PoliticsIgbo To March For Buhari, Ambode In Lagos by itetemi(op): 9:51pm On Mar 13, 2015
The All Progressives Congress has called on Igbo indigenes across the state to converge on the Onikan Stadium, Lagos, to rally support for the APC presidential candidate, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd); and its governorship candidate in Lagos, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Saturday.

The Publicity Secretary of the APC in Lagos, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, gave the call during a press conference on Wednesday.

He said the march was necessary to clear the impression that Igbo indigenes were supporting the Peoples Democratic Party.

Igbokwe said Igbo indigenes had been co-exiting peacefully with the Yoruba. He said coming out to show their support on Saturday would prove to the world that they were solidly behind their hosts.

He said, “The Saturday rally will be a huge gathering of Igbo people in Lagos, who love former Governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governor Babatunde Fashola and Ambode. Ndigbo will gather to show their love and commitment to Lagos.

“In this season when the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan are pumping huge sums of money in local and foreign currencies, I hope Igbo will not be bought with money. We want Igbo indigenes to come out in great numbers to show that they are not purchasable hatchets that could be bought at whatever price by trooping out en masse to support the APC and the change movement sweeping across the country.

“We call on all Igbo indigenes to troop to the Onikan Stadium on Saturday as a vote against those who have been settled with millions of dollars on behalf of Ndigbo. We want them to show they cannot trade their profitable relationship with the Yoruba by the mischievous antics of a few who have been tricked into working against the interests of the Yoruba in Lagos.”

Igbokwe urged Lagosians to collect any money being distributed by the PDP as it was tax payers’ money. He, however, urged them not to sell their conscience in the process.

dipo1234:
KWAKWANSO BUHARI FIGHT DIRTY, AS BUHARI DIRECTS NORTH-WEST RALLY BE HELD IN KADUNA, AS SOUTH-SOUTH RALLY FLOPS.
Governor of Kano State may have had his revenge finally. After refusing to contribute the N2Billion demanded from each governor of the APC for the second lap of the presidential campaigns, Gov. Kwakwanso has called the Buhari bluff of cancelling the NW zonal rally of the APC billed to hold in Kano. Rising Tide has gathered that the rally will now hold in Kaduna.
Meanwhile, the cash crunch is hitting the APC. The silent freezing of Tinubu's dubious account and the confiscation of his cash tank in Lagos is affecting the APC campaigns seriously. The EFCC is closely monitoring withdrawal and transfers of the Rivers State Government after a tip off that the sum of N2.8b had been approved for payment for the reconstruction of Trans-Amadi Road. The EFCC beamed on Zenith Bank Port Harcourt, and Governor Amaechi has been unable to access funds.
The low turnout at the South -South rally was expected. The venue was changed from new 40,000 capacity stadium to the 8,000 capacity Liberation Stadium. Governor Adam Oshiomole clearly told the APCPCO DG, Rotimi Amechi that he is out of funds, and could not contribute any significant amount to the campaign.
As it looks, the wheels are screeching to abrupt halt. The once growing momentum of Nigeria's biggest opposition just caught a fever.

says he cannot ask Ijebu to vote President
DAUD OLATUNJI ABEOKUTA-

The Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Thursday, rejected an overture to endorse president Goodluck Jonathan for second term.Jonathan and Omoba Subomi Balogun after the President was decorated with traditional cloth shortly he held a closed door meeting with Awujale Oba Adetona who paid a host to the President at his palace in Ijebu-Ode during a presidential visit to his palace, urged the President to present his programme to the people of Ijebuland for them to format their opinion on whether to vote him or not.
President Jonathan had arrived Awujale palace at 11:15 am in company of the national Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu, the governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Diskson, governor of Ondo state, Dr. Segun Mimiko, former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Others at the meeting include, the Munister-designate, Musiliu Obanikoro, Chairman , Mobilisation and Organisation committee of the People’s Democratic Party in the South West, Prince, Buruji Kashamu , the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Gboyega Isiaka , PDP leaders as well as some members of All Progressives Congress and Social Democratic Party.
According to Awujale,”In Ijebu here, it is not possible for any Oba, not even in Ijebu, in Yorubaland, to go out and say vote for this, vote for that, that person is looking for trouble, but give them the opportunity to present their programme so that people can make up their minds on what to do, I think this is a very sound democratic principle and that is what I have decided to do, to give you the opportunity of meeting with the people.

