Foreign Affairs / Re: Fifteen US States File Petition To Secede From The United States by jajaopobo(m): 7:39am On Nov 12, 2012
They said the titanic was so advanced that even God can't sink it. It sank very cheaply! Napoleon thought he was the greatest and his empire was indestructible. He died without a heir and his entire empire was split among strangers. The influence of the Roman, Greco and British empires were just as great if not greater than that of the US today yet they are no more.
Be careful when man starts to say something he has created is too advanced to fail, then it just might do so. Be it a democratic system, an ideology or whatever, man's creation can never be perfect and is never indestructible!! The USA CAN break-up despite the best intentions of its constitution. No earthly system is incorruptible or indestructible. Especially when that system (the USA democratic system) is now denying the very foundation of Godliness on which it was founded. Today the Americans have legally removed God from their consciousness and are busy legalizing unnatural concepts such as same-sex marriage, abortion, etc directly against God's commandments. Well it will take nothing for the country to break up if God also turns His back on them.

Business / Re: Ikeja City Mall At Alausa by jajaopobo(m): 8:51am On Dec 18, 2011
I am just sick and tired of all these jack asses who sit in the US or China or wherever and just keep talking rubbish about any new development in Nigeria as if it is nothing. That guy who says he lives in Shanghai and that foreigners building a mall in Nigeria means they are reaping us off is ignorant. First of all, no nation on earth can develop without FDI (Foreign Direct Investment), secondly, what is the point of having factories without robust distribution network like malls and wholesalers who support malls, etc. In fact at the commissioning of the new mall, Fashola stated that approx 75% of the goods on display are manufactured locally - maybe not in factories, but at least, now local manufacturers have a structured outlet fr their goods.
Moreover, countries are shifting from production to services now with countries like US and Uk having little or no factory output (having re-located most to China & co.), so not having factories is not necessarily a death knell for an economy. Rather what is needed is small-scale operations and businesses the likes of which will make economies more robust and the likes of which can only be supported by malls such as these.
Finally, who cares if the new mall is a small hall compared to the mega-malls they have outside the country. Im sure if they build megamalls here it is the same nimcompoops like these that will complain that they are spending all the money to build malls that are too big. Instead of you abroad guys running off your mouth about developments here, why don't you come back home and try to contribute to the development of the country if you were so smart. I guess you left because you couldn't survive here in the first place.

kettykin:

why do some people keep blaming gej , if you were smatter than him why not opt out of the country rather than stay on and be complaining , must you belong to nigeria. You dont want to opt out and you are bent on stopping those that want to opt out.

Pakistani muslims opted out of a union with infidels in india, but not so for nigerian muslims  they will fight ,kill, bomb and be killed to remain in the same country with christian infidels.

This is against your religion, staying in the same country with infidels. Everybody including gej will support you if you want to opt out.

You are missing the point. People are not necessarily blaming GEJ because he is a christian, no it is because he is totaly inept, bereft of new ideas and utterly incapable of mustering a solution to the problem let alone an inspiring and confidence-restoring speech to the nation. I am a christian, and even though I suspect the attack might be religiously motivated, it does not excuse the lack of will demonstrated by our so called president.
When Yar adua was battling with the militants, everybody mocked his amnesty idea at first, but ALAS it was an idea!!! What more, the idea worked well. Mr Blackbrain Jonathan on the other hand, just gives us moronic statements from his hiding place once in a while, and has so far failed to come up with one solution to the main issues at hand, unless you consider single term as a solution. I am ashamed to admit this is the kind of guy leading our country at the moment.

DAY11.:

Can we just stop mentioning uncle jona's name out of this brutality.

Solution we care for before this attack reach out to you. AM NOT JOKING. We need to stop condemning our President.

I see more coming! U.S. HEY,  lipsrsealed United Freedom,  lipsrsealed  a word to the Wise is enough.

Leave story, who else can we blame if not him. Like the other poster said, this is about the 5th or 6th bomb blast in Abuja in about a year and each time he comes out on TV to give us some cockameme bs story about how he will find and eradicate the bombers. Well so far he hasn't done it. If he cannot address this very serious matter which you yourself agree it is, then he should simply say so, step aside and let us find someone else who will.
In civilized countries, I'm not sure he would have lasted this long as president given all his failed promises and obvious inefficiencies and lack of ideas.

