honey86: I don't know about other provinces but in Manitoba, international students are not accepted into their nursing program because they already have a 3 years waitlist of citizens and permanent residents. Name of Sch in MB pls? I know some intl students who just got admitted into d BSN Prog. |

Nony1: Greetings all, I am a first class graduate of biochemistry from uniben and would love to apply for direct entry admission for ph.D In biochemistry and medical genetics In university of Manitoba through scholarship. Are there current students of unimanitoba here?? ? Please tell me more about scholarship in unimanitoba. Thanks BMG @ d UoM is a great one! Pretty difficult to get in if u don't have a Canadian Masters degree (writing from experience cuz some of my friends hv tried getting in) but there's no harm in trying. The good thing is once u get a supervisor, s/he writes FGS stating he's willing to pay u about $17k-$20k per year till u grad. Ur best bet will be to go for the Masters Prog first then fast track to PhD... Nevertheless, Look into trending cancer-related / genetic issues in d US, UK & Australia 2 stir up ur intellectual curiosity, package urself, grace up and write d profs accepting students!... All d best! |

ayooluwatoni: In my opinion, NO! Home tie is something that is so important to you that will compel you to return home after a short stay abroad. So now imagine, what is ur business with your dad's land? But if the ownership of the land has been transferred to you.....then it's ok! While I respect the fact that u started with the phrase 'in my opinion', I think family property docs should be included especially if u r being sponsored by ur parents, irrespective of existence of transfer of ownership docs. Furthermore, it's in d VOs hands to decipher what best defines home tie.. I included my fathers properties cuz they generate more funds for him than his regular job... #TheChoiceIsYoursProspectiveApplicants |

judnele: I was given sciences. It's like a pre professional course for medical school. Pre-medicine My thoughts exactly! Pls b aware that d same applies for nursing too, u ain't coming straight into d college of nursing, u'll be placed in U1 first (similar to sciences / pre-nursing class), if u perform excellently, then ur application to the College of Nursing will be considered... Guess it's d norm for medical courses @ undergrad level, so weigh both courses & ur passion well before deciding. Wishing u d best! |

thesoj: Also, doing some quick Google searches should help you narrow down schools. In addition, contact @Gu2015, he/she is a Nairalander starting a Mechanical Engineering PhD in Canada this fall; I found his/her Nairaland post on this thread by entering the search phrase " "mechanical engineering" phd canada nairaland" (without the the outermost inverted commas) into Google. You can find similar info through google as well. Best. Gu2015 is studying MPH @ University of Saskatchewan.. She posted that on behalf of someone |

Thanks to you, @Team12 (is this woman related to a VO? ), @hayqinzX, @TheBae, @justwise (this man should be a Visa Officer), @iyaEjima and people skipping my mind right now for their general contributions to the thread. Many of us (that are aren't as active) even benefit from your wealth of knowledge. And that was why I could teach my agent and later did everything myself without her.
God bless Nairalanders that are willing to share the little they know, have or think. I would love to be part of such company now. Congrats dear!! So happy for u. |

tnuola: Lmao.. The thing is funny self. Too much seriousness ontop the matter, when I'm still trying to decide which doc to add/subtract to/from my app. It's really funny cuz some times this border hype isn't so strict like it sounds.. My CBSA officer's first words to me was 'Hello Brown Sugar, welcome to Canada'.. That moment I just said to myself 'Ppl can hype shaaa' and loosened up.. smiled all tru with her when she checked up my profile, even asked for proof of tuition payment and I told her I left it in one of my bags... It is well shaa! Wishing u loads of grace dear in ur app. |

Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by IyaEjima(f): 8:52am On Aug 08, 2015 |
TheBae: It is against the rules. I'm not saying they can't take it but what if CBSA decides to bother them, they have to be prepared to have it all thrown in the trash or even get fined depending on how much contraband food that they have in the luggage. Not everyone's luggage is checked thoroughly by the customs, it's a random selection. Some are lucky to escape with it, some aren't. Even people here said all their Gala was thrown in the trash. Some people even get to smuggle milk in. The rules are the rules, you and your PR friend may not be so lucky next time. Or if you need more proof, you can declare your gala on your next trip and watch them throw it in the trash . I rest my case Calm down! No one is fighting with u.lol.. This ain't no law court.. After all u've said, d final decision lies in the hands of the traveller. |

kennykentipsy: I have a few questions for folks in Canada concerning accommodation
what does first and last month rent mean??
if a room is on 8 month's lease does it mean I have to pay for the 8months outright? and what ar the implications of lease.
I wanna understand this first before paying. thank you First and last month rent is a way of keeping u committed to d lease agreement, that is, u r assuring the landlord that u'll b der for d next 8 months.. However, if per adventure u leave d place before the date agreed upon, without proper dialogue/negotiation with ur landlord, d 'last month' rent may be withheld by d landlord. |

TheBae: You were not caught doesn't mean it's allowed Well, I didn't have to hide it. So it's not like I smuggled it in.. Besides I've a friend who's a PR and whenever she goes to naija she buys cartons of gala & loads them in a bag for her kids and CBSA has never questioned her for a day. |
