We did not drop points today cos of lack of leadership. The boys played real well. We were just unfortunate.
Another delusional statement

AW branded Almunia as a World class Goalie when he spoke in Feb 2009 to arsenal.com
That's what he felt back then and he is entitled to his freaking opinion in the context with which he said it.
If you don't agree, you can go jump into the deepest part of River Thames!
I will respect his opinion more than a Chav who thinks otherwise.
Simple
And next time you make such statements, at least, put an addendum that, this statement was made a couple of years ago
And his opinion at the time can safely be deemed as purely delusional because Almunia has never consistently shown amazing form for anyone

with a fully functioning brain cells to consider him world class. In conclusion, arsene wenger is a delusional old geezer. simple as.

Dunno why there's all this fuss - we're talking potential here - Vela was immense at youth level like Messi so it isn't ridiculous to think he has a similar level of potential even if he hasn't delivered on it, or never delivers on it.

Judging potential is not an exact science, and is more of an opinion more than anything. Leave us be with our opinions.

If I am a dolt, then you are freaking fraudster
You behaved as if AW made the statement yesterday night
and I asked you tacitly that if he thought he was world class yesterday, then why was he looking for a Goalie all summer
Not knowing that you went digging up something he said in FEB 2009!!!!!
Why not go and look for what AW said in 1980huh
and it's AW's opinion that he's world class. ,
who are you to say he's apparently never been world class?
He was once courted by the English Press around that period to be England's number one.
Or if he is that bad as you are claiming, why would he be considered for England?
like I said STFU and vamoose from this place.
What a nincompoop

The crux of the issue here is, who brands Almunia as a world class goalie. . . .who does that

some assertions are simply ridiculous regardless of when and in what context they were made. now that my friend is the issue here

Also try and weigh the context in which it was said.
Now please go and discuss your 4-1 victory on your thread and leave us in peace to discuss our victory!
You are a dolt.

Why can't some posters admit to their goof. . . . you disputed my assertion of AW branding Almunia as a world class goalie at any point in time

(when it's apparent he has never been a world class goalie) and I provided evidence. who cares when the remark was made.

what counts is that your manager actually considered him a world class goalie. SIMPLES.

Dont take it for granted that Manure would top the group.

Next matchday they have to visit Valencia who already recorded a 4-0 away victory
Manure's first team should trump Valencia. . . .considering this is a weaker Valencia side compared to previous seasons.

I partly agree with eastbay and chamo

The players fielded against rangers were good enough to win the game. especially at old trafford.

Chelsea started 3 non regulars and introduced another 3 youngsters later in the game and still won the game away from home emphatically

but on the otherhand. . . .tkb's assertion on the right mic holds some validitity as well. . . . you tailor your resources and formation according to your opponent

fergie knew beforehand that rangers were gonna park the bus like many other teams do at old trafford. he should have employed more creative players

in that game.I guess both fergie and the players must share the blame

Wenger - Almunia is a world-class goalkeeper

Arsène Wenger believes Manuel Almunia is as good as any goalkeeper in the Premier League.

The Spaniard established himself as Arsenal's No 1 last season and has gone from strength to strength this term. On Saturday, he will look to extend a run of five consecutive clean sheets when Fulham visit Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

Almunia was a relative unknown when he arrived in North London in July 2004 but he has shown patience and determination to wait for his chance and climb up the pecking order. Wenger is often linked with a move for a new goalkeeper but the Frenchman would not swap his No 1 for Petr Cech, Edwin van der Sar, Shay Given or anyone.

“Yes, I think [he is as good as them]. Because you can only say if you keep clean sheets you cannot do much better," said Wenger.

“He was not ready when he came here but he worked very hard, has great physical potential, learnt a lot with Jens Lehmann – he toughened him up, Lehmann.

“He does not get as much credit as he deserves. Then again, it’s only down to his performances, and, if they last, it will happen.

“He had a good season and had maybe one difficult game, against Tottenham, and the fans are less forgiving for a game like that, than for any other game.

“I rate him very highly. He has a great attitude and he’s technically very good and physically very strong as well.

"I think we have two world-class goalkeepers, [Lukasz] Fabianski and him."  cheesy cheesy grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Let's look at the match's result from a critical angle

Do you think Man Utd's strongest team would have broken the resilient and highly disciplined rangers defence last night?

Barca are prob the strongest and most creative team in the world and were also reduced to half chances and long range shot against a disciplined

hercules side. . . .case in point, they fielded their strongest team and still lost to an inferior team on paper.

sometimes good and disciplined defence can counteract an excellent attack and given the way rangers played last night, not even paul scholes would

have made a difference.
