jafextra: Hello house, I intend to do lintel of my 3 bedroom apartment @Ifo Ogun State please can someone assist me on how much I should budget for. The materials and the cost of labour. Thanks for your assistance as I don't know much about building. What kind of lintel? Is it the all round metal rod binding or selection type? By selection I mean metal rod binding over windows and doors only. And what is the size of building. You can provide floor plan for correct estimates |
d. We are resuming on this in October |
spyder880: At a point the sizes of trucks on display and their carriage capacity became such a confusing issue to agree on between me and the truck owners/suppliers, so I changed style.Huh..fair enough |
Subscribing... Please change the camera or adjust the setting for better picture clarity. Thanks |

kcool_k4: I want to say trucks matter. I stand to be corrected though. From experience, I know all these trucks have load ratings when and where it was manufactured. It's called GVWR. There are some that have 60,000 pounds GVWR while some have 80,000lbs GVWR and so on. You also have to know the tare load and pay load which is the maximum load it can carry. These two weights are written most of the time on the truck or you can pull it up with VIN. These, to a large extent, affect the load the trucks can carry even if they look just alike and are of the same model. These GVWR differs significantly and are greatly enforced on U.S roads. You are not allowed to go over the limit. I'll say you are partly right because under normal circumstance, the scale is supposed to tell us everything I've mentioned earlier in the absence of that info I wrote, but you and I know what some dishonest people do around the scales in Nigeria quarries. May God help us in all ways in Nigeria. Almost everywhere you turn to,someone is ready to rip you off, and we turn around and blame Jona or Fash!.Good points you made here but allow me to chip in some infos for you: all these trucks are re modified when they arrive nigeria. I know this because I am a professional in the granite and haulage industry. Most this trucks with 60,000 GVWR will be made to carry lesser load when its get here because most buckets attached to them are not calibrated. Most of the buckets you see attached to this trucks are built by welders who know nothing about calibration. So I go with checkiaut that what matters is the scale you load at the quarry. |
brabus: I've only purchased 3 loads so far and I still have 1 full load left on ground. Meanwhile, I've done the followingBros brabus granite stone is cheaper in ondo compared to abeokuta oo...heard they sell @1600 per ton |
spyder880: They even have a "granite village" somewhere aroundThis abounds along kobape/shagham-berger express road..hehehe |
@brabus and spyder: sharp practices abound when it comes to suppliers of granite and sharp sand. There is no way you can beat to it..NO WAY..because if they didn't cheat you by 'scrapping' off along the way, they will cheat you when loading. You can only pray that you find a trustworthy company that has bulk capacities. I always advise builders to patronise companies rather than road side suppliers. @spyder from the truck pics you posted above, only ONE of them has the capacity to carry 30 tons and that's the white mack truck at the extreme end. The truck with the blue bucket can not even carry up to 25tons!! Just as i once pointed out , some builders are gullible and not ready to pay for the right price. They only want to see that the granite is 'full' and trust suppliers, they get trucks with smaller buckets and heap it to deceive builders. this has happened to us several times and i only laugh such builders off and ask them to patronise road side sellers for. such cheap price. How can you say you want 3/4 granite size for 1350 per ton !!!!! |
visalat: How To Use GatewayVPN VPN on MTN NigeriaThere is nothing like gateway vpn dude...we only have vpn gateway |
Does she sleep over when she comes? If yes, probably the moaning/noise from the 'bed-action' gets to your landlord. You should call your landlord and ask him to specifically tell you his reasons, so that you can adjust. |
helpee: @mufutau. Tnks for d encouragement. Nigerians are so dubious. The ironbender called me that they needed 40 more length of 12mm and 15 more length of 16mm. I made the order. They called me that they were offloading the rod on site and I told them I was attending to a patient that I couldn't come. After seeing d patient I just changed my mind and went. Behold, the ironbender had organised with the people that brought d iron rods and they loaded back 20pieces of 12mm and 5pieces of 16mm and were about going when I caught. They wanted to steal forty thousand worth of iron rod at a go. I will soon change all hands on site.Omo mehnn...that's a huge discovery by you. But didn't you have an estimated quote for the iron rod already? I asked because even if the speculated quote falls below, the addition shouldn't be up to 32!!!. |
