Just assuming you are a biologist studying Yorubas and Benis as species, The only conclusion you will reach is that the dominant specie(Yoruba) spread to and gave birth to Benin and not the other way around.
However, for the sake of our other brothers from the east let's call Lagos A NO MAN'S LAND
Use your biology to compass tiny England and populous India, a former colony.
Ditto Japan and China.

Oba of Bini should also accept that Ife people founded Bini.
When Ife people (Yoruba) led by Oranmiyan invaded igodomigodo, they subdued the people they met there, changed the name of the settlement from igodomigodo to Ile Ibinu that's now shortened to Bini till today. They also established Obaship dynasty with
Oranmiyan as 1st Oba and his descendants, from Eweka till today as Omonoba (the real title of Binis' King I.e. child of Oba Oranmiyan). Also know that Eweka wasn't the only Yoruba/Ife child left behind in Bini. Ife people actually populated the place with many children they gave birth to in Bini, most by Edo/Esan mothers. That's why we still have so many ancient Yoruba surnames in Bini till today e.g. Obasuyi, Alonge, Ajayi, Ojo, Falaye, Oyegun, Ogun...., Ade...Balogun etc.
I'm not sure you believe what you wrote .
When did Oranmiyan invade Benin?

In so much that the Oba have been over reaching his bounds socio-politically, governor Obaseki should tred with extreme caution with any attempt to divide the reignship of the Benin kingdom.
Undermining the Oba of Benin UNITES many yorubas and igbos . Because of politics yorubas throw stones at their rulers, even wish them dead And igbos are bending over backwards to somehow unlink those "igbos" who claim to migrate from Benin.
So pushing obaseki, ijaws to ferment trouble will bring igbos and yorubas together for a common cause.
However I pity the fools.

Many people are interested in bringing Benin down, anyway, anyhow.
Awolowo taught yorubas not to respect their traditional rulers. As such their comments and behavior reflect that.
Oba of Benin is an obstacle to many, far and near. So detractors are praying for confrontation.

Really, so why would the Oba of Benin be interested in sharing this information that his predecessors never shared or opined?

If that opinion of the Obama of Benin is true, why did none of his predecessors push that analogy?

Whatever history informed him must have been documented by his predecessors.
Trying to be silly, it's not the Ona's opinion.
Name 3 of his predecessors if you know them and why would you say any traditional ruler should not make a speech you don't like?

When a dissertation is full of errors, most of them non- subtle, you simply label it as garbage and toss it back to the writer, to be discarded or rewritten.

Even the ijebus, aworis and ilajes find the compilation problematic.
Moreover there's no sign of any intellectual effort by the writer, just a display of vested political interests.

I no dey struggle o. Na you and ya Benin people get inferiority complex. Ashipa didn't go to Oyo, Ibadan etc cos he already had close rapport with Benins. And you Benins, aren't you descendants of aboriginal Yorubas?
So why are you struggling with facts and realities?
Why are Yoruba words, gods, goddess and identity so common among you all if una no migrate from them?
The relationship between Benin and Ife is well documented, as it was,no doctoring,no whitewashing. Nothing in Benin history glorifies ascendancy or superiority. It's the yorubas who want to use a revised history to make contemporary political statements.
Real and objective history should be the gold standard, not political one- up manship.

Lagos belongs to the Edos.
Well documented by non- Benin chroniclers.
Separate politics from history, yorubas refuse to listen.
Anyway I partially blame Awolowo and the Action Group for this intoxication and obsession for power and dominance.

YOU ARE A COMPOUND FOOL TRYING TO REWRITE THE HISTORY OF A STATE THAT BELONGED TO THE YORUBA WHEN YOU COME FROM A TRIBE WITH NO HISTORY ,IS NIGERIA A YORUBA ,HAUSA OR IGBO NAME YOU CHILD OF PERDITION THERE ARE INDIGENOUS PEOPLEI N LAGOS AND INDEED NIGERIA BEFORE THE PORTUGUESE OR ANY WHITE MAN CAME FOR THAT MATTER ,LAGOS IS YORUBA LAND PERIOD,WHERE IS THE BENNI INFLUENCE IN LAGOS RATHER THE YORUBA INFLUENCE IN BENNI IS THERE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE BECAUSE YOU DEFEATED SOMEONE' IN BATTLE DOES THAT MEAN YOU FOUND IT,LAGOS COMPRISE MANY TOWNS WHICH ONE DID THE BENNI FIND
You are screaming and not making any sense at all.
Is there any museums or shrine in yorubaland to situate and corroborate any of these claims?
A lot of what is called Benin history today was actually written by non- Benin writers
Their testimony for better or for worse, stands on its merit. No revision,no doctoring.
Benin doesn't use others as references but others can't do same. Why?
PoliticsRe: The 62 Lagos Township And Their Founders by itsene: 11:58am On Nov 28, 2023
Padipadi:
Interesting.

To buttress the facts by the op, Lagos (Lagos de curamo) is a Portuguese word meaning lakes. As you all know, Lagos has many lakes. Also, the word Eko or Oko means Farm. Evidence: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Lagos#:~:text=Lagos%20means%20%22lakes%22%20in%20Portuguese,%22%20and%20later%20%22Lagos%22.

Ancient Lagos was used for farming by Olofin who was the first ruler of Lagos before Ashipa. Both Olofin and Ashipa are Yorubamen.
The first Oba of Lagos is Ashipa a man from Awori tribe of Yorubas.
He went to Benin as a war Chief os he had dispute with Olofin, another Yoruba chief who was the ruler of Lagos at that time. Around this time, the Oba of Benin had trae routes from Benin to Lagos & probably saw it as an opportunity to annex Lagos cos it's a place where trade was booming at that time cos of it's nearness to the sea. It's to be noted that Ashipa had access to Benin palace via trade. So he was assisted with warriors who defeated Olofin. Ashipa, a Yorubaman became first king of Lagos and his descendants were kings till today.

So if the Oba of Benin that made recent talk must talk, he should only talk about the influence of Benin in Lagos and not that Benins owned or founded Lagos.
Lastly, Lagos is Yorubaland. The language, culture, tradition and everything is Yoruba and it's foundation is Yoruba. However at various points, it has mixed with other tribes. Eben in present day, Igbos, Hausas dominated some parts of the state and I hope in future, Hausas or Igbos won't come and lay some claims.

It's important to know history and understand history with common sense.
For Yorubas, a pdf of their history can be gotten here. It's named History of Yorubas by Rev Samuel Johnson. It's the most concrete do far as at 2023 AD. Forgotten Books

History of the Yorubas
The reason you are struggling is simply due to dishonesty. You are putting sentences together to support a point of view. This is politics, not history.
A yoruba chief in dispute with another yoruba chief runs to Benin for assistance, why?
There were warriors in ibadan, ife, oyo etc, why bypass them?

Public restrooms in all markets and wherever food is sold.
All transport garages and anywhere with large human traffic.
