Adadama Community in Abi Local Government Area, Cross River State has called for the investigation of the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Ebony State, Honourable Chinedu Ogar for allegedly funding a border crisis between his community, Amagu and Adadama.

The allegation was contained in a position paper presented to the Deputy Governor of Cross River State and Chairman of the State Boundary Commission, Professor Ivara Esu.

The position of Adadama people was presented by His Royal Highness, Eval Nelson Agbomi, Lezekpakor VI of Adadama.

According to the community, “An investigation should be carried out to determine the alleged roles of Mr Chinedu Ogar and Barrister Celestine Igbele in the hiring of militants, procurement of ammunition, attacks and massacre of Adadama people.”

Appealing to the government to use appropriate machinery to stop these negative experiences the community asked for “A dedicated military squad should be stationed at Adadama-Ikwo border area.

“The damaged police station in Adadama should be rehabilitated and the mini-barracks should be expanded to accommodate more personnel.”

They suggested that the National Boundary Commission, NBC, should be requested to retrace the G G Shute boundary line

While the border crisis persists, the community asked the Local and State Governments to be more prompt in its response especially during encounters.

They also demanded, “Our people should be considered as internally displaced persons and rehabilitated as most of them can no longer fend for themselves.

“The families of casualties emanating from this conflict should be provided for, in terms of scholarship for their children and support for their widows/widowers

“Relief materials should be provided to Adadama community to alleviate the immediate suffering of the people
“Solar street lighting should be provided to improve visibility at night

“Appropriate authorities should, in the interest of peaceful co-existence, endeavour to make the citizens if Ikwo to keep off from Adadama farmlands, bushes, lakes, fish ponds and forests

“The NBC should use available evidences including the certified archival documents to re-trace the original ancient boundary of Mr. G G Shute.

“We will be very grateful if the Cross River State Government evolves measures to put an end to the threat from Amagu people which is glaringly aimed at extinction of Adadama community

“Lasting peace rests on NBC's transparent and impartial handling of the dispute,” Eval Agbomi submitted.

The extradition case was incompetent and should not have been filed in the first instance. Abba Kyari is already facing criminal prosecution in Nigeria. The right thing is to allow the case to be decided before making any other move. America will never discontinue a criminal case against an American because they want to hand them over to Nigeria.
