We are not talking about a hobby here. We are talking psychology; Something that messes with your mindset and thinking

You think people who smoke can take it casually without getting addicted?

In Crypto, if you get burnt, you rest. I haven't seen anyone begging for 2k to buy shit coins

People beg for 100 naira to strike games. People get burnt in betting, and they go into debt to just bet.

You really haven't gone through this path...If you have, you'll understand the wide difference between both.
You don't know me.

You guys had a conversation here about fake drinks and I decided I wasn't going to take any drink ever again. That discussion was in May 2023 It's been more than one year and I have not tasted any drink that is not water.

Even if I win a million naira with 1k, my next bet is in another week or two weeks as planned.

I have absolute control over myself and my emotions and won't agree that everyone who bets gets addicted to it.

don't compare crypto with betting bro, they re miles apart in differences
Apart from the fact that you don't lose till you sell, what's the other difference?

Whether it's btc, sol or eth, all you're doing is trying to take other people's money which is the same as trying to take the bookies money.

Oga, no be the same thing oh.

You can as well say stock trading is the same as betting; which you know is not true.

Crypto firms made their money from trading crypto. No Bet company made its money from placing 2 odds.

I would advise you don't start. Make clap no turn to dance
What you don't see with crypto which is the same as betting is, in both cases, the odds are heavily stacked against you.

With betting, you're betting against the bookie and with crypto, you're betting against heavy market movers.

You're betting against people who decide in one corner the direction they want the market to go and are trying to take your small 1 or 2k dollars to add to theirs.

I am not saying betting will turn anyone into a millionaire or billionaire. I don't even believe influencers like Mr banks and the likes make their money from betting

I'm only saying it can be done without getting addicted if you have control over your emotions and treat it as leisure. I know I have over mine.

The bold is the problem. You are looking at betting from an outsider's view.

I've been betting since the days of 1960bet,merrybet,nairabet and surebet (the early pioneers in the Nigerian betting sector). As much as I was a very financially disciplined person,I saw people get into serious financial mess due to betting. Some of them are brilliant people who pride themselves as having total control over their emotions and finances.

There's a kind of high betting gives people. It doesn't matter whether u have money or not, once betting hold u for blokkus u won't stop until it leads u to a dark place. Just look at Ivan Toney the footballer, despite being a millionaire in pounds sterling the betting addiction still had him messed up.

The only panacea for betting addiction is to shun betting completely.
Everything you think happens with bet also happen with crypto. Infact, before now, I was totally anti betting. Then I started crypto and realised there's very little difference between them.

Infact, the only major difference is that in crypto, nothing ever completely dies especially if you stick to the majors. You don't lose until you sell. If I make a trade and the market goes against me, I simply close the app until my sell limit gets triggered when bull market returns. With betting, once the game ends, you've either won or lost. The emotions, the high, addiction and every other thing is also there in crypto.

Now you're making me want to open a bet account to prove to you it can actually be done. I will deposit 30k and bet 1k every weekend or every other weekend. I will share my PNL at the end of the season.

Only thing is, if I do, you'll say it's because I wanted to prove a point. grin

Ever heard of Flashscores?
The website?

I don't think you quite understand what I'm saying or maybe I don't get your question.

My thinking is that there has to be a delay of some sort with whatever transmits results of ongoing matches to either the bookies, livescores or flashscores.

Reminds me of one of my biggest win even when my psych kept telling me not to indulge - as the house eventually wins on the long run is a principle most quant live by

Livebets, Brazil vs Germany, worldcup - a decade ago. Was watching it live at the time and as soon as Muller scored the first, could see the next goal coming from them and just kept winning on and on till Oscar shut me out.

Started as a joke with a friend we was watching together and he challenged me on the Muller thing. In retrospect, think it was easier then for me cos I won initially and kept winning so I kept betting big with money I already won - so little risk on my side.
I'm wondering if these bookies can update faster than someone watching a Nigerian premier league match live.

Like if I'm at the stadium watching and a player scores. I can quickly bet him as the player to score the first goal. I'm not sure whatever transmits result to the bookies will be faster than the human eye especially in our league here.

This only means one thing.
If a pristine engine was bound to last for 5 more years on PMS, it means it's life has been reduced by half if u install CNG, all things being equal.
This is a good perspective. Especially when engine failure is not just a one day event. It's cumulative.

So while little issues may take one year on a petrol engine before you start seeing the effect, with CNG, it comes much earlier.

The reason why that mindset will not work with betting is the financial gain element involved . Anything that has element of possible financial gain will certainly involve investing ur emotions .

Once ur emotions are invested , there’s no limit to what extent u can go. Human emotions is not easy to control like that . That’s why as a betting man u can wake in the morning and just have a feeling that today is ur lucky day. You start feeling unnecessarily positive and will bet on sure games .