brabus: You're interpreting Hajji wrongly. I guess he's referring to the rough road we have to pass before making it BIG in life. Especially the stormy water we have to swim in this project before getting to the finish line. Isale Oro l'egbin indeed. Nobody saw me when we are keeping vigil in the thick wood to ensure that the DPC was completed. |
mufutau55: I was refering to Brabus... if my Yoruba is still good.. It means when Brabus is laboring, going thru all he went thru before this house started, trying to make some money and working until about 2am nobody sees him now, but when the money started rolling in, people will notice it then. Are we cleared?I get you now.. That statement could mean the source of wealth is questionable. But now I understand you mean it the other way round in respect to Brabus. May God crown all our effort with success. Amen |
mufutau55: But then, "Isale oro legbin, ki Oluwa pin wa lere".I beg to ask for what you mean by this? Do you buy any chance know the owner of this house? |
brabus: Fence Design - What do you think?No2 is beautiful and eye catching |
segcy.moor:segcy.moor...you also tendered a quotation for the same project brabus is handling in Ondo? |
Od31: That is the reality in PH now my friend. I faced the same thing too. The truth is that even if you pay, you will still not get the approval on time. The State approval takes time. If you do not get the approval and you start any work the task force people will still come to disturb your and ask for your approval and when u fail to produce it, they will write on ur wall or fence "stop work" they will want to take money from you that you have contravene the law by starting the building without state approval. It is really a very terrible thing going on in PH now. the common man is suffering. The best bet is the get to know the task force around that area first, before you start anything that way you can get along and take your time to get the state approval. It takes time. I paid since last year september/october, and by Jan when i returned to nigeria, i attempted to start foundation, then i meet this taskforce people, even with the evidence i showed them, that I have paid for the state approval, the insist to see the approval. I even called the guy rom the state office that is handling it but that could not resolve the issue. I had to give another moni. So it is a mess. My Advice, get to the state taskforce in charge of the area you are building and have an understanding, so you can start otherwise, if you have to wait for the state approval, it may not come out in the next 1 year. even when you have someone in the state office (urban development office) doing it for you. mine is still not out till now.Did you pay all the fees @chinosxl outlined above? |
spyder880: This house is big!Spyder, big is an understatement.. The house is huge mehnn!!! |

We all view Nairaland differently: some view it as a platform to express their immorality, some just come here to catch fun and play, some see it as a platform to create an image for themselves and some use images of themselves which they create through here for financial gains. @op: congrats to u. It is good you made a good use of NL and this is to show others that social media has gone beyond the state where you think success can't be attained or wealth can not be made from it. Be wise and use social media to your advantage. |
orgasticdance: How exactly is he breaking new ground? By participating in photo-ops with celebrities who invariably have had more influence in the world than he can dream of? He was just another greedy resourceful banker, and a mighty big airhead only interested in the bottom line and not building a worldclass company such as GTB..next abegIf building a world class corporation in africa isn't breaking new grounds, then I'm compelled to ask u what it is? Do you know the worth of Heirs holdings? Or you think it is a joke to meet the US president in another country different from yours if your portfolio isn't tight? I usually don't reply comments like yours but I'm compelled to but I advise you to think out of the box and see yourself on top |
Chekitaut: On point but "agreement is agreement" in paper and in words. if a supplier cant deliver at the agree price he shld just leave the supply but never under the sun he want to cheat. You think road side suppliers care about their reputation or name? All they want is to get gullible clients to fall prey and unfortunately they do fall. Standards have value and a client who want to spend his hard earned money should know where to look to get value. |
