“It was not Davido’s music that lynched Deborah Yakubu, and continues to frustrate the cause of justice. Nor has it contributed to the arbitrary detention of religious dissenters – call them atheists or whatever – such as Mubarak Bala, now languishing in prison for his 38th month
Omoapena: A fatal accident just occurred under Anthony bridge, avoid that route as it’s about to get seriously blocked and also avoid taking Eko bridge to the island, it’s seriously blocked from barracks bus stop….
These were the kind of gists we used to see here, once upon a time!
Conner44: Well at least the UK once advertised . . . I just wanted IFSHR have that at the back of his mind for future reference
Now i also understood what dapo said perfectly. I just wanted to also point out that he can't use his own personal situation to mirror others here. We are all different individuals from different backgrounds trying to make ends meet one way or the other.
Many people who carry phones and log into nairaland daily aren't graduates like him or even have the time of day to open new books to read up trying to learn new skills on the fly. Some are also having some psychological issues that could hamper their cognitive ability to read, comprehend and assimilate written directions properly.
Take for instance omoapena. We all know he has a hp contract on his neck and has been coming to this thread weekly making cryptic posts that show he's struggling with his chosen hustle. Remember that unlike dapo the vehicle isn't his yet, also maybe he's married with wife(ves) and kids to feed, rent, medical and inflated fees to pay etc, now tell me what time he can carve out of his already tight daily schedule to learn a new skill without affecting his ability to cater for him and his families daily well being and also remit his weekly contractual stipend towards the hp agreement he currently has on his neck? I feel for him that's why anytime he cries I always reply even if he dismisses my help. I know he has a bird in hand but others want him to drop it and dive headfirst into the bush in search of more. I want him to master this hustle so he can pay off his hp agreement and move onto it her things ASAP.
I also attempted learning data analysis as omoapena is planning to do. I joined up with a class that was advertised here on this same thread a while ago. I went three-quarters of the way but had to drop off because it clashed with many things I had going on at the time. The knowledge is still there but I don't have it completely. It wasn't easy at all to learn it to the point I reached before life paused my education in that aspect. Will I learn further? Yes of course, but I will need time and calm to face it squarely to achieve perfection. Someday soon I hope.
I am a man that likes to try my hands at numerous businesses as far I have the capital and ability to control its dynamics. Yes I still have a desk job but I also import and trade goods, render specialized services which I charge for and create employment opportunities for people when I can. Unlike my dad, i will not work at my desk until my retirement age no matter the pay I receive. That life won't be mine. Stanbic pensions still pays me but how much? I see their alerts and emails and smile. It's nothing compared to what my friends earn daily running their own businesses. I go to the market and visit a friend and have to wait for his accounts manager to finish a meeting with him before I can go into his office to say hi. He never worked for anyone in his life except when he understudied his business. He is a simple trader. Buying and selling. I want to become like him real soon by the grace of God.
So izzou all I'm trying to day is that when nairaland first began, everything was centered at a place and people plus information was thrown everywhere. Thankfully seun in his wisdom decided to carve out sections and threads for specific knowledge to be gained. This thread here is for those who want to perfect their skills in ehailing in lagos . . . I am pleading for those who have other things going for them to at least allow people like omoapena and other uneducated peeps to achieve the aim of this thread before forcing them out of the nest while they haven't perfectly learnt how to fly.
There are sections for learning programming, agriculture, phone repairs, sales etc. rigjtvhere on nairaland. So why can't we allow this thread and its knowledge breathe for the sakes of those here and the ones to come
If you see someone doing something better than you please ask questions and seek understanding. Don't fight against it. Nobody know everything not even Einstein did.
Abeg my desk don full make I face my work before m6 bald headed oga catch me on phone I will still piss on his head I'm just watching for when rain is also falling so he won't pinpoint the source of his warm forehead when it happens
I no even know where to start sef
BlueRayDick: As in.... Governor wey hold civil servants promotion letters of 2021 and 2022 get mind to list release of those letters a year and two years as part of palliative to subsidy removal. So if there was no subsidy removal he could as well hold their promotion letters for as long as possible . smh
He even owes leave bonuses of March and April 2023 to the workers. Funny enough, the people will have no choice but to celebrate this "great announcement "
I don't even know how we were created as human. That memo is enough to burn his tenure to the ground
You were the governor since 2019, but you get mind use 2021 promotion list as pallatives
Segedinho: Maybe I am being biased by viewing it from an emotional lens, but,I think there are some qualities that the said cleaner must have possesed wch isn't really uniformed with a "just cleaner" b4 he/she can be employed by osho.
