to save my life from immenent threats posed. It is the DPO that brought me back to Kano in his car. I therefore call for the REJECTION of the result from YARIMAWA WARD OF
TOFA LGA. Thank you. Bslm

Politics / BREAKING: Inspector Caught Helping Thugs To Brand Private Vehicles In Police Col by IsThisChange: 8:35pm On Feb 21, 2019
BREAKING: Inspector caught helping thugs to brand private vehicles in Police colour

An unidentified Police Inspector was on Thursday arrested at a hotel in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for aiding some people to paint a fake Police patrol vehicle for use by politicians in Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

The PUNCH learnt that two of the vehicles (Volvo V70), which was one of the types procured by the state government for the Command of the Nigeria Police Force, were brand new cars ostensibly bought for the purpose of aiding electoral fraud.

A source, who was privy to the development, disclosed that the Police intercepted the thugs and the policeman at the hotel while they were branding the vehicles.

He said, “There was information that some men suspected to be political thugs working for a political party were branding the type of Volvo V70 which the state government donated to the Police.

“The rebranding was being done ahead of Saturday’s elections.

“The vehicles already had the siren installed and the Police inscription also on it, as well as the identification numbers.

“When the Police got to the hotel, the suspects had already relocated one of the vehicles, while the second vehicle was being branded with the assistance of the Police Inspector.

“He (the Inspector) was taken to the Police Sstation and the vehicle was recovered.

“The Police suspect was taken to the station for investigation and he has made useful statements.

“He mentioned some persons who engaged him in the services he was rendering.

“Investigation is ongoing. The Inspector is serving in one of the intelligence departments in the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Odiko MacDon, said he had yet to be briefed on the development.

He, however, added that if the development was true, the law would take its course.

“I have not yet got briefing on that, but if it is true, the law will take its course,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Police said they had arrested one Felix Akpan and Friday Udo of Ikot-Akpan village in Ibesikpo-Asutan Local Government Area and recovered one locally made barrel, two single barrel and 30 cartridges.

“They are currently facing interrogation in one of the departments in the state Command,” the source added.

There's a court order and INEC (a national body) is ignoring it. Malami is merely advising not forcing INEC.

If the reverse were to be the case, PDP would've gone to the International Criminal court, UN, UK, US, etc. to complain that APC have hijacked INEC.

However, we have to know what's the appeal about and who is/are the appellant (s)..

OP updated

But makeni summarize.

Jaji (a house of rep member in another faction) takes Zamfara high court case to Appeal

But sensing dangerous play,

Malaga who is one of the Respondent in the Appeal write petition against the Appeal court judge of collecting bride from Yari (Zamfara Governor)
The judges withdrawn citing latest development in the country.

New judge where constituted and judgement heard yesterday,

But before judgement Jaji withdraw his appeal,

Zamfara APC goes against the withdraw saying Jaji have no right to do that

The but appeal judge says Jaji have all right to withdraw appeal. There striking out the Jaji appeal against Zamfara high court

Again Zamfara APC is also seeking enforcement order from the Appeal court, which nothing was done about and ask all parties to maintain status quo.

So INEC who is so respondent should maintain status quo.

As it stand

1. Abuja judgement had not been appealed
2. Zamfara judgment still dey there
3. INEC takes the best of the two and obey the're legal counsel I.e INEC stand should remain APC have no candidate and no primary

I try small naaaaa.

The Court of Appeal in Sokoto has dismissed an appeal against the judgment of a Zamfara State High Court asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for various offices in Zamfara State.

The judgment returns the parties to the status quo before the appeal court’s decision.

The federal high court’s judgment which stopped the party from participating in the elections has not been set aside while the judgment of a Zamfara State High Court which asked INEC to recognize the party’s candidates for the election also subsists.

A three-member panel of judges unanimously dismissed the appeal following its withdrawal by the appellant, Aminu Jaji.
INEC has earlier insisted it would not recognise the Zamfara candidates who were produced after the stipulated time for the primaries.

The electoral body also maintained its position following conflicting judgments on the matter by a high court of Zamfara and federal high court on the same day.
