The ethnic groups in Rivers state know that Biafra is going to be a federation of groups quasi independent of the central government. Develop more sense.

The Igbo false dimension

I know I am treading on a dangerous path that may precipitate my crucifixion by my own kinsmen. As the saying goes, conscience is an open wound and only truth can heal it. I am Igbo, but I will not shield my people of any malfeasance. The Igbo race just needs to come to grips with the painful reality of issues concerning it. The locus of this piece is not to join the racial debate which seems to have reached a parabolic diminuendo between the Igbo and the Yoruba, but to throw up some issues of which gravitas cannot be wished away.

It is an indubitable fact, that an unenviable percentage of crimes committed in Nigeria are committed by people of the Igbo mould. I know, this is disappointing coming from an Igbo person. But it is the truth. Our crime records show that some unscrupulous Igbo constitute the majority in the denizens of criminals in Nigeria. It is saddening, but this is a reality we the Igbo have to accept and deal with. Consequently, the Igbo I hate are those Igbo people who know the truth regarding Igbo criminality in Nigeria, but suppress it in the name of Igbo nationalism. Instead of adding their voices to the war against crime, and devising intelligent schemas to curb the menace of armed robbery and kidnapping in the South East and Nigeria in general, they go on a campaign of diatribes and vicious aspersions smearing the purveyor of truth and his message. It is just unfortunate that we the Igbo have chosen to ignore the dastardly acts and crimes committed by our Igbo brothers and sisters in Nigeria.

Concomitantly, it is an incontrovertible fact that ninety per cent of the purveyors of fake drugs in Nigeria are Igbo. This is a truth that we the Igbo try to brush aside as false or as another cryptic criminal profiling of the Igbo by other nationalities in Nigeria. It is sickening that the Igbo despise any of their own who goes all out to stop the criminality of their money “mongering” ilk. The same fate applies to any Igbo person who dares to take a different and unpopular stand in a matter at the provenance of Igbo existence. Professor Dora Akunyili comes to mind. When she embarked on that glorious war to rid Nigeria of fake drugs she knew the culprits were her own people. This informed her descending on the purveyors of death at Bridge Head Onitsha which was a constellation portal for big time fake drug merchants. What did she get for it? She lost the senatorial election! Not that her crackdown on Igbo death merchants was the sole reason she lost the election, but it was a seminal factor in determining her electoral fate. Suffice it to say that when she was battling with fake drug merchants, some Igbo people opined that she was nursing a vendetta while some posited she was pursuing a Yoruba agenda to cripple Igbo businesses. Again, some Igbo people quipped that after doing all her “gra-gra” she would come home and meet them. That they would be waiting for her. As stated earlier, this partly underscores the deal she got at the senatorial election. And also the assassination attempt on her. She did not get the accolades of her own people! In that vein, the Igbo I hate are those Igbo people, who for the sake of filthy lucre turn a blind eye to criminal Igbo businesses; who believe that any business is kosher as long as you can get enough money from it to build an “Akpu-la-Akpu” (an imposing edifice that shows your status as wealthy) in your village.

There is no doubt that inordinate hankering for wealth by the Igbo is at the heart of Igbo criminality. The baby factories are all an invention of some bad elements in the Igbo fold. Also many Nigerians languishing in jails abroad, most especially in Malaysia, China, Thailand and a host of other foreign countries are majorly of the Igbo extraction. The documentary “Nigerians Jailed in China” by Channels TV adds verisimilitude to this claim. This is grievous and opprobrious enough for the Igbo to ratiocinate and cogitate on how to stem the drift of Igbo youths into crime instead of cutting down anyone who speaks unkindly of the Igbo in this vista. The mad craving for making money at all cost which seems now to be endorsed by the Igbo culture should be pooh-poohed. More credence and goodwill should be given to those who work hard for their money, and to those who do not have much, but have sterling academic credentials and knowledge on which the race can build and grow.

Finally, the Igbo I hate are those Igbo people who cry for Biafra at the drop of a hat when there is a matter of national consequence. They are the huge miscellany of Igbo people whose investments are in other parts of Nigeria. Ninety per cent of them (the investments)! And who when you ask them to move their businesses to their homeland, they tell you that it (the South East) is not viable or good for business. Yet at every given time they cry for Biafra. What hypocrisy!

We the Igbo need to come down to earth with our problems of which criminality is the most daunting. As said earlier, we must transmogrify the culture of money “mongering” and condemn criminality in all forms for we seem to be topping the list of criminals in Nigeria. After all said and done, I remain a bonafide Igbo man for truth.

