Hi, I would suggest @okoji ( whose visa was rejected that she may not return afterwards) engage the services of an immigration lawyer not consultants....use google to check ones with best reviews. They can review your docs and even appeal your case in a federal court. Secondly, with the rate of denial, am thinking ppl should "buy" medical insurance as an added bonus to what u are paying/ depositing to hospitals. The logic behind it is medical insurance can cover from $25k to $100k or more. If the embassy see u have bought private medical insurance and u have a strong account bal after u mist have paid advance to the hospital, am sure u will be granted visa. ( just my thots will try it next year though) Someone from the UK last year I know bought med insurance of $500 got into Canada and had an emergency... She was rushed to a hospital and the insurance paid for everything cause she had early labor. Thing is many private insurance won't cover maternity costs like prenatal and childbirth... But if u have an emergency and need attention to deliver, it covers it.... Except someone that understands how it works can educate me pls.[/quote] |

Dear VO As a follow up to your last response, i have 4 questions, please. my wife reapplied for a B1/B2 visa today 29th March and was denied again. Even Though none of her medical receipts nor letters from doctors was reviewed this time unlike the last interview First. can she change her visa type from B1(tourist) to B2(medical) in her next application? Because the VO today said to her twice that she was given tourist visa and she instead went to give birth(and she explained about her change of intent email she sent to the embassy)- ( Though you said that is a statement after the fact) even when you say (from your last response) that birth tourism is legal and she actually paid all her fees and has letters from her doctors stating that she didnt benefit from any government aid and was self pay Second.A colleague of yours told her she has been interviewed by all consular officers in Abuja, what happens if question 1 is yes, can she reapply in Abuja again or go through lagos? Third, in reapplying as many times as possible, what is the implication and how does one actually know why a visa was denied, so as to make amends? Fourth: is she applying for the wrong visa? Thank you Regards abujaniv: |
Eventough I expected more from your reply, I guess its standard procedure. Thank you anyways. abujaniv: |
Dear VO. My wife gave birth in the US twice with a visitor's visa. She did the first Dropbox and was called in for an interview which she went for. After a series of questions, she was asked for various receipts for payments made to the hospital and docrors which she presented. The VO then asked for her old passport which was in her maiden name and asked her to resubmit both passports for a 2nd dropbox only for her to be denied the visa. Now I ask, why the long procedure and she was eventually denied? Why didn't they just deny her either after the 1st dropbox and/or interview? what are the likely reasons for her being denied the visa? what are the chances of getting a visa now if she applies for a new one and begin the process afresh with an interview? Warm Regards. |
abujaniv:Thank you VO. i took out time to do a little research here and I stumbled upon this link below http://www.floridahealthfinder.gov/CompareCare/CompareFacilities.aspx?ProdLine=149&AgeGroup=1 just so you know that some hospitals/birth centers are cheaper than the average quoted in the "bbc" article. NCH in Naples Florida which was what my wife used has an average of $7, 569 ( Its birthing center but we paid for an obgyn and pediatrician separately who are affiliated with the hospital) information purposes only |
Dear Admin. I have a few questions. My wife submitted her passport for dropbox and was asked to come in for an interview. she made two visits to the US with the first visa to give birth writing to the embassy email address informing them of her intent which you say here does not matter so much since she wrote a change of intent after the fact I wish to know the likely documents that may be required for this scheduled interview? Even Though she didnt receive government aid nor any form of financial aid to pay her bills, is there need for a letter from the gynaecologist stating that she paid in full and didnt receive any aid? ( a different thread, " Give Birth in USA" mentioned that people were denied visa because they got discounts from their hospital of choice) Is there an expedited process of choosing a date for this interview because the closest date am seeing is 7th of March please advise. |

temyb:Good to know they are doing well cause that is more important. My wife's sister in law's baby was in ICU too but incurred $40,000.A church came to her rescue after the hospital contacted them. they paid everything I know some hospitals have financial aid scheme for rare cases like this. in the mean while, you have to get busy with the internet. google is your best friend. search and start sending emails or set up AP with charity organisations that can assist you. or you sign up for "crowd" funding (google it)and allow ppl on the internet, worldwide contribute. Hope this helps, its not over yet. |
happytbaby:Ok. noted again. thanks |