In all honesty, trusting someone with your apartment (home) of a famous person comes with a greater responsibility than others..
If you earn 1m per month and as a result can't perform some home chores like cleaning...what do you think is reasonable to pay someone to do it,bearing in mind that this person has access to almost every part of your home even when you are absent for a long period.
you are dragging him because 65k is small, then almost every billionaire and multi million should be on your list.
From our pastors, to philanthropist, politicians, i dont think they are many that pay a cleaner above 100k
Remember it is just a cleaner. There would be more cleaners, chefs and cooks, sous chef, nannies if there are kids.
Do the maths and he would be spending millions on paying salaries of house helps, excluding security.
Truly, it is your emotions bro. In Nigeria, 65k for a job of 25k is not bad
Not up to a year ago the UK was still advertising for drivers to come from overseas to fill up their shortages after their brexit palava. If you didn't see such adds I'm sure others did.
Now you could come up with a technicality that it was strictly truck & trailer drivers that were needed but the fact forever remains that driving is a skill period.
Asides from the UK, tell us another country that is advertising for drivers?
You understood the man's point. Why you want to twist it is what i want to find out.
Segedinho: Anything less than 100k is not okay....
A 60k has no effect whatsoever in the life of such a cleaner who is viewed as being lucky to have access to Osho..
People working for u as an individual(billionaires) are viewed differently from those working in an organisation cos they are relatively close to you than mere visitors
So because you work for a billionaire, you must earn big money?
Anyways, this cleaner is earning big money too.
Compared to 20k for cleaners, she's earning 65k.
So, in the circle of cleaners, he/she is viewed differently.
Pearl1910: Do u remember probability? In a bag of 100 Red balls and 100 blue balls d probability of picking a red ball when u pick one ball is higher than if there are 70 red balls in d bag. The more u reduce the odd, d slimmer the chance of getting the variable.
The goal is to reduce your risk as much as u can, we aren't saying we can eliminate the risk completely but u can reduce it by striking out bad chances.
I will not agree if u say we should be carefree or careless and live our lives on d edge, anytime bad chances comes it will come, no matter how careful or no matter the precaution. I hear u but I don't agree.
The same UK that i want to come and be picking money on the streets, is where these ones are saying 1 in 4 Brits are living in poverty?
BlueRayDick: Na true sha . Shebi he lost his election bid this 2023, he’s probably trying to stay relevance in the politics of his state so when the next election cycle comes it will be recorded for him that he stood up for the mob when it matters most . Smh 🤦♂️
Yes naa
Na a very good way to write your name into their good books
BlueRayDick: But there are videos of Arab Muslims vibing to even worldly songs on the internet na ? Which kind Islam those northern Nigerian folks dey practise sef ?
If those people take speaking up against bad leadership serious like they took religion wahala , perhaps Nigeria will be better developed than some Arab countries sef .
I usually do not blame the uneducated ones amongst them but the educated elites like that Bashir Ahmed should be ashamed of themselves .
Ashamed ke?
He needs the followership of the Northern mob. Anything that would turn them against him cannot be entertained, even if it is common sense.
Remember when Atiku tweeted a condemnation of Deborah's gruesome murder, only to delete it afterwards?
Itsrm: Bolt has no serious record of its riders. Policemen are for the most part useless and when they are not, they require a lot of inducement to even do their job. Driving on any platform is a high risk job.
Since you know all these, what will it take you to take necessary precaution? Picking unknown passengers late into the night is a very risky and foolish move.
If anyone here still does that, now is the time to stop. You may not be lucky next time. Even if your life is not valuable to you, at least pity the people you'll be leaving behind
"At least, pity the people you'll be leaving behind"
This is enough reason for anyone avoid such risk
CheerfulGiver: he thinks he's subtly shading me while abandoning every modicum of common sense left.
Even devil dey quote bible. Proverbs 22 vs 3
Even legitimate online trips that drivers get at night, they scrutinise it thoroughly
You dont like the rider's face? You cancel You dont like how they are wasting your time? You cancel You don't like the fact they are 3 men? You cancel.
Then someone goes to a notorious busstop and randomly picks 3 unknown passengers, and you are encouraging people to do good?
Which kind goodness pass to stay alive for your wife and children?