PoliticsRe: Gmb's Candidacy: Where Are The Northern Voices -samuel Ajayi by itetemi: 2:57pm On Mar 12, 2015
joeyfire:
TINUBU’S HIDDEN AGENDA; SAMUEL AJAYI

WHERE ARE NORTHERN VOICES? As media practitioners and consultants, we used to do one thing while analysing national issues: who is commenting and who is not. What are they saying, what are they not The aim is to see if an issue initially presented as a national one is actually an ethnic agenda. It is in this context that I have been doing an analysis of the Buhari presidential challenge and I asked: WHERE ARE NORTHERN VOICES? It has been a 'research' I have been doing since January till this year. Granted that Buhari campaigned in the North and pulled massive crowds but where are Northern opinion leaders?

On mainstream and social media, the vehemence of the Buhari push is being spear- headed by Yorubas! In all his official engagements, within and outside the country, check the pictures: you wont find a Northerner behind him.The odd men out apart from South- westerners are John Oyegun and Rotimi Amaechi. Yet you see Tinubu, Fashola, Fayemi, Amosun, Lai Mohammed, Mamora and co. I may be proved wrong, but only once have I seen Tambuwal in photo with Buhari! Kwankwaso has quietly withdrawn himself! Atiku hardly talks even when his boy runs Buhari's media organ of the campaign. Wammako, Shettima, el-Rufai don't talk. While Obasanjo is talking every day, Babangida, Abdusalami, Ciroma, Coomasie, Lawal Kaita hardly say anything. Is there something going on?

I spoke with a Northern senior friend of mine from Sokoto State who used to head a federal government electronic media arm on why the North is not giving the general the media and moral support required, here are his words: "We want power to return to the North but it seems you Yorubas have a hidden agenda with the way your people are pushing Buhari and turning it into a Yoruba crusade." I prodded him further but he politely declined to say more. I continued this 'research' on Facebook. Whenever someone posts a pro- Buhari or anti-GEJ material, I also usually do a demographic analysis of 'likes' and comments and again, I discovered that it is mostly 75-80% Yoruba thing.

Even the Remove-Jega- don't-remove-Jega campaign is PURELY a South-west 'headache'. If you doubt, do your own media survey. Does it mean the feelers are true that most Northern leaders are uncomfortable with the way Tinubu has 'approximated' the change 'struggle'? Are they aware of any agenda some of us are not? I asked these questions because no matter the noise we are making here, high-wire, high stake politicking is going on at the highest level.
deceive una sef well well.

your plan to label him north-only candidate has failed.

PoliticsRe: APC Flays Fayose For Tagging Buhari A Liar by itetemi: 2:22pm On Mar 12, 2015
this is the hot lie on the block:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted some media reports that President Goodluck Jonathan was snubbed by King Mohammed VI of Morocco when the latter purportedly refused to speak to the president on the phone. Some news reports had quoted a statement from the Moroccan Foreign Affairs Ministry as stating that the king had refused to speak to Jonathan, adding that it was an inappropriate move by the Nigerian leader to curry electoral favours just weeks before a crucial poll.
The statement explained that the monarch rejected the request for a phone conversation and the sending of a Nigerian envoy to the country because Mohammed VI viewed the overture as an attempt by Jonathan to take advantage of Morocco’s influence to secure Muslim votes in the forthcoming Nigerian election.
However, in a statement yesterday, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the president did speak with the Moroccan monarch, adding: “Since the King was in France and not in Morocco, both leaders spoke extensively over the phone on matters of mutual interest and concern that have nothing to do with the conduct of re-scheduled elections in Nigeria.
“It is therefore preposterous to suggest that Mr. President’s telephone call to the Moroccan monarch was intended to confer any electoral advantage to the president.”
The ministry asked the media to exercise greater restraint and circumspection in the use of foreign sources for news developments in Nigeria.
