Up till today, they still live in a place called Yoruba Quarters in Benin City. It was at that Ile-Ife meeting, which had Eweka in attendance that these children were told the reasons they were given birth to in Benin, that it was Oba Orominyan’s desire to use them to overthrow the then Ogiso Erebo and his dynasty, which was then known as Igodomigodo. They were all made to swear to an oath never to betray Eweka, who was to become the Oba of Benin, if they eventually succeeded.

Expectedly, this particular war was protracted as many people died on both sides. The carnage was much. It was, however, difficult for the then Ogiso to use extra force, as he felt his grandchildren were being used in the war. He kept saying the children being used by the Oba to prosecute his war were children of Benin daughters, even though they were now supporting their father’s side to fight the Ogiso.

It was at this point a truce was called. As there were no victor and no vanquished, Ogiso Erebo was told there was no way this large number of children born by Benin women for Yoruba men could be repatriated, since they had already been integrated into the heart of Igodomigodo. He was told the only way to maintain peace was for him to divide Igodomigodo into two kingdoms. Let the oba take a part, while he would hold on to the other part.

Please check the map properly, one will see that when coming from Bini through the sea one will have to pass through Epe and Ibeju before getting to Lagos island and Eti-osa.

There is not a single land in Eti-osa that belongs to any Bini decendants.

So how on earth can you be the finding fathers of a place and those that came to meet you on your land now have more land than you?

How come you also speak their language not the other way round.

The Oba of Benin is known for being a loose-talker just like Akiolu. The problem with such character flaw is that people will tear you to shreds because you have used your mouth to give them the opportunity to do so.

Another thing is the retributive angle. Last election, Bini people made it a favourite habit to insult Yoruba traditional and political leaders. They decided to stupidly follow those senseless yamrees who have no future. Some see this as an opportunity to reciprocate the unkind gestures of those misguided Bini people.

The Oba of Benin really messed up. He knows nothing about history. We know that the old Bini empire was very powerful but not to the extent of founding Lagos. If the Bini People founded Lagos, so how come the Edo language is not spoken in Lagos like Yoruba and Egun? One thing about this our generation is that we lack reasoning and we call ourselves educated people. Social media has made many to lost their thinking. Oba of Benin goofed big time. He never learned history from his father. This is one of the reasons I fault the removal of history from secondary and primary curriculum.

The former Oba of Benin started the falsehood in 2004, I think. He published a book and launched it in Lagos then setting off a wind of controversy. He wanted to run away from his own identity as a descendant of a Yoruba prince, Oranmiyan.
