Akure—OVER 5000 youths from the South West, yesterday, converged on Akure, the Ondo State capital to endorse the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Their endorsement came at the Post National Confab Summit, facilitated by the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
The summit was entitled Youths: Our Hope for the Future.
Two other summits had been held in Akure, the Ondo state capital and Ibadan, Oyo state.
Speakers who include student union leaders, Kayode Ogunkuade and Rufai Adeyemi hinged their support and endorsement on the achievement of the President in all sectors and sections of the country.
They specifically said they were impressed with the achievements in the education sector
The youths said that the present administration increased the nine Federal Universities to 21 and also established 123 Almajiri schools in the North.

—The Islamic sect, Boko Haram, yesterday, slaughtered 74 men and 20 children at Njaba Village in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State for refusing to join the insurgents. There was, however, no official confirmation from either police or military authorities on the claims by residents of both Damboa and Chibok, where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted early last year. Vanguard gathered from some security operatives that some of the insurgents, led by a commander, Sidi Babangida, also known as Abu Sid, who had been on the wanted list of security operatives, was said to have attempted taking Damboa town on two occasions, but failed and had been recruiting more fighters for the sect in and around Damboa and Gujba Local Government areas in Borno and Yobe states. A security source, who spoke on grounds of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the issue, said they received the news of the attack and killing of 74 men and 20 children, but added that there was no official report on the incident as security operatives had been detailed to Damboa area to authenticate the claim by locals. The source said: “At times, when reports like these come to us, it turns out to be true because the locals naturally tell security operatives of happenings around them. “They have been very helpful. There was report earlier by some local traders that they saw the sect members holding a meeting after they had been dislodged from Gujba and Damboa is next to Gujba, along Yobe and Borno border. “So it may be true. But try to speak with the commissioner. No fewer than 68 people have reportedly been killed by Boko Haram members in a fresh attack in Dambua Local government area of Borno state. According to a civilian JTF Leader who spoke with Sahara Reporters, the sect members stormed Njaba village in Dambua Local Government area around 5.30am on Monday March 2nd, killing at least 68 men; from the elderly to children and then setting the entire village on fire.



One of the villagers, Fatima Abakar while given an account of how they were attacked said

"They came to our village at about 5:30am, during early Morning Prayer, so we started hearing heavy gunfire [then] there was pandemonium everywhere and gunshots and there was confusions everywhere. I ran into bush since then I never seen my husband and three children. [I] came back to our village in the afternoon dead bodies was scattered everywhere,” she said The Nigerian military has not reacted to this recent attacks by the sect members.
