Idris I understand exactly how you Feel. Being denied can be frustrating and it doesn't allow for straight thinking. When I was denied I kept looking for different reasons as to what may have been the cause for the denial, I tell you that thing can make one go crazy. All I needed to do was just relax and listen. Which I did.
Now if only you too would just relax and listen to what you have been told on here, I tell you you'd laugh in the end at how you acted now cause you'd See that it was as simple as abc.

Wait o...I don't understand...what then is allowed exactly? Cos provisions are dry foods. Isit cos they were not in the checked in luggage?
My dear, take all that you want. As long as there are no liquids and the customs officers like your face, you'll be fine.
But even if they're seized, it's not like you'll get into any trouble
You can't imagine all the prishrishi I took with me.

my sponsor gave me the package from the bank which contain the stmt of account and letter of recommendation but the envelop is sealed and addressed to the embassy and it is written on it CONFIDENTIAL. Should I open it or I take it to the embassy like that?

You'll be asked to open all sealed envelops before you enter the embassy. You can as well open now or chill till you get there.

Ewoo! shocked what did he say wrong? You're the one that's out of line Mister.

effulgence: I just learnt from this forum that one must apply for student visa 120 days before resumption date. Now I am yet to apply for interview because my I-20 form is yet to arrive.Should I schedule an interview considering the 120 days rule because I feel its late to apply

The rule doesn't mean you apply 120days before. The issue is applying within 120days of your resumption date. You're not late, apply as soon as your I20 arrives.

No. I later paid at Access Bank. In addition to Citibank, you can pay at Access Bank or First bank. Just walk into any First Bank or Access Bank branch in your city and tell them you want to pay for an emirates flight. They'll process it for you and you'll receive your e-ticket by email. But note that you'll have to first book your flight online on http://fly4.emirates.com

I've done the booking already. Thanks for info.

Baby cries...haha. Paid N136,000 ($856). I also chose window seats for the first to Dubai (Boeing 777-300ER) and second flight to JFK (Airbus A380 800). I didn't see a seat selection option for the last flight to Baltimore.

Please did you have to pay at citibank? I want to go do that now.

I got there at 5.30am for my 7.30am interview, lol.
Black American lady Interviewed me at about 8:30am. I tried to greet and smile but was too tired, didn't bother.
VO: pass me your docs
VO: why did you choose pittsburg state uni?
ME: its accredited by the AACSB and.....
VO: (cut me short) that's same with all business schools.
ME: (I just continued talking sha, cause I didn't want all I had planned to say to leave my head). Accreditation by that board is the highest standard of achievement for business schools, and as a graduate student I'd be open to research opportunities. Asides that the degree plan of psu consists of other fundamental components of ther programs like finance, HOUR, Internal auditing and these jobs are usually given to foreign professionals to handle for us in Nigeria(stole this line from mamacita) cheesy
VO: where did you do your undergrad study
Me: Uniabuja
VO: what have you been doing since then?
ME: did my nysc, got a certificate in mgt from NIM and joined the family business as a business analyst
VO: what's the business about?
ME: we supply, repair and do maintenance of computer systems for large companies.
VO: did you apply to any other school
Me: Yes, Portland State Uni and...(she cut me short again)
VO: so why did you pick Pitts state over Portland
ME: said same answer as b4 about degree plan of Pittstate
VO: so what do you plan to do with this degree
ME: I intend to grow the family business and get a top management position in a Nigerian bla bla
VO: who is sponsoring you?
Me: my sister
VO: How many children in your family?
ME: 5
VO: what position are you?
ME: Last child( I'm not last, I'm 4th. Just said to make my case sweeter)
VO: did you do any tests?
ME: Yes, GMat and Toefl
VO: oh, that's great.
ME: (was about to bring out test score paper) she said don't bother.
VO: so I'm approving your visa....bla bla bla
ME: I said thank you like 4 times, lol
VO: she just kept smiling
I sha hurriedly left b4 she'd change her mind...
That's it o, not a single documents was asked from me.
The fasting and prayers paid off. Follow God o.lol

Your narration isn't complete.
-What course did you apply
-What reasons did you give for choosing the school.
- Where did you state you work and what type of business does your family do?

Okay, this is another side to it.
I didn't say at the interview what kind of business we do, I just said after my nysc prog I joined the family business. I didn't explain my job role or any of the sort.

You'll have to type your interview experience in full in order to aid us pinpoint exactly which of your answers caused your denial. You only gave us one of your answers which you think is the cause of your problem, which may not be your problem. Recollect yourself and your actual replies and post them here in full like others do.

To be honest that's basically all.
She asked the why pittsburg Uni twice and I gave 2 different answers.
The first being that its accredited by the aacsb(association to advance collegiate schools of business) and that its endorsed with an internal audit program.
The second is the answer I wrote earlier on. This is my confusion too.

Kunsoft:

Your Interview is not that bad BUT why not tell us the exact things you said on this highlighted words. its matters in evaluating and pointing out your mistake.
Thanks

School: pittsburg state university
Course: MBA
Reasons I gave: its business school is accredited by the AACSB and that its one of 28 schools to be endorsed with an internal audit program(something like this is what I said)
Although I'm not tensed now, I may not have said it then as clearly as I have written it now.

Allohrandy: did you go with any prove that you paid the school fees during your visa interview ? Unlike UK student visa, it is highly unusual for schools in US to demand for school fees before you get your visa.

Yeah it was stated on I20, that part payment had been made. I guess she didn't see it.
Thanks again for advice, I'll consider that.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by ivory23456(f): 9:24pm On May 02, 2013
Allohrandy: your interview was not too bad but I think you was denied because you had 2 sponsors and the funds in their account was not really sufficient..you should reapply with only one sponsor with sufficient funds of at least one year school fees in his account.. I wish you good luck

Hey, thanks for the reply. But I mean.... Even with half of my fees already paid?

Hi everyone, this is the first time I'm commenting here. Been reading all your posts. I had my visa interview today in lagos and I was denied sad. While all the male VO's were just approving visas, the lady VO was just denying all that came along.
I got admiSsion into pittsburg state uni in Kansas for an MBA.
This was how my interview went:
VO: what school are you going to?
ME: said
Vo: course?
Me: said
VO: how did you know about the school
Me: told her on the internet
VO: why did you choose it
ME: gave some reasons
VO: where did you get your first degree.
ME: University of abuja.
VO: what course?
ME: Economics
VO: do you still live in abuja?
ME: no, I stay in lagos now.
VO: what have you been doing since you graduated in 2010
ME: I did my youth service(told her where I worked) and I joined the family business in August '11
VO: who is your sponsor?(I must mention here that $12000 out of my $23304 schools fees has been paid because its a criteria in the school before I20 can be sent to you)
ME: my sister and my mum and the business decided to pay a little part of my fees per year
VO: asked for bank staements
ME: I showed.(I dunno if this was the problem: my sister's balance is about 3.5m but my mum's is about 500k. My mum's own is low cause she just finished building a block of flats)
VO: How many other schools I applied to.
ME: Uni of Washington, Portland state university and Michigan state university.
VO: why did you chose Pitt state
ME: Said.(I said something like "pittsburg state uni has a small business development center that helps new and existing businesses
, and the graduate students will be able to work with the businesses and assist in the center. I didn't clearly explain what I meant. I think the word "work" I said there shot me in the foot.)She typed for long on her computer and said "sorry your visa cannot be issued at this time" and gave me that 214(b) letter.
Please does anyone know if something else could be the reason for denial and what I can do to better my chances cause I want to re apply.
School resumes on the 11th of August.