THE IGBO FALLACY

In my previous didactic, tart, and dispassionate polemic entitled “The Igbo False Dimension: The Igbo I Hate” I adumbrated, exposited and espoused the tendentious logic of vehement and sustained rise in Igbo criminality in Nigeria. The piece extracted venoms from the fangs of “Igbo nationalists”. I was torpedoed with a fusillade of contumelies instead of seasoned, disciplined counterpoints by seemingly bruised Igbo people. My “Igboness” was excoriated and called into question and opprobrium. Let me reiterate here, that I am Igbo, but I will not out of blind, cowardly and defeated ethnic nationalism earthen the malfeasance and failings of my people. The burning truth will always consume the cold, easy lie.

In truth, the gruesome, senseless and depressingly cold murder of a Nigerian of Igbo fount in India, and the ceaseless profusion of crimson Hindustan xenophobic outrages towards Nigerians vivify curious ponderings, somber, sober reflections and unkind truths about the sojourning Igbo. About forty thousand Nigerians live in India. Of this number, a vast queue of Igbo persons constitutes an irrepressible, but unimpressive quota. That is, the Igbo are in the majority stratum of Nigerian sojourners in India. It is therefore in the remit of unbiased logic to aver that a majority of Nigerians who commit crimes for which all law abiding Nigerians share in condign comeuppance in India are Igbo. It is also on the threshold of verifiable truth that gross proportions of Igbo Nigerians in India are wired and prodded by survivalist propensities, and as such can do anything beyond the cloud of kosher to drag on their existence. Consequently, the piercing hollering of Indians that Nigerians in their country are criminals may be the unfortunate, lachrymal truth.

Arguably, the reason for Igbo sojourning to even the remotest of places in the world has been attributed to their much vaunted entrepreneurial spirit. As a matter of fact, the claim that Igbo sojourning is driven by an atavistic entrepreneurial proclivity is enclosed between pressing, meaty layers of fallacy like the entrails of burger between fluffy loaves. Inasmuch as the “entrepreneurial sojourning” thread cannot be utterly pooh-poohed, it is judicious to explore other reasons why the Igbo are seemingly peripatetic sojourners. First, in Igbo ethology, it is a cringing evil for an Igbo man or woman to commit a “stigmatized” crime (Alu) such as armed robbery at home. This is not an obviation of abhorrent crimes committed at home by some unabashed Igbo criminals. The truth is the “home” Igbo criminals are a hopeless and shameless horde whose self esteem and sense of shame are terribly at nadir, and as a result purvey crimes at home. Inter alia, for any stigmatized crime committed at home there is a stern reprimand implicit in cleansing of the crime. The sacerdotal process of cleansing the land of a crime or an abomination is called “Ikpu Alu”. However, “Ikpu Alu” (cleansing of abominations) does not extend its sacred arm of cleansing and reprehension to crimes committed by Igbo sons and daughters in places outside the Igbo picturesque dome. It is therefore not surprising if some Igbo persons commit heinous crimes in obverse places, and come back home to receive chieftaincy titles. As a matter of fact, in some morally weak Igbo communities it is a brave thing to traffic in hard drugs. Drug barons are gleefully celebrated as Ndi kara Obi (lion-hearted people). Such is the pantomime of the Igbo and crimes.

Going by the stated point, it is therefore indubitable to posit that an unenviable number of self-conscious Igbo persons with innate criminal manuals travelled outside the Igbo enclave to peddle crimes. This confutes the general idea that the sojourning of the Igbo is driven solely by entrepreneurial inclinations and motives. To a large extent, the sojourning of some Igbo people is driven by a morbid aim of shielding their evil trades from the peering eyes of their kinsmen. Their names are protected as long as they do not traffic in crimes at home. The important thing is to be successful at crimes abroad; successful enough to build vulgar mansions at home and throw lazy cash about.

To animate my argument further, what is the entrepreneurial inclination or motive of the Igbo in India, Malaysia, Vietnam and other Asian countries peddling drugs? Is the entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo only revivified abroad or outside Igbo land? Why should the Igbo entrepreneurial spirit find its host cozily and lopsidedly outside Igbo land? Is there a marriage between Igbo criminality all across the world and Igbo entrepreneurial genome? These are questions that defeat the long, tired argument of Igbo entrepreneurial “peripatetism.”

The fact is the “entrepreneurial” beat up logic and reason for Igbo sojourning is a bored excuse.

