Iran says US-Israeli strikes are hitting hospitals, neighbourhoods Hospitals and health facilities across Iran have suffered damage as US-Israeli strikes intensify, according to Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian. Speaking to Al Jazeera from Tehran, Jafarian said medical teams are coping with a growing number of casualties, many of them civilians killed at the scene of attacks. “Unfortunately, there are a lot of … victims which are killed at the scene, because [US-Israel] are carpet bombing … civilian infrastructure,” he said, adding that at least 1,395 people have been killed. People are still trapped under collapsed buildings, he added. “Most of these people are civilians … living in neighbourhoods,” he said, warning that strikes on urban areas have intensified in recent days. “We have 31 major clinical facilities and hospitals damaged. Twelve of those hospitals are inactive now.” Jafarian added that 149 health centres have been hit, with about 100 damaged in the past four days alone. “Unfortunately, we had two of our healthcare workers … killed in the past four days.” |