You will be surprised that the first 12.30pm game will cut ur ticket. Because u are feeling positive , u will rebet the other games before 3pm games start and u will still lose . U can still see overnight basketball game and just encourage urself saying “ Na who give up 4ck up” . It will shock u that u will wake next day with zero balance 😂.

Betting na serious addiction that will eat a man up so bad . U will just be getting unnecessarily optimistic while going broke.
Maybe I should add that it's not everyone who can do it.

You don't watch a cinema in the morning, pay to watch another in the afternoon and pay to watch at night.

Once you do it and you lose, that's it. The next bet can be in a week, one month or 6 month time.

With crypto for instance, the last time I bought was on the 7th of August. I have since sold and waiting for prices to fall again. I am ready to wait till December 2025 if that's how long it takes.

If prices move while I'm waiting, good luck to those who bought.

To put into perspective, some people have been waiting since 2008 for the next major financial market crash. It finally happened in 2020 twelve years later.

That is how the mindset works. Again, it's not for those who don't have control over their emotions.

It's actually 1,065 naira per liter, as for the bolded, i will check their station whenever i pass there. Concerning the engine going bad, is from bad conversation or bad cng? Because I'm not understanding, make person no go carry him money but trouble grin
I've watched the interview. What I can gather is, if your engine has issues, CNG will magnify the issue. So those with engines on their last days will do well to avoid conversion.

However, if the engine is in pristine state, users have reported no issues so far.

I don't see much difference between betting and crypto. Both are different forms of gambling.

That's the mindset I apply to crypto and I believe same can work with betting.

That’s why I always advise people not to venture into it at all. It’s something that can be very addictive .

I’ve seen gambling ruin a lot of people and I was not ready to have it put a hole in my finances . The more ur non-gambling income, the higher the chances that u will lose it to gambling if u don’t quit gambling .
The best mindset to have about betting is to treat it like any other thing we do during leisure that gives pleasure.

Just as we pay to watch football, cinemas, music and comedy shows, e.t.c

The difference is, rather than pay to the promoter of the show or to the owner of the viewing centre, you're paying to the bet company with the added "benefit" that luck may shine on you and you cashout.

The problem is, since we don't watch football or go to comedy shows every day, applying this mindset to betting requires strong discipline.

My immediate guess is that it wasn't done properly.

I watch carwow on YouTube and most of the cars that breakdown during races are cars that have been modified/tuned. These tunes are done by garages with technical know-how and have access to the best of tools and softwares.

How much more doing this conversion with our normal Naija way of doing things.

This is the hypocrisy we keep talking about.

Whether the court has jurisdiction or not, whether the judgment was written in Wikes parlour or in Tinubus bedroom, it is still the judgment of a court and is meant to be obeyed until it is set aside by a superior court.

How can you explain away a sitting governor taking laws into his hands and have problems when others do the same thing?

Before Wike entered, like 100% of your post regarding Rivers was pro-Wike. Your fanboyism got so bad that even when you were told the man's heavy-handedness led to the loss of innocent lives you waived it off as deaths that were necessary to guarantee the peace of Rivers.

As soon as it became obvious that Fubara wasn't going to dance to Wike's tunes, your posts then become anti-Fubara and when you were again told that Wike not giving this man rest won't allow him focus on work, you say it doesn't matter, that all the projects you needed were already done by Wike... I mean grin

The focus of your posts these days is calling out hypocrites (aka anti-Wike)...we know what we're doing.

No governor, however razz or brazen will by themselves choose to wreck this sort of unrest and havoc on their state...the only reason Fubara is acting mad is your menthol has refused to give him peace by allowing him govern...one would expect the focus of your posts be on the troublemaker but it's not.

Your token 2% calling for peace doesn't deceive anybody... Res Ipsa Loquitor; The fact speaks for itself 😁
This one no matter how hard he tries cannot hide his hypocrisy.

You should be the last person calling anyone out. I mean, did you just justify a governor burning down his state? grin

English is not our mothers' tongue, but it is not that hard. I said Wike is burning down the state and u support him. Look through ur posts and u will see how u've always supported Wike up till this present moment.

I thought u would be showing me ur posts where u criticized Wike for causing chaos in the "peaceful" Rivers state u've always projected on this space. But u are showing me a December 2023 post where u are hoping ur principal who is a thug will allow the sitting governor to exercise his executive powers he helped him to acquire.

Unfortunately, things have taken a different turn since ur wish in December 2023 and u have been found missing criticizing him. All u do is find a way to project him as the generalissimo of Rivers State. Even people that stood by him all these while he was governor and even when he brought Fubara to the fore have had reason to call him out for destabilizing the state but not u.

We know what we know.
This is now a waste of time.

There have been several instances where I have called out Wike on this thread but even if I post them, you will just find a way to explain it away like you just did telling us things took a different turn since December 2023 when the HOA complex was actually burnt in October 2023.

Enjoy.
