BlueRayDick: Where did u see 70k x 4 weeks? 😏
The job simply says 50-70k salary meaning the person will earn between 50k and 70k for a whole month.
While 70k might seem fair for a job that does not require any tertiary education qualification like B.sc or HND, the work hours is actually not so cool.
A typical work hours as recognized by international.labor organization is 40hours per week ( i. e 8 hours daily x 5 working days in a week.)This job however requires u to work 54 hours a week (i. e 9 hours daily x 6 working days in a week). I believe that is what Izzou is reacting to. Paying minimum wage for a job that requires one to work 14 extra hours weekly is actually cheating but like u rightly said, Naija na shiiit hole. If your pay is not going to be commensurate with the stress, at least compensate the person with time 6 days a week from 9am to 6pm? Lol If that Sales girl no find how to thief or chop your money, make I bend. |

Beorn: I didn't read the job description, I only saw Izzou's post, hence why I concluded from it. From the post it said the 70k was for a week, so when I times it by roughly 4 weeks that makes up a month, the amount is quiet reasonable.
But, however, I didn't know the number of hours the person was supposed to work was that much. People work longer than that number of hours in Naija and still earn paltry sums at the end of the month.
A friend of mine lives on the mainland & works on the island. The girl comes back roughly around 9pm on most days due to traffic depsite the office closing by 5pm and she leaves by 5:30am every day to meet up on time at work. She doesn't earn up to 150k a month. That offer is it not better than hers? It is a month, not a week. An error on my part. I don't know how 30k, 70k a month is good for someone that works 6 days a week, from morning to evening. I mean, you spend all the productive hours of your life a month for 2,900 a day. I would rather be a bus conductor, hawk Gala and Coke in traffic than do such a job... |

diggz: Exactly! People are actually detached from the reality that millions of others are facing around them. Just recently, I took one of my nieces to visit a family member somewhere in Mowe. She couldn’t believe that such a place exists in Nigeria, let alone in Lagos. As a matter of fact, when she saw goats running around freely on the streets and children playing shirtless and barefoot, she was astonished. This is someone in her 20s now. She’s earning good money and has travelled across the world as a child and now as an adult. But you could clearly see the surprise on her face. When I was coming back from Edo, we saw a farmer and his wife coming out of the bush with plantains. They sold all the harvest with them (6 big bunches), for 12,000. If you see the condition of these people,bros... I do not want to describe them in a degrading way, but bros, people dey go through a lot. They were happy to sell it at that price sef, because according to the wife, nobody go buy 6 bunches for village. Na only people wey dey go town fit buy all at once. |

diggz: @bolded Exactly!
Bro, trust me, that 10% is a generous figure.
Take yourself, for example. You travel a lot and have probably seen more areas in this country than I have. If you think about the everyday people you come across on your visits, do you really see many who have N160 million or are likely to have it in their lifetime based on what’s available to them today? Anybody staying in towns would assume the world revolves around there. Go to the villages. You go see person wey him net worth na 50k. No light for house, no TV or Fan, use firewood to cook, just have pots and plates, small Nokia torch phone, and his Cutlass and hoes. How this one wan see 1 million in 10 years? |

BlueRayDick: That's his problem, he's judging situation of things from the few people he knows.
We have shown him stats that includes a large sample size that is all encompassing but he's refused to budge and just chose to stick to his own personal view. He's trying to use his own personal view to see things in general. Na why I dey laugh when I was seeing figures here and there. 160 million is large, and there are many educated, working class Nigerians that won't see such in their lifetime. Na big boys dey earn 500k a year. A person earning averagely 200k nko? And these set of earners are most in the corporate world Even traders sef. It is very easy to see a business guy buying cars and doing quite well..But for every one, almost 50 are still struggling. I think Perception here is the problem. |

I think Swiz is judging Nigeria solely based on his circle.
Even if you count all the Lexus and Warehouses and business men, these people do not even make up to 10% of those that will see 160 million oh.
Maybe 10% is little, but it is definitely not as high as you guys are painting it. |

Theflint1: GIG has one of the worst services in the world, there's an almost 90% chance that the bus would breakdown in the course of the journey, you'd get stuck in the middle of nowhere, and if you're lucky be shipped to one of their other buses after like 2hrs. They should just face their logistics business jeje. E be like say na juju dem take hold their customers. I agree with you. Logistics is what they are currently good at. |

diggz: Abeg, Izzou, I need your help here because I know you’re in the transport industry. Could you please let us know the estimated weekly or monthly earnings after these people (keke riders or bolt/uber drivers) make after their weekly returns? I’m not talking about the defaulters, ooooo…. For Keke riders, the delivery is dependent on the route, and the repayment package (Rental or HP) I really can't say, but I believe it will be difficult for a Keke guy to hit 100k in a week (Gross) But for Uber, absolutely Yes. If the driver knows his onions, he can make 100k or more weekly. Another factor to note is these profits are seasonal. Some days, you go manage carry 5k go house. Some, you go cash out. |
