victree007: Hello Guys! Visa Approved this morning at the US Consulate, Frankfurt. The consular officer allowed me to finish my sentences so I was really free to express myself. No SOA I really look forward to when Nigerians in Nigeria will be respected by other countries. Imagine how friendly the conversation was in Germany. Here in Nigeria, you literally “beg” for the visa, and the officers are like Demi-god. It’s sad. Congratulations to you! Sorry I said all of that on your transcript. I’m happy you got it without stress. |

ybahrbz91: Good morning house. Thanks to everyone who has been contributing. I think I have made a big mistake and I would like to clarify. In request for my I-20, I used father's account but in filling my DS-160, I plan going with my uncle's account as sponsor. Is this an automatic rejection? I believe schools usually upload that SOA to a government portal as well. If not the actual document, maybe a note about the document. Why not save yourself from the stress and stick to the sponsor you presented to your school. Let your dad sponsor you since he has the financial capability. |

Flaame: Good morning NL family, please help me scrutinize my proposed transcript @ Lagosismyhome, fairheart, sharwama, walspring....please seriously look into my matter. School: St. Cloud State University Course: Computer engineering Level: undergraduate 90% of what you wrote there, you won’t remember, or anxiety will make you say it wrongly or the VO won’t even give you the time. The only advice I’d give is that you spend enough time filling out your DS160 and make sure your progress timeline is discussed properly in there. |

For those visa approved since I last visited here https://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0016.gif
LagosismyHome and others, I can see you.
Hey justwise. Thanks for putting the thread in order. I am sure you don't know me, but I have always followed your post since your Msc days, back before dem MsNas... You're a huge inspiration, and also one of the reasons why I did not give up on the study abroad thingy... Thank you so much! |

Cart3l: VO: How did you get to know the school, IUP? Me: (this was my planned answer) I got to knownof the school through 2 acquaintances of mine (which wasn’t true) then she gave me the shocker....
VO: What are their surnames? Me: I actually didn’t prepare for this so I just kinda gave her two random names.
VO: she typed on her pic and was like she couldn’t find those names in her database... Me: I was like that’s strange cos they actually studied there....
VO: Why do you wanna study Geography? Me: (at this point, I was already destabilized as a result of the failed name ish) I gave an answer about my main area of concentration being environmental planning and how this would help checkmate the harmful excesses of urbanization. But wasn’t feeling the session again but just kept hoping.
VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: 3 schools, IUP, Western Illinois University and Texas Southern University....(although I applied to just one)
Please I really need your advice..... if I reapply, how would I remedy the “how do you know about IUP” question and in what other ways can I make my general case more convincing.
Kindly help a brother.... thanks in anticipation... Sorry about the denial, but the only thing I can think of is WHY ARE YOU LYING WHEN YOU DONT HAVE TO? I mean why can’t you just answer truthfully as much as you can? It’s quite sad. |

TheNoble007: Good morning fam. My school (CUNY) is demanding for a proof of income like paystub, tax returns etc of my sponsor, in order to get my I 20. Is this ideal? . Apart from sponsor's bank statement to cover deficits. I got a merit scholarship together with a GRA. I gained admit late because I applied late, and I feel like abandoning this whole thing for France. My sponsor is a business man. Very few business men have tax returns. Can you please advise me on what to do? Thanks! I strongly suggest that you mail your graduate coordinator and copy the international student specialist (the one responsible for processing I-20) and explain to them that what they’re requesting for is not obtainable. From their response you would be guided on what to do. It’s a bit strange for such request to be made actually. |

Felizz: Am yet to pick up a dates for another interview Can i pick up a dates without DS160 and visa payment receipt? From what I know, you need to pay visa application fee before you get to schedule an appointment. You need the number from DS160 form to schedule your appointment as well. I’m not sure if I have answered you, but that’s all I know about it. PS: This might not apply to you because I don’t know the processes involved in reapplying. |

Visa approved!
Appointment time: 6:45am
Funding: $30k (tuition waiver not assistantship)
Deficit: 18k
School: Georgia State University
She has denied like 3 people ahead of me. I also forgot to smile.
Her: Good morning, pass your I-20 and passport.
Me: Did as instructed.
Her: How did you get this funding?
Me: After my admission I had an interview with the program director and director of laboratory, and they considered me a good assistant in the laboratory. But I won’t start in that role until my second semester after my apprenticing period.
Her: When did you graduate?
Me: 2018.
Her: What will you be doing after your studies?
Me: I’m coming back home to take up lecturing job, and also offer consulting service to cancer management centers.
Her: Interesting
Me: Excuse me?
Her: I said interesting.
Her: What will you be doing in the laboratory?
Me: Setting up the laboratory for experiment and also helping with anatomy dissection.
Her: Human body? (She look scared or something. )
Me: Yes.
Her: Have you done this before?
Me: Yes, as an undergraduate.
Her: What did you say you studied again?
Me: Human Anatomy
Her: Who will cover the deficit?
Me: My uncle, and I have personal savings of $15k as well in my bank account.

Me: Thank you
Her: Hold on.
She brought out that US work blah blah
Me: Thanks. Have a wonderful day.
Note:
1. No document was asked. And I went with everything oo, even NYsC discharge certificate cos I did my POP last month.
2. I was greatly favored by God. That’s just it. I believe in Him and He stepped in for me.
3. There is no blueprint for this thing. Really.
4. The entire interview lasted for less than 5mins.
Now to the next thing, ticket hunting. |

There is nothing wrong in charging people for your time if you don’t see a need to render a service for free.
If you can do it for free, awesome. If you can’t, then charge for your time.
If it were to be easy you won’t ask him to help you in the first instance.
The purpose of this thread is to get things done yourself, so if at any point you are reaching out to people to help you hunt for schools then the purpose has been defeated. |

I had typhoid, malaria, dysentery and fever. Every single thing about that jungle is odd. I did not taste their meal for once. Spent a lot of money feeding at Maami, but two weeks into the whole thing, I realized that the water they use in cooking the food at maami is from a flowing river.
Needless I say, that was the source of all the sickness I dealt with. |

What do you guys think please From what I’ve read here and on quora. They get really suspicious of you saying or presenting what is not requested. It’s considered a distraction and as such they’re trained to frown on such. They’re also very time conscious. So the quicker the better for them. I’ve never appeared for an interview so you might want to just read my contribution in passing. |

Your uncle can request for SOA from anywhere in the world. Softcopy can be mailed in seconds from bank. Hard copy can be shipped to anyone.
So what else is stopping you? Exactly what I suggested. Sigh |

Brown2Green: Like I do advice others having delays in their I20 delivery, contact the international office and request your Sevis ID and school code ( that's all you need to pay for your Sevis fee and proceed to the rest process)
This way, you can book before the arrival.
Some school even mails a soft copy of your I20 on request
So make the call right now . The fault is not from the school, my uncle won’t be around till mid June for the SOA I intend to use as proof of fund. That’s the cause of the delay. All I can do is wait and hope mid June won’t be too late. |