You can't squeeze an orange and expect tomato juice to come out. Dumbhead Jonathan has nothing intelligent in him. He is a P.hd holder who cannot engage opponents in a live debate without seeing the questions beforehand. An earthworm has more spine than he does.

POTUT:

There is something inherent in Islam, something unspoken, unwritten but nonetheless existent that allows Muslims to become terrorists and justify it with Islam.

That thing is hidden deep in the Arabic language but not found in the Quran, something Muslims from other diluted parts of the world only get to know when they associate with the terrorists.

Why is it that all terrorists who find justification in their religion have an allegiance to Islam?

The terrorists who are not Muslims have NEVER mentioned the Bible, or any other religious text in their propaganda. Why?

@alj harem,
They have not stolen your religion, there is something unwritten in Arabic, (and traceable to Mohammed), only the few , and the undiluted Jews know it.

Yes I agree with this, it can not be a coincidence that 95% of all terrorists in the world are muslims and claim to fight for some form of Allah. Meanwhile our F***head of a president sits there with his daft bowler hat meddling with judges and single term. Chai,

Politics / Re: Lagos State Governorship Debate On Channels by jajaopobo(m): 9:30am On Mar 13, 2011
Interesting discussion here. A lot has been said about how Dosunmu's brightest moment was asking Fashola to explain why the incumbent govt was building the Lekki - Aajah road at a cost of N1b per km. But let's really examine that statement really - sure the amount sounds really high, but I suspect Dosunmu may have rather displayed his ignorance than brilliance by asking that question because he did not benchmark that cost against any known internationally accredited standard or a comparative project in any part of the world. So who is to say that the cost is unusual just because it sounds high?

In fact, I blame BRF for not challenging him on that issue, because a precursory look at a report on the WSDOT lists certain factors as affecting the cost of a highway which they say varies quite widely. These factors include:
• Structures and interchanges: Projects that have structures and interchanges have a much higher cost per lane mile. The road in question may not have any interchanges, but it does have structures (toll gates, foot bridges and a fence). It also has a lot of side roads constructed for access to buldings cut off by the fence.
• Right of way: This may not apply as the govt already owned the right of way
• Environmental impacts: Not sure how much of this was built into the design, but I'm aware a lot of work went into detrminng the impact of widening the bride at Mobil, etc.
• Existing soil and site conditions: Differing soil and site conditions also have an impact on the cost per lane mile. This is a major point here due to the silty and water-logged nature of Lekki and is sure to impact very heavily on the cost.

Now to look at a few international exapmles for comparison and see how the Lekki-ajah expansion unit cost really fares. First of all Dosunmu claims the road is costing N1b/km. Let's assume this is true, then the figure comes to approx. $6.7m/km at today's exchange rate. So a few examples below.

• SR 18 widening in rural King County (no interchanges) - about $24.5 million per mile = $15.4m per km
• I-5 widening in Vancouver (2 interchanges) – about $20.2 million per mile = $12.6m per km
• I-5 adding single HOV lanes from Tukwila to Fife (solid ground) – about $11.2 million per mile = $7m per km

Even a sample of responses from other discussion forums (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=856330) on the internet yield the following answers:
• $ 14 million or € 11 million per kilometer, seems quite standard - ChrisZwolle from Holland
• In Poland it's € 6-10 mln ($8.3 - 13.9m) on average, although it gets to as much as € 20-25 mln ($28 - 34.7m) in heavily-urbanized areas - Majestic from Poland
• In a developing country like Ireland, the costs are on average $10 million a kilometer,

It would appear that the quoted unit cost fares favourably with comparable international projects, Of course this is not completely accurate as it would require detailed matching of the circumstances and details of each project being compared. This is something which I may not be able to do but which one would certainly have expected from a governorship candidate of no less a party as PDP with so many people working on his campaign. I guess the real question is: is this how unprofessional he plans to be if elected?

For anybody looking for high quality and reliable trailer heads direct from Europe, please go to http://www.rydertrucks.biz . They have very good trucks for very good price, the trailer heads have already been imported and are in Lagos. For example, I bought a very neat DAF 85CF 430hp from them for less than 3million, and it was not right-hand drive! I recommend them for anyone looking to buy a trailer head soon.
