What I'm saying is what the guy has said himself. Why would Yoruba teachers (the common practice) punish students for their mother tongue (vernacular)?
They prefer students speak English most times while in school. Chemistry, Physics and Biology textbooks are written in English Do you expect the teacher to start interpreting it in Yoruba? Or they should use Yoruba to teach English language? Did you also consider that the class is usually mixed too? |

A001: I never said Yoruba teenagers don't speak Yoruba. But English is the primary language.
Those teenagers you said consider English as the best language in the world and a sure sign of civilization, and even the older ones too. Na wetin I dey talk be that I think the issue with language is determined by where you find yourself; the kind of people in your community. English is the most accepted, and what everybody understands. So in a community where you have Igbos, Deltans, Efiks, Hausa, etc, the ideal language you should speak is English. Anything short of this may come out offensive, or make you the odd one. But i don't think you should translate that to them not taking pride in adopting their language. It's mostly determined by where they live |

Go to Abeokuta, Ota, Sagamu and Co and you'll barely hear English or even Pidgin. Ekiti.....? Like seriously..... LMFAO. Both Ekiti and Ondo find joy in their dialects like Ijebus and Egbas in Ogun State.
Its only in Lagos, and not every part sef. An average Yoruba kid in secondary school will confidently converse with you in Yoruba if you switch. Even the ajebo ones sef can do it. |

A001: As I said before, only Yorubas in Oyo and Osun states mainly take the Yoruba culture seriously.
Those in other states such as Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti prefer mainly conversing in English than in Yoruba and prefer the ways of the West.
The transatlantic slave trade made the Yoruba culture known in countries like Brazil, Cuba, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal, and the US. When slave trading was being practised in Africa before the 19th century, Western education hadn't been introduced Western education into Yorubaland.
Western education was introduced in Yorubaland in the 19th century by the British missionaries, after GB abolished slave-trading.
So, those Yorubas that took the Yoruba culture abroad during the slave-trading era weren't educated using the Western system of education.
Get your facts right. Do you have your facts on this? Because i sometimes (if not more), have to tell them i am not Yoruba, so they can switch to English |

A001: Football is alien to Islam and the Arab culture. Traditionally and fundamentally, it's haram (unlawful) in the religion, and many Islamic scholars preach against Muslims engaging in it.
Even many erudite scholars in Saudi, the home of Islam, criticize their country's participation in it.
I believe Qatar is the erring party here.

Well, i think that's a general issue with all tribes. Igbos far from home don't take pride in cultures, as much as those in the East too The same goes for the North too. I have great respect for people that take pride in their culture and traditions. That's one reason I love the Ibos as well. I think it depends on where you live. Donjazet2: Ive always said you were very disingenuous. Why didn't you paste the post that nihilist reacted to and tell us how it concerned him??
Prosper made absolutely no reference whatsoever to nihilist but nihilist being the German shepherd he is once his master's name is called decided to tae it up with prosper and surprise surprise, you're calling out only one party.
Why are you not calling out the person who started the beef between both of them. If it was dayo that responded and you were now cautioning prosper, that would be understandable. But here you are, because of fear of nihilist, avoiding him and calling out the other. I am trying to protect Prosper from whatever issues you have always had with Nihilist I didn't say there was not an issue. I clearly said it did not involve him. You know that, but you definitely enjoyed the company. I'm not here to debate or defend when you and Nihilist begins. I just wanted an innocent guy to stay out of it. The crux of the matter LiveLong brought up was not about him being broke shamed, it was about him calling raum out for some of his statements even tho he can't measure up to him in terms of financial standing..
U ignored the point he was trying to make from the beginning and made it about him being brokeshamed.. What was the point he was trying to make Ans: That because one is broke doesn't mean he can't call out the rich Who is the Broke one and the Rich one? Ans: DonJ vs Nihilist and Dayo. His stance from the beginning was that cos someone is rich that does not mean the person should not be called out when he/she makes callous statements. Since when you have been calling dayo or nihilist out, did they ever call you broke? When Donj first started showing Dayo's tribal posts, a lot of people reacted on these streets. I can't remember Dayo calling anyone broke. Maybe you can show us where anybody was brokeshamed for calling out anybody here |

Anybody old enough on this thread could see through that. The matter was never your business. I have just reminded that until yesterday, i have not seen anybody brokshame you or me or anyone in Nigeria.
