emergency911: Thanks boss.
Na so I think too about PTE o , the thing show me pepper! I did it twice, the highest I had in speaking was 44. I had to run back to IELTS before dem turn me their magga.
Meanwhile, I had 6.5/6.5/6.5/7W in my first IELTS, i just thought to try it once more with better preparation perhaps I might get lucky.
My take on PTE having given it twice is, once you don't get the strategies to outsmart the computer in place, you will continue to dash dem money ni. So true!! I said same thing to Mamajaz earlier today. PTE just get as e be. I no know say u don mark their register twice already. Good luck with the IELTS (I hope say na General sha). I'd be happy to help with the preparation. PM me pls |

How I wished you have your English 10 or 20 handy, dem for roger you ITA on Tuesday. I'm wondering why you didn't explore PTE in lieu of IELTS considering time, money and all. Moreso na only 10 point u need. All the best |

cuteannie02: Thanks @jamson and oknee, am looking at June /July, destination Melbourne, right now IOM naija is saying seats are sold out till end of September but still telling me to hold on, however IOM Australia offered 1200 USD, but of course the challenge with that option is sourcing for USD. Thanks for your advices abt the site, didn't trust it 100% sounded too good to be true. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome please. I'm aware IOM Aus accepts payment in Naira through IOM Nigeria. Not sure of the rates though. |

cuteannie02: Hello house, please o, has anyone successfully used cheapflights.com to Australia? oknee: From the gist i heard , it dosent come cheap. The dollars will be converted at the parallel market rate and other hidden charges too. Iom is still the cheapest. When are you planning on moving and to which state? Gbam!! Please do not bother with those sites. All they do is convert air fares and display them in the official Naira equivalent which is never available to us. What's your date and destination? What is IOM offering you? |

Vinsmuft: I think the requirement is that your spouse must nominate an occupation on the same skill occupation list as the principal applicant. What I believe that means is that if your occupation is on SOL, then your spouse's occupation must be on SOL also.
See the requirement below as copied from their site.
Partner skills --------------- You can receive five points if, when you are invited to apply for this visa, your partner provides evidence that they: were under 50 years of age had at least competent English had nominated an occupation on the same skilled occupation list as your nominated occupation had been assessed by the relevant assessing authority as having suitable skills for the nominated occupation.
Unless I am missing something. See @bolded. That's what you are missing. if your EOI point is calculated based on 189, and you seek to add partner point, your spouse must have nominated, and gotten positive assessment from an occupation on SOL list. Same same for 190 In other words, I cannot claim partner point if wifey's occupation is only on CSOL while I am seeking 189... |

What we are interested in knowing (to be able to help determine your likely ITA date) is your aspect of Engineering....Mechanical? Electrical? Civil? |

korlahwarleh: Please those that have "spanked" PTE test in the past, your help is needed here. Did you have to choose another reason other than "immigration/PR" as the reason for writing the test before you got your high marks?. I chose immigration as my purpose for taking both my PTE and IELTS. What I feel especially for IELTS is that they are quick to give up to 7-7.5 in their subjective parts, but anything more, you must be exceptionally good. Mamajaz, Pls no vex ooo |

aceBlazer: Mechanical engineering which I understand has been placed on the pro-rata list... I need like 70 points if am to get invitation before the end of this financial year. That said, am yet to begin this pr process and still working on my cdr. I have got 10 points on ielts and I don't wanna claim points on experience which actually isn't much. That brings it to 55 points. So am asking if I can do my skill assessment based on this point while I hope to gather more points before ITA drops. Put differently... does the points count for anything for this first stage of skills assessment? Apparently you need all the points you can get. Depending on your age, qualification and English proficiency scores, it's hard for me to determine your absolute potential scores. But from all indications, your 10 pointer English cannot fly ooo. You have to start working towards a 20 pointer which lots of people have secured on this thread via PTE. Let's have your points breakdown so we can advise further. |

aceBlazer: @ Bnimz & Jamson...all other useful inputs also appreciated Pls I need to be cleared on something...At what point exactly do you need to tender maximum points of 65 or 70 as the case may be? From comments here, it seems like you don't need maximum points especially from English tests, for the first stage of the skill assessment. Pls I need urgent responses... cheers folks. Perfectly answered by Vinsmuft. What is your occupation, Aceblazer? |

ugsams: If one doesn't claim his work experience during EOI by indicating irrelevant experience, won't that raise a red flag on how the person got a positive assessment in the first place and that might make them to consider your information as false for not declaring the right status of your experience. Maybe it could work for Engineers who assess through EA as they don't always need relevant work experience unlike VETASSESS which requires at least one year relevant experience.
cc bellong Not a problem really. 1 or 2 years experience will not give you any point in addition to what you have already, I think the way around this is to indicate less than 3 years as relevant and leave the rest as 'on the job training years'. I am not sure they will go all the way flogging your 1 or 2 years experience that never added to your points in the first place. Just an idea. Congrats, chidike 40manlappy, how far with madam? when is she taking PTE again? Make she quick scatter the thing as e still dey hot for body ooo |

OzyMigrant: Thanks OP. Have you tried it yourself? What percentage of your speech did it pick correctly?
I have used a lot of speech to text SW both on my phone and PC. The more I used them, the more demoralized I became (not until Jamson.....a PTE legend here warned me against using them) ....I have junked them all. Lol@ PTE legend. If na by software ni...chaiii.... I am wondering how one will be able to naturally flow with new 'pronunciation skills' in a tensed exam condition without sounding awkward. I have not said it is entirely useless making use of speech to text software. If it works for you, fine and if otherwise, don't waste your time on it. IMO, it is almost impossible to overhaul your pronunciation within one or two months of PTE preparation. It is like changing your accent within a short period of time and expect to be proficient at it. I managed to pull a 90 in speaking without using any pronunciation app. You can pronounce all you want and still fall short of the 79. How did I know this? Pronunciation is just one of several other pointers set to appraise you, they include vocabulary, oral fluency, grammar, content, form etc. If your pronunciation is not matching 97% on a prep software, you can shift your weight onto other pointers to balance the score. Work on your speed, pauses around fullstops and commas. Also use stresses appropriately around phrases. All this can be clearly observed and learnt from the way newscasters read. ehen... southwest english dey ja 90 well well ooo. ask Bnimz and Phlunter |

Prolivingproof: Jamson,
so how did the person make the payment on your behalf? Trying to do same by sending money to a friend in the UK. Do i need to give him access to my VETASSESS registration page or provide my ref. no to him? please put me through if you have an idea how that is done. Exactly! Do make sure all is done from your end as to filling and uploading. Make an attempt to pay, copy and send your friend the payment url and of course, he will require your access credentials to access your payment page. |