Analogously, Igbo sojourning atavism is also effectuated by pride, ego and vanity. A typical Igbo person will want to prove he is successful in anyway. It is wickedly mortifying to be seen as poor or struggling in Igbo land. This underscores the reason many Igbo persons smuggle themselves out of Nigeria, and because it is thought that any person in Obodo Oyibo (white man’s country) or even anywhere outside Igbo land is “doing well”. Those Igbo persons who are “cursed” to be in Igbo land are seen as struggling and as such do not deserve the courtesy of admiration and respect. It is a proud thing for an Igbo father to say, “All my children are abroad”; even when the abroad is Gabon. Such a father courts the respect, envy and admiration of other fathers in Igbo land. Again, it is a proud thing for an Igbo person to be far away from home. It gives him a mysterious air of importance. The Igbo value more their people who are not in Igbo land than their people who are in unenviable propinquity. This is the Igboawful linkage between Igbo sojourning and base vanity.

In all, there are Igbo persons in the scrawny good number whose sojourn in foreign countries is not tainted by any evil intent or base vanity, but it is a bleeding fact the singular Igbo entrepreneurial logic for sojourning is one big smorgasbord of fallacy.

THE IGBO CRIME CULTURE

In the sweltering heat of a serial lynching and killing of Igbo citizens in Asia in 2013, I wrote an article entitled, ‘The Igbo fallacy’. In it, I appealed to the Igbo to de-emphasise the culture of profligacy, decadent opulence, debauchery and vanity which fuels the pursuit of crime by their own.

I am compelled to revivify the article here, but with a few adjustments. I say it again; the Igbo take the inglorious front row in certain crimes – drug peddling, armed robbery and kidnapping – at home and abroad.

In August 2016, an Igbo drug dealer was guillotined in Indonesia. But his funeral in Anambra was a shin-dig of celebrations. He was even described as a “hero” by his kinsmen.

Once again, an Igbo kidnapping lord, who unleashed barbarity and savagery on many Nigerians, has steadied attention on the “special” crime proclivities of the ethnic group. I will not dwell on this; I will zero in on Igbo criminality abroad, and take a slight detour home.

As a matter of fact, a good number of Igbo youth in Asia are into crime. It was reported sometime in the year that the India police said all Nigerians – Igbo, of course – in their country were drug dealers. Although, this is questionable, it cannot be entirely repudiated.

Arguably, the reason for Igbo sojourning – to even the remotest of places in the world – has been attributed to their much vaunted entrepreneurial spirit. The truth is that this claim is enclosed in heavy, meaty layers of fallacy like the entrails of burger.

Inasmuch as the “entrepreneurial sojourning” thread cannot be utterly pooh-poohed, it is judicious to explore other reasons why the Igbo are peripatetic. First, in Igbo ethology, it is a cringing evil for a native, man or woman, to commit a “stigmatised” crime (Alu) such as armed robbery, drug-dealing, etc at home. This is not an obviation of abhorrent crimes committed at home by some unabashed Igbo criminals. The truth is, the “home” Igbo criminals are a hopeless and shameless horde whose self esteem and sense of shame are terribly at their nadir, and as a result purvey crimes at home. The important thing is to be successful in crimes abroad; successful enough to build vulgar mansions at home and throw lazy cash about.

To animate my argument further, what is the entrepreneurial inclination or motive of the Igbo in India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, and other countries peddling drugs? Is the entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo only awakened abroad? Why should the Igbo entrepreneurial spirit find its host cozily and lopsidedly outside Igbo land? Is there a marriage between Igbo criminality across the world and Igbo entrepreneurial genome? These are questions that defeat the long, tired argument of Igbo entrepreneurial “peripatetism.”

THIS IS TOO FUNNY, FIRSTLY JIM OVIA IS AN AGBOR MAN WITH ROOTS IN EDO STATE (LIKE THE MAJORITY OF TRUE AGBOR FAMILIES). NOTE THAT THERE IS THE RIVER OVIA IN EDO STATE AND OVIA LGA.

IKA PEOPLE AND IBOS ARE POLES APART, WE HAVE LITTLE CULTURALLY IN COMMON; THE FACT THAT WE ARE A HYBRID CULTURE OF MAJORITY EDO, BINI, YORUBA, IDALA AND SOME IBO SETTLERS DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO PLAY YOUR EXPANSIONIST GAMES. SOME HAVE IBO FIRST NAMES, BUT LOOK AT THEIR SURNAMES. WHAT DOES IRABOR MEAN IN IBO? OKOWA? GBENOBA? SO WHAT IF OGBEMUDIA'S MOTHER WAS IGBANKE? IGBANKE ARE NOT IBO.

OKORO GO AND REST.

destiny35:
This is some of the reasons people were denied history in Nigeria Educational curriculum, by Nigeria govt.

IGBO IN NON-SOUTH EASTERN STATES OF THE FEDERATION

RIVERS STATE
1) Egbema
2) Ecthe
3) Omuma
4) Ndoni
5) Ikwerre
6) Ekpeye
7) Obigbo
 Opobo
9) Ogba

EDO STATE
10) Igbanke/Igboakiri
In fact most people do not even know that Arch Bishop Benson Idahosa and his wife are Igbo from Igbanke in Uhuonde Local Government area of EDO state that was formerly in Orhionwon LGA .
The mother of the late Samuel Odaigbovo Ogbemudia is Igbanke!
Most indigenes of this town just like Ika people bear hybrid names that most often could just jolly well pass as EDO because of their names like Nduka Irabor, Jim Ovia, Omorogie Nwawanne, Collins Edumaruse etc

DELTA STATE
11). Ika
12) Ndokwa
13) Ukwuani
14) Aniocha
15) Oshimili

BAYELSA STATE
16) Osekwenike, Abuetor and Eke Okpokri villages, all in Sagbama area of bayelsa, are all Igbo of Ukwuani stock, and as such, are of the Anioma igbo clan of the Igbo ethnic group in BAYELSA

CROSS RIVER STATE
17) ISOBO , even liyl imoke former CR governor and wife are igbos from ABI LGA - CROSS RIVER

AKWA IBOM STATE
18) Ikot Udo Ika in Ika Local Government area of Akwa Ibom is an Igbo community.

BENUE STATE
19)The Igbos in Benue State particularly those in Ado, Oju, Obi and Okpoku LGAs of the state were in existence before the advent of Christian religion in Nigeria.
The Igbo found in Benue are: Umuezeokoha, Umuezeoka, Oriuzor, Umuoghara, Amaekka and Amaezekwe all in Ezza communities, Izzi, Ezzamgbo and Effium, these are the people who would have been in present-day Ebonyi State but due to the fact that the Nigerian government then carved them into Benue in order to suppress the population of the East.

Apart from the Ezza-speaking clan, particularly the people of Umuezeokoha that has over 300 villages, if you are to calculate the number of Igbo-speaking villages in Benue State, outside Umuezeokaoha, you would be talking altogether about over 600 villages. Three of the biggest markets in Benue are all in the Igbo-speaking part.
The markets are Inikiri Ichari, Iddah, Iduokpe.
There are also some Igbo speaking Idoma towns in Benue State.

KOGI STATE
20) THE indigenouse Igbo-speaking communities in Kogi state especially in Ibaji and Igalamela/Odolu LGAs are Eke Avurugo community, such as Nwajala, Umuoye, Ubulie-Umuez, ozara, and umuoye and many more.

Acidiously:

Oga go and sit down. South south is BIAFRA land not alaIgbo. Why are you guys so wicked and hatred oriented? Do you know how it feels when you'd go to Agbor and see someone speaking fluent Igbo that you can comprehend, has a full Igbo name, but at that same instance deny being Igbo because of what he's been reading on the news about Igbo.
At the very beginning it felt really bad but when we realized they wouldn't renege on what they believed, we accepted it.
If we told you before now that; Don jazzy, Tonto Dike, Linda Ikeji, emefiele, Jim ovia, Peter Odili, Duncan mighty were Igbos, you'd nearly curse us to death. Instead of you to tell us what tribe they are, you'd rather prefer to tell us their states of origin. You guys are so wicked!!!!

How sure are you that the person you are referring to is igbo? And where did you conduct your research to come to the conclusion that such attitude is widespread in igboland?

IN WHAT WAY ARE THEY IBO?
Politics / Re: Aisha Buhari Assembles 12 Billionaires For Her Book Launch by Jackonory: 2:52am On Apr 06, 2021
HOW IS JIM OVIA IBO?

Dikaveli:
it will interest you to know igbo has more billionaires than any tribe but in the list mentioned above

Note that tony elumelu
Jim ovia
Arthur Eze are all igbos

So next time

Know of the names
Ibeto
Innoson
Alien Onyema
Arthur nzeribe
Obijackson
Orjiakor
Pascal dozie
Emeka offor
Peter obi
Samuel onyesi
Guo okeke
Young shall grow
ABC
Chisco

Even young lads like obi cubana
Jowizaza
E money

And one honest thing about igbos is that in any town there's a billionaire there must be 200 millionaires there.

We are not those tribes that have 3 billionaires and others eat from hand to mouth some even from ground to mouth

Awada onitsha
Nkpor onitsha
Even your Lagos edifice will tell you that Igbos are not dulling

We are classic men
